I think it's great, I'm loving this game to death. Finished my first playthrough with Sara last weekend, 98% completion with 113 hours on the clock. Now I'm into my second run, as Scott this time.
As far as I'm concerned it lives up to the Mass Effect name. I've had just as much fun, if not more, with Andromeda as I did in my first playthroughs of the OT games. I think the best compliment I can pay to the game is that I never missed Shepard. I loved the Commander, and I may be the biggest Jennifer Hale fanboy walking this green earth, but never once did I wish I was playing Shepard. I really like the Ryders as protagonists, I think both of their VAs did outstanding work, and I hope to get at least two more games with them.
Same goes for the crew. I really enjoyed getting to know this new team and I want more of them.
I was fortunate to not have any game-breaking bugs but there were a few technical issues that caused me to exit the game. No real progress was lost, though, so mostly it was just minor annoyances but it happened more than I expected it to.
Overall I love it and I'll easily put another couple hundred hours into the campaign, not even counting how much of my life I lose to the MP!

The game has 3 main issues:
1)Poor Narrative (not story). 2)A lot of bugs 3)Bad writing (for mass effect series level of writing)
Is a good game but there is waste potential. Nevertheless I played till the end enjoyed it and am starting to like the new galaxy.

I loved this game. Easily rate it an 8.75. It's not perfect but when it comes to things like glitches - which BW is known for - I really didn't have much of a problem outside of the usual. I don't like the lack of customizability but they do exceptionally well in nearly everything else. I like that the game isn't trying to be the others at all but at the very least respects our intelligence. Pleasantly surprised by it and look forward to more as they improve things.

Good. 7/10.
If the bugs get fixed then it'll probably be a 8/10 or 8.5/10.
I think it's done a good enough job of drawing a line under the trilogy/Shepard, and successfully taken the franchise off in a different direction.
The technical faults have been documented ad infinitum so, suffice to say that all needs fixing.
Particular things I liked - story, Ryder, characters, combat/thruster, R&D/crafting, the Nomad, the Nexus/Aya hubs, conversational tone Things I wasn't overly keen on - limited open world with generic Kett/Remnant encampments, the Archon, custom character designer, music (I can't even remember it!),
I'm on the fence re the romances - romanced Suvi with Sara, and now Cora with Scott - whilst I enjoyed Suvi's romance, it was short/limited. With both, I didn't really feel that I had many alternatives - probably Peebee for both but that's about it.
Overall, the game worked for me. Given that most of the team who made the trilogy seem to have since moved on, and that the end of ME3 left me with a distinct downer on the series, this game's done well in re-sparking my interest. Can't wait for the DLC.

So i just finished my first playthrough and overall i'd give the game 75%. With DLC and patches it might reach 85-90%.
The negative things:-
1) Facial and buggy body animations. 2) Lack of atmospheric music in most areas of the game - especially lacking in the 3 bars/clubs in Andromeda. 3) Tons of in-game stuttering/hitching no matter what settings were used (even on a high end system - GTX 1080Ti, Core i7 6850K, 32GB DDR4 RAM). 4) Too many fruitless fetch quests. 5) Cluttered UI (the research/development UI notably). 6) Not being able to use Squad Powers. 7) Rushed script writing. 8) Copy-pasting the same Asari faces onto every Asari character. 9) Copypasting the same faces on every Angaran (male and female). 10) Re-using Reyes' face model on several other humans. 11) Didn't feel a bond with over half my squadmates even after doing their loyalty missions. 12) No vehicle fights and no cannon on the Nomad. 13) Terrible character creator with so few choices. 14) Plasticine human hair.
The positive things:-
1) The ending did not suck. 2) There was a cool big boss fight before the ending. 3) Jump jets. 4) Great graphics in regards to the scenery and terrain. 5) Plenty of hub worlds. 6) Some nice plot twists from Alec Ryder's hidden memories and about the Quarian Ark at the end. 7) It was fun to switch to the other sibling (even if just for a short while - Bioware should do that for DLC's or if another character has a flashback while telling you their story - you get to play as that character temporarily during the flashback). 8) Being able to choose abilities from several classes to create your own combat play style. 9) The humor 10) The small ties to the original trilogy (Liara's voice message/Garrus' father etc)

