Jack followed by probably Cora got the most development on screen compared to other humans. Cora was a missed opportunity though sadly. the likes of Ashley however were more involved with the main plot when they made their debut if i recall. How is she a missed opportunity?

It is a pity Samantha Traynor is not in Squadmates I wouldn't complain if Bioware made her a squadmate. She could be the tech squadmate.

Vega was the first character I ever brought along strictly for the lulz. I wanted to hear what he had to say about EVERYTHING. Especially in combination with Javik.
Don't worry about killing anyone, Vega. I'll handle that myself. Just keep the lulz coming!

If it's a ranking you are after then here you go: 1. Miranda (I loved her backstory and her not actually taking or giving a shit about Shepard (but he/she grows on her of course!)...and I also tend to favor biotic companions (or tech-companions) over pure soldiers, which are mostly quite boring IMHO...exceptions so far? Garrus, Drak and Grunt!) 2. Cora (she reminds me of Miranda and with her name I wouldn't be surprised if she is kind of Miranda - just with a different "father" (TIM!)) 3. Jack (like her backstory, too (even if I didn't much like her loyalty mission...too wet and broken a place...only Jacob's was worse in ME2 IMHO!) and she's another biotic!) 4. Zaed (sadly you could neither romance him nor have true conversations... ) 5. Kaidan (another biotic and I could bond with him over Virmire (he's my survivor - a biotic is worth more than a pure soldier because those are as common as sand on most beaches, while biotics especially strong ones are RARE!)) 6. Kasumi (loved the Greybox-Story! Didn't much like her in ME3 (*whine* "I don't want to fight again" *whine*)) 7. Ashley (loved her poetry and her family stories! Didn't like her Xenophobia (despite her being half-way right, I mean the council does subjugate member-races - you aren't fully sovereign if you have an embassy there (you have to allow SPECTREs to snoop around - even in top-secret military places! - and you are bound by the Treaty of Farixen!)) 8. James Vega (didn't like Mr. Gung-Ho much - he reminds me of a cliche Marine jarhead!) 9 Liam Costa (deals badly with stress (desecrates corpses within the first hour of the game by riddling them with bullets after they are clearly dead!), isn't actually all that funny, his loyalty mission is an utter desaster IMHO, not to mention needlessly dangerous (and his stupid civilian friends destroy a valuable resource in the end: That Kett ship - if they hadn't tampered with it it would NOT have exploded and S.A.M. could probably have hacked the fucking doors just fucking fine!)) 10. Jenkins...sorry kiddo, we didn't get to know you really, so you get the bottom spot but at least he went out in a true LEEEEEEEROY JENKINS manner! (sorry, but he should have dropped into cover as soon as he saw those drones, but he was too shocked to move his ass it seems Well there you have it greetings LAX

Cora was a missed opportunity though sadly. the likes of Ashley however were more involved with the main plot when they made their debut if i recall. How is she a missed opportunity? Cause she was the second in command with a family name called Harper so i expected more than her story being all about: asari commandos, her idol seeking mentality and her love for gardening. i don't think Miranda or Ashley are anything special either though for the record and i still do think she is better than most video game characters. opinions vary and some of course prefers her the way she is and that's cool.

Kaidan and Kasumi.
Yes, they're both a bit dull... But hear me out. I really like how Kaidan has his own things going off-screen, and how he works without Shepard. He's also fairly good about working through his ISSUES on his own. He's a bit too serious, and he could stand to chill out, but I do love him. Brother or romantic interest, Kaidan's good people. He seems way too well-adjusted for a Mass Effect character.
Kasumi is fun, adorable, and weird. I love her for that.

I love how even Jenkins beat Jacob. Anyway, gonna toss this up between James and Cora. Screw the rest (except Zaeed) I'm curious - I've seen quite a few people saying Cora around here and other sites. What's the main reason for this? I haven't played enough of ME:A yet to make a choice, and while I certainly appreciate her assets and don't find her at all annoying (unlike Kaidan and Ashley in ME1/3), she hasn't been a WOW character. Is it mainly because she's more interesting than all the other humans that came before? (I also avoided all information pre-release, so much so I didn't know any character names beyond the Ryder's, Liam, Cora and Peebee). Surprisingly, Cora does grow on you. She starts off a bit whiney about the rough life of an unwanted biotic and is a bit too much about huntress this and that. She idolizes a huntress commando, but in the middle of all that, you see she is just trying to find her way. She cares about people. She realizes that she's not a leader and that her being a follower is not a good thing. She is actually mostly really well written because of that. She gets a nice little arc and at the end, I personally find it hard to not like her. No idea about her romance. I might try it on another run, but I kind of like her as a close friend for both my ryders. She ends up coming off a bit like an older sister I think if you don't romance her. Or that is the vibe I got. It came across pretty well by the end of her cutscenes.

I'm just trying to get the sense of what the disappointment for her is. I'm not trying to insult. If the missed opportunity was her not being TIM's daughter then that more of a problem with expectation not with what's there for her. It's there any other missed opportunity then the players jumping the gun on what her past is?

None of the crew charaters are involved directly in the Major plots ME outside the pc, liara, Edi, and Mordon. That's also expecting too much.

ME1 Ashley, but not ME3. At least mods can fix the visual parts of that damage.
Zaeed Massani, because what could possibly be more important than Zaeed Massani not getting bested by some fucking kids' game?

1. Zaeed - the man's a legend. 2. Kaidan - Of course he became an idiot in ME2 but I always liked him in ME1 and he was just as cool in ME3.
3. Ashley - same as Kaidan, I always found it hard to pick a favourite between both of them. I found her the second best character in ME1 behind Wrex. 4. Kasumi - a bit arrogant/pretentious but not bad. 5. Liam/Cora - both equally likeable. 6. Vega - not very interesting. 7. Jacob - purely for the comedy. 8. Jack - only became passable in ME3 Grissom Academy. 9. Jenkins - seriously he was barely there for 5 minutes. Funny/heroic but can't really compare with all of the above. . . . A Varren with scale itch... . . . ... Miranda - out the airlock. I wish she and Jack could have finished each other off.
