Probably nothing can save the animation anymore, but I wouldn't mind a change like this: Ugly faces are nothing new to Bioware, anyone still remembers Avelline from DA2? She was awful! I don't know what they were thinking here, but the mod improved her so much. It was a must have. DAI could be modded (besides some problems with the Tresspasser DLC), so can we optimistically expect lots of overhauls for this game as well? And regarding the CC, you could make some really beatiful presets with the help of some mods, comparing a vanilla preset with modded: The beauty of this preset is unreal to me. It truly shines a delicate elven feel of innocence and beauty. While the vanilla options like the one at top are just.. so bad I just don't know what to say. Threre was nothing in the vanilla game that could come even close to this. Since the dawn of time pretty much all Bioware faces used to look like someone put a foot in them. They did make some good ones in ME3 which was a surprise to me, tough.

Yes mods will improve it at least for textures (we don't know are moders can made gameplay mechanic mods (like changing weapons for squad mates)

I don't recall how long it took for DAI mods to take off, but they probably should have a head start since it's the same engine? I hope.

I'm not tech savy but I think there is a significant difference between animating and photoshopping. Again, not tech savy.
Also, disagree about Aveline. I thought she was wonderful and her appearance fitted her character. People can mod as they like but I personally don't see how the modded appearance would fit Aveline's personality so I'm always sticking to her canonical look.

I agree that Aveline looks just fine in her un-modded look.

We can even crank up the settings even more... but we can't change the writing and voice acting.

First mods will be texture changes. The rest depends on how flexible the engine is. But looking at DAI, I wouldn't get my hopes up too much.

I don't think mods are needed to save anything. Enhance it, maybe. But it doesn't need rescuing in my opinion.
I liked Aveline. It suited her story and background. She wasn't meant to be beautiful. Yay for diverse looks in games.

I'll be really happy with the texture changes, ME3 did not need it at all, but this game really needs some fixes to the characters, just looking at the example there is so much potential.

People can mod as they like but I personally don't see how the modded appearance would fit Aveline's personality so I'm always sticking to her canonical look. Aveline's appearance suited her character perfectly. She was sort of a DA version of Brienne of Tarth, not a beauty queen. Isabela even pokes fun at her appearance (calling her masculine), so she's supposed to be someone a little on the homely side. People can mod whatever they like of course, but the modded appearance doesn't fit how the character was written.

What's wrong with vanilla Sarah? Quite large lips but still OK. The eyes are a thing, but I guess that is a global problem.

TBH the title was made to be a bit click-baity, it's just sort of a modern thing on the internet to do these days, I think. Title like this gets a lot more views than something like "can we expected mods like NPC overhauls anytime soon?" I agree with you but I really wanted to hear more thoughts on the subject.

Hm... depends on how numerous and skilled the modders will be that bother to get in there. Textures are relatively easy to fix in FB, lighting can be tempered with too, but (especially face) animations? I doubt it...

Just because you dislike the facial animations and think they are a problem that ruins the entire game and it needs to be saved from it, doesn't mean everyone feels that way. Frankly if my problem with the game is wonky animations I much rather have that problem then other issues such as the ones we saw in Mass Effect 3 or Dragon Age: Inquisition.

As I said I think nothing can save the animation, I don't even expect BW to tamper with it, it is done. I am just hoping for some nice visual NPC improvements at least, I just hear there's many bad ones (I didn't play yet) and was one of the very valid complaints about the game.

The problem is that Photoshop is not the same as building a face in-game.
I recall David Gaider made a similar point, just because you show me a picture of hair is not the same as programming it.

Well, I'm not convinced any saving is needed, but going by DAI and one of the most voiced complaints about MEA; Yes, to some degree. Animations are probably beyond the scope of modding, but the limited options in the CC is something modders might be able to do something about.

As far as textures go, yes, that will be doable. The problem is besides the eyes and solidity of hair colors there's nothing wrong with the textures. Sure we will have retexes that will be more flavor than a general fix for complaints. It's kind of depressing for me because while I like realistic and immersive options sometimes I just want to be sexy even if it doesn't make sense. So OP don't expect anything better than the DAI mod scene currently is. I just wish some genius out there would be able to mod in a CC like black desert online's is that too much to ask for?

Hope so.
While i dont think there will be as many mods as say Skyrim due to the engine, i do hope we get better textures (Hair, human faces) and face maps to makes characters look better.
