They were okay, but I wish there was less auto dialogue. And more "narrative actions" or whatever they're calling interrupts now.

Sara laughs quite a bit and it's cute and dorky. Love it.

I am completely ripped out of the immersion/illusion ... ... whenever I have to choose one of the many VERY STUPID dialogue choices which are offered to me as Ryder. And this DESTROYS her for me, completely !
To my mind the Andromeda Initiative, strictly logically speaking, does not allow for anything but to have the best and the brightest of humanity lead this project. THAT MUCH SHOULD BE OBVIOUS FOR ANYBODY AND EVERYONE. But "Ryder" along with alomost ALL squad mates are comming across like pretty much 100% unreflected "kids"! Especially ... Ryder (PC), Liam, Peebee and Cora!
So far I HATE THE CHARACTERS AND ALMOST EVERY CONVERSATION I ENGAGE IN (WITH UTTER DISGUST) ... I am completely devasted by the unfitting characters and the very poor dialoghue lines which are present in this game. THERE IS NO BOTTOM!
I don't even have any hope left, that this will get better. Because, in my mind ... "My player character and pretty much half of my inner circle ... ... ARE BLOODY STUPID, ignorant, selfcentered CHILDREN" - PERIOD!
So, no. I don't like Ryder. She does not belong. She is not only immature - SHE IS UNFIT TO LEAD!
All of this has to do with the dialogue options of Ryder which are offered to me as a player and the lines the crew members spit out. Again, I hate at least 3 out of six squad mates. Jaal, I have the feeling, will be the next! I just met him. The writing for the Angara encounter is VERY BAD aswell. The writing in this game is beyond saving - I fear.

Surprisingly yes. Better than Shepard imo. I can relate to Sara in ways I couldn't with female Shepard.

I like my Tishujen Ryder. I am glad I went with the female, because after hearing Male voice, I like female one better. I agree when someone said that she is a bit toned down fro Hawke. She is not so much Janeway, more like a peer to Kirk in the rebooted franchise. Overall, she fits the story and her role well, her dialogue is not ridiculous. I mostly swing between Casual voice when matters are not serious, and the Professional one when they are.
Compared to Shepard I truly miss both voice actors, and the Renegade. The one truly pragmatic and smart evil character would have been awesome.
So far I have not seen the variety in the voice that would make me want to roll the second Ryder, the male. The responces normally only come in twos, so there is no way to forge a distinctively different personality, just like in Inquisition.
In this respect both Shepard and Hawke were better.

Not a big fan of Ryder but that's on BioWare deciding to limit dialogue options. Now we have four flavors of Paragon, it doesn't work. If they aren't going to go back to Origins and give us actual dialogue. Then use Dragon Age II.

Ryder is my favorite Bioware's protagonist. He has made me laugh more than I can count, and I love laughing and being silly. The emotions in Ryder's dialogue feel so real and well thought out. Tom did an excellent job. 🔥👏 Only 34% in and can't wait to hear more of Ryder.
I'll always be a dwarf fan. I love my inquisitor, but the Pathfinder has stole my heart.

I'm not done with the game yet but so far, I love my Ryder! I adore that she can be awkward, unsure and be consistently interested in science. This is what's selling me on the character as well. It's a refreshing change, I think.

Ryder is a huge improvement on the Inquisitor who was in my view Bioware's blandest protagonist. I like both voice actors but Tom Taylorson really does sound far too much like Nolan North/Nathan Drake.

Quirky, funny, and tough when need be. That's how I see Scott. Surprisingly, looking forward to a run with Sara. That pretty much never happened with the OT (playing FemShep, that is).

Has a lot of personality - acts her age (22) quite often which is refreshing. Feels like a very relatable protagonist compared to most video games or movies. I adored Shepard, but I cannot overly relate to a war hero grizzled veteran with an iron will. Shepard took time to get to like (only during ME2 did the character come into her own for me.. and especially in 3). Ryder on the other hand felt immediately human and someone I could empathize with within the first hour or so.
I like the character, really hope to see the character in future games.. though they'll probably go the dragon age route and make a new one with each game :/

Yes. I haven't played for long and I've only used Sara, but so far I really like her. That being said, every time she yells "SPEED BUMP!"--and since I'm playing Road-Rage-Ryder she's constantly yelling this--she makes me want to slap her 789 times.

I've only played Sis Ryder so far, but her voice irritates me. It's so dorky and annoying. So that colors my opinion a lot. I voted 'meh.' Maybe I'll enjoy Bro Ryder more.

