ARE PEOPLE BEING OVERLY CRITICAL

I think this kinda hits home to what is underlying in the animation furor.

"If you can't make people's eyes and faces work, what is the rest of the craftsmanship in the game like?" sentiment. Like, good animations should be pretty basic standard in a AAA title. If the game can't get that right, what about the rest of the game?

And after my access trail, that's a legit concern for me.

Does anyone know if they used facial motion capture or if its all hand animated? That makes a huge difference in quality

MEA has facial motion capture, in contrast the Witcher 3 which has objectively superior facial animations is hand animated.

Also "How did you guys manage to make a PC copy that was optimized worse than DAI?"

I'm basically running their exact recommended rig (a pinch nicer actually), and I'm having to constantly reboot. Want to adjust graphical settings? Reboot the game. Did your sound just de-sync? Reboot the game. Did an enemy get stuck in the floor, spinning in a circle and become impervious to damage and now you can't finish the level because until the enemy is dead the next trigger won't happen? Reboot the game.

naw doge i disagree i do not believe people are being over critical i believe bioware has set them selves up for this by not testing the game more and working with people outside the office that wont just turn their eyes away from blatantly glaring issues that are being discussed here. Bioware used to make amazing games with way better animations and story with just the right amount of filler quests to make things come full circle, i feel now a days the ball has been dropped and shattered into 1 million pieces of unforgivable BullS*** and then expect us to pay 60-100$ for a game that i feel was no tested commercially or other wise (like idk let people secretly play the Alpha lock those who play the alpha with a press agreement and do in depth testing and feedback...which by the way i feel as tho most bioware games they make now a days do not do any kind of field testing like that and are kept all in house as it was....and i feel like that all started back with DA 2 and ME3's ending)I honestly feel like that they just stuck a team together who all just graduated with a college degree and had no clue of what they were doing gave it to the person who owned the Mass effect licenses and said here make anther mass effect game good luck....

LA Noire started using mocap for facial movments back in the day and games like uncharted and the last of us have used it as well to great effect

I'm glad you clarified, and yeah, animations across the board need work. I just wonder who is vetting that stuff like who saw it and said yep this is good! Or is this truly the best bioware can do in five years because if that's the case they need to out source or hire (and subsequently fire) some new people. I get time constraints but that just means you have to make the rest of the game make up for it (which in my opinion it does).

It amazes me that people still go to IGN for reviews. Like what is this the early 2000s? haven't people heard of twitch or youtubers? Thank god for twitch allows you to see the game unedited and form your own opinions, just maybe close chat on the larger channels.
