Ended up taking Richard to Eos, parking him outside the part where the trial used to end. Seems he will not be living up to his nickname, but will be a squishy softy. Taking emotional-casual approach to things, in opposition to Sassmeisters logical-sarcastic approach. Not sure if he'll be the complete opposite, but they do view the world with different eyes. Thinking about pairing him with Peebee and Drack, because of booze and bright colors. (Sass's group was Liam and Cora, with Liam being the exchangeable one). But anyways. Had a bunch of fun poking enemies in the butt with his omni-blade and popping heads with the Viper.

Did a bunch of small quests here and there but the main thing today was Liam's loyalty mission, which was pretty hilarious.

I ran more people over. I'm disappointed that it takes so many hits to kill someone.

Today I had two hard crashes on PS4. Was really worried that I'd be unable to leave the Nexus and would have to start a 55hr playthrough again. Luckily, I loaded an autosave from the tram rather than the dock area and managed to get to the Tempest, no other crashes since.
Since then, I've been to the former planet that would have been the Turian world, jumped the nomad across the chasms a couple of times to the shock of Cora and Vetra, and heard Cora's laugh when ramping off the lip of a crater. Really glad I got all the boost and jump upgrades for the Nomad before getting here.
I also did Vetra's loyalty mission, which was fun. I enjoyed using the security system to get Sid to do various things, it'd be good if we could do some stuff like that ourselves if we're playing tech heavy characters. I took the shot at the end, but I was terrified it would go badly. Luckily nobody got hurt but the scumbags.
Then I headed back to Eos to get the first of PeeBee's rem-tech parts for a scanner. Followed that up by hitting the Kett base. I picked up a Black Widow V and a Hurricane V yesterday so I've had a chance to use them a bit. Damn I love that Black Widow. *Set's up snipers nest on Havarl, kills target on Kadara.*
Not sure what I'm going to do next, possibly Drack's loyalty mission.

I think you are right, he does have something of Harry. Heh, I guess I will keep him then seeing that like 30% of Voyager episodes have a common theme of "Harry must suffer" so it sort of fits with Andromeda protagonist. Omg, if I knew what Liam's project was about, I'd start it sooner. Not that I actually figured out what it was about, too distracted. Okay, I know, it's really cheesy, and silly locker room humoresque, but i had a giggle. After I finished the ancient stuff, I put Liam with Jaal to see what banter they had when they are on the team together. Now, I am paralyzed by indescision.. Basically did all I wanted on Voeld, vault, settlement, but I finished the ice cave once, and did not really like how it turned out - I ended up with AI cuddling up to SAM. So I will need to redo this whole mini dungeon, but I have no idea what to chose. Should I just destroy it in my drive to save every Angarans I can? I thought that's what I was going for, but I guess I did not read the options right, because the AI said my life for his, so I assumed if I let her live, she'll let the Angara guy go, but by some reason letting her live meant killing the Angara. So, I guess, kill it? But I am curious if she becomes a story later on... I went to look up the rogue A.I. decision once I made mine; I also had the same thought as you and it ended killing the angaran. I went with it although I was regreting the decision so it ended up on Nexus next to SAM. When I read the report of what it did, it didn't make me feel any better. Anyway, I went to check and if it's with SAM, it does nothing further. If given to the Angarans, they will iron out the problems and the A.I. will apparently come into play some time later to help in a mission. Second time I went through the dialogue, it was more clear. The AI wants to die instead of being used by Angarans, so she holds the Angara that came to take her hostage. she is a bit like Bishop, only she does not want to take the rest of the world with her. I am going to take her in with SAM on my casual-emo rogue Male Ryder. Tishujen is more responsible.

Reached level 67
Playing as a vanguard is fun. I use charge, nova and singularity. For weapons I have a krogan hammer and shotgun. With that, I'm unstoppable. I'm using N7 armor because iut has stats for a biotic. Too bad there wasn't armor that didn't have the N7 logo
My previous playthrough I romanced Suvi. This one is with Liam.
I'm going through this playthrough a little quicker. I already see a way to complete the game quickly. If I have to guess, I could complete the game in about 15 hours.
Later today will head to Kadara

Crafted Black Widow VIII with Plasma seeker.
Killed the beast that guards one of the Remnant pillars on Voeld with repeatedly falling onto it with the Nomad.
Entered Vortex had 4 drinks, woke up on the stage. Cheated Poker then gloated at Gil.
Flirted with everyone.
Oh, yeah. Also told my Brother who was suffering in a coma that Dad was dead and the world we had hoped for was hell. Head canon Sara never liked Scott.

