Avela Kjar (Official Thread)

Not even a romance.
You can flirt with her, and she gives you a kiss and tells you she is far too busy to be romantic with you as of right now. That is literally as far as her romance goes. Was very disappointed by this.

I think Avela would be a really cool DLC companion. Or something like Harding in jaws of hakkon for those who played DAI/The DLC

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I don't know, Avela seems to have a lot of potential and we hear she used to go searching for the artifacts on her own. It certainly would be an easy fit and she's really interesting.

Scott has 1 straight option in Cora.
Avela hardly counts as a damn romance, since all you do is get a kiss for running all over the galaxy to find some old space junk for her.

Meanwhile straight gals get Jaal and Liam.(no one cares about poor Liam though)

Yeah, I love her character and her pseudo-romance was sweet. I wouldn't be surprised if in the event we continue with Ryder she joins the crew in the sequel.

I've finally been allowed into the city in Aya, after taking a break for a few days. Gah, she's just so damn adorable!! Really wish she was an option for Sara. Although I think my poor Ryder is gonna get herself in enough trouble with all the flirting she's doing.

To have a fun hypothetical discussion, I'm curious what everyone would think Avela would be like if she became a part of the team in the next game.
Would she be a crewmember or a squadmate?
If a squadmate, what kind of armor would she have equipped and what would it look like? What kind of weapon would she use? What kind of abilities would she have?
If a crewmember, what would be her skills?
Overall, how would she get along with the current team? What would her personal quest be? 
Etc.

I see her as more likely to be a crewmember than squadmate if they do this as well, but her being a curator is a new thing for her. Before, she did essentially what we do for her in MEA: go out to sites and dig up artifacts. So I can see them saying she has a bit of training in how to fight. Plus she has friends in the Resistance that may have taught her a few things too. 
As a crewmember, I agree I think she would be useful when it comes to understanding the Jaardan since she has studied ancient angara and Remnant stuff. She even figures out that the angara only have a history of about a millennium through the artifacts she has looked through around the time we discover that on Khi Tasira. 
I like your idea regarding a personal quest. 

That would be funny. They could have a professional rivalry when it comes to trying to figure out the Remnant and Jaardan. I also think it would be funny with Jaal if he isn't romanced because according to banter on Aya he has a crush on Avela but she didn't realize it. It'd be funny to see him try to flirt with her like he does PeeBee and Cora, but she is oblivious and immune to it unlike the others. 

As an anthropology degree holder, I personally love going across multiple planets looking for Angaran relics, but it definitely stinks that the only romance options for our Ryders are only available as straight. #PrettyGoodBanging #IfYoureStraight
