I would rate it great, because I couldn't stop playing it. It took me 100+ hours to get 92% at the end, I had a few bugs related to some quests and I disregard the occasional facial weirdness in the score since I value it (edit: the game) for the experience it gave me.

The game is great at times and awful at others. DLC could certainly push the game to great for me but I'd give it a 'good' rating right now assuming many of the technical issues are fixed in the upcoming patches.
I liked the story and inner circle/cast but the pacing was kind of off and some of the writing is terrible or tries too hard. The Loyalty missions are really good and were the most fun parts of the game to me. Voice acting is hit or miss outside of the main cast, the only ones in the main cast I thought were underwhelming was maybe Liam and Gil. Suvi's accent seemed a bit too much for me at times too. Scott Ryder's VA might be the best BioWare has had. Seriously I'd rate him up there with mHawke, Mordin(ME2), fShepard, Morrigan, Loghain, etc.
Combat was good once I got my bearings I liked the profile system and its flexibility. The weapons seem really boom or bust in effectiveness and need to be tweaked imo. Eos was really the only planet I liked in terms of design/feel. They all felt kind of bland tho even Eos. Settlement system was whatever and not really an improvement at all over DA:I's fortresses. Galaxy Map and traveling is kind of a pain due to the 'cinematic feel' design choice they took. I liked it for a few hours then hated it. I hate scanning. I hope scanning/witcher senses/batman mode/whatever dies out in gaming. It is an awful mechanic go away please. Crafting is kind of a pain I don't really like the process of deconstructing and reconstructing my gun every 10 levels. Why can't I just upgrade it and save myself some time running back and forth between stations? Also, a lot of the augments seem useless, bugged, or ineffective. Crafting is kinda bad. Maybe a patch can kinda rework it.
I dunno it feels like Mass Effect 1 a lot which pleased me. The uproar over the animations was kind of an overreaction I feel. The first 20 - 25% of the game is easily the worst in animations and they seem to smooth out after that. Oh yeah, the music is okay but way too scarce. I can barely remember any tracks because they're hardly played at all, but when the music does show up it is pretty good.
I'm looking forward to a second playthrough already but I may hold off until the next patch drops since performance wise it is still pretty choppy.

I finally finished it last night. Very good game. Overall the experience itself is not as strong as the trilogy but it also offers a lot more than the trilogy in other areas. Now I am going to roll with an infiltrator Scott Ryder after playing a vanguard Sara Ryder who by the end of the game was a biotic wrecking ball.

I was absolutely one of the most bitter people following ME3. Frankly to this day I'm still not over it, I went into this game with the absolutely lowest expectations possible. Much to my surprise, I had a decent experience. Andromeda isn't a masterpiece, it isn't great, but neither is it the abysmal dumpster fire all this cherry picking online implies. This game has a lot of good stuff, and it has a lot of good ideas that they simply failed to execute correctly. I hate the puzzles, in fact I hate all the puzzles. I don't like puzzles in RPGs, but I can accept them when puzzles feel thematically appropriate. This game gives no fucks about thematically appropriate level or puzzle design. Remnant ruins are all designed with a game first, lore second mentality. It's all platforming and puzzle solving. All these consoles that you have to activate in a particular order or else you can't go into the next room? Sorry, but people who lived in this building would not design their system to function like that, nor would they have huge chasms between platforms, where the only way across is using jetpacks to hop across elevated pillars in convenient locations. The Sudoku puzzles are simply ridiculous, even if I was good at Sudoku I wouldn't enjoy this mechanic in any way, what makes it worse is it's not even consistently used throughout the game, so they themselves apparently weren't wholly sold on it. The Nomad needs a damn gun, idc if it's just a machine gun. The lore explanation for this is asinine, no one who ventures into uncharted lands is so naive as to convince themselves no self defense is a great idea. How about remove 6 wheel drive mode, and make that the button we use to shoot with? Since changing to 6 wheel drive feels like a step that I shouldn't even have to do. I personally would also rather Bioware re-added the animation to get in and out of the Nomad, but that's just me. All your interactions with your squad are too friendly, just like DAI you have no way to disagree or upset anyone. Admittedly this is a personal taste issue. This is also arguably the weakest Bioware soundtrack to date. Aside from the remix of Uncharted Worlds for the Galaxy Map, I cannot truly recall any music from this game at all. Huge swaths of time with no music at all, in addition to forgettable music. Inquisition also had this problem, but at least when Inquisition finally played music, it was damn good music, imo. Kadara is a chore, and is my primary reason for not wanting to replay this game. it is totally unacceptable for those doors to take 5 seconds to open. It is equally unacceptable that I have to go through 2 loading screens, sprint through the slums and jump over a fence just so I can finally fast travel/get into the Nomad.
Yes, the animations are horrible in some places, and in other parts of the game that everyone ignores in favor of cherry picking, is actually decent to good. The dialogue is also not consistently bad, they have some actually good dialogue and character development in the later portions of the game imo. The main plot is cliche, but after ME3? I'll take safe and cliche, anything to avoid more high blood pressure and screaming from me. Besides it's cliche nature, it has some pretty solid moments, with a few choices I personally felt horribly conflicted about making. Liam's loyalty mission was the only thing that got an actual lol out of me, and it was for one scene. ME as a franchise has lost a lot of it's identity, and is struggling to rebound. ME3 damaged this franchise more than some people realize. The idea they are going for here, is one I support. I approve of the ideal of their chosen direction, they just need to get better at executing the idea. This soft reboot seems to want to build on the dream that the original Mass Effect sparked in so many people. The Star Trek ideal of The Final Frontier, to see what awaits us, in the vast ocean of space. To go where no one has gone before. That is a strong, addictive dream for a lot of people, and Mass Effect 1 was our only real taste of that dream, and it did it poorly, but it's all we've had until now. Many space science nerds like myself am overjoyed to see ME finally return to this, because this is the only franchise that can give us that feeling. At the end of the day, the game is designed like a job, rather than a passion in many areas. The players suspension of disbelief is obviously of little concern for Bioware in regards to many aspects of the game.