Who was your other comp on it and was his/her reactions good? Jaal was third wheel. The only line I remember clearly is when he "Thirded" Ryder's "I hate this plan" line. He may have said other stuff that I missed due to laughing so hard. Team AI (consisting of Scott and Drack) also got into a bar fight. Scott said he would totally rat out Drack to Kesh if she asked about it since he didn't wanna get on her bad side.

Richard did some tech support on Eos, then headed to Havarl to do some quests. This time, there were no big brutes hiding in the waterfalls. Which I whole heartedly approve of. Eventually the Remnant did kick him out, so he ran to Voeld with his tail between his legs. Did some quests in there, most importantly, fetching some Remtech for Peebs. Then did a quick run to the Nexus to fetch the best babe, Zap . She helped team Booze liberate some Angara and shoot some Kett. There was also some flirting and poker somewhere in that session. Also messed around with the character creator. That was fun too.

Did Jaal's loyalty mission - really wanted to kill Akksul but actually missed the prompt so I didn't. Apparently that was a good thing too. [Note: the action prompts require a much quicker trigger finger than in either ME2 or 3. I like that that they tell you what you are trying to do, but by the time I notice the prompt and read what it says, time is up).
Got tired of running around looking for PB's stuff so I broke down and did Cora's quest to find the asari ark. Cora is still annoying, but it looks nice having 2 arks parked at the Nexus now instead of just one.
I already located the turian ark, so now there are 2 other Pathfinders besides Scott. Still nada on the salarian ark. Once I finish PB's loyalty mission then I guess the only thing left to do other than more side quests is go after the archon's ship.
SAM is being mum on the memory front - stupid machine. His mystery mission (which triggers when all 5 outposts reach 100% viability) really should not have even been doable until after locating the Meridian thingy since it is mentioned during the cutscene and also in the accompanying codex entry. Nothing like spoiling the game for me, game.