So I just finished the game. And I bumped my vote up to great, which may just be the afterglow...
But Bioware games usually flub the landing, but this time, the end was REALLY enjoyable. It had a lot of the better elements from ME2, ME3, and DA2. I even liked the boss fight. Hard enough to be fun, but not just an annoying health whittle. And the end song doesn't suck, though I am constantly amused by Bioware's ending music choice.
Yeah, the animations still aren't good. The creator is painfully limited. There's some wonky design choices, both in and out of narrative. It feels like a few things really needed a bit more polishing, and some chunks of story could have done with an extra editing session. But when all's said and done, I love the combat. I adore most of the characters. There were a lot of good sidequests (maybe too many-- could have whittled those down and beefed up the survivors, but whatever). The worlds are gorgeous, and I liked poking around them. I actually had some fun solving puzzles and jumping around, which usually annoys me in games. And there were a TON of little touches that warmed my heart. So I like it. A lot. It's sure as hell not perfect, but it made me happy and I enjoy the freedom in pacing.

I Love
- the fight scenes where you have numerous of enemies and when you are attacking a base full of kett.
- to fight humanoids rather than the remnant.
- Graphic designs of the world's.
- the sex scenes in romancing.
- the nomad. A crazy car to drive in
- the APV and Apex
- the storyline for Alex. It is always fantastic to return to mass effect and get a good story. That is one of the reason why I play mass effect. Just to bad the character look are that bad.
I dislike
- the menu and map system. It can be hard to find what you are looking for and the fact when you are on the map, then you have to press ESC two times before getting into the game again.
- this open world. It looks just to much starwars old republic, world of warcraft and other MMO games. I like the open game, when you are in a mission. That you have the possibility to move around as you want.
- all these cutscenes, like leaving and entering a planet. To take the tube at nexus. To travel around to all planets and scanning. If it is because we have to load the game, then make more different cutscenes, so we don’t see the same, again and again.
- all this running and travelling to places. Make it possible to travel fast to a place you have been before for ex. kadara. All this waste time on the map, cutscenes again and again and travelling. If anything should happen, then just cut in with a cutscene and continue from there.
- scanning planets. If you wanna keep up with scanning planets, then make it possible to send out drones that do the work.
- the graphic work on the characters. I’m missing the whole face expressions. The only part where it nearly felt normal, was when cora was seducing Alex. Also the look on the Asari is just the same. Make every face unique. Maybe hire some real actors. Copy their faces, mimic and maybe copy the whole face and use that for newcomers in the next game, that I hope will come
- I like the eyeballs on many characters, especially the angaran. They look amazing
- all the puzzle games with the remnant. It was just too much.
- that the tempest are 2 decks. All this running up and down to find the right person, to start the ship and so on. If it have to be 2 decks, then make it possible to communicate with the bridge, if they have to fly to place you already know.
- that the romancing goes so slow and that you cannot control more of the action to do more romancing. It ends up with one sexual account (if you are lucky). I hope there will be much more in MEA 2
I Miss
- more “quick travel” points as on Aya. When I visit Nexus, it could be nice with the possibility to travel quick to cryo, instead of all this running and travel with train.
- meeting more aliens. Here we have only met the Angara, the kett (that sounds like coming from some other galaxy) and the remnant. The galaxy feels so empty so far in andromeda.
- that the romance part are more open. Make it possible to call or write emails and invite whoever you want for dinner, a night out or to your room. Maybe make the romance part or some of it optional, so there will be a romance storyline beside of the main storyline, so players can choose whatever they want to do more romantic stuff or going on with the main story. It should also be possible to break up
- finding new stories on discovered planets.
- to find special and unique weapons that we cannot make.