likes - Drack and Cora. Mostly because they make short work of the enemy when I take them on missions. - crafting wasn't bad - remanants - the tempest isn't bad. Too bad my Ryder couldn't listen to Ozzy playing over the intercom . The view on the bridge is really good. When Bioware remakes the trilogy, maybe that will be added. See what I did there Bioware. Hint, hint. - graphics - fighting the Perfect. I like having to damage the orb to get to him. - jetpack. Its helped me out a few times when I needed to evade - fighting the architects. It took me a couple of tries to figure out what I needed to do. - the missions involving the arks. - fiend. If there is a sequel, the fiend needs to be a squadmate dislikes - Alec dying. It was lame. Just like most of the deaths in ME3. There had to be a death so Alec took one for the team. Why not just have him survive, but in a coma or just not fit to continue as Pathfinder? Maybe the next Bioware game, involving family, they all survive - jetpack. It seems everyone and their buddy has it. Even the enemies. Why didn't Shepard have one in ME3? I know Cerberus had a jetpack, but they used it mosty for jumping up or dropping down. - omnitool. Its able to scan all that stuff. Why couldn't Shepard do some of that scanning when on the reaper getting the IFF? - the interrupts. When the asari jumps on Ryder knocking him/her to the ground, why does it take 30 seconds for an interrupt to pop up? It ends up being some lame thing pushing her off. Why couldn't harsh dialogue be included as well? Like, "Get the **** off me? Of course it didn't help that I had dumb and dumber stand there doing nothing. If I saw my pathfinder knocked to the ground like that, I would smash the asari in the face. Ok. Enough - animations. the eyes and walking. Does everyone have lead feet? The asari, all of them, look similar to Pinhead from the Hellraiser movies - no power wheel. That's one of the things I like in the trilogy. The ability to have squadmates use powers on whatever enemy I want them to - the archon. What a loser. - matchmaker trophy. To get the platinum trophy, I have to romance 3 different characters in 3 separate playthroughs to get the trophy. Why is that? In the previous 3 ME games, it was only one? What changed? - the sam voice. I'm sure I'm missing other stuff. I find the remanants more interesting than anything else in the game. If there is a sequel, hopefully more can be learned about them. When I get the platinum trophy, I will stop playing the game. At the moment I have no interest in buying any dlc. I will wait for a game-of-the-year edition to be released, like DAI, if there is one and purchase it at that time. Its too bad there wasn't a scene on Earth with Alec, Sara and Scott before heading to the ships 6/10