I'm a huge DA fan that gave about 6-8 hours of the trial a shot (played ME2/3 for the first time very recently.) Because I was jealous over all the excitement of the new game and also interested because this would be the first time I've ever played a Bioware game the first month/year it came out. Wondered what that would be like. I actually don't super hate the CC like everyone else seems to. Certainly not as good as DAI in any but the two ways- shiny skin and peanut butter hair aren't present. I also really liked customizing the twin. I disliked that there is only one shade of red. It looks like it came out of a dye box and in a lot of lights look pink, while there are 20 shades of brown and black. I also think the Iris being bigger would have decreased us seeing so much eyeball white. And the scars could look less like someone attacked you with a tube of lipstick and more like actual scars- I avoided them altogether. I actually like the VAs, although a lot of the men seem to have higher pitched voices than seem appropriate. it's the facial animations... Which everyone has already harped on. But I was hoping for funny mess up glitch faces, not a lack of anything but mouth movement. I was using a USB controller fully expecting total functionality, as it's a 2017 game and I had total functionality in DAI. I've tried twice to map melee to a controller button, but it refuses to be on anything but a keyboard button making the functionality "out of the box" worse than the ME 2/3 controller mods I was using for the other games. I enjoyed ME3 battling. I don't like MEA battling at all; so many deaths due to the melee mess as well as not being able to cover properly. Also, as a person who aims terribly slow, a grenade exploding in my hand sucks. I guess I got mines and grenades mixed up? but I don't remember grenades in ME3 exploding in my hand. I do like the jetting to the side rather than rolling. Always did wonder how they didn't hurt and slow themselves down with all that rolling in OT. Protaganist: My complaint about ME2/3 was that I was always the least interesting in the room. Everyone else was more charismatic, funnier, smoother. I guess what I'm running into is that although my Pathfinder is more interesting/emotional the companions aren't interesting. I also historically complained about Femshep being 98% professional soldier and only getting to be human woman in flirt scenes in ME2. It got way better in ME3, where my Femshep could finally express doubt, depression, grief and loved it. She was still a soldier, but I finally got to show the softer side. Nonetheless, I thought a more casual non combatant protaganist was totally up my alley. Why I'm so confused as to why I'm unhappy with my Ryder? Perhaps it's the fact that Pathfinder seems to require that you be a Master Jack of All Trades and Ryder is absolutely a master in none. She's a novice everything, and it makes completely no sense for her to be a Pathfinder. Which brings me to narrative, I guess. I dislike Cora, but egads, why does she assign herself as my 2nd in command when she should have been Pathfinder? Who cares what Alec did in an emotional moment, the chain of command and history of training and education clearly states this position should have gone to Cora. Cora is kinda inconsistent on her feelings about it. In one scene, she doesn't seem to blink that this act occurred. In another, she's frustrated enough to kick a wall. How could an entire ship full of different races of people and skills not be flexible and smart enough to find appropriate worlds without a Pathfinder? Ryder is not smarter and more expereinced than an entire ship full of people. And becoming Pathfinder is narrative chaos. Not only what I just mentioned. Excited to have a family, I created a Ryder who loved hers. And should be devastated that Alec died. Take a day off, have a grieving scene similar to what Hawke got in DA2. Prefereably WITH my twin, who still doesn't know. Instead, I seem to be forced to pick dialogue, with attached supporting auto dialogue, about how she's excited with the new responsiblities, that she'll do her best, happy to be in charge of the Tempest with big ol' excited smiles. *growl* no. Just no. It makes me feel like a Ryder who is finally glad her father's out of the way is canon while my Ryder who gives a crap is OOC. Additionally, a dad I know all of five minutes who dies off screen is so ridiculously underwhelming in the grief department I can't imagine why they bothered. They either should have made Alec Pathfinder for a third of the game or outright just made you the Pathfinder from the get go. As in, the plan, you were chosen, etc. Maybe even some dialogue about how you were the youngest Pathfinder chosen for the Adromeda Initiative but that the founder saw something in you that made her decide you were suited for the job anyhow. Dad Ryder could have been a fellow combatant and super AI user. oh well. I should stop trying to fix a narrative that can't be fixed. Totally don't get why SAM was hardwired into my brain or how that would save Ryder or why the Doctor would randomly agree to that. Space Magic. Or, paranoid, SAM wants a new host. The companions aren't interesting- I'm more interested in the people who work on the nexus than my companions. The Intro was good and exciting. I liked Liam and all his banter. I liked the wacky crazy lightning world. with floating mountains. I felt like I'd entered a new Galaxy. The mystery of why the Kett somehow can't access the old tech but we sort of can is weird/confusing but interesting. I honestly do wonder what the heck happened to the other Arks I think the idea of investigating who my father really was and what he was up to a bit...I dunno. I find it weird. Because in ME3, I had the feeling from all the crap laying around Anderson's apartment that he was going to die, because otherwise, why give him all this audio about who he was? But that was to get me more invested in a character they would then kill later. Alec is already dead. By the time I unravel who he was, it'll be what, half game? end game? So, I'll care that he died 60 hours after he died? The killing of dad off screen and how they've handled the transfer of power is bad. My Ryder's reactions to it have been inconsistent by no intention of my own. I've been non positive emotions, mostly bored, since dad died. And now I can't even go up a hill on this boring desert planet of empty emptiness. I mean, why did they even try to make a go of it on a radioactive desert planet? The lightning planet seemed more liveable by comparison. The nomad can't go up a mild incline, as you've already all found out. I mean, I'd read about this, but hadn't known it was this bad. I go up and over a totally vertical incline of one boulder just to be bested by a sandy hill right next to it. I'd also read that one needed to upgrade it and it would stop sucking. But I don't want to collect materials by walking my Ryder's butt literally up to each rock-then find wherever the upgrade center is on either the nexus or the tempest- and upgrade the basic movement object just to do the first world. I didn't even craft my first game of DAI- or even my second. I am not a crafter and don't like it being required. wonder if they'll patch the Nomad to have it's driving capabilities not start out sucking for new players. Also reminds me of ME1 in the controls of it. Bah on that. I remember being slow to get invested in Femshep in ME2. I made myself play it anyway. I was locked in from the second ME3 began and couldn't wait to keep playing it. Not so here in Andromeda. TLDR There were things to like, things to hate, but mostly a lot of "meh". I'm done playing the trial. Non immersive narrative, underwhelming companions, and the KO move of a crappy car I have to upgrade to move forward in the story. Did like the prologue till dad's death, where it all unraveled. Did like the jet pack, the climbing/grabbing of walls, and the walking/ladder animations. Thought the CC was okay. Unless the trial expires, perhaps I'll try a second character in several months. One that is super glad dad dies. Definitely not paying $60 for it. Wish you all lots of fun, I'll go play Dragon Age and the ME Original Trilogy again, check back in in a year to see what's changed. Maybe there will be DLC about the mystery of the Arc's disappearance and I could ignore all the starving Nexus citizens to go explore something I want to. And oh yeah. The Fem Ryder I made turned out mostly to my expectations.