I don't know yet, I think, I like him. I play mostly logical-casual Ryder: "Really I need to do it? Right, I inherited it (wtf?), so, I'll do it, because I'm here, and there is no better job... you come with me? Okay, it might be fun."

I think Ryder's personality is perfect and I love it.
Ryder is 22 years old and was unexpectedly thrown the title and responsibility of Pathfinder. It's realistic that she comes off as "noobish" and not ready for the job, she wouldn't be. Then there's her quirky personality and sense of humor which is great when we are coming from a stern and professional character such as Shepard with the immediate threat of the Reapers on their mind 24/7.
It would be great to see Bioware slowly make Ryder more mature in future games if we continue with her. Based off certain events that happen to her, she starts to harden a bit more and become a better leader/Pathfinder.

I'm not finished the game, but so far I think yes, she's grown on me. Took me a bit to figure out what makes this character tick, since right off the bat she is so different from Shepard, or for that matter most Bioware protagonists who are always natural leader types. But once I found the right mix of dialogue for her, I really started enjoying it. I'm playing a mix of emotional and logical, so Sara comes off quirky, but loveable and sympathetic.

Yes.
But I think he (talking Bro) was underserved. Whether it was voice direction, animations, character creation/modeling, general disorganization of the writing, whatever, he was made weaker by the factors around him. This is almost opposite to Shepard, who was bland and weak but bolstered by a fascinating new story setting that encouraged him to open up (or for renegades, blow more shit up).
While it currently isn't my first choice to want Ryder in another game (I'm waiting to see DLC or especially epilogue/bridging DLC for that), I already consider it interesting to see the Ryder character without MEA's pitfalls.
One reason I like playing Ryder more is that I feel more like I'm in Trek, more comfortable to have quality convos with others and episodic adventures. Sure ME2 also had an element of that but not as strongly. That's not to say I just want TV schlock, but that I enjoy more sense of 'living' in a world of Mass Effect compared to 'experiencing' a more central story of it (ME1's main story, ME3's 'movie' design).
I hope that if we play as them again, Bioware gets to break away from the family importance (while still keeping it), letting Ryder have more variance. They could even keep the tone icons (albeit with a better understanding than before), but understand how much people want to at least OPTIONALLY explore more extremes in actions and effects. Over MEA we do seem to go from 'Ryder sibling thrust into a position they're not ready for' to 'experienced Pathfinder who is forging a new world and legacy', but this journey does not seem complete and I doubt that'd *truly* happen in DLC (just as I don't think even ALL of Hawke's story ended with DA2 and theoretically DAI). I'd like Bioware to treat this character better and LET them surpass Shepard. Without all the flaws of a game getting in their way.
I was open to the idea of Ryder and Ryder himself is delivering. Its just too bad that they have a hazy barrier of the rest of the game (save for combat especially) jarring me out of the experience.
THAT ALL SAID, I'm still not one that wants Shepard to fade away to nothing in Mass Effect. I think there's great things that can be done regarding him, without making a game itself a 'Shepard story' at all, nor JUST inserting them in for cameo attention (see SWTOR Revan). When I hear 'one more story', I wouldn't at all mind Bioware taking up that, even if the game we end up playing isn't only 'Shepard's one more story', but including it as part of the journey. How? I'm not going to get into that here goddamn it.
But Ryder? No problems with them as a character concept and much of portrayal. I see others' complaints but its still stuff I'm personally into. I do especially agree with the complaint that Ryder should be more than 'shades of agreeing' and 'forced grey chocies'.

I really like Ryder. See, I loved renegade Shepard in the trilogy. Loved her snark. I was prepared to follow the same template with Ryder and started out as professional/logical, but as the game went on, I found myself reaching for the casual/emotional choices way more with no shame whatsoever. Ryder was funny, self-depreciating, and flawed at times. Felt like a much more well rounded character.
Renegade Shepard will always have a place in my heart. Ryder earned her own pedestal as well.

(Sara) Ryder is generally likable enough, but lacks the amount of edge and ruthlessness that I would've liked that Renegade Shepard exhibited throughout the trilogy(particularly in 1 and 2). I guess this is balanced out by Ryder not saying the kind of absurdly moronic things Shepard (of either alignment) would say, such as comparing the genophage to the FCW or being surprised that Asari can reproduce with each other.

Scott's great. It's refreshing to have someone greener and less stoic than Shepard. And he's a cutie to boot.
I'm not sure what Bioware will do if they decide to do a sequel, considering the mixed response to this one. But I would prefer that they stick to one protagonist, because I think BW is starting to struggle with "Hero's Journey" kinds of stories.
