I said before release that I was expecting something similar to Dragon Age II1: flawed, but still having good points and generally no where near as bad as the detractors made it out to be. That's exactly what I got.

My 2 Cents regarding Mass Effect: Andromeda (Warning: Spoilers) After playing through the whole campaign and doing all the quests. (Some additional tasks leftover) I left myself 2 weeks before writing my following thoughts on the game. I am not a fan of watching or reading critics regarding the medium I am going to see/play/read. (No trailers if I can help it) I usually try everything not to spoil myself in any way, not tainting my thoughts and what I personally think of that medium. With Mass Effect: Andromeda this wasn't so easy. Mainly because of Origin Access, with which one could "test" the game. The game was soon all over the internet and not in a good way. So I cannot really say in good conscience that I am not biased. (The whole "my face is tired" thing was just too big) But what I have learned from experience is that more often than not you can be surprised in a good way if you only heard bad critic before. So I always try to stay open minded. I played the original trilogy so I guess I have certain expectations of a new Mass Effect. And technology-wise it has been 10 years since the first Mass Effect. Combat: I want to start with something that I personally really enjoyed. Which was the movement in the combat system. I was pleasantly surprised when I noticed that you are not glued to the floor any more. Since ME:2 I always chose the Vanguard class since it was the only one with the "charge" ability. Meaning more mobility in a game which heavily relied on a cover system. Andromeda introduced a wide variety of new movement options and a new dimension in combat. Air-dash ,dash, biotic- Jet-jump, hover and I really enjoyed these new options to battle my enemies. The old "press X to snap to cover" system was replaced with a "take cover automatically if the circumstances allow it". I personally never had the problem that the new cover system misbehaved. ---For me this is the best improvement made from the old games regarding the tech department.--- The combat system itself is very similar the ME:3 Multiplayer system. You have all the abilities from the old games plus new ones available and you can even customize them to fit your play style. There is nothing for me to complain about a system that has already been polished since the original trilogy. Solid and responsive. Very fun to play. The only thing I can say is well done for porting it to the frostbite engine. I also like the new "Profile" system. Practically changing your "class" and the three skills depending on the situation is nice. Although the standard F-keys are awkward to reach mid-fight. Radial Menu would have been nice for me. If it exists, it didn't work for me/didn't find it. Graphics: The game really looks good in the new engine. Sometimes a bit too many particle effect for me which leave me disoriented. (Even with minimal effects in the settings) I am bothered with the Asari faces though. Everyone looks like a clone now. The same face. Ugh. The humans are also pretty bad. The latest patches already changes the eyes but that should be better in the year 2017. You could do it in "Dragon Age: Inquisition" why not here? UI: The UI in Andromeda is everything but user friendly. Cluttered and unintuitive. I often found myself at a loss with how the quests were shown and how the journal worked. Quests regarding allies, side-quests, and general Heleus quests all have their own category. Which makes it really hard to find out if you want to know whether you have any open quests left on a planet. The only way to know, is flying to that planet and in orbit you can see all the quests that are still open. Either do this, or look at every single quest in the journal to see where you have to go. With the side-quests you had to find out on your own where you have to go sometimes. Some quests don't have a map marker. Regarding some quests, I understand that concept. Like the bartender on the nexus that needs plants. With others I found it very tedious. Like the search for remnant devices. I would really have liked to know, where I found each device so that I don't have to visit the vaults again just to check whether I already got it from there. While on the planet your map shows you where the quests are. I really would have liked a list of some sort, where I can quickly select the quest I want to do. At the moment you have to check every quest to see where the one is you want to do or battle yourself through the journal. But it wasn't so much of a problem for me since I am trying to do every quest anyway. Gameplay: I like the idea of a crafting mechanic. But I am disappointed with the realization. Every weapon/armour being craftable from the beginning was a bit overwhelming. And in this kind of UI really annoying to navigate. Maybe a little love for the PC faction? (Assuming it was made that way because of consoles) That would have been nice. More armour