So for those who don't know this, Mock Reviews are a practice that developers sometimes will use to gauge what the reception will be like for their game. They hire reviewers (usually ex-journalists) to play through their game, and then write up a review for it and submit it to the developer for their eyes only. Just recently Shinobi posted this: neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=231220301&postcount=17851Not long after that, someone brought up the fact that Shinobi mentioned a month ago, that he heard the mock reviews for Horizon were "great", and called out the fact that Shinobi said the mock reviews for ME:A were "good", instead of saying great. Shinobi followed up with this: neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=231224041&postcount=17869Keep in mind that mock reviews aren't representative of official reviews when the embargo lifts, but they're usually fairly close as far as I know. But also keep in mind DA:I has an 89 on MC, and apparently it's now the worst thing ever that gives gamers PTSD. So this should all be taken with a bit of salt, but there ya go. |

In my books anything that gets over 8/10 from me is worth bying, maybe not at full price, but still worth buying.
6.5-7.9 id consider a rental. Anything below that, id leave to the bin.
Problem is i can usually only review the game after ive bought it.

Well, of course the majority of outright hate comes from the PC base. I'm playing DA:O on PS3 right now and I'm already craving DA2 for the gameplay. You can feel how as a series it was nothing but upgrades from DA:O to DA:I on consoles but for PC DA:O has something that neither 2 nor DA:I had at all and DA:I just completely screwed it up by wrecking the controls and making objectives based on "platforming" and other action-y stuff and the Tactical Cam on PC is a slap in the face. Not that i put much faith in Shinobi, but yeah MEA previews were all positive so no reason to think that the reviews will now said that the game sucks. ps: DAI did won a "shit-ton" of prizes. ...in 2014!  |

Shinobi's response a little earlier in the thread about why he thinks fans dislike what they see in "modern BioWare games" is so far off the mark it's not even funny. Seriously, he's just so far up his own ass with his defense of everything BioWare just so he can be friends with them.

I once saw someone say (without a hint of shame) that they'd be giving Inquistion 0/10 because he was recommending the PC version instead. User reviews can fall into utter an utter biased mess as fanboys give glowing reviews to up the score and detractors give zeroes because they're more interested in hurting the score than giving an honest rating. |

User reviews are either glowing masterpieces to try and raise the score because they're fanboys or zeroes trying to sink it because they're just being petty. The prove is there for everyone to see on Metacritic. Hundreds of trolls gave the game a zero just to reduce the global user score. But their critic score is usually more reliable since they index dozens of specialized sites. |

Truth be told i never really had any problem with mouse+keyboard, also never bothered with the tactical cam since the game is very fast paced. Only find out about it later in the foruns. ps: 2014. Of course, after all the game was released that year. |

DA:I 89/100?... I wish I played that version of DA:I. To be fair I played DAI one and half year after release and during first like 10 or more hours I sincerely wondered why there was such shitstorm? Slow and painful realization was coming... May be it was the case for some reviewers too? EDIT: I recently checked user reviews for ME3 and funny thing that they are also tend to be either 0 or 10 with little middle ground but strangely enough I still literally agree with every one of them. |

It'd be cherrypicking if those previews were negative and he picked only the sections where they said good things about it. How exactly do you cherry pick positive segments from a positive preview? What did you expect him to do, cherrypick the negative segments? He said a week before that the previews were looking good, then the previews released and they were good. |

Yes, we are the polar opposites as people in terms of half-full vs half-empty, therefore I can't help but antagonize him at the thought.
Unfair skepticism is something I can be guilty of at times. I can twist the arm a bit too much at times. But there's nothing that makes my shit boil as much as blind optimism from some fanboy.
