Sometimes, I leave my teammates and just charge every thing I see. I don't know, is there some etiquette when it comes to MP that you don't charge all the time? Sometimes I also still kills, is that okay? I kinda feel like I'm cheating as charge replenishes shields but I don't know. Any tips for further levelling up the Vanguard? I noticed a Krogan Vanguard though instead of shockwave he has fortify -- is that better?

Since you decided to join the Vanguard scrubtastico's, then charge away. Properly specced it replenishes barriers, so pray you can just chain those charges.
Charge always restored Barriers, so fuck cheating, you need it since you're constantly jamming yourself down the enemies' throat.
As for Vanguarding, I can help you little (I'm of the opinion that you can't kill what you can't see - go figure) but the difference in Krogan Vanguard and Hoomanz is that Krogan are lore-wise very tanky, so Fortify is there for that. You should be even less vulnerable if it works as I remember, and since you don't use Shockwave, you don't need to worry.
Though Shockwave, if I remember right, can detonate what your charge primed. Then again, can't confirm, I don't give a flying fuck about Vanguards.

If so, you are doing OK The only thing that I can recommend you is to always help with the objectives: nothing makes people more upset than dying trying to complete a objective while someone else is on the other side of the map simply killing mooks to get a higher score. BTW, it is a shame you haven't played ME3: Vanguards where there as well

Basic rule of thumb when it comes to this MP to just help revive teammates, help objectives and of course kill everything in sight. Kill-stealing isn't a real thing in a co-op, only kill-helping Everyone gets the same XP and credits at the end of each game so it doesn't matter who gets the highest score. The only thing that matters is to have fun. Regarding the vanguard, I haven't played them myself in this game yet but if you need to charge to regain shields, then by all means do so. If it means leaving a hack for a few seconds it's fine honestly as long as you run back to continue helping with the objective. Just be careful what you charge at or when you charge. Vanguards are high risk characters and sometimes dying a lot can be frowned upon. Nothing is more embarrassing than charging into a boss enemy that sync-kills you on impact instead.

The below is my opinion, and people will probably disagree. But that's how I play a Van.
Vanguards are high risk, high reward, and normally expected to get high damage scores because you are an essential melee DPS. It gets harder as you progress in difficulty because things actually survive to hit you back while your shield is weakened from charge. I have not tried it in ME:A yet, but in ME3, I tried to shorten the CD on charge as much as possible because that replenishes your shield.
I would also avoid overusing Nova (it will bite you on higher difficulties if you are doing it on muscle memory not because you landed in a group of 2+ mooks you need to shock) and skip the Shockwave if melee/shotgun do well in Andromeda. The idea always was to charge, roll back, one-shot what was left of it, or charge, melee, roll back, charge again, etc. It is a very fun class to play but you are very prone to be sync-killed by anything that can do it, so you need to know the signs of when a boss is ready to kill.
You also need to be very aware of where you are on the map in respect to your team, particularly during the objective waves. It is very easy to over-extend. Try to protect the person who is doing the objective engaging anything that shoots him/her, and try to charge and roll back to the hack objective. Use your charge to quickly make your way to the things you need to disarm, leaving the dazed enemies in your wake, don't stop to finish them off. The quicker the sensors are disable,d the faster the wave is done.
Look for mooks the teammates set on fire or primed with biotics to charge if you have time.
Look for high perches to hunt from.
have fun :)

So...rather proud of myself. I tried out SILVER for the first time. WITH THREE OTHER VANGUARDS + ONE ENGINEER. And...well we made it to wave 6. And it wasn't because we died, mind you. We ran out of time to assassinate targets

I've been playing for 6 hours straight I rarely need to use guns (except when defending hacking, devices). I'm glad you found your calling. It's worth mentioning that Vanguards were also satisfying to play back in ME3, but the way the game was balanced was different. Unfortunately in ME3, although charge + melee build was fun, there were safer builds that yielded higher DPS. Luckily in MEA:MP, melee vanguards are not only viable, but I get the sense that they might even be top tier. Punch away my friend.

