I would not be surprised if we can act as assholes when we are talking to other species/characters. And most likely it will have some consequences that will affect the whole initiative. Ex when we are talking to the Krogans on New Tuchanka, if we act superior and refuse to help them, we will not gain their help and maybe even lose a planet. And I would suspect that it would be like that on other places to.
I don't see why our crew should be racist, there will probably be a varied degree of caution, as we are going to unknown places and meet unknown species. And maybe people like Drack will be more inclined to the "kill first, ask later" mindset, while other will be more of the "approach cautiously" mindset.

While I probably wouldn't use the racist dialogue options much and don't expect that they would add them in, I do hope that Andromeda will let be me be more of a dick to people than Inquisition did. Although I'm expecting Inquisition levels of "you can sometimes be a dick, but you gotta be paragon overall" During the templar recruitment mission when there was that demon of envy and it showed me how it would run Inquisition in my place and I was like: ''Fuu, that's exactly how I want to run the Inquisition, y u do dis bioware?''

Able to replay the first two games in the trilogy so much because not many games let you be an asshole and still actually accomplish things. Even when you had someone die and were angry because something bad happened or you got screwed, your options were still like a children's cartoon. "Thats sad, but we must persevere!" would be under the "aggressive" tag for dialogue.

Do you think we will be able to act racist in this game and make remarks about other species while always putting the needs of humanity above all others? Do you think any crew members might behave in that way and approve? Man watching that video makes me hope we still at least have the ability to be a total dick in Andromeda.

There's a difference between being a cooperative asshole, no BS kind of character and basically having to be Scooby and The Gang or Hitler. That was kinda how it worked in DAI. The only time you got a "renegade" style option it was basically the worst thing ever.

In ME its fun to punch people through the window. In the early DA games its fun to kill children and massacre elves if you feel like it, and you still get your army. By DAI, it was "Kill the guys we tell you to or we won't help you by cooking bread and stitching boots for you." and you couldn't have a dialogue with the other side about "How about you work with me? I like that you're horrible, despicable people and will do anything to win a fight."

That's actually a point I really didn't like about Inquisition. It's an established fact in the Dragon Age universe that Humans are largely racist pricks about Elves, but it's hardly even mentioned in that game. The only two mentions I can recall are a small bit about the quartermaster saying "if anybody gives you trouble for being an elf let me know" and the bit about the Chantry not being terribly happy about an elf leading the Inquisition. After that, you never hear about it again. My Dalish Elf Mage should have gotten a lot more hate and subsequently been able to tell all of those people to go shove it than what I got in that game. Everybody just kind of accepted that it happens now that not only an Elf but a Mage was leading the Inquisition.

I liked the DA2 style, if they made it like that but with more options I will be happy.

Everybody just kind of accepted that it happens now that not only an Elf but a Mage was leading the Inquisition. Everyone in Thedas is racist as fuck! Humans hate most elves, have distrust of dwarves, despise the qunari. Elves hate all humans, indifferent to dwarves, not a fan of the Qunari. Dwarves like dwarves and even hate some dwarves and all non-dwarves. Qunari either are rogues who don't care about the Qunari, or are so fiercely loyal they'd bite into the skull of a baby like an apple if they were told. Then in DAI, the most you get is a "Hmm, idk about you" like three times in terms of mistrust at any point in the game really. It watered down the interesting cultural dynamics in the game so hard.

Felt like the first time that game let me be properly angry while still getting the job done.

There was something with an elf sideplot where the options were "be besties, be besties, be besties or commit genocide" There were other moments I remember having, but not the specifics since I haven't touched that game since I finished it that holiday season.

Man watching that video makes me hope we still at least have the ability to be a total dick in Andromeda. Probably not, again the fact that we can be emotional/logical/professional/casual means that the main idea for which we only choose the tone is already preset for us. Seems like we only go backwards baby... IDK, I don't really get that impression. Agree/Disagree is also an option, they also mentioned that there would be some natural tension between you and Cora, and politics and religion could come into discussion. Seems like there's at least some potential in those areas to be a dick.

If you play as any non-human, you're told repeatedly how controversial you are and how much extra stuff you're going to have to overcome to accomplish anything. Then you play the game and basically all your encounters with different leaders, factions and groups are all very cordial and respectful. Even contrasting it to DAO, its so bizarre. Some of my favourite conversations in ME1 and ME3 are where you're butting heads with alien races and can actually give them a big middle finger versus going "Oh golly, let me help you do all your chores so that are now super pals" and the other person going "Wow, that would be great. If you get me 6 herbs I will totally unequivocally trust you with my entire clan's future because you're swell!"

It actually doesn't make much sense in this situation. Why would anyone who hates aliens join the Andromeda Initiative, something which is a multi-species venture? It would also seem to be in the A.I.'s best interests to screen out those sorts of people.
To compare it to the real world, you wouldn't want a hardcore nationalist that can't work with foreigners as an astronaut. Psychological screening would also be a big part of the selection process for a Mars mission, because the entire trip including time spent on the Martian surface would take at least 2 and half years. The Andromeda Initiative is on a journey that takes centuries.
On that note I hope the writers come up with other conflicts besides character from species A doesn't like species B, at least within the Andromeda Initiative. It may make some sense for their to be some tension between the Andromeda natives and the new arrivals.

Cerberus made racism boring. Cerberus was awesome before Bioware fucked them up in ME3. I def would work for Cerberus.
