I'm new to these reviews, so I have to ask. I see most of negatives are about technical issues, do the reviewers edit their reviews after a couple of patches have been released or stay like that? For example - if somebody didn't have the time and decides to play the game after a month/two and the game has been patched a lot since release, but see all these negative reviews, it will probably back him off the game. So, do they edit them, write new, or just leave it like that? What?

> Score 7(0) out of 10(0) > mediocre Pick one. 1-5/10 scores just don't happen, especially not with triple A games. It's currently 73 on metacritic, which is substantially lower than similar games and much lower than any other Bioware game. It's practically a death sentence for the series if the score goes under 70.

Has any review focused on anything else besides the tech issue? Some mentioned the problems with the writing and the game not catching the Mass effect feelings. Eh I'd have to disagree with them on that one, the prologue felt like Mass Effect to me Plus Drack

And the up side, it's getting about the same scores as Beauty and the Beast and I thought the movie was great sooooo Movie reviews are even more assbackwards than game reviews. The scores can't be compared. My post wasn't meant to be serious, Dutch. Cmon man

Yeah I enjoyed Inquisition. Sure it's not DAO fantastic, but it was a great 8/10. I even managed to replay most of it since I lost my saves. Intend to do all the dlc one day. It had it's issues, but did more than enough to stand out on its own. The trip through the storm and seeing your castle for the first time is extremely memorable.
I also fondly remember Iron Bull and Dorian up there with the DAO cast. Varric can come too, it's not your fault your awesome and DA2 was made on a shoestring budget.

Now we know why the BSN was nuked. Damage control. If the reviews are any indication this is technically flawed and mediocre game. The BSN was nuked because we trashed the joint. The apparent fall out if any would have been unavoidable these days with or without the BSN.

Why is everyone talking like their prom date blew some random jock in the washroom? Its not the end of the world. Dont let a "professional review" impair your ability to make your own decision.

> Score 7(0) out of 10(0) > mediocre Pick one. For a video game seven out of ten is not good and it's getting lower than that from a lot of places. Now it could be that it is suffering from bugs, trilogy nostalgia and the current negative climate around the game but if it was truly great I think it would still have gotten great reviews. Even Inquisition managed to get decent reviews, this is bad. Since when is everyone thinking like IGN? 7 out of 10 is still good, even 6 is passable towards good. Are gamers that so damn picky with unrealistic standards these days that I missed? Also DA:I had amazing scores and was GOTY game, but for some reason way after it's released it became hated. Out of the blue. The bipolar attitude of gaming communities is getting on my nerves.

Bioware had 5 years. If the end product feels disappointing and unpolished that is entirely on them and not EA. Well this is the team that did Omega Hopefully they can fully patch that mess They didn't patch Aria scene. Which I'm still bothered by and it certainly did affect my view of Bioware Montreal (whether they deserved it or not).

I remember when DA:I got 9's across the board only for me to call it the most disappointing Bioware game I have ever played. I played 10 hours of MEA and I just want more. These scores aren't going to sway my opinion, I'm still going to enjoy the hell out of this game.

It isn't a bad score but it is well below expectations for a Mass Effect game. If the reviews are any indication, this is the worst game in the series. I'm pretty sure that spot still goes to ME1, which was a subpar game even for it's time but got overblown due to being released in right time in right place. MEA from allll the stuff I've seen, I'll enjoy more than ME1. Even all those 'classic characters' and 'classic plots' and 'classic systems' will all be better in MEA, even if maybe only marginally so. Its just that they're not gonna beat out ME2 in some big aspects, and they frankly, as we know, tried to avoid being compared to ME3 in most ways but like, combat and whatever. So far it goes, until I play and finish MEA: 1)ME2/ME3 (depending on how I view the ending/story of ME3) 2)ME2/ME3 3)MEA 4)ME1 Maybe MEA, especially after updates, can get more around a #2 spot, but I'm no longer presuming a #1.