It's good for me, 7/10.
Finished my 1st playthrough as Scott (+ Peebee) on normal difficulty. 90 hours of gameplay 98% completion (6-7 tasks left but irrelevant ones like making the nomad's even better shield thing) PC gameplay.
Graphics : 6/10 Some sceneries are breathtaking, literally.. Worlds are beautiful & spacefaring sceneries looks very cool & quite detailed. Some character's facial textures needs improvement compared to other AAA games, even compared to ME3. Character's customization is awful, unfortunately. Love the armor designs, could definitely use more armor choices with open/full-face visors. General level designs are good, but somewhat repetitive especially on remnant & kett areas.
Animation : 5/10 Combat animations are really good. Best in ME series no doubt, though I wish they bring back charged attacks.. Movement animations are decent, you can see the weird run only if you do it on purpose. Encountered a bug where you can't move/walk/run properly after landing from a jump. Encountered another bug where you're stuck in aiming stance even when you try to holster the weapon & can't fix it without reloading the game. Facial animations for the several character are really bad (Human, Asari & even Turian), including both Scott & Sara. Scott has better animation though.. I also noticed a lot recycled animation for NPCs from previous ME games such as drunk idle animations, talking, discussion, & thinking animation on Salarians. Not saying they're bad but you could improve on it a little.
Gameplay : 8/10 Combat is really smooth & fun. Best in ME series. Characters skill customization freedom is really nice & switching profiles feels smooth. Platformings & puzzles are actually pretty fun. Planets exploration feel somewhat lacking, there are plenty of places to go but nothing much to do once you get there. Galaxy exploration on the Tempest feels really slow. It's beautiful for the first couple of hours but afterward, it's just boring. Scanning each planets feel tedious since moving from planet to planet takes such a long time. Preferred how they did it in ME3. Side quests are fun to do because the side quest stories are amusing & interesting. Task quests, however, feels forced & menial, & even the rewards don't provide much incentives to do them.
Story : 7/10 (Possible Spoiler) READ AT YOUR OWN RISK. Story is pretty good & feels fresh & different compared to ME 1-3, unlike the elite & experienced N7 soldier Shepard; Scott felt more like a reckless young adult soldier trying to get his bearing around Andromeda. Few dialogues feels forced, but nothing to complain about. Choices I made throughout the game felt mattered near the end of the game. The ending felt good but also feels somewhat like a cliffhanger for a 2nd Andromeda game (I hope)
Characters : 7/10 The game felt more like trying to introduce the characters to me/The Pathfinder the whole game more than showing the bonds/relationship they/we currently have (either with Scott or other squadmates). Some of the characters may feel boring compared to previous ME games but personally I think it's because I'm biased toward the characters of the previous 3 games because I spent more times with them compared to these new freshly introduced characters. Peebee, Jaal, & Alec however felt more polished as characters more than the rest, even with only the few interactions I have with Alec.
Conclusion : 7/10 So far in my 90 hours of gameplay, I encountered between 10 - 12 bugs (some different, some I've encountered in the game several times) but none of them being gamebreaking. Immersion breaking perhaps but nothing that really matters. I can definitely feel that this is a Mass Effect game, but this game definitely feel more like ME1 more than the rest of the game. I feel like the whole game is just a re-introduction to the Mass Effect series & that it's laying the groundwork for what's to come (possibly a 2nd game). I can honestly say, I like the game even with the flaws it currently have. It definitely could use improvements here & there but all in all, a solid game.

I would say 8/10, so I voted great.
Rather than compare to the trilogy, compare it just to ME1. The characters in Andromeda are so much more developed, the combat is miles better, the graphics are really good (facial animations aside), and the story is good enough to keep me intrigued even if some of the dialogue is a bit hit and miss.
High points are definitely the loyalty missions and personally I liked the Ryder family storyline. I avoided most of the really fetch-quest type stuff, but still did a fair few side missions. The ending is not spectacular, but it's good enough and sets up the future of the series well regarding DLC and future games.
It's a shame the technical stuff like animations and bugs (although I didn't encounter many personally) let it down slightly, but some of that should be fixed by patches and at least it gives clear direction on what to improve for future games.
Take all the nostalgia out of it, and this game is certainly no worse than ME1.

I rated the game as Good leaning on Great.
It needs a few bug fixes and UI fixes to be Great.
With DLC it'll be Legendary.

Definitely got my moneys worth after completing it starting my second playthrough now on insanity. I was worried about the bid bad guy after the initial intro of him where he walks in a huff (looked like a joke) but once he starts speaking man that guy was a grade A badass by the end i wanted him to win he'd won me over as a fan. I liked the majority of planets only one i disliked was kadara (badlands not the port) just felt like it was lacking polish compared to the others. Some good quests some bad ones main story seemed okay throughout the game kept me interested. I'm incredibly surprised the squad banter kept going right through to the end they certainly got this right, i hope they keep the cast down in future games if it means we get this much detail and content (though i'd like customisation back). Seeing different allies help at the end depending on whether you'd helped them through the game was great and rewarding not ME2 kind of rewarding as death isn't there but considering there is no potential deaths it was well done.
Overall in my 40 hour review i gave it an 8 i'd probably say by the time i completed it this was a 7.5 meaning if you like the ME universe or scifi in general and 3rd person gameplay it is a must own really. If you were unsure it is a must own once it goes on sale.

Completed the game on my PS4 Pro after 65 hours and 87% completion.
I love the combat, by far the best in the series.
The crew was pretty great and holds up well when compared to past companions.
Elaaden and Kadara are by far my favorite planets, honestly if the other planets had quests that good I would have rated the game higher.
I thought the main story was okay, not good or bad but okay, could've had better pacing.
Thought the world building could've been much better than what we got, could've done without yet another mysterious advanced alien race, I am interested to know more about the Kett and their society though.
All in all I liked the game but I did not love it like I loved the trilogy so I voted good.

I completed the main story at almost 57 hours. To be honest, I've thoroughly enjoyed the game, BUT the main story was a bit of a let down. I don't understand what the ultimate goal of the Kett is, or even why they're doing what they do. It's really not explained well at all. And they came across as the usual 'lets destory the World for no reason at all' villains. Plus, I don't get that same 'looming threat' which I got from the MET with Reapers. With those guys -even from the very first game- you kind of KNEW that this WAS the ultimate threat. But the Kett? Not so much!

