You're still making some really bad assumptions. We haven't seen enough of the dialog wheel to draw any conclusions. Of course I'm making assumptions (I'm not stating facts), but they are far from bad. We've indeed seen enough of the dialog wheel to draw conclusions. We have the first 13 minutes of the game, the Nexus video, the Tempest video, squad and crew dialogue, etc. None of those I've seen had ANY dialogue wheel with four tones at once, or more than two choices, in any instance. Now, what is the more logical thing to assume? That the videos they showed were strangely different from the rest of the game regarding the dialogue wheels, or that what they showed is likely the overall experience of the full game? The only video I've seen so far that had four in one wheel was the Sara gameplay, released in December. I think it's unrealistic to expect every situation to have 4 dialogue choices.

I never said every wheel should have, but more than what we're seeing in the vids, definitely. It's what I would want, anyway. Now, I don't aim to prolong this discussion, this is all my opinion. I'm not even saying the game will suck because of it. Just merely stating that I expected something, wanted it, mistakenly assumed it would happen, and I've got something else, that's all, hence my disappointment. It doesn't invalidate the hype from the rest of you.

I'd say less since I'm hoping for multiplayer because I just want to see actual gameplay by competent people in an action packed fight. I don't want to see spoilers so I don't want singleplayer stuff. They showed literally 0 seconds of multiplayer today.

Less.
I was never truly aboard the hype train, but a week or so ago my hype was middling to favorable enough that I was on the brink of preordering and upgrading my computer. Then the stuff about viability points and outposts dropped and that made me less enthused. What we've seen today only continued that trend. Maybe Early Access video will make me change my mind. I dunno.

Much, much more. I was actually dwindling a week or so ago....Horizon and BotW are both so good, I wasn't sure if Andromeda had it in it. I think perhaps, I was wrong. This 0-100 ***** real quick marketing is like a tsunami of media all at once, it's blanketing the gaming sites and really taking over YT and influencers feeds.....I think they might have just cracked it: and I really thought they were straight fucking it up the whole way through (which, it seemed very much like they were, lol).

Even more hyped... Mass Effect Andromeda i already know... IT BROKE NEW GROUND!!!.
But in all seriousness.. im actually less, much less hyped. I have to start by saying that from the beginning my expectations were so low they were right next to fucking dinosaur bones. I was never once aboard the hype train, and im still not(i very rarely get hyped for a game any way. Im just not easily turned on like that). After seeing these trailers, the IGN First videos(also hearing the tweeny, awful, cringe inducing writing & dialogue and the overall even more dumb & nonsensical premise and settup for the game, they're asking for waaaay too much suspension of disbelief with Andromeda, after ME3 i didnt think that was possible but here we are), the extened gameplays etc etc(which have all but confirmed to me its basically Mass Effect: Inquisition, which a complete non-starter for me or a wait till its cheap at the very least)... It became apparent to me that what i thought Mass Effect was, and where i wanted the series to go and what Bioware/EA think Mass Effect is, and where the direction they're taking the series in... is completely different. We're no longer on the same wavelength. We've become diametrically opposed.
With each video ive lost more and more interest tbh. Kinda like the new Disney Star Wars films... I just have to admit that maybe these films/games arent for me, dont appeal to my tastes any longer.

Less. Much less.
The last game I played was Witcher 3, on XB1... and compared to that, watching these facial animations is excruciatingly painful. I don't even think they're up to ME3 standards on last gen. I don't get it.
I haven't watched every video, but from the clips I've seen, the writing is very wooden.
That said, I'm a sucker for Mass Effect, so my pre-order stays up. Just hoping the animations are better on release than what I'm watching via (mostly) Youtube footage. The writing.... I don't have much faith in. Crossing fingers and hoping, all the same.

Last year I was very down on this game and super skeptical, but it's proven itself. So more into it. Still the proof is on the pudding and with PC gaming performance in the decline I will need to see good performance before i bite and buy it. I still have some issues with DAI to this day and have an SLi 980 system. As long as it runs decently at a good setting is all I ask. Which is surprisingly hard to get these days on pc.

Unchanged. Before I picked up ME trilogy, I didn't expect much. I did my research and the response is generally positive and plenty of mixed feelings. But I pick it up and didn't regret playing. I laughed and cried playing it. The trailers and reviews can tell you something but not what it could do to you. The game was better than the impression the trailers gave me.

I'd say I'm more excited.
I was able to keep relatively cool during most of the development (especially since they were tight lipped for so long) but with more and more info...who am I kidding? It's Mass Effect. It's THE game I've been waiting for.
I wanted to try and not get my hype level up too high in large part due to DA: Inquisition. While it was a major critical success and a lot of players seemed to love it, it ended up being really disappointing to me. There's a lot about the game that bothered me and caused me not to like it, but I'd be lying if I said that my expectations and anticipation for something special set myself up for disappointment.

