Picked up XCOM2 a few days ago at half price Dang, did I miss a sale? Was eyeing this but not willing to splash out 80 for it. There's been a few add-ons and DLCs added recently. I figured I'll have to wait for a christmas sale or something, if there's such a a thing for this title. Otherwise, I can wait a few years for the price to really drop. * I'm still on Dark and Light. I'm always the early one to log in, for my group, so I'm the one who has to deal with all the 'clean up" and make sure the guild compound is safe. I think the griffins know it's the weekend and they came visiting this morning, hoping for a feast. I've killed so many I lost count. I also played The Pillars of the Earth by Daedalic Entertainment. It's an adventure game based on a historical novel. I've never read it so I don't know the chars nor do I know the story. I don't know how much the decisions / actions I chose to take would impact the ending. It's in three books and I've finished the first book which comes up to 5 hours of gameplay. I enjoyed it, meandered though the choices which I think turned out all right. Also got a bit lost in building terms for a cathedral; what? what? The voice acting is fine. The art isn't bad.

Yeah I played Remember me, it was free on PS+ yonks ago. Pretty fun game. The combo system was quite clever. I think you could buy dlc that opened up more combo slots or options
I've read Pillars of the Earth too. Quite an epic multigenerational book if I remember right, about the building of a cathedral and the lives of the people and their village/town who built it over decades, through wars etc. Its meant to be one of the big famous ones in the UK. I remember enjoying it. The same bloke wrote about Sarum, (Salisbury) from the bronze age through to almost modern times I think. 😊

I think you could buy dlc that opened up more combo slots or options Yeah..."Remember Me" was a decent game and it had impressive visuals...i still thought it's fighting mechanic needed a bit more polishing.....i wouldn't have been mad if they went the "Batman AC" route in terms of fighting style...a bit more smoother and combos would have been more transitional in nature. Too bad we didn't get a sequel..... I do have their follow up "Life is Strange" and i need to finish that at some point...

I recently bought Crusader Kings 2. Good lord does it takes some getting into, and I'm having a real struggle getting to grips with it. Thank God I didn't pay the £130 that the Steam store wants (bagged it online for just over £30, which isn't so bad).

So just beat this game two days ago. I pre-ordered the PS4 version because I'm an old school Sega fan and wanted that Sonic statue on top of a Sega Genesis no matter what. My thoughts on the game? Well, I was let down, what else is new in these post Star Wars The Fanservice Awakens days. "Give. Me. Genesis!"

Soo... Anybody trying open beta Destiny 2?
Aside from the story, the shooting/movement is very nice and the Strike coop mission seems (with few different mechanics) a lot like ME3 match... I played Warlock's Voidwalker class, which can be specced with eerily similar adept-like powers:
Blink dodge = clunkier Teleport dodge, but great nonetheless to get that asari zig-zag movement pattern Vortex Grenade = Singularity Healing Rift = Biotic Bubble / shield spec Nova Bomb [Ultimate power]= literally Dark Sphere
No combos though :/ Guns are great, while the reload speeds seem tragically slow. Worth a try, if only to see the future of mmorpg gaming-as-a-service (and what is Bioware's Anthem probably gonna look like). Anybody got some other tips for classes?

Having completed DA:O I'm on to DA2. It's far from as good as DA:O but some of the core elements like the combat (especially on Nightmare) is a ton of fun. Will probably come back to ME3MP for a while when I'm done with DA2.

With teams, playing these games solo on Nightmare would be to frustrating for me (especially DA2), and I enjoy setting up combos between different clases etc.

Will probably come back to ME3MP for a while when I'm done with DA2. I tend to describe Origin as more tactical combat, with DA2 as more ENGAGING combat. I wont comment on the story and such, as I have a minority opinion on that, but I found that DA:O had more tactical/strategic potential, but DA2 hide the turn based better, making it feel more like an action game (ala DMC, Prototype, etc). Neither is objectively better, just one is more engaging, one is more rewarding planning and forethought (I like both approaches).

