Bioware wanted Mass Effect Andromeda to emulate the lighthearted, tongue-in-cheek feel of the Citadel DLC? Well they've succeeded, in more ways than they know. Andromeda has been such a fiasco, that you've just gotta be a part of this. Everyone is here! And there won't be another game after this one. We all know this is the End of Days. So have fun! Whatever happens in the days, weeks, and months ahead, this, here and now, is the True Ending. If a series has to go out, better it go out on that kind of note than ME3...

OP, didn't you say you wouldn't buy the game? I said I wouldn't buy it until the multiplayer lag was fixed. PC can fix it by going into Task Manager, Details, and changing the Priority to High. Don't be misrepresentin'. But if you're frothing at the mouth for something to quote me on later, I will never start a singleplayer playthrough. So you can wait years and years for a chance to bring that up someday, which will never come to you. Find a new hobby, you're not very good at this one.

I don't see the comparaison, ME:A is more light-hearted but that's it. I don't think that ME:A's humor is sillier than biotic god, hardcore fan like Conrad Verner and punching journalist. I went on 4 differents planet and I really don't feel that any plot until now was comedic relief based like the one in Citadel. Sure there is some banter on the field but that is refreshing and once again very occasional. This complain is on the same caliber as "Bad Writing", "SJW", "Slow Gameplay' complains. People hate the game for it, but they just imagined those issues and try to push it. I saw review with 0/10 blaming SJW issue in the game to ruin the game but I didn't see any. This is no different. This thread isn't about MEA's ingame.

They haven't succeeded and they've been rolling on the "Citadel DLC" train ever since they released that DLC; DA:I had this element too which sparked sit-com memes because that's what it is. The thing is, Citadel DLC worked as a wrap and bow on ME3 because for one, everyone were depressed over the endings and their lack of closure and how much doom and gloom there was in the game. They just wanted some lightheartedness as we saw from ME2 back. BioWare decided to go even further and make a straight up chill DLC. The second point is that the DLC was earned for being so lighthearted because the crew was so well established. They had been on such a memorable adventure together they had earned a right to chill and goof around for an entire DLC - but then something bad happened. BioWare looked at their response and numbers and took it for granted: "Fans love it!" but what they did not understand was the red part. They didn't understand why it was successful. It's not because the jokes are so good or because the tone is much better than what it was before. It's because of the context of having a trilogy of emotional gut-wrenching to back up a DLC where everything just feels fine. But alas we have DA:I and now MEA where BioWare assumed they'd been given a free ticket to keep goofing around even at the expense of setting up new characters. Every scene wasted on beer-drinking or movie-watching is a scene that could've been spent examining the character or their plight. We're not there yet, BioWare. We haven't earned another Citadel DLC yet, but they think they have because they thought the success of Citadel DLC was a free pass to keep doing it. Unfortunately they have fans from cons wearing cosplay, BioFan and others who tell them as they gush over it "OMG, I LOVE THIS! IT'S SO GREAT!" and they're extremely easy to please so long as BioWare has made it. That, to me is damaging and another sign that I may either be getting too old for BioWare (though I'm technically younger than most of those fans) or they're simply insiting on targeting their most inbred audience. 10/10 fanfic

You know guys, not every game needs to be doom and gloom, woe is me! The end is nigh! Repent all ye sinners for your time has come!
Sometimes we just want a Firefly or Guardians of the Galaxy type game.
We're explorers, exploring a new galaxy, might as well have some fun.

I like the lightheartedness better. Maybe it is because in real life I try to joke and make light of serious situations because people like to automatically drop to gloom and doom. I can relate to the atmosphere of MEA which increases my enjoyment ten fold.

Sigh. One problem with Bioware is that they don't seem to grasp the concept of a middle road very well. Not many can. Even Blizzard is known to fail at this in particular with WoW that it is almost like a ritual.