Yep 7-8 as I felt when I played and when I watched further footage (with upper ranges 8-9, lower skeptical views like Gamespot 6-7). This means that if they can fix up the game and not let it languish, and do quality and improved DLC, I'll consider it a 8-9 by the end and be happy. But this is ONLY because I'm a patient one to give it a chance. Objectively, the ratings so far are NOT GOOD and Bioware needs to take a damn hard look at itself. This is no GOTY. It isn't even going to be a fantastic game when I play. But I will HOPE that things shape up and it becomes a game near and dear to me in up to a years' time or so from now. Absolutely. I've read a few of the reviews...I keep going back to IGN (they posted the final Cora romance scene...if you see their Ryder, you can instantly tell what they thought of the game...they were trolling) because Bioware was using THEM to promote their title, and IGN was quick to strike once the embargo was up. Really, in the end, this comes down to the guys at the top...odd phrasing, but true. Aaron Flynn first. He made the calls. They announced the game too early, let the hype build to the point of unrealistic expectations, teased but REFUSED to reveal an significant information until near release, and did little to ease the fears of the fans. They were insanely nonchalant about their release. Sure, THEY were excited, but we had no idea why. 'Oh, you're going to LOVE this...but we can't tell you what that is...you'll just have to...OH THAT WAS AMAZING...wish you could have seen it, sorry, just wait, trust us...SSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNNN.' Honestly, this game looks a bit rushed. Unpolished...once I get my hands on it tomorrow, I'll know more, but the thing is...had this game come out LAST YEAR...it might have been a point higher. Had the game NOT been announced TWO YEARS (or more) in advance, I think it'd be an 8.5 average...but this was NEVER, EVER going to score a 9. Reviewers and part of the fanbase are NEVER going to let the ending of ME3 go. In a time when people are being unfriended, and blocked because of differences in political opinions, we have people threatening rape and murder upon game developers and participants due to perceived slights that have gone WAY beyond the personal. So, I also hope this is an ice cold shower for Bioware before EA punts them and takes the franchise for themselves. They CAN do better...they SHOULD do better. Lets see if they have the will to do so. This is Mass Effects 'DAII Moment'. Fingers crossed. Also, they REALLY should stop trying to ape the Witcher. They are what they are...TRYING to be the other won't work. Just be Mass Effect.

Out of the blue. The bipolar attitude of gaming communities is getting on my nerves. I'm not saying it's a good system, it's a stupid system and one of the many reasons I don't actually read these sites. They inflate all their scores because they are scared of losing favor with big development companies. This is the same reason why they praised DA:I and ME3 when in reality neither was received that well and Inquisition won GOTY because it's best competition was Bayonetta 2. I liked both games but they both had massive problems that the reviews did not reflect. Critics have just realised that blindly praising Bioware does them no favors, it's a shame they haven't realised that about a lot of other companies but that's life. Non of this has to affect your enjoyment of the game but these are not good scores, they aren't even average scores really, not for Bioware.

So, do they edit them, write new, or just leave it like that? Generally, no. Kotaku would be the only one I think that would if there was a dramatic difference. Either way, Metacritic has a policy against counting revised reviews. So it wouldn't help the Metacritic score any, which is something that publishers stupidly care about (it doesn't matter what anyone tells you, number ratings are too subjective and ultimately unhelpful, especially what with the industry's weird grading curve).

> Score 7(0) out of 10(0) > mediocre Pick one. Mediocre for the series and for Bioware games. Good for gaming in general. But not the Very Good/Great/Excellent I'm sure EA wanted. They have potential to fix and add to the game to make it one of the first two of that list. I hope they don't just drop the game/series but instead get right to work.

Heck, even this very forum has a thread from the lead game designer asking for feedback pinned. If that isn't a sign bioware could actually use the forum they nuked, I don't know what is.

So, do they edit them, write new, or just leave it like that? If the game is big enough, we can get stuff like: 1)DLC reviews that may note changes to the game since 2)Features that remark on the changes, but not a review 3)MAYBE a new edition review; so Bioware could theoretically really package everything next year into some edition that they convince publications to review like its almost a new title(?)