Voted Good,
Couple of reason because the bug with the chat wheel every twenty to thirty minutes have to restart the game
The other the complete ick with the preset females. Those are some ugly girls. IMHO
Oh and the ice planet was my favorite, just cause I thought it was a cool place, no pun intended.

Hello everyone,
First, I’d like to take a moment to thank BioWare, Frostbite and EA for their efforts in creating Andromeda. Also thank you to Sofajockey for making this thread. This is a big budget game and you can tell throughout the experience that considerable efforts were made to make this the next great chapter in the Mass Effect genre. During the trial phase I posted my feedback on the 10 hours I spent in Andromeda before release. That post can be found here.
My goal with this thread is to provide in-depth feedback and recommendations on how to improve the game based off of my opinions and experiences. I’ll note that as a review of the entire game, there are going to be spoilers here. Please read the headings of each category and only read on if you have no worries about getting some content or features spoiled. Here’s a quick history about my experience with BioWare to serve as some form of credibility:
-Played Dragon Age Inquisition through storyline twice. Did not play DLC yet. Thought story was good, combat was repetitive, linear and boring imo. -Played Mass Effect 1 shortly after release. Played through storyline three times. 167 hours spent in game. -Played Mass Effect 2 immediately after release. Played through storyline four times. 317 hours spent in game. -Played Mass Effect 3 immediately after release. Played through storyline six times. 808 hours spent in game. -Played Mass Effect Andromeda immediately after release. Played through storyline once so far, currently on NG+. ~70 hours.
I. Nomad:
I thought the Mako in the original trilogy was hilarious and fun. Close friends and siblings who have played thought differently about it and disliked it quite a bit. I think that the Nomad was just as fun. There’s no way possible that it could survive all of the things that I put it through and I think the game designers knew that. It would have been horrible if it would take damage from falls or running into environment pieces. I upgraded everything I could on the Nomad and was very glad I did. It was also very exciting to see the Nomad slide around on the ice on Voelld; kudos to whomever developed those physics characteristics. The mission where you get to explore the broken planet with little gravity was also a blast. I loved that you added in commentary from passengers to essentially say “Weeeeeeeeeee!.”
There are two elements that I believe are missing from the Nomad; a turret upgrade, and collision physics with enemy characters.
1. I would suggest adding an upgrade feature to the research center that allows players to add some sort of turret to the Nomad. I would make it an N7 level, ultra-rare option that was either a machine gun or a large tank-like turret, both of which would have ammunition. Having ammunition allows players to have some fun, but not completely ignore the combat aspect of exploring on planets.
2. I have hit rebels with the nomad going 161kph. That’s 100 mph. A normal, Earth-style car traveling at 85mph hits a wall and causes 120gs worth of acceleration. Let’s assume the Nomad weighs three times that of a normal car and is traveling 15mph faster. We’re talking well over 200gs of force on a stationary object. I don’t care how fancy their armor is, that dude is dead. Very dead. I like suspending my disbelief in a sci-fi game but I don’t buy the fact that a rebel can take three hits from a Nomad before they die.
II. Writing: Warning: This section will most likely hit a few topics that could spoil content if you haven’t played the game. Please proceed accordingly.
I think that the writing in this game deserves a grade less than that of previous Mass Effect games. It took a long time for me to understand and connect with the main character. I also started to dislike members of my team very quickly. For instance, I could not wait for the chance to get Liam off of my team. I don’t think I spoke to him once on the ship for the remainder of the game. Not only did I have problems connecting with the main character, but I felt the game tried to influence who I spoke with and befriended instead of letting me choose.
1. I found Gil obnoxious. There was a period where I had to speak to him way too many times and, as much as I hate to admit it, I just started ‘spacing’ through all of his dialogue. Why wasn’t there a line for me to say “STOP BUGGING ME I DON’T CARE ABOUT YOUR FRIEND.” That being said, why wasn’t there an option for me to talk to other people I was more interested in more often? I would have loved to talk to Cora, Vetra or Lexi more.
2. I was very disappointed with the romance options for this game. I eventually ended up looking up who I could or couldn’t romance with. I don’t think Peebee has anywhere near the charisma of Liara, Vetra is cool but her face is literally an exoskeleton; no thanks on the kissing front. Cora, in the beginning, is a jealous, by-the-book soldier who is slightly less bitchy than Ashley and talks about her being an Asari Huntress far too often. I started tallying how many times she mentioned it but got bored after six. Compare this to ME:3 where I felt there were great differences in options: Liara was charismatic and mysterious, Tali was sweet and shy, Jack being extremely withholding and aggressive. Where is that kind of difference in Andromeda? I didn’t find it anywhere. Secondly, I was extremely frustrated with how much the game was trying to get me to flirt with Reyes. I think I remember six or so dialogue points where I could flirt with him. In fact, even though I only flirted with females, I bet you there were double or triple the amount of options to flirt with men. Why is the game trying to push me into a relationship with a man?
3. Profanity. I remember there being some profanity in ME:3 and while I swear like a sailor in real life, I found it kind of strange in the game. It is like some comedians say, using the ‘f’ word is a cheap way to get a laugh or a lame attempt to increase the emotional response of a situation. I didn’t see any value in it during uncontrolled dialogue. That being said, I did find that the increased humor and sarcasm in the writing to be extremely refreshing and well done. There were options at times to say things like “Well, shit.” I think that was a brilliant choice and enjoyed that very much.
4. I’m not sure that this is technically a writing issue, but there were quite a few long pauses between dialogue that didn’t make sense. In the very beginning, Alec has a pause where he makes a face and it flows very well with the dialogue. There are many other instances where there is a pause but nothing is happening; the people are just standing there. If the pause is intended, then they need to be fixed with expressions or body gestures. If they aren’t intended, then I think the animators need to take a closer look at the dialogue and fix these gaps. It makes the game seem unfinished.