options would have been nice, and the ability to change armour/weapons of your companions. (I guess I am the only one that misses that feature since ME1. At least regarding armour) I like the Nomad. Feels responsive and great to drive around with. Things that are annoying: Not being able to board my ship without leaving the planet. This is one of the most annoying little things in Andromeda for me. Was no Problem in 2007, why is it a problem in 2017? Unskippable Cutscenes everywhere. Boarding the Tempest -> cutscene. Landing the Tempest -> Cutscene. By the time I am writing this the unskippable "flying to planets" cutscenes actually received a skip function. So that's nice. Atmosphere/immersion/story: In Mass Effect: Andromeda you are the Pathfinder that has to save mankind the other species that travelled with you to the new Galaxy by finding habitable planets since the ones that were supposed to be "golden worlds" are all not able to sustain an extensive amount of settlers. One would think that with everything that happened (Golden Worlds not being "golden", hostile aliens) everyone would be a bit more grim. That the atmosphere is dark and heavy. But it's not. Usually everyone is so damn hopeful and optimistic, I can't believe it. One of the parts I enjoyed the most was actually the short bit on the Asari Ark. The whole theme there was pretty gritty, grim and heavy and I thought for the first time that the atmosphere actually fits. Which leads me to the part of the game which I disliked the most: The main character and his/her disposition to the whole matter. For the record, I played Scott Ryder. So there might have been a difference to my experiences. I couldn't really identify with the MC since he felt so disconnected from everything that was happening around him. I think the "casual" answers bothered me the most. The answer given through that channel were so out of the way, obvious and often unnecessary that it hurt. Both casual and professional often let me think: "I didn't want to say that. At least not this way". Effectively not using them when I had the chance. In every dialogue something always bothered me: You couldn't really be an asshole to people. I didn't feel as If you could go "renegade", if you want to speak in terms of the old trilogy. I usually played it 60 % Paragon 40 % Renegade but in Andromeda I was suddenly forced to play 99% Paragon simply because I didn't even had the option not to. Everything felt like a happy tea party and the moments which were more renegade like ended up being a break of character for me, since the MC usually played the good guy. Not that I had a choice, but in these moments it really felt out of place. On the whole I actually think the story has a lot of potential and is well written. But the delivery of it leaves much to be desired. This kind of story is told through its people (in this case the npcs and MC) you interact with. I think the whole animations gone wrong discussion is actually only the tip of the iceberg. If you watch a movie and see the actor instead of the character he is supposed to play, that actor failed. It is the same with the MC in Andromeda for me. I simply didn't buy it. It might have to do with the fact, that you can't go renegade. (Limited Options) It might have to with how the character is supposed to be (saviour of all species). But I simply can't identify myself with the MC. One thing came to my mind after a while of playing. And that was: What a horribly generic character. You could argue that Shepard, from the original trilogy, was also pretty generic. Hell yeah he was. But I thought Mark Meer did a damn fine job in bringing the whole character to life. So maybe the actors did a bad job? Maybe. I had my share of laughs. (Ryder talking to himself) Good moments where I thought: "yeah that was witty". But overall I think I am disappointed. In conclusion I can only say, that it is maybe an amalgamation of all these things that let me think, that in the whole companion/dialogue department we actually made 3 steps back since the first ME and to be fair I must admit that in the beginning of the game it was worse than in the end. But maybe I simply got used to it. So I will try to stay open minded. Maybe Ryder will find out he has a dark side eventually In my wall of text you see that I often refer to the old trilogy. Always in cases where the original trilogy did it better. And this is also one of the things I do not understand. If something is good, and it works. Why change it, to make it bad? Change it to make it better? Yes, please! But if you go with a feature again, why make it bad? Since we function in away that bad things stay longer in memory than good things one might think I had a horrible time playing Andromeda but all in all I really enjoyed Andromeda though not the new MC and the options given on how you (have to) play him. (Only referring to Dialogue) I could write a more here, actually examining every aspect thoroughly but I wanted to keep it to a "minimum". Hopefully I was able to bring my point across. (Sorry for bad english)