Either they're boring, the combat sucks, the jokes suck, the story sucks, the characters suck, or the protagonist sucks. Frequently all of the above. So I really like it when I come across one I do. Granted, my jam is mostly Bioware RPGs, MMOS (I do love MMO PvP), and strategy games with a lot of going toe to toe with the 'enemy' and a cool story.

I voted great and i think it's worth every letter of "great".
Even if MEA has some rough spot like the no quicksave function or simply bad point (some of the animation are really bad just like people pointed out but ofc the majority are simply decent) the overall quality of combat,exploration and world building make the whole experience whortwhile.
Exploring is the cornerstone of this game. Finding new stuff on each planet was my primary motivator, completing that quest so you can unlock a new piece of lore or info about remnant,angara or kett gave me almost the same pleasure as speding time with the new crew members. I find the new companions as charming as the normandy crew in ME1 i want to know more of Jaal or Drak as much as i wanted to know more of Garrus or Wrex.
The combat is exceptional in my opinion the flexibility and fluidness of the various profile the mobility of Ryder during combat is way above the cover system of ME1-3 (even if the auto cover sometime gave my some facepalm moment) but i really didn't liked the removal of the ability to use the companion abiiity for the combo system.
The main story while i find it good have a big lul in the middle due to the open worldness of the game, basically if you spend a lot of time exploring and do side quests the plot lose his sense of urgency.
Side quests are of varying quality some are really good like Jaal personal quest other are simply filler go there-kill x-done but truth be told there is nothing that come close to the bloody baron or the skellige succesion quest of witcher 3 (i'm not a fucking fanboy of W3 but i give creadit where is due those 2 quest are really of superb quality)
Cannot wait for dlc and ofc for MEA2

After completing (took me around 70 hours), I would give it an 8.5
Graphics (8/10): they do the job. Shaders are impressive in some moments. The artistic direction is mixed, with character and planet design of moderate quality, but with places like alien temples and ships, underground ice caves and Havarl (a jungle-type planet) that are amazing. Regarding the “facial animations” issue, it’s definitely a minor thing mainly affecting Director Addison. There are some bugs going on though for example jumping animations breaking or enemies losing their animations too and becoming paralyzed, these happen sadly often.
Sound (8/10): music is one of the weak points of the game, the music is not “bad” but it is quickly forgotten and lacks personality, being just your average science-fiction theme music. The voice acting, however, is just perfect.
Gameplay (8/10): The combat is a lot of fun, dynamic and an evolution of the trilogy. However some combat elements are gone like the ability to choose the specific skills you want a partner to use. Regarding the exploration, Bioware is still a bit amateur building large/open worlds. ME:A has several big planets that are superficially interesting and motivate some exploring, but you quickly realize there’s not a lot to do in them and it’s better to move on. The puzzles are repetitive and reduced to sudoku-like games, which speaks of little effort or originality from the developers. Same goes to scanning minigames which get repetitive too fast. Regarding the “less dialogue” options, it is not true. From the original “good/bad” dichotomy, we now have 2 dichotomies: the emotional approach will give the opposite results of the logical approach, while the professional approach will give the opposite results of the casual approach. Regarding the “limited type of enemies” issue, it isn’t true either, in the original mass effect there were mostly 3 factions of enemies per game, as like the reapers, the geth and bandits (meaning renegade/pirates etc). In Andromeda you still have 3 factions: the remnant, the kett and bandits.
Story/Setting (9/10): Let’s start with the characters. Ryder is not as attractive as Shepard, but instead is kind of a regular person and overall likeable. It lacks personal growth though, as his personality and reactions stay pretty much the same from start to finish. Regarding the crew we have brilliant characters like Peebe, very human-like ones like Cora, mixed with the quite forgettable rest. This is mainly an issue with their personalities being unimpressive, not so much with them lacking depth, because all of them have a big amount of dialogue and side content behind, probably more than any character of the original trilogy. Some non-party members would have been a much better choice to be party members, like Reyes, Sloanne, the pathfinders, etc. Lastly the villains, named the Kett, are mysterious enough to remain interesting until the end, but do not expect something as innovative and overwhelming as the Reapers. Regarding the plot, it is overall in the same level of quality as ME1, with your regular dose of twists and intrigue, but it should be noted it is heavily inspired by the trilogy, and the parallelisms makes some situations/discoveries too familiar to be exciting. The side content is mainly of moderate quality, with uninteresting plots that lack any connection to the protagonist, the main story or the party to stay relevant. Party members related quests being the exception. One of the big drawbacks of the game is the setting/universe. Andromeda planets fail big time to impress you, mainly because nearly none of them feel “alien”, but rather chunks of familiar Earthly ecosystems like deserts or the Arctic that kind of kill the mood for exploration after a couple hours on the planet. The lack of ideas in this aspect becomes evident when you reach the second desert-like planet. One was more than enough... The fact that they lack “time” was also a disappointing, meaning they lack things like a day/night cycle, or a “life cycle” for inhabitants, that is to say NPCs are static elements in the scene instead of moving and/or interacting with their surroundings (like they do in Skyrim or The Witcher 3). Also the Angara race, the -only- Andromeda new humanoid friendly species, are a bit disappointing too, feeling painfully familiar and lacking personality. Regarding the ending, epilogue included, it was mostly up to my expectations and made up for many of the flaws I saw throughout the game, but a “big last boss” would have been a good addition.
In summary, the game still has the Mass Effect feel to it and will keep u hooked until the end, but the evident quantity over quality approach prevents it from being at the level of the original trilogy.

