You are reaching R2 *making list of all dead boyfriends I'd like to see* No, his body disappeared, along with his magic girlfriend and her magic stone god. It's as likely as... sigh, seeing Ser Barris again when he could die in DA:I. :/ Renn could definitely happen. And be a companion and LI for my Lady Dwarf. Like you said, the body disappeared. And there was all kind of high strangeness going on, magical high strangeness, at that. Perfect recipe for bringing back a MaybeDeadorIsHeee!Npc.

I know I was mostly joking about Cullen lol Oh yeah, I see what you mean. And Bianca being a .... *censored* ... didn't make anyone feel any better about not getting to romance Varric. Though I think Bianca existing shouldn't have been reason enough to take him off the table. If anything it could've made for an even more interesting romance! Admittedly, I'd always put Varric into the BFF category, so I hadn't really thought about it too much... until I found myself writing a story where my IQ was into him. Now I'm a newly very interested party. That could have been such a great storyline. Esp with Bianca coming back and making waves. Yeah. That's one of the things that actually makes my Lady Cadash headcanon Varric romance really juicy. Bianca showing up. It gives the whole thing a different tone. From the moment you walk in and see B. standing there next to Varric. Inquisitor's famous line, "What's going on?" B. "Oh, you're a surprise." I bet! But even the insult at the end has a different feel to it. Good fun.

Krem and Maryden were cool. Cole to me was not childlike as much as spiritlike with vastly different urges. Overall, though, not a fan of dev ships. I don't see why everyone has to be shipped. I think it's unnecessary. Ah, yes, but dwarven men. I love their personalities. I think dwarven guys have great personalities. Earthy.. , confident, amusing. Gatsi was cool--the mosaic tile guy. Varric I like. Renn. Oghren was an alcoholic so Idk what his personality was really like, but no for Oghren overall. I like that nice grounded masculine energy. IB would be cool, but I'm not into what he's into. So, we're just buddies. Or maybe I just like that nice kind of gruff with a heart of gold Teddy Bear energy. I'm actually not that into the awkward shy-ish ones. You would think so after being a Kaidanite and then a Cullenite...and forever loving DAO Alistair. I mean, I'm not into the over exaggerated "Manly Man", either. But...yeah..

I didn't think he was all that spirit like or child like just very awkward and unable to understand how to communicate with people. After reading it though he was far more endearing and was more child like. Learning his way through being "real" I still don't care for the Cole-Maryden pairing though, it seems...forced really. I haven't seen the Krem-Maryden I assume that happens if you make Cole more spirit and not more human. I always go Human since it's what he desperately wants (even before reading the book)

Though it's been fun discovering just how many people we have who are 40 and up, I thought I was a bit of an oddity, age-wise I turned 52 this summer. And Cullen is my favorite romance so far, so romantic. My husband just laughs when he hears me sighing at my computer.

We just had this discussion on the old thread BevH was in the lead, with someone else (robertmarilyn I think?) in second. I'm mid 50s, so I'm between them and you. Too funny how the age distribution isn't nearly as weighted to the under-25 crowd as people assume

Which is a little surprising when you consider all the drama it can sometimes spark; you'd think we old farts would know better Meanwhile in my anime fandoms I'm Grandma Artemis at age 36, kickin back reading fanfics written by sixteen year old writing prodigies. Sigh.

I haven't seen the Krem-Maryden I assume that happens if you make Cole more spirit and not more human. I always go Human since it's what he desperately wants (even before reading the book) Yeah, I saw the Aspergers you're talking about, but I also knew going in that he was supposed to be a spirit walking in this world. So, within the context of the game I saw him as a spirit learning to be in this world. I saw that moreso than him being childlike-as some did-- because there was this wisdom there although an unfamiliarity with this world. The way he communicated was on a much deeper level; he communed with people's inner selves; needed to commune with them to get to their "truth" not just the superficial communication. He was able to connect with people deeply, just not in the way this world is accustomed, or feel comfortable with. lol! I made him human once and he said something about...it was getting harder to "hear"..and I felt so bad. I'm not sure if he wanted to be human per se, or got...entangled with the human expression in an effort to comfort the actual human Cole? I didn't even want his character as companion initially. I thought he would be way too creepy. I was like nope. I'm not having this stab happy guy creepin around. I ended up really liking him, though.

OK, who was it who said they could change the size/font of their likes? I can't find anything like that outside of just picking different pre-set themes. Other things I'm missing (and hoping I just haven't found yet...?): - No 'unread posts' flag - No 'skip to the end' button on the page numbers Anyone know?