Think it's time I finally get my own review out. Was wanting to get 2 playthroughs done to really get a full on understanding but I just can't.
I think the game is an ok game, it's not great, not memorable, already lacks replay value for me and it's not awful as some hype it up to be. It's probably the first one and done mass effect game for me which says a lot cuz I love this franchise and I played the OT dozens of times.
Narrative: is pretty bland and really just copies off mass effect OT rather than being new and original. The kett are like the collectors, but do show more size being they're an empire and will likely be in future games. The nomad and tempest are just remakes of the mako and normany. Even the crew share similarities with the original. Peebee was a huge disappointment and is pretty much a liara 2.0 but loses the appeal since "been there, done that". There is also no urgency to finishing the main plot, you're not pressured to care as the Archon doesn't really show himself as a threat untill the very end where it doesn't matter lol.
Dialogue: it's "so-so". Because andromeda has the most dialogue ever I was expecting some conversations to fall short, but some of it really stands out as childish. "I think I pissed him off, maybe it's cause I shot him in the face", or certain romance conversations like suvi where Ryder just loses it and fumbles for words. It's also irking how Ryder essentially says the same thing in 4 ways rather than those 4 options being actually unique from one another. I support bioware using the new system, but not if they can't even make it work like people were expecting it to.
Decisions: for the most part they didn't really matter in this game. What did I exactly gain sacrificing the salarians pathfinder for krogan scouts? Having them how up in the last mission really doesn't cut it, especially if bioware does indeed intend to stop decisions carrying over from game to game as that then makes me not care or even analyze the decisions nor is it worth going back to replay. They need to step up on this aspect as it's part of what made the OT good to an extent.
Characters: were pretty much hit and miss but they were the only reason stuck it out to finish. Drack offers a new perspective from a krogan being how he's old enough where he was alive when the genophage occurred. He's a relic to his people and disagrees on keeping his own well being. Vetra is a caring sister who has done bad in her past, worries it can then carry over to her sister, and overall believed in the new start of the initiative. Cora upset at young Ryder becoming pathfinder questions the decision but ultimately supports it, she also gets expanded on in the Asari ark quest line which is by far my favorite. She believed in Sarrissa only to find out everything she knew if Sarrissa was a lie as she abandoned her oath to the Asari pathfinder for data vs the kett and transportation around the scourge, and tries hiding that information as well. Liam was an annoying wreckless member, suprising for someone that was in the police force and crisis response being how I'd see him the one that needs saving. Jaal was a generic alien and just another humanoid at that with more "emotions" showing through.
Combat: overall I view it as a downgrade. We went from 7? 8? Abilities to only three, and the profiles having cool downs really makes it pointless to me. Not to mention the damage capabilities of the powers are so minimal that I pretty much went the route if a soldier/engineer combo that was weapon focused.the gun play itself is great and is a huge improvement, but the abilities being restricted, the loss of tactical mode, and auto cover (I preferred manually moving cover to cover rather than auto sticking to objects) just makes me view it as a downgrade.
Weapons: seem to have been downgraded damage wise but there is still variety. Most pistols and smgs really aren't viable unless you're ok with bullet sponge enemies. The same case can be made for half the assault rifles/snipers/shot guns. I also miss the three round burst vindicator AR.
Inventory system: huge disappointment and really no reason to have it because if lacking features. It's disorganized, can't change gear on the fly, easy to fill up very quickly (especially before the patch), and it needs setup bettervwhere mods and materials don't take up space.
Crafting: serves same purpose as inquisitions but is also disorganized. It could also use some more personalization such as what the armor looks like, the color of your weapons, and maybe rebalancing the modifications. It also needs to remove weapons that have been surpassed. Example being why keep the Valkyrie lols 1-9 if you have a lvl 10? It just means you have to sift through weapons just to find the one you're looking for.
Exploration: another reason I do enjoy the game. It's the closest thing since ME1 and it shows off the environments the game has and the capabilities of the frost bite 3 engine. I'm no longer restricted to corridors like ME2+3 and I can evaluate the wildlife, remnant structures, anomalies, and branch out to the side quests and tasks if I wanted. It's an aspect I want the future mass effect games to hold onto as it best represents what mass effect was originally meant to be.
The quests themselves: the main line quests, loyalty missions, and a few other side quests hold up fine in quality, but they need to get more into these open world esq environments if they're going to make it work. While better than the inquisition, it still isn't good enough and will continue to be mentioned in reviews and by other members of the community.
Nomad: improves over the mako pretty much is all I can say. I don't slide off mountains as easily but it'd be better to have it maintain its speed at all times rather than having us switch to 6 wheel drive or 4, that is a pointless addition added just cuz. I know others bring up it's lack of weapons but it's not an issue personally. It's not meant to be used for combat nor have I ever felt like I needed one for it when using it to explore.
The Normandy 3.0, err I mean tempest: I actually like its setup. You can customize gear, change your looks, talk to the crew, all without load screens. My only question is why no weapons? Regardless if it's meant to be an exploration ship, it's still meant for first contact onto worlds, why not have weapons in case of hostility? As proven in game, the lack of weapons becomes an issue and running away won't always work, especially in an unknown Galaxy.
The character creator: it's not even a character creator...... it's a character preset with the options of minor tweaks but that's it. It's one of the biggest disappointments for me as they hyped it up and it underachieved where I think it needs completely scrapped and rebuilt. It's an issue when I see 50 Ryder's that look damn near identical to mine but with a different hair color or a tattoo. Speaking of which, the tattoos are rather lack luster, while cool, there's only about 6 of them unless you count changing the side of the face it goes on as an option. The hair styles are ok, and you can't even change anything in the default Ryder's which I would've used has I been given the ability to make some slight adjustments.
Animations: they're a meme joke on the internet, pretty much all that needs said. While it doesn't bother me personally, I'm not going to just pretend they're not there. Fortunately I tend to look at the dialogue more so than the faces, but I can say having Ryder smirk at everything is pretty in-immersive, especially when in situations that are pretty serious.
Bugs and glitches: I expected them, but not this many and not the specific ones I encountered. I would've expected the banter bug to not occur due to past experience, I also have issues with saves, falling through geometry m, seeing duplicate characters, dialogue from characters I haven't even recruited (I heard Drack talk in the intro of entering Andromeda) and the list can really go on and on. It's unacceptable that this game launched like this, even worse so that they had acday one patch meaning they full well knew about it but didn't care.
Multiplayer: literally unplayable for me. It's nothing but constant lag or I get disconnected. I don't understand why they went with peer to peer servers again, especially if they're going to use some RNG micro transactions to find their game that could get a dedicated server in place. I had issues with ME3 to an extent and inquisition as well, but I could at least play. Not the case here. I'll also add that Andromeda is just a rehash of ME3s hits mode with new graphics, guns and enemies. Not exactly innovating or going to keep people interested forever, you have to mix it up at some point.
Overall I think the game is decent, nothing great but not the worst thing ever either. It's unfortunate it'll be the first one I've given up on trying to replay it. Being a bioware game and being apart of the mass effect franchise I expected better, especially given it had 5 years of dev time and even got a delay which is unheard of from EA and it was a completely fresh new start. I also am let down with the fact that they went with a human protagonist rather than trying to bring race choices into play. Why couldn't I be an Asari pathfinder? It's been something I've seen wanted mass to do, give us race choices and try to make that choice matter. $