I gave it benefit of the doubt and put it in great as it was great to play a Bioware game and really enjoy it unlike DAI.
I thought the gameplay was very good. I liked how they approached the exploarable areas & the quest lines there were generally enjoyable, applicable to the role etc.
Character: Ryder has a bit too much of his own personality for my liking. I'd much prefer a Me1/2 approach. Felt at times the dialogue tones were too inhibiting. I'd very much have liked options to be more aggressive or direct. At times Ryder was just too passive/naive. I liked the family angle and how it was slowly revealed, sibling worked well, alec ryder was voiced excellently but was frustrated at dialogue options in relation to alec's choices.
Story. The remnant were fascinating & i'm genuinely excited to see more of what the builders were all about. The Angaran & Kett were interesting additions. The main problem the story had was a weak antagonist in the form of the Archon. Still lots of the side story content was fantastic, including lots of exploration dilemnas and some genuinely tough choices.
Squad. I love Peebee, Cora & Jaal. Drack is pretty much par for the course as a Krogan. Thought Liam and Vetra were the characters i struggled to grow any attachment to. Of rest of crew Gil annoyed me from the start, the rest i liked.
Romances. I spent first half of game seesawing between Peebee & Cora. Both were very captivating. In the end the flirty sexual remnant loving Peebee won out though i'm planning to see how Cora pans out with a new ryder. Very nice to see Bioware unafraid to show a bit of flesh & avoiding the tired hookup before final mission approach. After finding DAI in regards romance it's a relief to come away impressed. Though clearly gay men haven't come away as impressed and i can see why after encountering Gil in the game.
Hope someone scuttles the Tempest and builds a proper ship. What a mess, no weapons, no shuttles etc.

I've been having fun with this game. One of the things I'm loving that alot of people seem to hate is the tone. I LOVE the tone of this game, it actually feel different then the overly always serious boring tones we get in alot of games now days. Maybe it's just me but I'm loving how lighter the tone seems to feel. It makes the dark stuff that is in the game feel that much darker when you run into it.

I enjoyed it greatly hence the great rating. Only problems were the animations, glitches and the star map with pointless unskippable cut scenes, the whole navigation system was just bad. I still cannot and will not comprehend why they released it in this state, the facial expressions can turn even the most serious scenes into a parody.

It is probably less considering the actual number of people who tried to play this game but could not finish. I wish there was such option on the poll. FYI, seems like 383 registered users completed the game as of now. The forum has about 7600 registered users. Looks like 5%. There are plenty of people who play multiplayer and never even tried single player, not sure how many. it might be interesting to see how many people playing but did not complete.