5. The removal of the Paragon/Renagade system. There have been statements made about this system being gone with things like: "The reason [the choices] are gone is because they felt very Shepard – they were very tied to the Shepard character.” There was also mention to people only picking the Paragon option if they were a paragon or vise versa with Renagade. I disagree with these comments. I feel that the Paragon and Renagade system was very ‘Mass Effect,’ not very ‘Shepard.’ It allowed the player to experience the game in completely different ways. A play-through of ME:3 as a paragon is quite a bit different than the one as renegade. I was very sad to see this taken out and hope that it returns for future DLCs or MEA:2, etc.
6. Game-defining decisions. I liked two of the decisions I had to make in this game. All of the rest were poorly thought-out, pick if ‘x’ or ‘y’ dies and move on. These decisions should have a sense of morality, ethics or logistical sense tied into them. For instance, in ME:1 you choose who goes with the Salarians to fight. I picked Kaidan to go with them since he’s the highest ranking member of my team that can go, therefore he should have the highest chance of success. Of course, after other play-throughs I auto-picked Kaidan just so Ashley could die again (god she was the worst). In ME:A, there’s very little background knowledge or information that can influence your decisions. Example: Pick to save Krogan scouts or Salarian Pathfinder. Why is this even a choice? It’s a choice between two bad things and there is such little information to back either choice up. Example: Blame Addison or Spender. Why? You just spent two hours completing an investigation into why Spender is corrupt, so then you want to use this moment to blame Addison because she’s mean to you? I don’t see a reason for this at all. Example: The Asari pathfinder decision to either tattle or not tattle on her. Why. First of all, that is one of the last things you would be talking about after that kind of missiont. Second of all it’s a pretty weak accusation, so for there to be a game-defining decision about it seems odd and boring.
7. Main Character – Human pathfinder. This is not a complaint about the game, merely an idea: there was an idea tossed around a while back about the new main character not necessarily being human. I was extremely excited for this to be an option. With the storyline for Andromeda, it would have been impossible to write in optional dialogue options for the Human pathfinder to be Asari, Quarian, Turian, etc. I would like this to be an option in the future, however. There are so many awesome races in this genre and I think being able to play a different race would create a certain kind of customization and excitement that would be contagious.
8. This isn’t necessarily to do with the writing, but casting for the voices in this game seemed extremely lazy. There are way too many characters that are cast with British accents. The entire Anggaran race except for Jaal and all of the Kett are for some reason British. Tons of random people throughout the game are British. There’s one semi-French guy and I think one Indian. The rest are American-sounding. It’s insulting how little thought or effort was put into making them diverse.
There isn’t anything that can be done about Andromeda unless roles are re-recorded. What can be done is bringing in a wider range of accents and diversity in any DLC or sequel. A good game to take note from would be Blizzard’s Overwatch; every character is representative of a certain country.
III. Gameplay: This will be a very general category and may also contain spoilers.
1. There are quite a lot of instances where there are animations that you cannot skip. These animations take a considerable amount of time. For instance, climbing down the ladder in the Tempest takes six seconds. Switching planets while exploring takes 15-30 seconds. Cut scenes for planet departures take around 20 seconds, and then another 10 showing you actually in space. Even in NG+ players aren’t allowed to skip these.
-I have two suggestions: First, allow players to skip animations like traveling from planet to planet and departing planets after they have done it once. Decrease the time it takes for Ryder to scoot down the ladder. Second, allow players to skip animations like traveling from planet to planet and departing planets once they have completed the game and are in NG+.
2. The character creator needs some work in my opinion. There are several hair styles that don’t connect completely to the scalp. With all of the camera angles in this game during dialogue, it’s awfully annoying to keep on seeing this certain angle of your character where his hair is just floating in mid-air. The beard also does a very poor job of blending into certain hair styles. The rest of the creator, albeit being a little more restrictive than previous Mass Effect games, isn’t able to be changed I don’t think. From what I understand about animations in dialogue, they are set to ‘auto’ make certain facial movements. Messing with the character creator may upset that balance.
-I suggest making the top of the beard blend into the hairstyles that it conflicts with and fixing the hair styles that don’t attach completely. This should be a pretty simple fix that would be easy to patch.
3. While I’m on the topic of how characters look, why is it that all of the Asari look identical except for Peebee? It looks like developers took Lexi, cloned her and put her model as all of the other Asari. Yet another example of a step that wouldn’t have taken much work and wouldn’t have made development look rushed or apathetic.
4. Omni tools. From the cool, sci-fi looking hologram tool that everyone wanted in real life, to a weird, sketchy, glitchy looking block of orange on your arm. If one takes a second to look at a still photo of the new omni tool, it’s clear that there is a ton of detail in it. On my second play-through I’ve been trying to look and see if I can actually see any of that detail during scenes and it’s very difficult. This was a complete failure in my mind and should have been caught by some sort of quality control check during testing.
-My suggestion to fix it is to completely re-work it. I think a combination of the old and the new would be the best way to go.
5. With the new engine we get these great experiences where we come out of a dark area and into a bright area or vice versa. The game takes this into consideration and there is a slight delay while the player’s eyes ‘adjust’ to the difference. I really enjoyed this and thought it was fantastic. What I really didn’t enjoy is when you’re in a bright zone like New Tuchanka and you go to your map or menu, the effect activates to readjust your eyes like you’re coming out of a dark cave. It’s very annoying.
