God I loved Alpha Protocol... not gonna lie, the hawaiian shirt and tramp beard is half the reason I'm in love with AP. Seriously though, I think it goes to show how good storytelling and characters can overcome technical issues for a lot of people. I wish AP is revived one day.

And this is why DAI was a fail for me (except Tresspasser). It was technically proficient for the most part, but some very odd design and player quality of life decisions, coupled with lack of emphasis on proper story and character devlopment killed it for me. And the total lack of any detailed attention to side narrative put the nail in the coffin. I don't play BW games for an OCD collecathon, and I sincerely hope that MEA hasn't followed the same formula. It's a deal breaker for me.

Alpha protocol is the game i've played the most iin my life. 14 playthrough and i've finished them all...

So i' ok with this saying

I caved and re-installed the game on my PC (I got a physical copy which I bought Day 1)

Took a few minutes to find a site with an updated download link for the 1.1 patch.

Scarlet has shot me more than once

The gameplay in AP is good. It is not a shooter. If you try and play it as a shooter you will have a bad time. Play it stealth and pistol and the game and its mechanics are great. The game is an RPG not a shooter. Your accuracy is based on skill points not your ability to point the sights on an enemy.

Edit: Also very glad to see I inspired people to go back and play AP! One of my fav games ever. Was so sad about how much critics and gamers craped all over it.

After I'd seen a lot of comment claiming that ME;A should somehow apologize for ME3 ending, I would say that valid criticism is not so common.
And even when they are valid critism those are blown out of proportion. I mean we know the colonial official has no animation at all and it is extremly disturbing, but after seen tens of video showing this again and again it becomes old quickly.

There is probably something else to do in the game than talking to one particular npc.

She won't if you have a higher influence with her, or if you fight against Westridge (which I do.)

Plus, I start with SIE. I just dump her for Scarlet. 

Whoo! Autograph! Can't completely hate a game that has the absolute cajones to use "Turn Up the Radio" for a boss fight.

I kinda had an epiphany with all this Alpha Protocol talk. I fucking love janky-ass AAA releases! This gives me more hope of enjoying MEA in the end. ME1 is in many ways my favorite original Mass Effect game and in no small part due to just how unabashedly it featured barren environments with repeated assets just to deliver quests and atmosphere. I loved AP because it has a smart plot with some really silly humor here and there and great dialogue mechanics and I fucking loved Deadly Premonition which is one of the craziest things to ever be a thing in gaming.