Finally. I can write it here.
I think the game is good, but it could've been better (and, probably, with some luck and patches it still may be).
The Good: -Characters writing. I'm not sure why some people dislike the new 'cast'. I've been VERY cautious and sceptical, and my expectations were well below 'neutral', but I loved most of them once I knew them better. TONS of amazing banters and character\character interactions, unlike MET, where most we could have is a small talk between the mission and\or remark during the mission. ME3 had got it right with its 'normandy banters', but MEA has MORE of this stuff - Nomad banters, 'field' commentaries, Tempest BBS( maan, loved it - wish they had used it more often). Once again, I should say that there's a huge difference between the 'bad\unlikable\annoying character' and the 'badly written character'. I thought PB was anoying like hell, but I can appreciate the writer's work - they did good.
-NPC interactions. I had not seen so many of them since..I don't know, it made me think of KOTOR, DAO and 'oldschool' BW. It was refreshing to see it again and to have people who are there just to talk. They express their feelings, explain lore etc. Most of them are not even the quest-givers (although some are).
-Visuals. While some planets are more 'generic' than the others, I think they've got that 'exploring the huge galaxy' right. It's ME1 back again. Havarl, Vaults, H-047c. World-design is good, and even the most 'generic' planets (like Hoth Voeld) had it shining and beautiful moments.
- The ambient music\ soundscape yes, it's actually there and it's good. Its' true that MEA does not have proper 'themes' in its OST, but all the 'background' music is there for the player, and it fulfills its purpose - sets the tone & mode.
- Comabt dynamics It's ok. Note that I'm talking about the overal 'responsiveness and feels' here, not about the skills\profiles system - more to it later. Jetpack, jumps and stick-to-cover work well (most of the times)
- The planetary\side-missions. This game has its share of 'generic fillers', but it also has its memorable minor plotlines and\or quests.
The 'Not so Bad':
- The Big Story Yeah, well...it has flawes, YES. So true on many levels, but neither of MEs was a 'flawless gem' on that matter. Even ME1 (the most consistent one) had some logic issues and those B-movie 'talking villian' Saren\Benezia scenes. And if you love ME2, then there's literally no reasons for you to hate MEA.
- Galaxy map It looks good (breathtaking when you get to it for the first time), but it gets old eventually. It's a nice touch, and we have that 'skip' button now.
- The skill\combat system It's a mixed bag. Not being limited to the class is fun...but being limited to 3 buttons is not. By the time you get enough skillpoints to experiment with alternate profiles, you might think something like 'why even bother?'. Some may find more use to the profiles, but I've barely switched it
The Ugly. - UI And before someone comments on the ' evil cnsoles and gamepads' - NO, it's not 'optimized for the gamepad'. It's just a messy and non-intuitive and non-user-friendly UI, with awkward menus. People have to google for the basic features like 'how to use the consumables' (or 'how to return to Tempest on a certain planet').
- Crafting I was surprised to see how lacklustre and ruined the system is. DAI had great crafting system, and I was expecting MEA to follow the model...which it did...in theory. Crafting is OP (as usual), but we only have ONE armor-set per 'class'\gameplay. There's only ONE craftable armor with tech bonuses, one with biotics, one for the headshots etc. So, basically it's like ME3 with its 'class-specific' components, but you have to craft and upgrade them (and I think ME3 had MORE variations, actually -e.g. recharge speed vs tech power).
We only craft for Ryder (because squad uses their 'iconic' outfits). Remember Liam explaining how we have all kinds of guns and mods? Well, he had lost his interest in that variety, along with the rest of the squad. They won't change their weapons, not even to the same-class weapons...and guess what? We still see 'the magic Avenger' in some cut-scenes.
The UI is especially bad with this one. Good luck trying to find out how to reuse the same augmentation!.. (hint - you need to unequip the item and destroy it. Then you get your mods back. One heat-sink per inventory, man!)
- Some side-missions. I've listed some as good, but there were some really terrible ones too. They are not that numerous though, and on your second PT you may just skip this shit and avoid the suffering. Not spoiling the details here - if you're into spoilers, there are some threads running in the 'spoiler' zone.
- Character screentime - it's realy NOT equal, and while I understand that it's impossible to 100% balance the story with writing obectives like '20 minutes per each character', Id rather see more 'equality'. Writers should remember that forcing the characters onto player is generally not the best idea, it may hurt even the best-written ones. I know that BP (or Liara) are not responsible for such a treatment, but it's there and it's annoying.
- Sudoku. It's less PITA now that they have patched more keys and made them cheaper, but man.. whoever thought that playing sudoku (LOTS of them) is mandatory for the Mass Effect game should get some rest. Mini-games are fun when they are played for fun (aka 'optional').
-boss\encounter design A huge step back after ME3. Rannoch Reaper? Tuchanka Reaper? Fighting Harvester or escaping banshee? Taking down the thrasher maw? Forget it. We've got 1 mini-boss (reused several times, I think I had killed 5 or 6 of them, and I had skipped some content), 2 'big mobs' (destroyer + fiend) and a dragon huge and optional worm-like thing.
The Final Fight had essentialy same thingI've been shooting for 100 hours with the same objectives borrowed from the multiplayer. I'd never think that I can possibly bring ME2 human reaper boss fight as an example of anything, but at the very least it was different. Basically all the encounters had strong 'MP' feeling about them - fight the wave of generic goons + take care of the 'boss' (which has same reused mechanics). The fact, that squad has issues with targeting specific boss parts (floating orb, which keeps the shields on) did not make it any more enjoyable.

