Playing Doom (2016) atm Im very impressed by the pacing graphics and fluidity of the campaign game play. From what i gather of reviews is that the multi play was outsourced to another company and sucks as much as the ME-game-that-shall-not-be-named review

It's not hard to get where you're going quickly when the entire game takes place in a tiny, re-used environment. I solo'd my way through the story with the Storm, and have soloed two out of the 4 Strongholds on Grandmaster, and I have to say, the game really provides no incentive to keep playing. It is easy, repetitive, and recycled. I have less than 100 hours, and there's pretty much absolutely nothing but RNG grind for better rolls on items left. Which would be fine, if there was variation in environment and enemies. I have no idea how you have managed to put in over 1,000 hours without burning out. I don't think the environment is tiny. If you had to walk all that or ride it on a horse or something it would be quite a long way. That being said, of course the world could and should grow, but I absolutely love the scenery. And it's not about beating the game. It's more about having fun with the gameplay, getting better gear and cranking up those damage numbers, doing leaderboard challenges or speedruns with others. You gotta like these kind of games of course. And yes, more content would be great but I just like fucking shit up all the time, especially soloing. We need higher difficulties now though and I'm looking forward to the overhaul of the loot, crafting and inscription mechanics. But as far as enjoying the gameplay goes I'm having a blast with each of my current 5 builds (even though 2 are lacking the proper components a bit). And by the way: Isn't ME3MP basically repetitive as hell as well with the same 10 rounds all the time. Yet a lot of players manage to play it for thousands of hours without burning out. Heck, some speedrunners play the same games for decades without burning out First of all, you should try Waframe. Free to Play, with significantly more content and variation than Anthem, and I cannot help but compare them, and find Anthem significantly lacking in the comparison. Warframe has two areas of similar size to Anthem's map, that contains both generic encounters and missions (much like Anthem), and raid-level bosses (some might try to claim that Titans or Stronghold bosses in Anthem should count, but in my mind, they do not, they're simplistic bullet sponges with no real difficulty and very minimal danger). Then there's the entire Star Map, which has about a half dozen different tilesets, with randomly generated maps. And the newly added Railjack System which.... is not very good, imho. Secondly, in comparison to ME3MP, there's even LESS variation in Anthem than in Andromeda, and THAT was significantly less than ME3MP, which itself is no stalwart paragon of content. There are people who can spend the entire evening playing one faction on one map on ME3MP, I'm not one of them, and find it very difficult to understand them. I need SOME variation to keep my interest. In short: 4 characters, one map, 3 factions, two of which are virtually identical, and have half their units copy pasted. Most of time, Outlaws and Dominion play out exactly the same. Only Skorpions are different, and THOSE are just generic animal fodder. I don't think anybody here can honestly compare content level between of ME3MP to Anthem and have them even remotely close.

I don't think anybody here can honestly compare content level between of ME3MP to Anthem and have them even remotely close. I've played Warframe and it does a few thing every good that Anthem should do. Keep in mind though this game is 6 or 7 years old now and during the first 1 or even two years it was basically not a very good game and along the way the overhauled some stuff completely. One of the main problems with Warframe for me personally is that it pretty much looks like shit. It puts me off so much. It's not because it's "old" but everything just looks like plastic and... I don't know, just can't get into it anymore. But yes, it does a lot of things (not all) right that Anthem should copy. There's enough variety for me to keep playing. My different builds play very differently and while I like more diversity it's certainly there - the imbalance of the abilities is a bit of a problem though as some builds are just clearly better than others. Also the RNG with the inscriptions and rolls is too much of a problem. But it's not like I play this 10 hours every day. I do a few solos, play the dailies, maybe do a challenge run when I get a good team. We had so much fun with Cataclysm for example, thinking about new ways to do things, switching event orders and routing, maximizing the score farming and such. At times we were just talking in discord for several hours about things. And yes, I am one of those people who can play the entire evening with just a Drell on the same map vs. the same faction. I didn't do it very often, but I can. I'm an optimizer... getting a few seconds off a run if we aim for something or getting 10k points more combo damage or something can keep my occupied. Styling my javelins and mixmatching armor parts, materials and color schemes can keep my busy as well. While Outlaws and Dominion are a bit similar they each have their pros and cons. There's scars as well. Not saying I wouldn't welcome more variety and additional factions. But I don't see why they shouldn't add new enemy types or different factions at some point. I mean they did in ME3MP as well. Not everything was there from the beginning. Most things weren't in fact. The thing is: they could work on new stuff pretty much right away while in Anthem they need to keep making money, getting some kind of events and challenges out while working on a big overhaul at the same time. But I don't think you can move to new offices and employ a team of around 100 people to work on a game you don't plan to overhaul and support for longer. But in the end all I care about is that I'm having a blast playing the game and that's worth it for me to keep playing.

