To my knowledge no one at Bioware has said they are planning such a thing, but I am sure there are people there who want to do it.
The really cinematic cutscenes that have mood animations are so, so, so much more enjoyable. I am playing the story campaign, but I am trying to do more multiplayer instead while we wait.
On the other hand, it seems like they have gone too long without addressing this. Like, if they had good news, they would have already shared it and calmed the criticism
It feels a lot like the backlash over the ME3 ending before they said they would update it, but I don't know how long that announcement took.

I really don't think the facial animations that people are complaining about will be easy or quick to fix, unless they just go back and manually change a couple of the worst offenders. I would expect it to be months even before a major change to the system will happen.

Nah. Although the animations aren't the best they don't really bother me. Besides, it probably takes a long time (if it even happens at all) before facial animations get properly patched. I simply don't think there's any real point in explicitly waiting for that chance if you really want to continue with the singleplayer story. If you have other games to play and aren't really invested in this story I can understand, but that probably means that there are more things you don't like about the game other than facial animations.

My gripes with the game cannot be fixed with a patch. The animations whilst questions in places, and downright terrible in others, are good enough overall and on par with previous Bioware escapades, my issues are with pacing and general game design (I like my mass effect more linear and story focused rather than exploration focused).
Still thoroughly enjoyed myself by the end of it though so any actual improvements they make are a welcome bonus.

I was more focused on the main story and quests, so after a while they became less of a big deal to me, though that is not to say Bioware doesn't needs to improve them in the future. I don't think facial animations can be patched, but hopefully dlc would give the devs the opportunity to show off better animations.

If an animation patch ever happens then it won't be any time soon. We'll see what their plans are on the 4th.

The facial animation issue is the most overblown ball of nothing ever.
Other than a few outliers we've all seen hundreds of times, 99% of the people complaining would have never have noticed an issue with them.
But modern gamers aren't "happy" unless they are miserable and complaining.

Nope. While I would definitely welcome a facial animation patch that improved a lot of the "dead eyes" and things like that, I highly doubt it will ever happen. So I'm just enjoying the game as much as I can right now. If they do patch the facial animations, then I will be pleasantly shocked.

But modern gamers aren't "happy" unless they are miserable and complaining. I'm going to 100% disagree with you. It's not overblown. Here's why: Mass Effect, for me, has always been about the personal stories you create with your own character and the characters around you. There's something horrendously distracting about trying to share a personal, emotional, powerful moment with your character, only to have their eyebrows do something really strange, or their eyes roll to the ceiling or the floor. It might not be an issue for you, and that's fine. It's an issue for me, and many others though, quite justifiably. But to call it overblown? That's nonsense. Few "outliers" would be acceptable. This isn't outliers. This is every time female Ryder opens her mouth, or you get into a close conversation with Cora or Liam.

I have not heard of facial animations being patched before, so I am not going to hold my breath. It doesn't even bother me either since I am mostly looking at the subtitles anyways. I do like the voice acting, which makes it pleasant to listen along while I read.

Also - stop expecting a facial animation patch. It's not coming.
They might be able to patch glitchy animations, but they won't be re-doing entire animations through a patch.
So no point in slowing down.

I would expect it to be months even before a major change to the system will happen. Typically how it works is they set what certain moods look like, then designate lines to use those moods and to what degree. They aren't manually keying eyebrows and corners of mouths on a case-by-case basis. It would be work, but it would be very doable. It wouldn't be cutscene quality, but it would be a big help.

I would like a kinder checkpoint system.
Roughly 50 hours in and the facial animations haven't in any way spoilt my enjoyment of the game, I've only actually noticed an "off" expression a handful of times - lasting an amusing split second, but definitely not a huge issue for me.
I just really REALLY hope they aren't going to start stripping things out of the game based on a very loud minority complaining about side quests and inventory.

You do know the first thing everyone thought of when Bioware released that tweet, was facial anims, right? Loudmouths do not a majority make. The PC gamer half of this meme is so true. And I have no doubt that the vast majority of complainers are PC gamers. And before you even say it...I play on PC. But do feel free to think a few whiners are representative of anything. I'm sorry it bruises your little ego that people have caught onto you enough to know that no matter what you guys would have found some complaint to latch onto and bitch about. I've been a gamer longer than most of you have known what a PC is and I've seen "gamers" evolve into a narcissistic lot who try endlessly to show how cool they are by saying how much EVERYTHING sucks...games...movies...tv shows....absolutely everything sucks. I mean it has to if it doesn't measure up to your standards, right? I'll also tell you right now, you better grab a tampax for announcement day, they aren't going to redo the animations. At best you might get a few tweaks in the worst cases.

At best you might get a few tweaks in the worst cases. Wow, kind of lost your shit, haven't you? I don't really care how long you've been a gamer. I work in the industry - don't see me championing that, because it's just as irrelevant. If you want to believe that it's somehow the minority, that's cool. If I was a fanboy like you who had a hard time accepting valid criticism of my favorite game, I'd be a bit nutty like you too. But that valid criticism is everywhere - whether it's here, on reddit, twitter, facebook, or on metacritic, or YouTube, etc. It's widespread and constant. So there's definitely something to it. Go look at the replies of the tweet too. And also, try reading up bud - I'm pretty sure you know where you can stick that tampon, seeing as I've said here multiple times that there's no way they are going to patch an entire facial fix. EDIT - Good thing my primary platform isn't a PC.

I am going slow and started the MP, but animations never bothered me. I think the problems are mostly with male faces and if you move mouth too much when creating the face.
Oh, I am a PC gamer, but I guess I have a console personality? I only really ranted about three games in my life.