Good leaning on great. Was disappointed with the final boss fight, but the rest of the game was solid to me. Wanted a big Archon face-off, not another Architect + Relics fight. Plus, it kept crashing here on my end, which broke a little bit of the end-game immersion.
The combat was awesome, quick and as Mordin would say "too many variables" for powers. I ended up mixing lots of them 'till I found out that bullet reppel power. Jetpacks, floating and dodging were awesome.
Exploration was great, better than ME1, but I kinda felt annoyed when I needed to complete a mission that went like : I'm on Kadara, get aboard the ship, receive E-mail to return to Kadara. Don't know why they couldn't make you board the Tempest and stay there. And I'd like to say that I wanted a no loading screen option when going off the ship as well. Pick armor, weapons and go to the other ship/go out there to explore the planet without a loading screen, implementing even some little things like driving the Nomad out of the ship yourself. And that galaxy map, no words. Even after the patch I never skipped those travels between planets. Took maaany screenshots and sometimes spent hours traveling to planets and exiting the Galaxy map view just to appreciate it on the cockpit.
The crew was also great, but sometimes Liam's e-mails got tiring. I mean, what's his problem with damn attachments? And sometimes he tries to be too much optimistical, which is not needed or wanted. I liked them moving around the ship and having interactions with each other. Each one of them had their personality and stories to be told. Movie night was fun.
Performance was the major issue for me. Kadara's doors, Nomad freezing out just for a second on Kadara as well and major lag while in the Tempest, specially when going in the bridge. Nomad's shield quest bug and some other minor glitches that did subtract from my experience while playing. Hell, even had 3 crashes on the final mission. And at least on PS4, I can't go into rest mode 'cuz the game just freezes, and I have to load a previous save. But I'm hoping those things get patched eventually.
And we could have some more variety in the enemies early on. Got tired after defeating Kett over and over, but it got better after meeting the exiles on Kadara.
Good game, fun game, I could surely replay it sometime in the future after some needed patches.