The only thing I'd like to add at this point (also, not surprised that you've played Warframe, I thought it might be up your alley), is that after the "support" period for Andromeda, I just find it difficult to get my hopes up for the future of Anthem, BioWare seems to have entered the abandon stuff before it costs too much money phase, I have grave doubts about their future as a whole.

I am enjoying the hell out of Dark Souls right now. I'm about 20 hours in and don't really know where I'm supposed to go, but that seems to be the point as it's all up to me, and it's glorious. There's no mini map, no real map, no hand holding, no undoing points when you level up, and I love it. I accidentally pissed a dude off and had to kill him so that's how I learned to roll into barrels to break that shit I'm finally getting used to the combat, the only things still giving me some issues are (for whatever reason) backstabbing during combat and timing my perrys (sp?) correctly. On a personal note, fuck the Capra Demon. scratch that, fuck those two dogs that are in with the Capra Demon. There's some stuff that pisses me off, but that's been few and far between so far. It feels great beating bosses and mini bosses, especially if it's taken a few tries.

Parrying in DS is something hard to learn, but very satisfying. As for the bosses, just wait to face Dragonslayer Ornstein & Executioner Smough and some other chaps. In DS2 all bosses are easy or almost. In DS3 there are some great bosses and the hardest in the series IMO.

too tired most of the days for anyting that requires focus so opted for a change of pace
quite a neat little thing, very atmospheric and moody as it should be. prior lovecraftian knowledge not mandatory. goodly recommend.
ah, also downloading Metro: Exodus now it's back on steam as i speak. and it'd better not have that crepic launcher wrapped underneath steam's own overlay (looking at your ESO) or i'll scream

Just finished "Limbo"....really late with that one, but i liked the dark oppressive atmosphere and the gameplay, while simple was a fun structured gaming mechanic. Some of the puzzles frustrated me, but i was interested to see this "boy" find his sister in this twisted dark realm....the ending, even tho somewhat depressing was left open to interpretation. Both "Inside" and "Limbo" are great side-scrollers to experience....

Despite having my steam full of games, I didn't yet play, because sales are so much fun, I bought Stardew Valley for my tablet. Already played it on the computer, but needed it for travels. I have to say that the game is so incredibly addictive. My arm always hurts, because I play too long. Thinking about divorce, to whore myself a bit through the little city. Lovely game.

My annual binge of ME2... Ahhh ME2....one of my fav's of all time....when i first played that game i didn't know what to expect (ME2 came out on PS3)...but man i was blown away by how mature the story was and how dark the entire reaper/collector event unfolded.....great characters developments, great writing..unique characters.....it all blended so very well and that suicide mission?.... ...on my first playthrough, i did everything i could to make sure nobody died...i'm talking sweaty palms nervous.... ....that is a sign of great writing and suspense building towards the climax of the game.... People rag on ME3 for the endings, but that game was a blast to play through as well.....those scenes with Mordin and Legion?.... ....man those were some tear-jerkers the first time through and the entire journey just felt so hopeless and desperate...Sheperd and the crew was taking a loss after devastating loss and the Reapers was just unrelentless in their onslaught......one of my favorite characters in 3 was EDI....i loved her growth as an A.I. character.....her relationship with joker was kinda hokey, but she has some great dialogue when you speak with her in how she tries to understand human emotions and the like.... getting a bit carried away here..lol..but MUCH RESPEC` Doc...i love ME2....

Ahhh ME2....[...]on my first playthrough, i did everything i could to make sure nobody died... Mordin died in mine and I felt truly bad. Later, of course, I did everything I could to make sure EVERYBODY died. Got the min (3 if I recall?) surviving "success", and also the everybody dies FAIL, LOL. While I won't defend the ending (especially the original), I still feel this is one of the biggest internet game overreactions of all time. 95% of the game was stellar. The last 30 minutes (I'd argue it went downhill from the time you beamed up to the Citadel), not so much. But nowhere near enough to undo all the great feelings I had before that ... ... and yeah, that Mordin end was killer. Legion was a gut punch. And while I usually try all the permutations, you can't pay me to subject Tali to that. What am I playing? Anthem. It is nowhere near as bad as internet lets on. $5 extremely well spent.

I've also dabbled with Assassins Creed: Origins which I quite like, but I'm also quite liking Rise Of The Tomb Raider at the minute.
Having said that, the controls can be a wee bit crap, reminding me of when I got the original TR when it came out and how I had to restrain myself from throwing the Playstation across the room because she never moved where she was supposed to and died ridiculous numbers of times
Damn, that was annoying.

I just mess about on my own That's exactly what I did, right through the whole story, and a few levels of the post-game I think I played like two matches with PUGs, and otherwise just ignored the shit out of everybody.