Citadel DLc was great for pople who played the three games before many times and love the series and know everything of the story and characters, etc
it makes no sense to make a whole game like the citadel dlc, if there is nothing before that! if this is MEA3, then, ok, make nexus dlc
but now it's the start of a whole new adventure, new characters, everything is new, i only played unitl i get on the Tempest, ad i'm loving the game so far and the MP i hope it keeps on beeing good as until now,
only thing that i don't like are boring repetitive lifeless fetch quests, like those from DA:I.
anyway, this is a new start, a newcomers friendly game, citadel dlc was a good-bye-i'm-sorry-love-letter-dlc after the trilogy
question: did you complete the game? why do you say this is the end? i want another Me game after this

I didn't plan on getting it until much later, but my middle daughter bought it for me as a early Birthday present and gave it to me today. She wanted me to sit down and play it some so I did. I have to agree about the comedy. I don't want Gotg type game. I want a ME game. If they wanted to create a game that was 180 out of the 3 previous to it, then maybe they should not have "Mass Effect" in the title. People are going to expect certain things with that name and no matter how different they say it's going to be, people are going to expect certain things and when it doesn't live up to what they expect, it's going to get slammed.
Just the small amount of hrs I'm in the game (4 maybe), I'm already sick to death of the scanning, one-liners, and poor choices I'm given in the convo wheel. They all seem to be different shades of Paragon and nothing more. Since my daughter spent her hard earned money on it, I will play it all the way through. It will be like DAI was for me, I did one play-through and had to force myself to do that.
I will say, the animations aren't too bad from what I have seen so far, but those eyes, wtf is up with those eyes! I have already decided to see if I can get everyone to hate me, but I don't think it's possible to get anyone to hate you, which is limiting play styles.

Sorry bud. I don't think this is the end. I respect this game more and more as I play it because there are so many aspects where you can tell the devs put in a lot of time, effort and care. The good far outweighs the bad and it's fun. Bravo to the people who produced this.
I'll advocate for this Game and continue to hope the flaws are improved. I only hope they add to to what they've made here in the next game instead of going the ME2 route and gutting everything.
Word will spread and this game will do fine. We'll get another one

The End of Days is here. Vagina and SJW ruined ME:A. Witcher 3 is still giving everyone big manly boners. Bla bla bla... Apart from the CC issues, I'm enjoying the game and I find the story to be interesting. Yeah there's issues with the animation, but it's nowhere near as bad as some people are making it out to be. The OT was full of robotic animations, but everyone seems to forget that. It's not game breaking for sure but it can be jarring at times....look at the lighting from ME 2 cutscene compared to Andromeda's....... eye movement and general body movement overall looks more natural here *EDIT* Cutscene for ANDROMEDA contains minor spoiler! for (face is tired cutscene) No way a game like ME2 should be superior to a game like Andromeda in this particular area.....people are justified in being a bit puzzled by the down grade in overall facial/animation issues.....it didn't have to be mind-blowing, but at least a bit better or on par with past efforts....the artists used lighting/dark shaders in some instances to cleverly hide flaws,.... Andromeda looks like everything is clean and plastic....to be fair, i have seen some great looking Ryders, so i don't have an issue with the CC, but since we are talking about animations, i'm just pointing out why folks have an issue with it....

You literally picked the absolute worst line in the game to compare it to. Most characters are far better animated. Even Addison herself improves later on.

This captures the essence of what bothered me with Andromeda's writing.
Everyone was just had this same witty, "Whedonesque" banter that was frankly too similar to each other. It gets tiresome rapidly when everyone is a wise-cracking smartass, filled with light-hearted banter. It takes away the uniqueness of each character. Sure there is some fluctuations here and there but overall it felt the same.
One of the greatest strength in the OT was that everyone had a distinct voice and style. The Citadel worked because it was pure fanservice, a brief moment of levity in a dark world. However having it for an ENTIRE game, ended up getting super tiresome in the end.