-Please disable this feature when coming from the menu accessed by ‘Esc.’
6. When a player hits ‘M’ to go to the map, they are required to hit ‘Esc’ twice in order to get back to the game. Please make it so that if we’re in the map we can hit some button that brings us back into the game without going to the menu. This feature is incredibly unintuitive and serves no purpose.
7. Cut scenes with default weapons. There seem to be a good amount of scenes where Ryder uses the weapon that you equipped for him, but then there are others where he has a white assault rifle and others where he has an Avenger. We were used to this from ME:3 and it was a breath of fresh air to see it changed in ME:A. If the development team is going to go through the trouble of making this accurate in some scenes, why not make it accurate for all? It is yet another example of the game looking rushed or unfinished. There are even some scenes where Drack has an Avenger. Better be careful; that’s an insult to the entire Krogan race.
8. Limited customization for squad. You are able to put skills into your squad member’s abilities but those max out eventually meaning that there is really no customization for their skills. There is also no way to customize their weapons or control them in combat. I felt much less connected to them in combat and didn’t much pay attention to what they were doing. I really used their abilities to my advantage in ME:3 and would adjust my teams so that I had an answer for all situations. I really, really miss that aspect of the game and hope that it comes back in either a patch, DLC or future sequels.
9. AVP. I really enjoyed this addition to the game. I didn’t see the effects of releasing entire blocks of people which I thought would have been much more impactful compared to the random minerals and stuff you get. Players have to hit ‘X’ to collect all rewards and then say ‘ok’ for every single on because they pop up in their own windows.
-Please make all AVP rewards show in the same window. This will allow the player to more easily see what their rewards are and allows them to exit the window in one click instead of 10.
10. The map is very Far Cry’esque in my mind and ends up having a ton of stuff on it once you start using AVP more. Just like Far Cry, the option to fast travel is extremely handy but the object you want to click on is usually surrounded by other stuff that makes it very difficult to click on the location.
-Please make fast travel locations easier to click on without zooming in, or make a quick button that allows the player filter out everything but quick travel locations.
11. Kadara. This was easily my least favorite place to quest. Doors that take five seconds to open and constant running back and forth between the slums, the city and the badlands made me start skipping a lot of the dialogue just because I was so sick of being there. There’s a point where Sloane says ‘thanks for the help, come see me.’ Remember, she’s standing directly in front of you when she says this. But you have to spend like two minutes of running and door opening to get back to her stupid chair and talk to her. I was also very sick of the game obnoxiously trying to make me have a relationship with Reyes.
12. Wildlife interrupting dialogue scenes. There were two times where wildlife would aggro on to me and start attacking while I was in the middle of a dialogue scene. I had to skip the scene so I wouldn’t die. I don’t really see a reason why this is a possible scenario.
-Please either make dialogue options impossible if there are enemies close by or make Ryder and his team invincible during dialogue.
13. Game Stability. There have been five different times where I have had to force-quit the game due to it not loading the next scene or getting stuck between load screens from the main menu. This is only on the single player side of the game. There are also quite a few times where the game gets very jittery like if you alt-tab or come back from the menu very quickly. That’s not taking into consideration how many times the game has crashed or frozen in multiplayer which is too many to count at the moment. There are plenty of threads about that issue already up in the multiplayer forum.
14. Multiplayer. (As a quick note, I’m currently in the top 2% of ME:3 MP challenge points and top 8% of N7 points – just for reference) I am still very sad how the multiplayer turned out. I honestly don’t believe that this is the final version and am convinced that there is more to come out to fix it. There is considerable amounts of lag in ~30% of my matches making it unplayable. Animations and characters are bouncy and look unstable. I get stuck on environment objects all the time when using my jet pack, even if only for a second. It is extremely slow to progress through bronze because acquiring gear is such a pain. ME:A’s multiplayer is such an enormous leap down from what ME:3’s was and that is so disappointing.
-I don’t know what to suggest to fix all of those issues besides asking BioWare to remake Andromeda’s MP with the newest UR engine since ME:3 was based on the UR3 engine. The two suggestions I do have are to include the wildlife from the game as a choice for enemy, and to let dead/spectating players see objective information.
15. Graphics. The game’s scenery is absolutely stunning. First walking into the Remnant vault was so impressive and cool. Seeing all of the biodiversity was exciting and gave the game a real sense of depth in that regard. Things like the blue sulfur fires on Kadara; people might know this but sulfur burns blue just like the games show it and that was really cool to see. The explosion of the bridge during Jaal’s loyalty mission was absolutely incredible. Once it happened I immediately wanted more of it (sadly there isn’t). In the end when you get to see more pre-made cut scenes is a very exciting time. The remnant ship firing on the Kett was so epic and amazing. The mid-combat scenes on the last mission were also incredible so big kudos out to the team that was involved in making those.
I’ve mentioned in a previous post that the animations for faces could use some work, but I ended up not being that upset about it at the end of the game. I got used to it and the BioWare team has undoubtedly heard about it from others already.
I do have a bit of an issue with the tech and biotic animations along with the combo animations and sounds. Abilities like incinerate and pull look much worse and therefore feel much less impactful. The animation for Biotic combos is pretty cool, but not that much more cool than ME:3’s and the sound is absolutely worse. The tech/fire combo sound and animations are also worse than they were in ME:3. See the images and videos below if you haven’t seen them in a while or ever. I got some of my friends to play ME:3 multiplayer based completely off of the soundscape and visuals for combos.

