The taken king was good though. (Cayde 6 was an awesome character) I've been with this thing since the first beta, and I actually have everything up to RoI, and despite my numerous problems, there are times when I simply can't put the game down, though largely now because of PvP and the various friends I have online that I have a good laugh with. I'm also optimistic about the new game. I really like what I see so far, even if the beta is so scant this time around. I liked Rise of Iron, but Lord Saladin was.....UGGGGH. When I think of dull and forgettable characters, he comes to mind. (Which is ironic if you think about what I just said.)

Guardian, with the SIVA threat dealt with, and now I can go back to my first love…..macrame.

I'm probably not going to buy Anthem simply because I got Destiny, probably going to get Destiny 2, so I've got no interest in getting Anthem unless the story is good.

So Andromeda became a joke, isn't selling well and its lasting lagacy will be of a broken game. Not much you can do about that now, but the good news is there is hope for Mass Effect, EA. Hope inthe form of glorious remaster. Pick the trilogy up, remaster it in 4k and 60fps (or even 30 depending on the console), release it with all DLCs and more important than that CHANGE THE ENDINGS. Yes. That's the only way ME can come back from the grave. If it was up to me, there wouldn't have been a Extended Cut, I actually don't download it and my canon endings for ME3 are the original, but this isn't about me, well, it kinda is, it's about Mass Effect and how awesome it was and how it doesn't deserve to die like this. Rework the whole of priority Earth, make it the Suicide Mission 2.0 it should have been, and make the ending more pleasant. Let people be happy. Talk with Casey Hudson, he is an extremely talented developer, I'm sure he will agree with this. Maybe you can even keep the Starchild and the Reaper nonsense, people would have forgiven it if the aftermath was brighter. They would have then it will still do now. Best part is that this won't cost that much money and you even ask full price (just remember, ALL DLCs!). Do this very simple task right and ME will be back in strength. Then, you give Mass Effect to a very talented group of people and let them decide where to go from there. Easy peasy. Hey man. They're never going to listen to you because they're bunch of greedy assholes who ruined developers and games. If EA didn't bought BioWare none of this bullshit would never happen.

mmm interesting thread. How can Mass Effect be saved?
OK My two penneths.
Be Mass Effect.
By that I mean ditch this wannabe Gears of War ambition and just be Mass Effect. It really is simple. Be an RPG. The Milky Way is vast and has limitless possibilities for exploration. Pick some destinations in the milky way that actually exist and build worlds and stories around them. Go back to your roots. Bring Back Commander Shepard and crew (survivors that is). Let's have none of the 'Milky Way is Screwed' mentality. We beat the reapers. We have earned the right to continue within this universe.

We have earned the right to continue within this universe. Well, Mass Effect had always had a Gears of war ambition, if you want to call it that. The only thing is that ME1's combat sucked. And going back to Mass Effect roots is exactly what Andromeda tried to do. I even remember people saying it was the spiritual sequel for ME1 or some other bs like that. And just look how that turned out. What Mass Effect needs in competence, talent, time and resources.

Let this carcass die already. It's actally quite relevant. You can see in first page posts of denial and/or shortsightness, but all the "hyperboles" I talked about Andromeda turned out to be a perfect assessment of that game. The real question now is if EA even wants to save the franchise. Back then I thought the answer was an obviously yes, now I'm not sure.

It's a certain thing that if a remaster was announced yesterday the atmosphere surrounding the franchise would be totally different than the one we have now.

Cloud is a level 10 necromancer. ( nerd joke) Lol. Best case scenario: We're not seeing ME in at least 5 years or so, with all hands on Anthem, but EA let's Telltale do short tales series on MET/MEA events. Or Dontnod. They have a pretty decent track record, and don't need to sell like blockbusters.

EA sells the brand to CDP and CDPR makes a Mass Effect game. /thread cdpr has a different approach to writing characters to this wouldn't really be a good fit, no matter how good it is. Obsidian? Same situation. BW was always more closer to JRPG's in that aspect. Only Harebrained Schemes/Shadowrun series, did something similar, and I'd say with better writing, less heavy exposition with much better flow of dialogue.

Bring back Shepard or, at least, the old crew. In the good old milky way, the best sci-fi lore ever.
Easy as pie.

Either way, a direct sequel to MEA using Ryder would not be the best option. At this point, they should do a MET remaster then do a hard reboot of the story and go from there. A MEA2 is just asking for trouble.

They disintegrated Shepard in a heavy-handed Space Jesus "The Shepard died for our sins" imagery and burned the galaxy in polychromatic "art" that we imply don't understand, even with "clarity and closure" Shepard's never coming back from that.

My Shepard didn't die. She's very much alive. The galaxy is only burned if ems is low enough.

It wouldn't be the first time someone doubts something I say, but this time I don't think time will prove me right. The odds of a Mass Effect remaster are... low. So we will never know how the reception to the news would be.

Mass Effect is most likely doomed. It's a toxic brand at this point.
Give it a decade or so and maybe people's nostalgia will give them a fresh start.