You've got an interesting idea about how statistic & forums work... Among 7600 users it's may be 10-20% who actually post and visit frequently.
By no means it means (bad pun, I know) that only 400 (by now) out of 7600 had completed the game.

If you make a game based on an established IP, you actualy stay "on course" or add something new, you usualy (and should not) go back and take away. The characters are not bad, true. But their lack of interaction with the story (everything Ryder does) makes them very unmemorable. Squad banter in the field, we had it in ME already, and people loved it, so we got more of it in DA2 already, and even more in ME2/3/DAI. So nothing new. Squad on tempest...we had it from the very first game, now they added some "live" to it by moving the crew around. And giving them some "off mission" lines. That is good. Having them in our "base of operations" is actualy soemthing we had since KOTOR. Squad on hub worlds with a few lines... again nothing new, we had this in DA2 ME3 and DAI. But what they removed: In almost all conversations (and thus decision making) we had in previous games, we saw our squad there and they were doing something, sometimes just standing around, but their poses and face expressions (as low as they were) gave us a hint about their feeling, but most of the time they had somethng to say, giving valuable (not realy vital) insights, maybe even changing our prespective. THAT made the crew/squad good and memorable (Garrus was actualy not such a great NPC in the first ME). Now, in almost all major conversations Ryder is alone and during minor conversations the cam just zooms in on Ryder, the NPCs we talk to walk offscreen so we barely hear them and our squad is somewhere far away so we dont hear them either. Except for a few cutscenes, the crew is missing, thats why they are so forgetable. Banter, chatting at the base, "personal" (loyalty missions) is all good stuff, but char involvement is NECCESSARY.

ME1 only had 'elevator banters', but nothing planet-side (other than a line or two on some ongoing things). They also had several 'click-phrases'. It was a repeated line, spoken when you 'talk' to squad member, depended on the current location e.g. 'too many lights, too much noise' - Kaidan in Chora's den.
ME2 did not have banters per se, but it had several 'view points'.
MEA has MAGNITUDE more party banters than ME1, probably more than all the MET combined. Comparable with DAO (doors & bridges had been used for triggers there).
You had been playing some the different ME1, I take it. ME1 did NOT have Normandy character\character banters (it only had elevators or cut-scenes)
ME2 had some tiny bits of it (Ken+Gaby, Normandy crew commenting on the ongoing mission or their 'calamari gumbo' dinner)
ME3 had character\character convos aboard the Normandy. And so does MEA. That + the nomad banters + BBS + comments and extra special lines in some missions\places)
Not sure what you mean by this. Jaal, Liam, PB and Cora were prety much 'involved' into the story, and so was Drack during the krogan\bandits-related mission, and so was Vetra. I'd be glad to see PB less involved, but I can live with that 'as is'. Each one had their own buisness & motives during the game, each one had unique relations with Ryder and each other. If that's 'not involved' for you, that I can hardly imagine what is.

