Timer is needed for that gearless pug who is window shopping in the store looking at packs he can't afford to buy for the next hour while everyone else is ready.

Maybe if there is no timer, vote kicks will happen more.  Vote kicks always make me smile.

The hosts are the damn problem 90% of the time!

I usually get ready for the old host migration if the timer clicks down on them after the other three have readied up.

This I guess is Bioware's way of allowing SP-centric MP haters to "participate" in MP and gain MP rewards without having to actually play MP.

depends on the team you send - they'll level up over time allowing you to send them on more difficult missions

APEX Missions, which are the ST missions that can be played in MP, can be failed and retried. The rest cannot.
