Maybe we'll meet the Scaled Ones from the Decent Codex entries? did we ever figure out who they even were? lol I don't think we did. I sort of wonder if they are: a) a precursor to the Qunari (the kossith, maybe?)  one of Ghilan'nain's monsters c) both a and b Well, I think they said once that any weird stuff that we've found in the game is going to be brought in one way or another sometime in the future, so who knows - we may see Thedosian Reptilians at one point. |

As I theorized a long time ago, I believe the Scaled Ones were krogan and the whole thing was an elaborate joke.
This is based on my discovery of a krogan head with a dwarven axe buried in it right next to the final "Chronicles of a Forgotten War" codex.

As I theorized a long time ago, I believe the Scaled Ones were krogan and the whole thing was an elaborate joke. This is based on my discovery of a krogan head with a dwarven axe to it next to the final Codex.  I've played Descent quite a few times and I don't recall krogan head or dwarven axe next to final Codex  Plus, they neither look (they have human bodies and sharp teeth and talons, fire breathing) or behave (bloody rituals, sneakily attacking from darkness) like krogans. |

It's quite easy to miss. Also, keep in mind that the dwarves might not have understood what they were seeing, assuming the creatures were conducting some magic ritual when they were doing something else. |

My theory is that a group of krogan accidentally entered Thedas at some point in its past, either by crashing there or somehow crossing dimensions. Their numbers were small and were whittled down even further by the dwarves and by Orlesian nobleman mistaking them for beasts. Note that the "Scaled Ones" seem surprised by the fact that one of their number is killed by the dwarves. As I understand it, krogan have quite a powerful healing factor, and it may have shocked them that a primitive dwarf could slay one of their number. |

Also - the joke might have extended only to the easter egg (besides, how would a head survive 1000 years in intact state?), because they're the most notable scaly race Bioware has, but everything else about the Scaled Ones is real and entirely unrelated to it. Certainly not the first time they're mentioned in the lore, or possibly even depicted: |

Let's also keep in mind that 1% of the Milky Way is actually explored...so say DA/ME crossover game is (in theory) plausible. The only difficulty is explaining where humans come from (from DA perspective) because I don't think that is a thing in DA-at least not from a religious point-of-view. Also, I have never noticed this before...while playing Descent😞 |