I have been cautiously but eagerly awaiting Andromeda since we got our first snippet of gameplay. I always knew I was going to get it, regardless of what anyone else thought of it, but that's mostly just because I like to review games for myself.
I would say that so far, my hype levels are unchanged. I'm not suuuuper excited, but I'm eager to start playing. I know there are a lot of things that I won't like all that much, but it also seems like it won't be wasted time.
I like the idea, I like some of the mechanics, I like the tone and the humor, and I like the aesthetic.
Hopefully it'll be an amazing game. I want it to be. I'm doubtful that it will, but I'm open to being surprised.

So after what we have seen so far(which isn't that much to begin with) are you still excited about the game or did it make you change your mind about buying it? I'm more excited than I thought I would be.

From KOTOR onward, I bought every Bioware game on or before release.
...Until reaching the end of ME3. At that point I kind of decided that Bioware had undergone ... changes, and decided not to buy their next release until GOTY all-DLC versions went on sale.
I repeatedly resisted the temptation to pick up Dragon Age: Inquisition, until I noticed the GOTY version on sale last Summer for $19.99. Clicked Buy. I played through Inquisition...and decided I had done the right thing. I didn't hate Inquisition. On the contrary, I really enjoyed my playthrough. It was great to see Varric and Leliana again. But while it was a deal at $20, It was _not_ worth $60 + subsequent DLC purchase prices.
So I thought avoiding MEA until at least early 2018 would be easy.
But.....my daughter started her first trilogy playthru. And pestered me daily with requests for hints. I Kind of developed a nostalgia for singularity and biotic charge, for renegade interrupts and courageous Quarian marines(R.I.P. Kal'Reegar), for space Cthulu and even the (super duper troped) angry clone.
Then about a week later, I had a crummy day at work. After dinner, I made myself a cup of chai tea, went into my man-cave, booted up Grim Dawn, went to take a sip from my spicy, frothy, steaming hot mug...
When my kids' psychotic and preposterously clumsy cat jumped up on my stomach, extending claws into my belly for balance. I screamed. The now-terrified cat pushed out his claws still deeper, then jumped upward hitting my still bent arm. I bobbled, then dropped a full mug of steaming hot chai onto my crotch. I screamed again.
An hour later, I had showered, applied antiseptic to the puncture wounds, and was a _little_ bit calmer. I booted up Grim Dawn again, Chai replaced by a bottle of cold beer.
I like beer, especially craft beer. But I come from a family of people with....problematic drinking habits, so I normally limit my intake to <= 2 beers a day. I consume roughly 3 six packs a month.
But I was still in a lot of pain, in some sensitive areas. And the Tylenol seemed to be doing nothing for it. Annnnnd it was a Friday...
I may have consumed more beer over the next several hours than ... prudent.
At some point, I wound up browsing the internet, looking for blogs dedicated to the hatred of cats. The best one I found was an Amazon affiliate...and the blogger appeared to be a video game fan.
And there was a link to for a 20% off pre-order of MEA.
I remember thinking, "Pre-Ordering is always dumb. Even (perhaps especially) from EA/Bioware."
Then I thought, "Well.....this lady's blog has made me feel so much better about hating cats. She'll get a kickback from Amazon if I buy, and she deserves it."
Then I thought, "Dude...be serious. Order something else. These people thought Starchild was a good idea..."
Then I thought, "VANGUARD! Always Be Charging!" and clicked Buy. I went to bed, passed out, and slept for 13 hours.
Eventually, late Saturday evening, I remembered what I had done. I also remembered I could cancel purchases of pre-ordered products with no penalty.
But...the previous night I had watched my daughter push Delores** Shepard up the Citadel Tower, Liara and Garrus in tow. She had talked Saren into killing himself, and agonized over whether to save the Council or preserve the Alliance fleet. (She chose "Save the Council"...she's a good kid with paragon instincts.)
Earlier that afternoon I had watched her scowl when Miranda executes Wilson, and grin broadly (and smugly) when her suspicion mid-mission that Archangel = Garrus proved to be true.
I could not quite bring myself to cancel the order. At least without doing some research that would prove the game would be HORRIBLE.
So I signed up for the doofy "Andromeda Initiative" marketing scheme. Watched the trailers.
And discovered that my Ryder would be able to:
1. use Biotic Charge AND 2. Hit things with a big Hammer
Now I'm not just nostalgic for Mass Effect, but for my Dwarf Warrior from the WOW beta test.
If only Ryder could smack monsters with a rifle butt ala my Hale-voiced SWTOR trooper, it would sound perfect.
So I guess I'm enthusiastic, but still a little unenthusiastic about my enthusiasm, if that makes sense.
I suspect Starchild II is in my future, and that he/she will have droopy bunny ears.
------------
**Yes, my daughter named her first Shepard "Delores". Don't ask.