There. I finished it. And I was shocked. I am not the best player, and I could finish the last part of the game easily, without even thinking any strategies, on higher difficulties and with a risky hovering and jumping style. I wasn't even close to death. And comparing this experience to the originals, to the first epic battle with Saren with Tali and Wrex, the Suicide mission, or even the No man's land survivality missions... I actually always saved Kaidan because he was such a great sentinel soldier, I really, really needed him in ME3. But this last mission... We could not even fight really against Archon... and then the game was over, in twenty minutes or less. I was so disappointed that I couldn't even thank my squad, because it did not feel like a hard earned victory.
I did enjoy many parts in the game. I found driving the Nomad around very relaxing and fun. I liked most of my squad. I got excited of the notions of Quarian ark coming to Andromeda. Guess they have the wise drells among them.

Finished the game and the best way to summarize my views is probably angry joes review for the game. I will rate the game 6/10 as i found quite a few boneheaded design issues. The dialogue needs a lot of owrk and the characters never act according to the gravity of the situation. Ryder is too hammy for how the situation is presented as. This also applies to the squad in general, dialogues and the situation do not match at all.
The gameplay is terrible, not the combat part, thats good, but the UI, 3x4 skill slot system, no squad equipment etc do add up to and create issues which were a lot reduced in the OT. I really hate the 3 skill slot system, hate it with a passion as it clearly signifies that the game was developed as a MP first and then that system was shoehorned into the SP part of the game.
Hoping for future they get rid of Ryders if they cant fix them and give us our skill slots back and ammo should be mods or powers and not consumables. No one likes consumables which is again annoying as most combat powers are ammo limited as well. Due to the MP they scrapped Adrenaline Rush, we lost ammo powers, we lost defensive powers like fortification, assault rifles are terrible and the best we got is a ammo based powers and 3 skill limit.
The trilogy gameplay was fine, it worked and instead of adding to it MEA instead gutted the gameplay. So overall due to average at best dialogue writing, massive gameplay UI issues the game is at best 6/10 for me.

My short summary For me it felt like a Mass Effect much more akin to ME1 (which loved to pieces). the patch made the "my face it tired" less noticeable. It's a pity the character creator is practically none existent< and i am still not too sure if i like the removal of the paragon/renegade. Apart from those point i mostly liked Andromeda

Wooh. A little late to this thread, but having just completed my 2nd play through I'm already starting my third. I love this game. It's so much damn fun and I've greatly enjoyed the story. So I just finished the game. And I bumped my vote up to great, which may just be the afterglow... Haven't played any good game lately, eh? "Good" is subjective to one's own opinion. Understand that some people have low standards (which I don't perceive as a bad thing - it just means they can enjoy things more easily). I personally rated "Great" as well.

Might as well give us a point system to choose from since all five options are similar to the 5 star system which is backdown of the 10/100 point system. Funny how 29% of people polled think this game is perfect. Their are a lot of delusional biodrones that haven't ever played other better games. Shame. I guess I must be one of those 29% people. It's a shame that some people think that it's a bad thing for other people to enjoy a game that they personally don't.

Righto. I just finished my first playthrough and I must say, I loved it. I ran into some awkward bugs and I suppose there's something to be said for some of the facial animations, so not a perfect score but all in all I'm very positive.
ME3 I really, really hated so I guess I'm comparing the two a lot. Where ME3, to me anyway, was a depressing mess with a BS ending this is feels upbeat and hopeful. It doesn't try to be anything that it's not, just a nice story, good characters and some laughs here and there. If this is a new start for the franchise I'm looking forward to seeing where it'll go.
Money well spent and I'll be picking up DLC. Heck, might even buy some merchandise again.