So, also apologies for spamming the heck out of everyone. I just went through my Friends list and tried to PM everyone I could on the old BSN, but I'm sure I'm missed folks (esp since I tried not to annoy people I literally haven't seen in this parts since before the BSN forums switch). If I haven't friended you yet, please friend me! I need to go down the list, and haven't had a chance to get everyone yet. :blows kisses: Thanks for that, btw. I literally just checked in on the BSN and got your message. Or else I wouldn't have known about this place! The only option I could recall of all the new possibilities was fextralife. So glad to find you guys! So.... Hi hi!

Just wanted to poke you, Tishina and ask if it's too late in the hour to ask for what you wanted to say about Bianca. Sorry, unfinished stuff hangs in the back of my head :-[ Sorry, I’ve been playing make-up on work all day… I'll try to get as much as I can remember down. One of the complaints I hear is that Bianca doesn't seem to care about Varric. First, does anyone really expect him to be attached to someone who fawns on him or idolizes him? Varric's going to want someone who challenges him. And they're dwarves, they aren't emotional in how they address each other in front of strangers (Bianca doesn't know the Inquisitor from a stranger on the street, after all.) To me, their banter screams affection of the sort you see in, for instance, parts of the US Northeast (particularly NYC.) I watched friends of mine from that area (I'm from the US South, so it was a shock) apparently argue for YEARS before one day, I watched as he said something that set her off. She's fussing away at him, and he's GRINNING ear to ear. Ten minutes later, she's sitting in his lap giggling (they've been married for close to 40 years btw.) I finally asked and was informed (amid much hysterical laughter) that if she's fussing at him, he knows she's paying attention and cares about him. You can almost measure their affection by the banter and teasing (you really don't want them to be formally polite to you.) He PROPOSED in the middle of an argument because, apparently, that was when he knew she was the one. (For anyone who's read my Acerbic Alchemy, these were the models for my Zheeva Cadash and Adan.) As far as her "leading him on...," another common complaint, in what way is she leading him on? If anything, they both know exactly where they stand with each other. Varric could have ended it at any time, and has chosen not to. He's a big boy, he can make up his own mind, and nothing she said suggests she's trying to stop him. Apparently, he's happier with discrete messages at a distance and seeing her very rarely than never seeing her at all. The biggest thing she did for Varric that everyone interprets as the opposite was to go through with the arranged marriage. Why do I say she did it for Varric? Because if she'd refused, even if she didn't marry Varric instead, both her family and the jilted fiancee's family would have been gunning for Varric with everything they had. If she hadn't been involved with Varric, if she didn't care about Varric, she could have refused to go through with the arranged marriage at all. The families wouldn't have been happy, but what could they have done to her? She's an amazingly talented smith, probably her family's biggest asset, so no, there's nothing they could have done. And if the jilted fiancee's family had tried to do anything to her in revenge, her family would have responded. And she stays married for the same reason. For VARRIC. And last, yes, she makes a threat to the Inquisitor at the end of that quest. Stop and consider the exact circumstances - she's just had to admit she made a truly major mistake, Varric is angry at her, and she has to go back to a husband she doesn't care about and has to leave Varric knowing that he's taking a lot of unnecessary risks. She doesn't know the IQ, and from Carta lore we find, they're all assuming that the IQ is scamming the gullible, pretty much, and she only has Varric's word that that might not be the case. That threat...is perfectly in personality for a dwarf with her connections and who lets the mask on her emotions slip for just a moment in the hope that it'll keep him safe, even if she makes an enemy of the IQ. To me, Bianca's like Vivienne, you have to really think through what she says and what she does. Neither is an angel, by any means, but there are a lot of depths. (and I saved this to a Word doc because I'll be d**ned if I'll retype this a 3rd time

Hey, I remember macaroni crown! R2, do you mean skip to new posts? If you click on the word "new" it should take you to the first new post. I wonder how big our sig pics can be. I'm on the hunt for a good 'un! Yeah, but I just go to my bookmark of the thread... and the old BSN used to have a "unread posts" flag at the top you could click and go to the first unread post. Also... huh, since I've "bookmarked" this thread there is no "new" symbol, just the bookmark symbol. Interesting.

I changed my preset to BSN Omega. That made the font size bigger. As for getting to the last post of a thread, just click on the time the last post was made and that will take you to it. Ah, I see. Yeah, I poked around with the different themes and ended back on the basic BSN one (because this blue color is basically my fave color ). I like that the different themes also totally different looks. I wish there were more Dragon Agey ones, tho. :/