phoray I think we have almost polar opposite tastes, lol. I was so excited to be on my own, and I love to find out more about my father, who was a complete enigma when Ryders were growing up, always away. I like it that I can only sit by Scott's bed, with only a rare interaction while he is in coma. I guess, circumstances of my real life sort of mirror a lot of Ryder's experiences, not really knowing my dad, moving on my own across the ocean at age 22 to forever be an alien, finding out that my 5 years of academic excellence have no bearing on my ability to swing a sledge hammer rigging up to the drilling rig, starting a completely new life with zero back-ups and nothing at all remaining of the old one, every piece broken to smithereens, and I love the desert scapes and gathering resources. I hear you on crafting though. I didn't know you can upgrade Nomad, but I got used to it. I also like Cora with her both wanting to be a PF and thinking she'd just be a pretender, something I feel often. Heck, I was talking to Cora when I was doing spring cleaning this weekend, rose garden, Cora? You have no idea how hard it is to prune the darn shrubs every spring.... Also, well, the planet I went to after Eos was wonderful, and banters between the crew in Nomad makes me think about Legacy so much, it's so familiar and funny. And, now I am even more divided between playing SP and MP. I just don't know what I want more, it's all soooo good.

I hope they patch that mission. It really is too spoilery and feels like a post-ending thing otherwise anyway (everyone being celebratory of Ryder). Anyway, I did: -took tours around Nexus and Aya again, chatting on Tempest and having hangouts -made my second trip to Eos to clear up more things around the initial regions (are some remnant sites bugged for not getting blue-complete markers?), but as I continued outward, got that Architect encounter and like Voeld, felt like this was the 'dragon' fight I wasn't yet prepared for (I'm around Lv 20 and I want to be 40+ with multiple strong favorites to switch) so I left -started a visit to Havarl and I'll get a lot of its exploration done but not the whole thing Next: -exploring Havarl, do some major stuff in it -returning to Voeld to do a bunch of opened up missions, advance main story, maybe try my hand at the superboss again -moving outward through Eos some more

Same. I don't even know who my father is, so this stuff (bio father that was distant) is actually more appealing to me than anything with Anderson (father figure that matters). I have limited backup in my life and more scattered family, instead of anything tightknit and supporting. There are still relationships and I'm not left out to the darkness and the wolves, and I think I'm largely competent and on some road of success, but the feeling of not having shined yet is something I can also dig. The journey of Pathfinder has enough details in it that I can easily roll with it. It was very easy for me to buy whatever Ryders' views were on their parents. It keeps being grating to me to see some people, especially on Youtube, mock the reactions (the only one I really agree about is the stare after "Alec.. is dead?" It was the Ryder relation to their family that actually made me buy into things. I didn't consider it cold or dead or heartless or badly written. I considered it very close to how I'd be.. caring but unsure how much I should rightfully care. There is a nuance to how this proceeds in the story, too. Sucks to see some bashing that I can't really even start to agree with :S

SwobyJ I am with you - for me it feels like the writers nailed it. But well, I guess other folks don't see it this way, and that's okay. With Scott, I actually never had siblings, but having that coma situation really gives me time to come to terms that I do have him in a game and determine how I want to feel about him. Same as with the distant father I am discovering through my memories. In DA2 it was far harder because the game demanded an emotional reaction immediately, as you were one of three survivors, and apparently close to all of them.