Just finished XCOM: Enemy Unknown. It's one of the hundred odd games sitting untouched in my Steam library for a couple of years. I blame ME3MP for taking up almost all my gaming time. Better than the original XCOM: UFO Defense which is a classic.

Soo... Anybody trying open beta Destiny 2? Played it, had some fun, wasn't that impressed though. I expected more I guess. I played Hunter first, then Warlock. I preferred the revolvers and sniper rifle of the Hunter but didn't like the skills too much. Wish they had given you the option to choose your default loadout because I would have enjoyed a Voidwalker Warlock combined with the weapons of the Hunter. Overall I think they should have put a little more effort into classes and skills. And the movement feels sluggish at times. Different classes have different movement or jump mechanics but nothing really felt good. I need more speed, dashes and double jumping for ALL characters. Blink for example never really worked well to a point where I just did not use it because of how unreliable it was. I wish there were more shooters with the awesome movement of Shadow Warrior 2...

Oh man, absolutely... SW2 has the best movement mechanics so far; i actually remapped controls to match my ME3/Andromeda (space for dash, shift for jump) and Wang (with all the speed upgrades) now feels like Cabal on host and steroids, zipping and slicing through the enemies... Really really great. Btw, seeing that you appreciate fast combat, have you tried Lawbreakers? From what I gathered, it should be phenomenal movement-wise, though I can't justify its high price and dwindling player base; perhaps it'll go f2p soon. And yeah, Destiny does feel sluggish, but after SW2, what doesn't.

Btw, seeing that you appreciate fast combat, have you tried Lawbreakers? From what I gathered, it should be phenomenal movement-wise, though I can't justify its high price and dwindling player base; perhaps it'll go f2p soon. I haven't tried Lawbreakers. It never really impressed me with any of the material I saw during development. I have watched some reviews and none of the reviewers were really happy with the game and I could totally understand why (as in: the stuff they said made sense). It doesn't seem to be a bad game, just not a particular good one either. The dwindling playerbase is also a concern. Unfortunately I don't have much time for gaming this year and still have quite a lot of (older) stuff to play. Also, I'm not into competitive gaming anymore - when I was back in the day I played Counter-Strike (the original one) in leagues and tournaments. I also enjoyed playing Quake and UT (but for fun, not playing leagues/ladders). Which brings me to my final point about Lawbreakers: BAD TIMING -> A new Unreal Tournament is in the making with support from the players and Quake Champions is also around the corner. The market for arena shooters is pretty small nowadays and I think Lawbreakers just isn't good enough (judging from what I have seen and heard so far) to stand a good chance against the two heavyweights Quake and UT. I might be wrong though... And yeah, Destiny does feel sluggish, but after SW2, what doesn't. I sometimes think about SW2 and I'm like "I had so much fun with you, but you pretty much ruined every other shooter for me."

Nice, I actually went and bought DAO and DA2 a couple weeks ago as well (DAI was my first and only Dragon Age game, and I loved it). About halfway through DA2 now. Really liked DAO- good story, good characters, really enjoyable even with the super dated graphics and wonky combat. DA2 is a step down in terms of the story and world (at least so far,) but the combat is really fun, as you say. I think I may like the skills/skill trees/companion specializations in DA2 best of any DA title, including Inquisition, tbh.

Currently dipping into Saints Row IV:Re-elected why I didn't play these games before I don't know, but they are so rude, so goofy and so fun! They really make me laugh. (Gat outta hell got me hooked) I'm loving pottering around in this one. It's so enjoyable to even just drive around in my blinged-up car listening to the in-game soundtrack. I chose my character to be voiced by Nolan North so the swearing and un-PC dialogue is hysterical. And one of my side-kicks is voiced by none other than Anderson of the MET you even get the option to try and 'romance him' It's so daft.

It's the naughty little brother of the GTA franchise which is saying a lot .
Personally, I think the Saints Row games have remained more true to that daft game style. I was a little dissapointed back when GTA IV was released and you had to play "the good guy"...