I think it's a game that is at odds with itself, similar to Dragon Age: Inquisition. For instance, while the Frostbite engine does an excellent job rendering beautiful environments that encourage exploration, the events and quests themselves are, generally-speaking, not that appealing or well-crafted. The game has several issues that I tried to analyze in this post. If you're bored and have some time on your hands, I invite you to read it, if only to see whether you agree or not.

The game suffers from conflicting decisions which leads me to believe they need better project management. Here a few examples:
1: They give us an inventory menu but then proceed to gut it completely that it has no use anymore since you cannot even equip from it.
2: They give us free form combat with freedom to choose our skills but then neuter the entire idea with a 3 skill slot limit.
3: They write some decent side quests but the proceed to ruin them by stupid padding, travel times and ruin their execution by too much of telling and not showing. Example of such a quest is Firefighters, Contagion etc
4: They give us exploration as a motive but gut the concept out.
5: They call you a pathfinder but instead you are made to be a path follower. First contact, sorry wasn't the first contact. First remtech, again not the first and this continues on everywhere.
The game is seeped in conflicting decisions all pointing to fucked up management.

I don't have a in-depth review but I'll say that I enjoyed the game. At first I was kinda worried because I didn't care for the new squad mates at all, plus the facial animations were horrible so it was hard for me to pay attention to the dialog scenes. Releasing that patch made a world of difference for me and I jumped back in after a break from SP. I decided to stick to the main story and only do the Loyalty Missions for Cora, Peebee, Drack & Vetra. I may have did 2 or 3 other side missions without thinking much about it but I wanted to avoid any unnecessary padding, filler, etc. that would drag me down mentally lol. In doing that I believe it helped my experience as well. I also came to like squad mates I didn't care for at first (Cora & Peebee for example). I found myself trying to compare them to OG characters from the trilogy early on but once I got that out of my head and let myself be open to these new personalities I was good! (I still don't care for Liam or Jaal). Other than that, the combat is great, love the freedom with the skill trees, loved seeing my Ryder grow during the game, exploring the planets and just having fun. One of the biggest let downs for me... The main baddie never felt like a huge threat so he didn't do much for me but in the end I was satisfied with the story mode.

I'll type out a more in-depth review a little bit later, but figured I'd give some quick highlights. PROS- Characters are Still Overall Good: Jaal, Drack and Vetra especially. I don't think Cora and Liam are that bad, could be a little more unique. Peebee is my least favorite.
- Gameplay: Smoothest its been forever. It almost feels awkward to look at the animations of the original Mass Effect Trilogy.
- Exploration is Back: ME2 and ME3 were hyper-lacking this feature. ME1's planets were big squares, these have a lot of variety to their design.
- Heleus Cluster Galaxy Map is beautiful: I enjoy the planet descriptions and the black hole in the background.
- Some parts of the main quest are 100% awesome: Hunting the Archon especially.
CONS- Underutilized Environments: The planets are big and beautiful but empty. Perhaps there's an over-reliance on the Nomad for a lot of them. Havarl is a good size to go off of. Voeld is too dang big as is Eos. Elaaden had a very beautiful design but came so late I was burnt out on exploring by the time I reached it.
- Bullet Sponge Enemies: This is literally why they changed combat from ME1 to ME2. Bumping up Kett HP does not make the game more challenging, just frustrating. There are other changes that can be made to improve difficulty without making them spongey.
- Over Abundance of Sidequests: Too many sidequests and too many are "Fetch." Mass Effect is famous for its dialog, give us more quests where we get to use it. Let my Ryder talk down a hostage situation, counsel a family, arbitrate a dispute, etc, etc like we did in ME1 and KOTOR a lot.
- Narrative Breakdown: There's a point in the game post-Moshae Rescue where the galaxy pretty much opens up entirely and its overwhelming. Kadara, Elaaden and H-047c overwhelm the player and makes us paranoid that if we don't do them, we'll run into consequences (looking at you Reaper IFF Mission and Suicide Mission of ME2). I lost track of the main story after running through these three worlds.
- SHOW, DONT TELL: I didn't feel desperate on the Nexus that we were "dying" slowly. I didn't feel like my outposts made a difference or did anything, the colonists just stood around. I didn't feel like I was waking people up in Cryo when I selected pods to open. I didn't see the Nexus grow as I found more arks like the trailers hinted. Come on Bioware, you're in an era where the Witcher 3 is going to be CONSTANTLY held up in your face as competition. You're going to have to raise the bar on what you design.

