I like the way the DA:I dlc's added to the story, i liked the way some of the ME dlc's added to the story, I disliked that the citadel DLC didn't add to the storyline, if i let her live i wanted that bint to crop up later, when i killed her i wanted it to affect something the fact either option had zero persistent effect (even the paragon changes did nothing) annoyed me the first tiem i played it through, trespasser i loved but i thought it finished too fast if there going to offer DLC's for ME:A then i hope there a better mixture that offer a new experience in the game play, otherwise whats the point of replaying the game once the DLC's are released might just as well fire up the end game save and play them through, i play RPG's for the story so give me a new story to experience and see how it changes the game !!!! but that might be just my view on it

I think, honestly, every DLC should have an affect on the game as DLC content, regardless of when it's built, can be accounted for and therefore included with the rest of the game. To me, the biggest miss was Kasumi because she was really that fascinating of a character and could have done with some real man/woman material who won't ditch them at the soonest convenience.
Now, how big a change? It should be minor. It should be something not needed for the game to be complete. It could be missing knowledge (Leviathan DLC), a new LI (oh Kasumi, you crazy) or an explicit answer to a puzzle (Trespasser DLC). Some will likely argue how big a change this makes, for the literal this is understandable, but i think people should consider, from the context of the game, did it really matter. We're not talking lore, just specific to the game.
I hope BioWare, as i'm expecting, is careful with such DLC but at the same time, please, be potentially a little reckless. Every new addition just ups the replayability factor. Yes, MP's great, but if you hate PUGs, which a lot do, we're going to need that extra something to sing the praises of the next game.

I'm finally going to throw in my two cents.
I don't want DLC to be plot-critical. I felt like Javik was absolutely too important to be sold as DLC for ME3. For this reason, "From Ashes" is a good example of bad DLC. (I was one of the dopes that preordered, so I paid for my DLC up front, in this case.) Conversely, in this era, you can't sell a simple one-off mission like "Bringing Down the Sky" for more than a couple of dollars. As much as I enjoy it, it doesn't really add anything to the game. It too, based upon its price point and relevance to the plot, could be called bad DLC.
What I do want is substantial DLC that builds upon the plot. It can do so by adding to the existing plot, or by adding very meaningful side stories when appropriate. Whatever form it takes, the DLC must feel like it's driving the plot forward. Otherwise, it's a waste of time and money. Smaller, less story-focused DLCs are great, too, but should still be of good quality and should be inexpensive. I think the ME franchise has done a pretty decent job with DLC. Some have been a bit pricey, of late, but the quality has always been pretty good.

The fact that we even conceive of DLCs as a given now is the sad thing. How about games just get an appropriate deadline and artists get to actually enact their vision right away instead. If there's things to be added later, it wouldn't have to impact the main story... because the main story would actually be done. Y'know.. like games used to be.

I don't mind that they can add extras after the fact now, though. That's what DLC should be for, rather than for completely incomplete stories.
