I don't mind locking skill points behind character cards but they should not gimp builds that reach level 20 to do it. If anything they should give players an additional 10 points above the base 84 that were provided at level 20 in ME3MP. This would allow players to go from 6/6/6/6/0 (or 5/3, 4/4) to 6/6/6/6/4 (or 5/5). But what do I know, I was only in the top 100 360 players while I remained active and finished with an N7 of 6,000 before I stopped promoting characters. What's sad is that I don't mind adapting to a new style of play but BioWare made some really basic mistakes with Andromeda's multiplayer to the point that ME3MP is starting to look more like beginner's luck than a well-planned game mode. This. I said the same thing about character cards and locked points. It is beginners luck, but it also isn't. The way it isn't is that it's almost a forced play style: Unlock all/most of your common humans and then play one to 20 so its viable on gold and repeat the process as you get other kits to 10. So while you might really want to play the Kroguard, he's at rank one and your krogan engineer just hit 9 or 10. Looks like you might want to try getting the handle of her while you wait for the others to max. Also, now no one cares (or at least they shouldn't) about unlocking ultra rare kits because until you get it like 7 more times, they're severely underwhelming. I also posted before about how this is going to create a huge divide in the future between new and old players, making it exponentially harder to catch up.

Yeah, I'm doing the same thing and spamming Basic packs until my common cards are mostly maxed. It really is a boring system as there are so many Ultra Rare cards that once you are done spamming Basics the only optimal choose is to spam Premium packs for 100k each. It's like a comedy of errors. Who tested and approved this garbage? And for the record, the reason I stopped playing ME3MP was when they dumped the N7 weapons into the UR pool without giving us enough events to max them all. It simply showed how little foresight they had for the future of the game. In 5 years they still don't understand how a bloated UR pool is horrible for the game.

After you get most of your commons maxed, I highly suggest getting advanced packs until you have at least 3 uncommon kits to 10 (it happens fast) and then buying expert packs and letting the rest of the uncommons drop while you max rares and hope for ultras. It'll get you to a maxed rare manifest faster with the one downside being uncommon weapon mods will take longer to get. The weapon mods seem to be the last/least likely to drop.

All things considered, this might be a good call. In ME3, you would buy Recruit Packs to max all Commons, then Veteran Packs to max all Uncommons, then Spectre Packs to max all Rares. In MEA, buy Basic Packs to Max all Commons, then Advanced Packs to max *your favourite Uncommon Kits and Weapons that you actually use*, and then Expert Packs and letting the Uncommons and Rares fill in from those same packs. It probably depends what those Uncommon Cards in an Expert Pack take the place of, but as most packs are full of garbo anyway, probably nothing important.

Honestly, I'd be able to stomach this a bit better if "promoting" a character (resetting from 20) also ranked up the character. It'd be tedious, but at least it would give us an option besides pure RNG.

Sure wish they'd focused on balancing the game and making in fun when they made it instead of adding stupid shit like this that is literally there just to dillute the loot pool and prevent us from getting the items we want within a reasonable timeframe.
I really enjoy how they removed so much of the fun factor and many good features from me3 but added shit like this to make the game as grindy as possible. Solid design choice.

APEX score whores. And just fix the points if you guys want. But it does math correctly. that it all can be used as a 6 6 6 6 0 build

Holy necro, Batman! I guess it's a good thing, then, that the regular vanilla Human Sentinel/Vanguard/Soldier/Infiltrator are really, really good. And that there's at least one common weapon that's pretty damn decent, in the Charger. Tho, I have heard that the Katana is passable, as far as shotguns go.
