In previous entries in the series, Shockwave was underwhelming because its range was so short. Do people like it in MEA? How do you think it compares to Lance or Annhilation? What is your favorite power for biotic damage?

It's okay.. in singleplayer I have a profile that is Lance/Shockwave/Singularity to spam detonations on bosses. I prefer Lance over it if I had to choose between the two skills. Annihilation is really powerful if you build around it and is arguably the best biotic power in the game. Multiplayer I play the Human Adept mostly and the Shockwave/Singularity/Pull kit doesn't do too bad. I play supportive and just prime mostly. I dunno Shockwave is fine but like almost all biotics, it seems a little under-tuned in raw power.

Not really. No biotic power is good on its own. Especially not towards architects where Biotics are "lol, you used what on me?"

What is your favorite power for biotic damage? Shockwave are good here since there's so many you can mix it up with. Honestly all skills are good here if you can come up with the combo you like, Generally, on my Adept, I do Charge + Annihilation + Shockwave or Charge + Nova + Shockwave Combo goes like this : Annihilation always activated > Charge to group of enemies > Enemies primed by annihilation > Shockwave from close range > multiple detonation from biotic echoes from adept profile & re-primed from shockwave > takes down floating left overs with another Charge > another multiple detonation from Charge + biotic echoes.

is not as good as in me2 and 3, that's for sure
i think it's slower, and no broad enough to detonate biotic explosions easily, it's ok if you are very close to the enemy

I find its "okay" just like the prior games. I have had problems with lance not hitting my target for they were moving.

Not really. No biotic power is good on its own. Especially not towards architects where Biotics are "lol, you used what on me?" Not true, Annihilation, Charge and Backlash are all very strong stand alone biotic powers. To the OP - Shockwave is a weak power not worth investing into.

I think it's a good power I loved it in ME2 scattering all the husks and stuff. I felt it was a bit weak in ME3 but then I felt in ME3 Biotics in general are a bit weaker and not quite as effective in generawl. But in MEA it definitely feels like it's got it's punch back. I've got it equipped with Tactical cloak and pull as my main set of powers for my biotic infiltrator and she's sending the Kett flying with them.

I love Charge --> Nova --> Shockwave into a Biotic combo when all abilities are leveled up. I did that all the time to the fiends and other large enemies. Lots of Piranha shotgun blasts to top it off, too. You can even unlock a later ability with Shockwave that briefly suspends enemies in the air which makes for a nice follow up with Charge. Vanguard has never been better in a Mass Effect game.

At the moment Im using annihilation, charge and nova. Activate annihilation, charge in, do a nova and mop up with an asari sword.

It's okay to push weak enemies out of cover and it detonates through walls. But it's not really a skill to take for its damage.

Well, it was best in ME2, but I like it better here. Decent damage, hits through cover, staggers enemies(situational at best, but eh, I'll take it), AND with a certain rank 6 evolution it can detonate AND prime combo's even on shielded and armored opponents.
What's not to like?

It is situationally useful and has it's tactical advantages at times.
But I don't use it on any of my profiles, because there are almost always better skill combinations to be made, it that is an obvious enough answer.

Not really. No biotic power is good on its own. Especially not towards architects where Biotics are "lol, you used what on me?" Yeah, even my most focused "Biotic PTs" see me switch to a weapons specialist Favorite while fighting Architects. I want it to take 5 minutes, not 15. This thread is of interest to me, as a player who has never liked Shockwave. It's always the last power I evolve, throwing the leftover skill points its way. It seems that nothing has changed, in terms of the skill being totally outclassed by others.

Apparently it has a hidden -50% damage to detonations, or at least it did at the start of multiplayer. It was still OK in multiplayer on the human adept, never really used it in single player but I presume it inherits the same hidden disadvantage.

If you are playing on normal difficulty, don't even worry about what's good or what isn't. You don't even need powers to get through the game, just a sufficiently leveled Predator pistol.
With the range and radius evolutions, Shockwave can be fun. It's an alternative to Pull or Throw for bioticizing enemies behind cover. I'd still probably only use it on a vanguard build.

Snap Freeze + Shockwave or Flamethrower + Shockwave = multiple enemies down at the same time.

In ME2 shockwave was a useful one-pointer on husk-rich levels like derelict reaper alongside aoe anti-armor powers like inferno grenade. ME3 I don't remember it really having any use.
In MEA single player I don't know why you'd take shockwave over throw or lance given the <1 combo damage multiplier, lack of combo upgrades, and limited range. Its ability to prime doesn't come close to offsetting those problems.
