Am I the only one who really hated this quest?
I guess it was supposed to move me, but it fell flat because of how callous and selfish Kennedy came off as.
Seriously, stealing supplies from outposts, when she knows the shitty situation the settlers are currently in? Making babies when there's a major shortage of food and resources at the moment? She really couldn't wait a few more months before starting to breed? And she didn't even feel any remorse for it.
I'm disappointed that we weren't given the option to punish her, or at least admonish her. I didn't even want to help her.

Conveniently, I just finished writing a rant about this and I was deciding where to put it. Sorry if it's... ranty.
I'm fairly furious about how that mission played out. People on the Nexus are on the verge of starvation, several outposts have failed, and they can't afford to wake up more of the very helpful people still in cryo... but hey, Dr Kennedy has baby fever so she's gonna steal a bunch of supplies and make it happen anyway.
Ok sure. She's not the first person to make a decision devoid of reason, but there's no option to punish her? My options are to give her exactly what she wants or almost exactly what she wants and I'm forced to sweep the thefts under the rug. People were exiled for this stuff! Why am I supposed to care more because she has a baby? Give her the option to give her baby up for adoption on the Nexus and let me kick her out! Or something! It chafes to let her have a happily ever after. Ugh. Needless to say, I will not be completing that mission again in the future.
(As a side note, this entire game had a touch of baby fever. It makes sense in the context of end goals and all, but I wish I'd had more of a chance to remove myself from it personally. I kinda view it like religion, auto-dialogue should never just assume I'm interested.)

The fact that she got completely off the hook JUST because she had a kid is ridiculous. The lack of options and ability to express yourself in this quest is quite baffling. I agree on the baby fever issue too. I get that they need to repopulate the colonies and all, but I found this quest and Gil's conversations about it a bit too much in your face. It's kind of weird, actually.

Kennedy decides it's the end of the world and it's time to have a baby? Ok, happens, hormones and constant danger do wonders to human's psyche. Screw Nexus? Common enough hobby in Heleus. Make use of Addison's incompetence? Weird not to. I get all of it, but why everyone suddenly goes "aww, first baby in Andromeda" and not a single "This woman!"? I understand they wanted to make something inspiring from the whole thing, new life and all that, but somehow it felt sloppy instead.

Hated this quest so damn much. Really wanted my Ryder to call Kennedy out on being a selfish bitch... but nope. And then asking Kennedy if she's ok only to hear baby cries as a response, was that supposed to make my heart melt and forgive all? Well, it didn't work

Yup. BW dropped the ball on this one. I'd have liked to forcibly removed their newborn baby as punishment. Dr. Dumbass is obviously an incompetent parent, and would have endangered her child's life. Alternatively, I'd be fine with the first human baby in Andromeda being a dead one. 😘

People are selfish assholes and often hide behind their or other's children to justify their actions.
In this instance I give Andromeda an A+ on the realism.

It would have been an A+ of a mission if I could exile her at the end. I would have put up with through jumping through all those hoops just to see her and Addison's horrified faces. You don't want to play by the rules? Fine. Go to Kadara Port. See how long the "but I have a baby" bullshit flies there. So glad it's not just me who loathes that quest.

I wouldn't say I loathed it, my feelings were tepid at best. But I couldn't help thinking what if Admiral Adama had been running the show...pretty different outcome there.

But I couldn't help thinking what if Admiral Adama had been running the show...pretty different outcome there. Would have traded everyone on the Nexus for Adama. What really puzzles me about this quest is how it seemed to go out of its way to be...well...bad. Kennedy would have been a much more sympathetic character (to me at least) if her pregnancy was purely accidental. Contraceptives didn't work after getting her out of cryo, she panics, and flees the station. I still wouldn't have LIKED her, but I would have understood. Hormones seriously mess with your head, and pregnancy is a massive spike in endogenous hormones. As it is, Addison's dialogue implies that Kennedy's departure was premeditated. That immediately kills any sympathy I might have had for her.

Quests like this are part and parcel for Bioware these days. It's all about the feels and feeling noble, logic and reality be damned. It's pretty much the same as "First Murder", another horribly written side quest that throws logic out the window.

Apparently the legal code in Andromeda is "murder" or "nothing." Because there's no way attempted murder is a crime. What a silly notion

Nothing weird about that all. Non-killable children made Skyrim better! Bowling for kids with the Thu'um! In all seriousness, I do like the idea of having children (and babies) incorporated into RPG storylines. I think it has potential for a lot of urgency and drama. But this quest was a great example of how NOT to do that.

People can act selfish and strange so i was fine with the quest, but yea they could give us the option to react negatively (unless i missed it). even with PeeBee when she nearly kills us we can at least casually say "no more pods for you lady" which isn't enough but still "better than nothing". sadly there wasn't enough attention to details in general.