Did a bit of mucking around with Eric and Yamoko. So basically just spent some time on the starting area and Habitat 7. Highlights were biotic-throwing an explosive cask at a cliff wall, finding the water cooler and finding Kett in some new places. It's the little things I suppose. Also fiddled with the character creator a little bit. That was fun too. Edit: Yay. Yamoko managed to get off Habitat 7 and now she can respec to something more tech. And I didn't even need to vent. Now Silvia just needs to get her butt out of cryo and I'll have to pick a head number for Liam. 3,5,6 or 8 it looks like. And I'll have nice little base to mess around with.

@domi and SwobyJ I am intentionally not on speaking terms with my mother. And my relationship with my father isn't angry, but we have a disinterest in each other. We have very different lives relatively far apart and no major feeling of love to overcome the distance. I am 1 of 6 children, and I only speak with two siblings. One sibling and I didn't get close until I got married at 25, so our sibling relationship has only gone 4 years. The only other sibling I talk to is an abrasive immature prick that I have to ...talk to very carefully when I see him twice a year. But we were very close as children. I embraced adulthood to get away with my mother and learned my own lessons and skills apart from her and with only scattered support from lovers and teachers. I think I see a lot of my own brother in Carver in DA2. He's angry, abrasive, immature, and says inflammatory things that make you want to punch him. But at the end of the game, Carver looks you in the eyes and says, "I'm proud to call you sister, that's gone without saying for far too long." And because I hope my little brother says that to me someday, that whole scene just chokes me up just thinking about it. My distant father dying in real life would be kinda like, "Huh. Wasted family opportunity. too bad." But I wouldn't even cry. So, giving Ryder a distant father in a game and then killing him immediately gives me the same feeling. Except they intentionally wasted the family opportunity? I also think there are proper people for proper jobs. In lieu of promoting and using someone who's been properly trained for this (cora) for some wide eyed Prothean Tech sniffing Liara wannabe is just beyond my suspension of disbelief. Edit Add: I'm not actually sad that Leandra dies. She seems a bit of a crappy mom in the Hawke department. What made me sad was that all encompassing feeling of failure at protecting the ones you love. I've been in the situation of Provider for my bio family when I was younger and still talking to them. I never met my goals on that, because people are inviduals. I failed at being family with my family and keeping them wholesome with a chance at a satisfying life. And I failed as Hawke at keeping my family safe. It's possible if Scott had woken up while I was playing that I'd feel different about the family dynamic but I may have been just as disappointed by him too. So who knows.

I think i am doing MP till the weekend. I am just too busy to sit down and enjoy the story, but the short adrenaline rush of the MP is just what I need in the end of the day :) Hopefully, I will have a few quiet hours on Saturday and Sunday to relax and enjoy Ryder's most excellent adventures. I am now really hoping to meet Reyes. Maybe it's gonna be love at the first sight!

