Anyone else hate Addison ?

And she's a top suspect as the Jien Garson killer

I like how they made the guy who destroyed the Initiative with his misrule, i.e. Tann, the guy who supports you.

Then usually they would make the other leader into someone competent and noble.

No, she sucks at her job too and hates you.

There's no way she was written to be likeable.  She screws up a lot in the game, lol.  I wish we got a chance to exile her or arrest her after the Spender(?) quest.

That wasn't the only quest that exposed her corruption

I note that Tann is ambitious but not to the point that he isn't aware he's out of his depth. He'd like to go down in history as the Initiative's founder since Jien Garson is dead but I get the impression he'd be okay being an accountant again with you taking over.

Addison thinks you're unfit for the job and she should be in charge as Director.

Which she is MANIFESTLY unqualified for.

What has she done for humanity's best interests? Covering up corruption, not supporting the human pathfinder, and complaining about everyone else does not help our species. Pretty much the opposite.

'Corrupt' isn't the right word, since she doesn't do it for personal advancement, but there are two main things she's involved with: her subordinate Slender (spelling?), the arse who betrayed the Krogan, and giving weapons to exiles who went raider.


Slender is the asshole beuracrat who promised the Krogan a role in the political leadership of the Nexus if they took care of the Exiles, then lied about having ever made it. He spends his time undermining Kesh, the Krogan maintenance chief, to the detriment of everyone as he tries to get her removed.

Addison wasn't involved in offering the fake deal, but she did refuse to remove him when people complained about him and his incompetence. Her reasoning when you can first approach her about it- very early on- is that she's so understaffed that even if he's incompetent/abrasive, he actually helps her manage things. She says upfront that she'd drop him if there was proof of corruption, but not for the allegations, and she doesn't have the resources/energy to spare to look into it in depth.


The other incident- the Three Stars raider group, IIRC?- was when the Nexus gave weapons to an Exile group at Kadara to provide some security, but who went raider instead. This was right at the start, before the Pathfinder was effectively improving security, and stopped once they realized they'd been betrayed. The corruption here is less the 'crime' of giving weapons to Exiles (ie, people already declared untrustworthy and kicked out of the Nexus), and more about the cover-up. Addison doesn't want the incident publicized, mainly because it's an embarassing government screwup that demonstrated a lack of trust in the Pathfinder/plays to the stereotypes of Exiles as inherently untrustworthy/calls into question their judgement despite it being a more desperate time.

She's on a crusade to single-handedly ruin everything with her ineptitude.
She's so hateful and loathsome. Why did she apply for the job in the first place?
She surrounds herself with borwn-nose just to make her feel better about her failures.

Nope, I don't I just work around her and ignore her.

Speaking of most hated characters in a ME Game. I don't know why, and she only played a bit part, but the blonde security woman you meet just as you arrive on Noveria really ticked me off. It was a GREAT joy when I was able to off the pompous bitch, only saddened by how quickly she died and the fact I couldn't rub it in as she took her last breath.

I get the feeling We were supposed to hate Director Tann but I despise Addison so much more.
Comparing her to Tann makes me like Tann a lot more than what was intended.

And I'm not even that far into the game, she irritates me that much.

Her frozen face and facial animations.
Her crappy makeup (I am still confused as to why they changed her look from the old version, She looks much worse).
How she smiles and is grateful for all of 5 seconds when Prodromos is started before she goes back to being a bitch.

Oh and such gems like "My face is tired", "To WHOM" "You're not a Pathfinder until you've Pathfound something."
"Ugh, goddamn poetry" and my favorite:

"I'm not your new mom if that's what you're asking!"

Tann annoys me, but he's got one excuse over Addison that makes me sympathize with him more: Tann was never meant to lead the Nexus. He is an accountant. He's basically doing a job he was not trained for, and there's really no one else to help him, otherwise they'd be in charge.

Addison, by contrast, always seems to have been the Director for Colonial Affairs. And she's not really competent at that job. Spender is a problem, but she seems more than willing to cover up his failures.

About the only character I dislike more is Morda. For all Addison's flaws, I think there was an intention for her to be disliked (Or maybe, the writers knew how unlikable she could be and rolled with it.) Morda is presented as a somehow good girl, yet she's equally as ungrateful as Addison. As incompetent as Spender was, I was all for kicking the krogan off the station if they were like her.
