I don't remember there being any flak directed at the last two Witcher games either.

Times have changed. Part of it may just be that a lot of gamers are now middle aged people themselves. A lot of the past controversies over R-rated content in video games was by moral crusading old fogies who associate games as kids toys, whereas just like movies, you now have different games directed at different age groups.

Its also silly that violence is never talked about despite the fact that we've killed billions of polygons throughout our years. When it comes to nudity however everybody freaks out.

Well, 10 years ago the left - or rather the liberal media - was not yet in charge of the public discord, so the outrage train was in another station. Today sexism (among other things), rather then sex, is a apparently a problem in games... and the outrage is about as valid as it was back then.

Besides: ME1's scene was a hell of a lot more tasteful then what we got in MEA... if anything, the Cora scene is funny in how it tries to be "mature content" without actually showing much. With the level of laziness the game was made with, I was half expecting for them to swap out Cora's model for Vetra's.

Movies are passive experiences while games are interactive.

Dumb parents (who can't be bothered to learn that rated M is the same as movies being rated R) think if their kid is not only seeing acts of perversion but committing them via games that are clearly meant for children then the game is trying to brainwash the child to become a sicko or worse force mom and pop to have now explain sex to them.

I think some of the most controversial things in their games were the moral dilemmas and complex characters rather than the bare-assed shenanigans. I wish they would focus more on the former again, rather than wasting so much time on the latter (the watering down of really tough decisions from DAO to DAI is an example of this).

But aside from that, it is weird that media/community ever got so up-in-arms about pixelated "shoot-the-baddies" and "let's bang, OK?" in the games that have much darker issues (choose to save these folks over these folks, decide to extinguish a whole race or let them live with the chance that they may come back and do you harm, destroy a whole planet to stop the big bad guys from coming here, etc). That's what really makes the games "adult", imo. The other stuff just seems like an afterthought to me.

I don't believe this. They make a f*****g public apology for upsetting the transgender community but say f**k all when it comes to the terrible state the game was released in.

Bioware needs to rethink it's role in life.  Is it a game studio, or a radical movement, don't mix the f*****g two together.