I also think there are proper people for proper jobs. In lieu of promoting and using someone who's been properly trained for this (cora) for some wide eyed Prothean Tech sniffing Liara wannabe is just beyond my suspension of disbelief. The one thing I can't figure out is what does pathfinder mean? From the game, it just means someone who's the vanguard of exploration, finding new worlds / habitable planets. As such, it is a vital role when it comes to space colonization in Andromeda but Ryder ended up deciding quite a lot of important things that would impact the future of the MW colonists. That is decidedly at odds with the role. What is a pathfinder? Pathfinders would have : * priority on supplies, personnel, hardware * training in systems / planetary survey * training in first contact * training in commanding a ship * training in ship manuevers / tactics, combat Does Ryder fit? Does any of the team fit into all of those? * (OT) Addison is the most idiotic char ever written. Everything had failed so when an ark showed up and a pathfinder appeared, everything else must fail too. Why are you even bothering to stay where you are? Oh wait, you just love to lord over everyone, infect everyone with we've failed, we're going to fail, we're hopeless, we can do nothing. You're a freaking walking miserable blob of paste, why did no one kick you out and take over? The writers 'forgot' to put in lines to refute your wagging tongue of disdain and misery so we're obliged to stand there and listen to your sh*** and have to put up with your stumbling blocks when someone is trying to do something constructive. * Ryder does have experience in planetary survey experience since s/he were on exploratory teams seeking Prothean artifacts. Check. * Training in first contact. Likely. * Commanding a ship. Unlikely. Observe the way s/he runs the ship. The altercation between Kallo and Gil should never have happened. Gill is breaking operational protocols, not observing the chain of command by not consulting and seeking approval with his mods. He is an engineer, not the captain. Kallo has a legitimate concern and should have brought it straight to Ryder's attention instead of letting it ride for so long and quarreling with Gil over the comms. Ryder, on hearing the bickering should have put her/his foot down and immediately settle the problem. Everyone treats Ryder like a buddy, not the captain when it comes to meetings or anywhere else. Where is the professional respect? Meeting over? Sure, bye. The writers try to milk a lame joke out of this but this is just a glaring failure on Ryder's ability to command. PB's dangerous actions. She put the ship, the crew in danger. Worse, she placed the lives of the commanding officer and a crew member on the line. She is a walking unruly hazard who observes no discipline, no protocols. Ryder should have said no, she can't use that escape pod as her digs. No, s/he has to know what is she experimenting with secretly. By not establishing a firm chain of command and drawing the line. By letting everyone do what they want, Ryder proves s/he cannot run a disciplined ship. *Since the Tempest is toothless, there's no call for any tactical combat in space so that's conveniently spaced. * Combat. In this Ryder proves s/he can do it. Check.

Silvia made it out of cryo. Then I realized that Alec takes his features from the headset she was made out of, so the concurrent sibling plan will be put on ice for now. But I learned that Liam will not let me wait until the Kett are done killing the crew. So that's nice to know. Also reloaded one of the testing Sara's, changed her name, got her a matching brother and dropped her down on Habitat 7. So that was fine. Also wrote down my own theory on why Ryder becomes pathfinder. But it's late and I'm sleepy, so how much sense it makes is debatable. When the helmet is smashed, Ryder breathes in a bunch of toxic air. It fills up their lungs, so even if Alec gives them oxygen via his helmet, the damage is already done and Ryder starts going into cardiac arrest (hence why the hearing gets damped and vision blurry). So buddy breathing aint going to cut it and Ryder will be dead before medical assistance can arrive. So Alec makes the selfish choice to transfer SAM to Ryder, so SAM can prolong the bodies function until help arrives. He's already lost his wife, one of his children might be in permanent coma and he can't face loosing his last healthy family member. So he transfers SAM to his childs implant, giving them all the Pathfinders perks which gives SAM the ability to affect Ryders bodily functions. They then both die. Then at the last moment, SAM manages to kickstart Ryders body. During the process we see Ryder being rolled by the doctors, then connected to SAM node so SAM can fully stabilize the body. So he's doing the stuff the brain would usually do, tell the heart to beat, lungs to breathe, ect. The brain can't do it on their own, since that part is dead, so SAM is the one keeping that operation going. So if he's taken out and transferred to the new Human Pathfinder, Ryder is dead.
Given how most of the ship seems to respect Alec, they don't want to disrespect his final sacrifice by killing the one he tried to save. And well, the whole murder business. So Ryder is basically the human pathfinder, since Alec used the needed equipment as life support for them and none of the crew wants to pull the plug.
As for what Pathfinder is, I think they are just really good explorers equipped with a super computer. So instead of having to spend years running tests on the local flora, soil samples, locations and wildlife, they just find the stuff, scan it and SAM uses his superior processing powers to evaluate and calculate needed data. Of course he doesn't know everything, but he can find out if the place can be settled and lived on for some time, then the local crew can find out what it takes to keep the place livable for the future.
