MEA Soundtrack (Official Thread)

Hi-Finesse? I'm surprised they didn't use this track for a trailer:

It's a shame they didn't get Jack Wall back. I just hope the new soundtrack will live up to the original

I think we heard snippets from the soundtrack in the IGN beginning 13 minutes of the game video. Honestly, pretty meh from what I've heard so far. I did like very much the track that plays in the briefing videos, I can easily imagine it as the galaxy map music for ME:A. John Paesano strikes me as a composer that runs things by the numbers, not doing anything really special. He doesn't have a signature style like Trevor Morris has. If he is composing, expect the soundtrack to sound Mass Effecty but without the tracks being as memorable as in the Shepard Trilogy. On the other hand, the beginning in ME3 doesn't have any memorable tracks by itself also, but the soundtrack is the strongest in the series IMO, so things can change.

As for DA:I, I think that the soundtrack suffers from not being played much in the game itself, but as a soundtrack by itself it is BY FAR the best in the Dragon Age series, especially if you consider Trespasser. Sorry Inon Zur...

There aren't any confirmed musical pieces for ME:A. The closest you can get is the game beginning video but that's going into spoiler territory.

I disagree with that.

Music is one of the most important things to give a game its own identity. This game isn't the ME trilogy, as much as I loved its music.

So yeah, they confirmed that John Paesano is the composer this time around, though people already expected it. Also it seems like they got some local musicians to share their music for the in-game world. (music in the clubs and whatnot)

This is something I thought Dragon Age Inquisition struggled with quite a bit. While a lot of the new soundtrack was great (in particular the Inquisitor's Theme), I thought it was too much of a departure from the Dragon Age soundtrack we had come to know. For me, personally, is was a bit of a turnoff and the music didn't resonate with me nearly as much. It just didn't sound like Dragon Age.

I'm somewhat concerned that theme will repeat itself in MEA, considering this is a soft reboot of the franchise. Given how iconic the soundtrack from the first three games was, it would be a shame if not even a semblance of it continued. I'm all for new music and new direction, but some of the old should still be retained. What would Star Wars be if we didn't occasionally hear some of John Williams' most iconic melodies?