Some new footage has shown new more exciting things... but it never seems to come without a detractor. For one, it seems this game is going for a slapstick comedy a la Citadel; a la Inquisition type of writing as per Liam's Loyalty video footage. The first time they hit the communicator thing and it shuts off. Funny! I laughed. Second time, also kinda funny. Third time: "Oh, so this is actually just a comedy?". They walk to a door and a turret is blatantly placed right in the opening and they close it and make a "womp-womp-womp" kind of gesture as they walk away. The laughing track was perfect though.

No, you know what, I'm less excited now. I went from "cautiously optimistic" to "lukewarm".
That last footage showed that the game is going to be akin to Guardians of the Galaxy. I like that movie but it isn't Mass Effect. This is supposed to be Mass Effect but BioWare got the wrong signals after Citadel DLC and I've already talked at length in other threads about how I felt one of Inquisition's problems was that it tried to be too funny and endearing expecting to play off of the same successful writing in Citadel DLC but it doesn't work that way. We were all depressed that we were cut off from our Normandy family without a more satisfying resolution and ME3 was such a dark and gloomy game so they gave us a DLC as a last hurrah for the characters you loved and they had earned to allow themselves to make it funny by intent for once.
The stuff in Liam's loyalty mission I just saw? No. Just no, don't do this BioWare. I had enough of that vibe in Inquisition where the game thinks it's being funny but it just feels awkward and cringy and worst of all it undermines the plot completely at times. They wasted too many conversation dialogues in DA:I on being endearing and funny when they should've used them to highlight certain themes about the plot and deepen the central conflicts in the game. They still did that sometimes but they also spent more than enough cutscenes on making slapstick comedy moments and especially in Trespasser I was specifically floored at how pathetic Iron Bull and Josephine's conversations were in terms of humor. It was just unfunny, and apparently they still think this is what their fans wanted (which is true because those on the frontline, you know who you are, laugh without batting an eye at this stuff).
That makes me less excited. It was one specific thing I hoped Andromeda wouldn't do. There were warning signs because they kept saying "more lighthearted" so I had my reservations, but this is first-hand proof that it's going to be lame for prolonged segments and god knows if the main villain will also end up being a goofball and the trailers just try to make it seem like it's actually serious. This is a Marvel Studios plot, not Mass Effect.

Read through the thread and I gathered this: if less than stellar facial animations can turn you off so much in a game that you don't want to continue playing, well, you're playing games for all the wrong reasons.
If you want facial animations go watch Friends.

If you're gonna stare at facial expressions rendered in 3D for a large chunk of a game that lasts possibly 80-100 hours they better look decent or it's going to hurt your impression of the game.
ME123 had bad animations too compared to a lot of things. Who complained? No one (okay a few but nothing crazy). Here, everyone is complaining almost. Youtube comments, BSN, Reddit, NeoGAF, even IGN and other outlets. it's the internet and probably beyond that. That's a sign that it's not up to expectations and should be improved.

If the facial animations are on par with the trilogy, that's fine. I mean, maybe it's not perfect but you just go with it. Kinda like CGI Tarkin in Rebel One. Kinda odd at first, then you get used to it, then accept it. Pretty sure that's how animations in Andromeda will be for me.

Its not just the animations that seem off its those bizar eyes that keeps this from becoming a true next gen experience. You'd expect something like this in 2012 not present day. I think someone on Youtube explained it well that in the previous games, they let Miranda for instance, move around a bit and you didn't notice it as much. Now however they seem to be standing still all the time which makes it come across 'Sims like'

Pretty much the same....as in my excitement level. That trailer music made it dip down a bit, but the trailer itself looked decent. I still think the overall game will be a solid effort. I still think ME games 2 & 3 at this point have stronger character models, but there is no doubt that this game has high production values and the environmental visuals are stunning.

1 - Alright, its a thing that I'm not negative about 2 - You have my curiosity 3 - Now you have my attention 4 - I want it now 5 - I need it now
I was at a 2 for a while, now I'm around 3-4. So no, I'm not a lot more excited, but I do want the game to finally see it.
Depending on how the game goes, my excitement for DLC could become anywhere from 2-5 and excitement for a future game could be anything..