gut reaction will be to equip a shotgun on a vanguard but in the moments between cooldowns you'll be screwed when ever anything is just a bit too far for a shotguns range, not to mention those damn observers and times when you need to stay in the hack zone, I've found a AR rounds out the vanguard better making your contribution to the team better. reviving someone is a situational call, you should but not at the expense of you going down just to get them up or having to spam first aids while you do it. silver is a very different and unforgiving animal than bronze, you won't be able to charge head long in to groups, well you can but you'll go down far more often, using up equipment that you might otherwise need for close calls, again a good AR is your friend allowing you to contribute without jumping in head first quite so much. on general etiquette, my opinion is an unpopular one, the level recommendations are there for a reason, I don't go in to silver until my character is at least lvl 10 and I have no intention of going into gold until I have decent rank 10 weapons and a stack of decent boosters, every single failed mission I've had on silver has been with a group with under level 10s on it, everyone thinks they're just that good. supply packs are only 2000 credits, there's no excuse for running a silver and not having revives, first aids and rockets, also use rockets they are there to be used, no need to horde them.

Hold on just one minute. A team of 5 - what sort of thing is this Also, welcome to the game, help with objectives and revive and have fun. I've been playing melee asari which reminds me a lot of a character i used to play in me3. Sooo much boom when playing with a vanguard. Look out for other biotics on the team and detonate their primed enemies.

First off -- thank you everyone! I love that the MP community is very friendly. I would've thought the SP/Character-community would be friendlier as you play by yourself, but look at what happens in MP, seems everyone's nicer. And I just extracted on Silver. Guess I'm not that bad in this game after all. Unfortunately, I was the only one who extracted I died near the end, then someone revived me. And it was just the two of us running, unfortunately he died and I couldn't turn around to save him as extraction was in five seconds Absolutely, Silver is a different beast than Bronze. I thought I had the hang of Bronze, just charge, melee, nova. Can't do that simply in Silver. I ACTUALLY NEEDED TO USE MY ASSAULT RIFLE! We were facing Outlaws which I think is the easiest. No flying remnants that can't be meleed and no f***** ascendant. My female vanguard only has a "II" beside her, while my female soldier has a "iv" -- and I never play with my soldier! How do I get my vanguard to a higher level! Also I've been buying advance packs for 20 grand but I figured, for early game best to keep buying basic -- is that true? CAN'T BELIEVE I'VE BEEN PLAYING FOR LIKE 8 hours now )))

That's also how you'll rank up your vanguard, since it's a common card, so she'll drop lots in the basic pack.

No it's not really ok to ditch your team, but a smart player will just leave you to die, and you'll either get better at muli-enemy management and not need a team or you'll figure out that it's a co-op game.

Singleplayer forums are full of people whom Bioware has coddled into believing that they are the Chosen Ones of the Galaxy. Why would you believe they were friendly?

Thank you Serza! Just wondering -- are Vanguards very popular here in BSN MP forums? They didn't work well off host in ME3 but I stated playing one a few days ago and that seems to be fixed, In ME3 they were seen as a crutch character to get the BOTB banner. the Krogan was almost impossible to kill with a little skill. As for MEA, don't see many on the field but that will change when newer players discover what these kits can do to wrek armor and armor is pretty tough ATM with the weapons we have

One piece of advice I'd give you is buy the Jugernaught Shield equipment from the Item Store it gives you 10% more shields and 75% more melee dmg, a must have for a vanguard

Melee is better than guns or powers in MEAMP so far. Just use biotic charge mostly defensively rather than offensively. Step 1: run up to an enemy/enemies and Nova (get the priming evo) Step 2: Charge Step 3: Punch things until a) theyre dead Novas back from CD c) your health/shields drop enough to seek cover while charge comes back from CD. Step 4: That's it. That's the vanguard.

I am legitimately happy that you are enjoying the Vanguard OP. It is not my cup of tea since I prefer Infiltrator/Sniper/DMR style of play, but at least you are getting enjoyment out of it.

All I can say as a fellow noob is if you're going to shoot a missile at an Ascendant, get rid of its orb first plz. Otherwise you just wasted a missile cause...all you're gonna kill is the orb. And probably not even that.
...may or may not have made this mistake and gotten everyone killed once.

Charge is one of the best abilities in the game when it works right. Instantly puts you within melee range and where you can put out max damage. If you're not charging you're not doing it right. Charge everything within reason, but try to steer clear of instakill enemies fiends, ascendants, etc. Priortize annoying enemies like anarcists, saboteurs, observers, cloaking kett assholes, etc. Charging into the middle of the map with multiple fire lanes generally results in death.