139 hours - One complete play-through.
First let me explain what it was like to complete mass effect 1/2/3. After completing these games I was left dazed and emotionally drained. I simply could not put my hand to any other game for days afterwards, the impact of these games was that strong.
So how do I feel after completing Andromeda? Relieved really. I am glad it's out of the road so that I can carry on with my game of ME1. Andromeda is a pretty good pew-pew romp about, but a terrible Bioware game. I can pick up games like this anywhere that are better at it and are far cheaper, I don't need, or want another pew-pew romp about, what I desire most is a Bioware story told in the original Bioware way.
After their attempt at open world with both DA and ME I truly believe it's all over, and all we have left are DAO/DA2 and the MET. These 5 games are all we have and nothing like them will ever be developed again.
In years to come if asked what is it that sticks in your mind most about Andromeda? It would have to be those horrible eyeballs, those twitchy eyeballs that always look over the head of those you are talking too. Those eyeball will live with me for the rest of my life.

So, finally finishing it after 90 hours, I'm calling it "good, but could have been great". Too padded with meh side missions, way too buggy on Day One. The best missions were the loyalty ones. Drack and Liam's, especially. The GUI, especially missions and R&D, felt badly designed. Liked the weaponry. Excellent graphics, post-patch. Loved the combat, the jetpack really added a new dimension.
While I applauded getting rid of Paragon and Renegade, I didn't like the lack of choices in how you interacted with people. Too often, it felt like I was given four ways to express one POV. Some of the early writing was pretty bad, but most of it was quite good.
I know I'll get crap for this, so before I say anything else: I'm not a Gamergater, I think they are, on the whole, terrible human beings who want to use an incredibly flimsy pretext in order to publicly be the dirtbags they already were privately. I've never used the phrase "SJW" in a non-ironic sense. My politics are centre-left politically (in Canadian terms. I'd be considered very liberal south of the border). Having said that, the social politics were jammed in there so ham-handedly that I just laughed and shook my head. Everyone being gay/lesbian, the whole Hainly Abrams fiasco (and the shrieking hysterics that accompanied it), it was nuts. If you can't do it well, don't do it. Don't force it in there with a crowbar and sledgehammer. Plenty of sci-fi can and does weave that stuff into their work without coming off as advocates for certain political positions (Expanse, for example). I know the game was made in Montreal, so it was inevitable, but still.
Anyway, by the end, it felt more like a slog. I wanted to love this game, I really did. I adored the OT. By comparison, I'm playing Horizon: Zero Dawn, and 2/3 of the way through the story, I'm still filled with wonder and awe. When I leave work, I press the gas pedal on my car a little harder so I can get back home and play it just a little sooner. Like all games that I love, I don't want it to end. It was the feeling that I hoped I'd have with MEA, and didn't. I finished it, and I'll play the presumably insanely overpriced DLC to learn about the other Ark, but it'll be an obligation, not a pleasure.

My short review based on the PS4 version v1.05 and this is my 2nd playthrough and this time maleRyder insanity difficulty, 100+ hours, 100% Evaluation on all planets, all completed romances ( from reserved save files )
Attraction: good Playability: average Content: good Music / Sound: average Tone : good
On the positive side : - awesome gameplay and skill/power system - balanced weapons and powers - Nomad - various and good looking planets - jetpack - The Remnant units and Vaults, puzzles - Boss fights - Loyalty missions, romance scenes and conversations
Negative: - graphical glitches and bugs, quest breaking bugs, sound bugs and glitches, weird sounds or no sound, frame rate dips etc. - too many boring side quests - shallow main story compared to ME1, ME2

There is a reason we are using a grading system from 1- to 10. 1-3 being bad/fail, 4-5 being pass/average and 6 being good with 7 and beyond reaching for great. In most universities 40% is the pass or 4 in the case while 70 and beyond is considered for honours. So again your numbers are wrong unless you fall into the retarded reviewers scale of only using numbers from 6 to 10. MEA is at best a 6/10 game, one can slightly stretch it to 7 but 6 is the most fair number for the game.