"A game is a series of meaningful choices" - Sid Meier. This is a completely subjective opinion and supposed to be considered as such. Completed the game yesterday (96%). MEA is a light-hearted adventure with overwhelming feeling of discovery and exploration. Here are some thoughts: - Graphics are adequate (animations, textures, etc). Space looks gorgeous and I got used to some scenes (to hide loading screens?) being unskippable. I guess, instead of 2.5D maps, a couple of menus would be sufficient (but less impressive).
- Sound (soundtrack, VA) is not annoying, which equals "good".
- The plot is a little tricky to describe - linear Priority missions are sad (I can't plan and have to rely on dumb luck and Deus ex Machine). The last few missions severely limited player's agenda,
the only way to progress was to disobey orders (without suffering any consequences), instead of at least trying to reason (from persuasion to blackmailing) with Tann. In comparison, Dishonored 2 and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided both had large maps and multiply ways to achieve objective (neither was an RPG, though). Meridian did show impact from the previous choices, which is ultimately good. - Too many cut-scenes, where it should have been gameplay sequences -
fight in bar with Drack, climbing with Vetra or poker with Gil. Assassin's Creed III done it right - in one of the missions the player had actually not-to-lose a checker match for several turns.
- Companions are great (except for one time, when
one of them bribed an Initiative worker and the player couldn't do a thing about it, it hurt my Lawful Neutral alignment badly). I think, Liam's Loyalty Mission had a lot of self-conscious irony from Bioware. Combat-wise it's hard to attempt anything more tactical, than "let's focus on that enemy". Lack of control is disappointing. SAM is one of the best aspects of the game, both gameplay- and story-wise.
- Gameplay (excluding Priority Missions) is diverse, challenging, and enjoyable. There are freedom of movement and possibility of different approaches. I tried to play as an Infiltrator with only melee weapons and was quite successful at it (Observers, Architects and kett-in-bubbles being exceptions). The combat could be better with more attack options for melee weapon (attack chains, parry, block, roll, etc.).
- Dialogues. It wasn't always obvious if a reply is a variation of "okay" and irrelevant or if it affects quest's outcome
(e.g. in "Contagion" difference between "save the hostage/destroy the terrorist" was clear; in the Task on Kadara with SOS signal, it was not). Sometimes neither of options was close to my choice
(e.g. "Little Things That Matter" missed the opportunity to give up "the first human born in Andromeda" for adoption and throw the thief in jail).
- Side quests in general are engaging and challenging ("Scan 16 minerals" included, because those were hard enough to find).
- Crafting could be worse, could be better.
- The Nomad is one of the best transports I've ever used.
- CC was too hard to use effectively, so I chose the default face for the 1st PT and set to show helmet "as equipped" (the game occasionally took it off, though).
- UI is fairly comfortable after some time - I was able to use keyboard only for navigation through menus. Inventory lacks function to sort content and limited to 80 items (these aspects combined make it somehow bearable).
- PC controls are comfortable, it's possible to bind 2 button to 1 action (separately for Nomad, normal and travel parts) and support for 5-button mice.
As a side note to the main story line - apparently Unit 731 will provide background for villains for many games ahead. Gamers must not feel any sympathy to antagonists, so it must be either zombies or robots or very unethical people. /sarcasm
As a side note to the world-building - the Abyssal Worm is a proof of "if it has HP, I can kill it". The Worm doesn't seem to have HP, only damage. Amazing creature. /no sarcasm

