Mass Effect Andromeda Launch Trailer *mild spoilers*

That's what I was saying, and I have no problem with it. Mass Effect probably gets most of it's sales from the bro shooter crowd anyway. Tho I could be wrong about that I have no actual stats. 


It's just funny to me how adding options for other people at all or talking about it at all is seen as pandering, but actual pandering in the trailers is fine. Like it is fine, it's business but still it's not the narrative about bioware being pushed. 

I wouldn't have minded humans being less important (the focus would've been on them anyway given the race of the pc), but it's not a big deal. The IP started and finished with humanity as the heroes that save everyone. They're just continuing towards that path.

What I Don't like:

naked scene with Scott and an Asari instead of Sarah and Asari naked (I dont expect a naked Scene with Scott and Gil or Reyes, I would dont like it)
a lot of boom
a cutscene that says, this will happen no matter which decisions you have mad because there are no decisions to avoid this scene
seems like Human saves the day-plot

nice graphic but this has no meaning, graphic power is not important and no reason to buy a game

I was hoping for some Eve Online style synth. Something kinda haunting and cold, melancholy, minamalist with no lyrics, just a soundscape etc... More in tune with a hard sci-fi atmosphere. But alas, the generic, lowest common denominator music choice detracted from the trailer for me. Rubbish song. But i have to admit people like me are not the target audience, Bioware doesnt really care about the hard science fiction nerd like me. They are never gonna release a mainstream trailer like what i would like(they'd have to complete re-cut this trailer for my music choice to work though).

But the trailer itself... Pretty meh to horrible. But then if you were already gonna buy the game, i doubt its gonna have much effect on you. This trailer is for the mass market, the Assasisins Creed/Fifa/Maden/COD/GTA/Battlefield crowd etc.. and on that basis i guess it does what it needs to do. Its a good trailer from that pov, not bad.

So yeah thats my 2 pennies.

It fits with the tone they've been going for. I did not like the first snippet they showed yesterday but this one, I kinda dug it. The added orchestral elements and cuts made it work and it fits with the youthful perspective of Ryder who is this "I'm gonna explore and show people what I can do!" kinda guy/girl. The "I'm only human" lyric fits perfectly as well.

I would've loved an atmosphereic vibe too, but it's been clear for a while that this game from a tone-POV is kinda off of ME3 in that it's very emotionally charged, it takes the popular aspects of ME2 like the space opera feel, and then it's rooted in some kind of sci-fi but the characters are going to be pretty chill about what is going on and I don't expect the Archon threat to feel like it's deserving of "haunting". I'm sensing another Corypheus in him. A generic bad dude who has a reasonable motive (if you look into it) but nonetheless he's just your average taunting, villanous bad guy who you beat near the end and that's that. Then there's probably some larger story like in DA:I that goes beyond simply what Archon is about.

Cool trailer, poor musical choice IMO.

It does... but is Sara the playable version in this trailer or is that what happens to her if you don't play as her, is my question.

Why I am always at work when the exciting stuff releases? (sigh) looking forward to watching it. As always.

No story is ever about its epilogue. We know it's going to be safe and well and Synthesis is so impossible to answer (so impossible in concept in Mass Effect context) that they simply CAN'T answer it and nobody can unless they wanna outright show us how unlikeable the setting becomes then (in synthesis). Control and Destroy both hint well at what is to come. I think Wreav survived without Eve in my last playthrough and Shepard ominously says "We will safeguard the many from themselves" or something as it pans over Wreav, to show you that if some race think they can dominate, the Reapers will step in again.

It's not BioWare's job to tell us what happens after those endings. Perhaps if they had taken a better approach to ME3's plot they could've had a fleshed out conclusion like Halo 3 (just an example) or MGS4 where you actually get a couple of scenes in the aftermath - I always pictured Shepard or his team being at Anderson's public memorial on Earth - and they'd have a few conversations that answer A) What's going to happen to the council species going forward and What will Shepard (if alive) do and what will his crew do? That was the kind of ending I was hoping the most for.