16. After the end of the game there are thank you emails you can access in the Pathfinder’s quarters on the Hyperion. I didn’t count how many there are, but there are a bunch all from different people. I do have a question about that – is there any meaning behind those names? Are those BioWare staff names/aliases or something? Very cool and special little addition that I hope a lot of people saw.
17. As a critique only, I found the Kett to be a lackluster enemy. They use a 'theme' that has already been used in Mass Effect (one race stealing another race to turn them into something else), and the main villain is kinda boring. In the end all he does is fall down from some wires and there's no final word moment or anything between him and Ryder. I also think that the same animals being on every single planet was pretty boring. There is almost no possible way that the same exact animals would be found on every single world throughout a galaxy.
In conclusion, I think that BioWare put out a game that was okay and seemingly unfinished. It has some really cool moments and some beautiful graphics but it doesn't come together as a cohesive piece. It feels like BioWare set a goal of getting a game that should have taken 7-8 years to make, and rushed it to meet a 5-year deadline. I'm excited to see what comes next and will continue to support the company. Thanks to those who actually read and I look forward to some great discussion.

I noticed a Mr Mugman. I have no idea if that was deliberate, but I'm sure there are other easter eggs/references in there...

Hello everyone,
Fist, I’d like to take a moment to thank BioWare, Frostbite and EA for their efforts in creating Andromeda.
Example: The Asari pathfinder decision to either tattle or not tattle on her. Why. First of all, that is one of the last things you would be talking about after that kind of missiont. Second of all it’s a pretty weak accusation, so for there to be a game-defining decision about it seems odd and boring.

Fire Explosion
Very thorough! Thank you.

I noticed a Mr Mugman. I have no idea if that was deliberate, but I'm sure there are other easter eggs/references in there... Some of them were nods to Dragon Age. I saw a V. Tethras "I oughta write a book about your adventures", and there was one from Calpernia saying she would be back despite everyone thinking she was gone.

MEA comes as a game that does require you to work along. The game has great content, characters, iconic scenes. But for us to discover all it has to offer, we need to stay on board, to look passed clunky animations and to be inspired at any time. I mean: Adventure's calling and you actually need to answer it. Everything has been done for us to imagine ourselves on these planets. Rydder is a fairly blank sheet of paper for you to ink. Even the CC requires you to be invested, rewarding your hard work. Nothing comes easy, nothing comes by itself. But despite us putting some great effort into this game we ain't always rewarded. Animations are very weird: Being 10 years behind but included to a very current engine. Limp sync is off, lots of bugs and no huge payoff with a hamfisted ending. Never a BioWare game has been more about the journey than about the ending. Shepard's tale was about his/hers accomplishments and how the war will end. Ryder's journey is more of a captain manifest full of eye candy planets, weird creatures and courage. In conclusion, i listened to MEA's calling. I know many of us did. Some of you regret it, feeling let down by technical issues and that "meh" ending but in the end, well i'll retire, lay my Tempest at bay and talk to this story to my friends and familly: My eyes would be full of sparkles: Tales of a captain lost in Andromeda. Good game, missed the great by a very few. Less bug heavy and i would change my vote.