Finished last night at near 100% at over 100 hrs as there were a couple of quests I could not seem to finish.
Overall, I would rate it somewhere between 8.5 to 9. Its was no where near perfect but I was engaged the entire 100 hrs so that definitely means something. I think ultimately its value to me will be through its future playthroughs and how much is added with DLCs and sequels.
Pros:
- I really enjoyed the story. While the dialogue could be hit and miss, the character were unique and fleshed out nicely through the narrative. The only character I didn't really connect with was Liam as he seems to be suffering a bit from "Kaiden/Jacob disease" but I am going to take him out more on my next playthrough to see if he grows on me. Tagging on to that, the loyalty and main mission are among the best BioWare have done.
- The Nomad is top-notch and is everything I wanted the Mako to be in ME1. Also, loved the fact you could upgrade and paint it to your specifications. They definitely knocked the ball out of the park on that one.
- The combat and level designs are some of the best in the series. The Frostbite 3 engine allowed BioWare to create a more dynamic battlefield and the jetpack gives you an opportunity to seamlessly progress around the encounters.
- I really enjoyed the Angara culture and Jaal's writing. It didn't feel like a re-hash of the Milky Way characters we've already are familiar with.
Cons:
- Disappointed in the changes to the Asari. Peebee was very distinct and fun but the rest appear to come out of the same mold. Hopefully, a patch later on can add some distinction to their toons. - While I really enjoyed the story and the characters, I felt the narrative should have been tighter. Going forward, BioWare is going to have to figure out a way to balance this aspect with their open world games if they want to continue in that direction. - They need to bring back companion customization as I think it helps you connect better with your crew and commanding them is more tactical. In the end, though, I enjoyed it, thought it was well conceived and look forward to starting my next playthrough.

I rated the game as Ok. Just Ok. I very much wanted it to be great, or better because it was one of the games that I'd been looking forward to since it was first announced way back when. What I liked: - I didn't mind the animation. Glitches happen. Odds are, they'll be fixed. Can I do any better? Nope and my little bit of dallying with animation programs can't even come close to what the devs have given us so... make do, perfection doesn't exist yet, and let my imagination fill in the blanks.
- Loved the combat. Considering I really only play for the story, combat is somewhere in the background so when I did have to fight it looked "pretty", was easy to wrap my head around, I slaughtered the enemy and I didn't die... much.
- The scenery and ambiance; the planets and pseudo open world. Loved it. Loved being curious about "over there" and be able to wander in a direction to actually see.
- The banter and interaction... though only in part. The banter was fantastic! Loved listening my squad mates as we traveled or on the Tempest.
...I'm sure there are things I'm forgetting. What I did NOT like: - I disliked the MAKO, back in the trilogy, and I loathe it (now called the NOMAD) still. I had hoped to be able to use mouse and keyboard drive around as we'd done with the mounts in Dragon Age: Inquisition rather than WASD. Exploration with the NOMAD went as far as whatever I stumbled upon getting from one drop zone to the next so that I could fast travel later on. I'd wanted to be able to explore but either driving at a snail's pace or constantly fast traveling my way out of a mess was more frustrating that it was worth for a #spoonie.
- I disliked the repetitiveness of MOB speech triggers when one got too close. Hearing how the Angara called home, on the Nexus, was really nice... the first 8 times. After that, I tried to take an alternative route past him get where I needed to be.
- I play Bioware titles, in particular, for the story and romances are part of it; they've been a part of the stories since DA:O and well into ME. In this title, though, unless I wanted to romance Cora, Peebee or Jaal, I was SOL with something just slightly shy of a grade-school, maaaaaybe spin-the-bottle, chaste crush. I know that DAI and MEA had 2 different devs, and were worked upon around the same time but weren't they allowed to share notes when it came to character relationship development and progression?
- Character creation, but that's most people's grief. Again, I can "make do" for the most part but just couldn't wrap my head around some of the beady eyed models where the irises were, to me, unrealistically tiny for how wide the eyes were opened. And, no, those weren't fixed with the last update; only the shading and color-depth were.
Otherwise, finished playthrough number 2 but probably won't again until there is some sort of DLC. Story, in addition to the main story, matter to me. Character development and immersion matter to me. My Ryder's gonna die a spinster, at this rate.
