I do hope something will be done about the eyes, either by Bioware or the mod community. It seems like a relatively small thing with a big impact on how we connect with characters. I'm no developer though, so no idea if this is some huge technical undertaking given the state of the game/engine. At the very least I hope they fix the CC. I haven't seen a single male Ryder creation I liked so far, and I dislike the default face too (helmet always on here i come? )

If this was a Bethesda game, I could see it possibly getting "saved" by mods, but that's only because how massive their modding scene is and how relatively easy their games are to mod. EA doesn't really support modding, and neither is the engine particularly easy to mod. Mods couldn't save Fallout 4's horrible dialogue

All of those are textures and hair mods and they all require you to have meshes on ultra to see them(so SoL low to mid end users). I would say that frostbite has rightfully earned it's reputation as not mod friendly. I don't think editing meshes them selves will even be possible and making hair mods takes a lot of time (at least from what I remember). If you look at other games, especially RPGs, frostbite is not mod friendly.

Maybe we need a helmet ALWAYS on mod then (even in the bedroom). Roleplaying Ryder as The Mask in Space.

They are Square Enix and Japan doesn't have a shortage of talented designers, concept artist. If you take Square Enix, Kojima Productions and compare them to the rest, of course the rest would look like scrubs And Lunafreya is not even in game most of the time

Mods couldn't save Fallout 4's horrible dialogue Well, true enough I suppose, but they did improve the game significantly. At least when it comes to various technical and gameplay aspects.
I know that mods are the only reason I played that game for 400-500 hours.
Could never get invested into Fallout 4 as I did with previous ones, even the mods seemed lacking compared to Fallout New Vegas. Let's hope Bethesda does better with the next Elder Scrolls

Nothing to "save". Most of the actual gamers who've played it enjoyed it. [Citation needed] Certainly some people like it, but saying most might be a bit of a stretch. The reviews from those who got their hands on it, both professional and amateur, are decidedly mixed. What is an actual gamer, anyway? That sounds like the No True Scotsman argument.

I don't think texture mods will be nearly as important as meshes. If the actual shape (as opposed to the skin covering) of the faces can't be tweaked, then the people who have problems with the faces will still have a problem. I mean sure, new normal maps will do wonders, but changing the jawlines will need some serious polygon work.

It is miles better to start with than the DA:I imo. But even in DA:I imo the mods were only necessary if you intended to make an LI more appealing to your personal taste (and, yes, I did mod appearances of 3 male companions with an intention to see if I'd like to romance one of them, because prior to it, it was pretty much "I'd rather die alone or re-roll a male") proposition).
In either games, mods to make an appealing protagonist is an overkill, because customization is fairly flexible. In DA:I you can get something between the 4 species, in ME:A they can be made to look imo rather awesome (even if there is no slider galore).
Some QoL mods will obviously be very welcome (like faster looting or no timer war table). But when trespasser broke all of the mods... well, the DA:I was still playable. And the mods that tried to go further, well, they did not work, because animations and dialogue additions were pretty much impossible to do well. Solas diving into my Qunari's bosom was not the pinnacle of romantic moments.
And from what I see told about ME:A, it is a more playable game to start with, with far more appealing appearances for both the protagonist and the LIs, so mods will be a nice to have rather than a have to have...

Reviewers want to get views and likes. They often say what's popular and the internet eats it up. Right now, it's popular to hate on Andromeda. Actual gamers though, have nothing to gain from repeating popular opinions. And actual gamers seem to like the game. Or maybe those giving it unfavorable reviews just didn't like it? Opinions from fans who got early access to the game are just as mixed as the reviewers. I doubt most, regardless of where they fall on discussion of the game's quality, are giving anything other than honest feedback. Who are these "actual gamers?" What exactly constitutes a true gamer? Again, that's the No True Scotsman fallacy.

I agree that Aveline looks just fine in her un-modded look. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. That's really surprising to me. Well, I guess it is. To me Aveline Improved just looks like Hawke. I've seen mods that were truer to her actual features. But anyway. Dragon Age has tool sets though from DAO, and replacing heads was easy enough as they were just in the folders as their own files (I've done it).... Hence the new features are possible. As stated already with Mass Effect you are dependent on textures for faces OR having a tool to overwrite the game's files. There HAS been mods made for Mass Effect like new hair and face textures and even outfits in ME2 and 3, which dramatically change your character. But that takes some time and it's a new engine. So hmmm.. Also it only helps the PC users ><;;; Honestly why can't this be as solid as DAI? I can't believe I'm starting to prefer that game and it's horrid hair choices. But wait.... *breathe* It's not Tuesday yet..

I doubt most, regardless of where they fall on discussion of the game's quality, are giving anything other than honest feedback. Who are these "actual gamers?" What exactly constitutes a true gamer? Again, that's the No True Scotsman fallacy. Based on the polls I've seen and listed, and based on my personal opinion of the trial, gamers seem to enjoy it a lot more than not. But seeing as how you didn't include the polls when you quoted me, maybe you didn't bother looking at them? I've also already covered what I think about reviewers vs. actual gamers: reviewers are out to get clicks and likes. Yes, there may be some honesty to their reviews, but they get paid when people look at their reviews...it's beneficial for them to say controversial yet popular things. Gamers however, have nothing to gain by saying one thing or another...therefore I typically prefer reviews from actual gamers, not paid reviewers. Now I'm not saying the game is not without flaws, I'm just saying I feel a lot of the complaints are being blown way out of proportion. There's also the problem of self-fulfilling prophecies: the popular thing to say right now is Andromeda sucks...people see that and start believing Andromeda sucks before they've even tried it...they try it, and focus on all the negative stuff they've read in reviews and decide that Andromeda does indeed suck. That's why I'll be happy when the game finally releases so people can stop all the speculating and try the game for themselves before they read too many negative reviews, making them unable to give the game an honest chance. Here are those polls again btw. Try looking at them this time. Seems like gamers, for the most part, like the game: bsn.boards.net/thread/5598/light-mixed-reviews-order-cancelledbsn.boards.net/thread/5410/love-hours-mea-early-accessbsn.boards.net/thread/5189/all-players-give-own-scorebsn.boards.net/thread/5459/buying-mass-effect-andromeda

Just because you dislike the facial animations and think they are a problem that ruins the entire game and it needs to be saved from it, doesn't mean everyone feels that way. Frankly if my problem with the game is wonky animations I much rather have that problem then other issues such as the ones we saw in Mass Effect 3 or Dragon Age: Inquisition. My OP wasn't about animations at all, but how characters looked. Sorry my bad, been reading a lot about "horrible facial animations" this morning and there was a transference. I think the two things are intertwined though for they had to design all the different modifications a person can make to how their Ryder looked to work on the skeletal frame they use for animating. So tweaking with Photoshop is great and would work for misleading advertising, but there is no guarantee that even if they could make a picture look better it would work when trying to animate the skeletal frame inside the game. Right now I am concerned with how people are so focused on how Ryder and company look (including animations) that we are going to lose a lot of the character creator aspects in the next BioWare game and it would wind up being more like Destiny or The Division so they can spend the time to make characters "look better".

i hope so, but bioware won't release mod tools as good as bethesda's the modding f this game will be very limited and basic no that you mention faces sthe male Ryder is xact the same face as the face model but female Ryder is more ugly than the face model, it's not th same face why would bioware want ugly females?