Quick review. I gave it a good. Combat is solid, I enjoyed the characters and story. For me those are the important parts.
However all the tech issues really hurt the game. Animations aside you have quest issues, spawning issues, texture issues , sound issues, lighting issues..etc.Just too many things they let slip into the release and honestly I don't know how they missed most of them.
Though I rated it good, I would not recommend anybody to buy the game until patches roll out unless you have alot of patience for glitches or play alot of early access games

This game has no soul.
There was no passion put into this game. It's clear the developer only made it because they were told to, not because they wanted to. Mass Effect: Andromeda is a generic sci-fi game inside a thin Mass Effect shell.
The cinematic style, the incredibly detailed lore, the well-thought-out alien designs, the intriguing characters, the mystery.
It's all gone.
I don't care about the technical issues, I always expect those in games like this. I just wanted more Mass Effect and this isn't it.
Gameplay
They took the third person cover shooter gameplay and turned it into the shooter equivalent of a mindless hack n slash game. It make it feel like I'm playing an anime. It's not bad, but it's not what I want from Mass Effect.
Characters
I like most of the characters in this game, but I don't care about them. The friendships happen far too quickly. It's not believable and it keeps me from growing attached to them. The developers said they wanted to recapture the target practice moment with Garrus with all the characters, but that never seems to happen. Instead of having unique bonding moments with the crew they all just invite you to have drinks. The characters have potential to be amazing, but with the current writers I don't think that potential will ever be met.
Writing and Story
The writing is so childish, it seems like it was written for drunken frat boys. Instead of having an interesting and unique video game story about colonization and the problems it causes, we got another story about humans being special and saving the aliens from another galactic threat who want to take our genetic material. I would have preferred anything else over another galactic menace trying to take the special human's genes. The family aspect had so much potential, but it was completely wasted as they aren't even there for 99 percent of the game. They said they got rid of the Paragon/Renegade system to make the choices morally grey, but the choices are the most black and white decisions I have ever seen in a game.
Designs
First of all, What the fuck did they do to the omni-tool?! It's like they changed it just for the sake of change. A lot of the Krogans now look like clowns, all the Turian faceplates look chalk white, and every Asari except Peebee has the same doofy face. The Kett look like they belong in a budget Mass Effect 2 rip off. The Angara look generic, but still have a bit of fun to their designs. It's like no effort was put into designing anything. The alien designs have always one of the best parts of Mass Effect until now.
Roleplaying
All the RPG stats and things you can upgrade are nice, but that's only a small aspect of what I consider important to an RPG. I want the character I'm playing to feel like my character and Ryder never feels like he/she's mine. It's the small thing that matter. I want to be able to turn down drinks with a squadmate, If I'm in charge of a squad I want to be able to command them in combat. The tone wheel feel so much more limiting than what we had in the Shepard trilogy. The 4 tones aren't varied enough and two of them might as well be the same (Logical and Professional).Maybe the should've asked the Dragon Age team for help with the tone wheel (And maybe some other stuff too). The limited Character "Creator" is another thing that keeps Ryder from feeling like he/she is my character. Being stuck with presets is so damn awful. I can only assume it was done for the pointless family stuff.
This is why you don't have the multiplayer team make the single player campaign.
I know this post isn't gonna be popular on here, but I needed to vent my frustrations. Mass Effect was my favorite video game series and now I just feel apathetic towards it.

Finished the game? (Some have) Here's a thread for your thoughts/reviews after completing it.That's plenty of a sample size for me. I'll just wait until it's patched for the PC. Good is okay by me.

I won't poll yet but I'm 1/3-1/2 through all game content (maybe 2/3 through main story) and its a 'Good' on this scale. It has the potential still (if the PROPER patching and expansion content happens) to be Great (though I still wouldn't consider it a more objective GOTY or one of best games ever, etc), and it has enough crucial enough mistakes to be far too close at the moment to an OK.
Certainly not Poor or Awful. At worst, some aspects may be subjectively (all IMO of course) put to Poor, but that doesn't make up the whole thing.
My suggestion to others asking, is that if you find it hard to resist a new ME title, get it. Otherwise, maybe get it or maybe wait some months for at least patches. And unlike previous MEs that for the most part (excepting ME1's clunkyness, ME2's tone, ME3's ending and end-of-trilogy status) I'd rave to others to get this damn game, I am more muted in my enjoyment and recommendation.
Its still good enough for me to play and like a lot of - its just not good enough for me to stay glued to it, suggest it to lots of people, and I'm not sure if it would have made me a ME fan if I started with it (which is something I actually could have said for both ME2 and ME3). That last part might be ME's biggest 'sin' and something I sincerely hope that amazing DLC will rectify.
Frankly, I'm damning with faint praise. Which fittingly I also did when I'd review Omega DLC. (Citadel DLC was bizarre but I'd have fun with it and pick it apart for more personal theories, Leviathan was annoying in its separation from the main game but otherwise fun, From Ashes had the Day 1 controversy but had one of my most favorite, or at least higher rated squadmates)
Omega DLC still doesn't have its animation fix, which depresses me when it comes to MEAs... many.... many animation problems.
