Haha.. I never get them. How does one earn them? Not comparing games, but I assume it must not be like getting a CoD assist, because I constantly help people bring down enemies, but I never seem to get any assist medals. Are some kits better for this, than others? I'm currently playing female, human soldier.
I ask because, currently, I would rather get 25 assist medals than use points to recruit 6 strike teams, for the "teamwork" achievement. [Saving my points for the store, in case some bad bitch gun pops up lol]
I'll probably eventually have 6 strike teams, but since I do plan on playing quite a bit of MP anyway, I'd like to know how to acquire assists.
I googled, searching for an explanation, with no avail. So I defer to you good people for the answer.

Ah! that Galadriel sig. Nice. Read the series 6 times now since middle school xD *ahem* Assist medals seem to be exclusively as a result of combos as far as I know. Even if one solos, one receives "assist" medals from self detonating combos (regardless of tech, bio, combat)
Considering how utterly useless ability combos are at the moment, my advice: IGNORE ASSISTS POINTS. It has nothing to do with your contribution toward your team, friend.
Just keep contributing as you are with that 'team player' mindset, and you'll find yourself at the extraction zone more often than most.

I was doing an attempted Bronze Solo and I got "Assist" scores. Not sure what these mean. Not sure who I was "assisting." That's the extent of my knowledge on that. lol thanks for the input! Yea, I dunno, honestly. I have never gotten one. The other day, there was a guy in my team that said "so many assists, I just keep getting fucking assists". HaHa- I would like to know how to acquire these mysterious buggers.

Just go with the human adept. Set up biotic combos with singularity/pull and shockwave. You'll get the assist medals very fast. It's actually a way to get some more points. You'll not get only the points for the kill, you'll get additional points for the assist.

Gotta love LOTR lol You must have misunderstood my post, though. I want to know how to get them, so I can pop an achievement. HaHa. I'm all about teamwork, of course, but I need to know how to get assists for a reason other than contribution

I use Human Adept and never miss out on an assist medal. I thought it had something to do with other people killing the enemy u damaged to certain degree.
Anyway... about strike teams. If you use app.. you don`t need more than 4. I actually think even 4 is one too many. lol

Detonating the primer, for example, with my concussive shot, won't net me any assists?

I started the human adept, and am getting assist scores left and right. I do think there is a bug somewhere though. For instance, if I pulled something and someone else killed it I got an assist. If I pulled it and I killed it, I got an assist AND a kill. I assisted myself clearly. It appears to trigger if you have an active effect on something that then gets killed by a different method.

Inflict disabling effects like Lift or freeze on enemies being fought by your allies. Even cryo ammo gets you 2 assist points per enemy.

I'd be kicking myself in the ass if I used all my points on strike teams and there was something I wanted and had no points left lol.

I noticed that Asari Adept whit her AA is the king of the assist ... and kills medals at the same time. The Salarian Operator is also quite good at farming assist - i presume is due to the shield boost ability and the invasion AI.
Priming targets in general seem to count as assist.

If you detonate a combo and kill the enemy, you'll get an assist even if you are by yourself.

With human adepts, engineers, sentinels, gold assist medals are pretty typical. One of my favorites, is getting a combo that gives me both a kill and an assist and in the kill feed, I see Grinch + Grinch [cryo /fire / biotic / tech] combo. So how you get an assist medal solo is pretty straight forward. Doing combo detonations your self or in conjunction with others is how you get it done with your FL team or with a pug. It's nice to find someone to tag team with ... I hit something with a primer ... like cryo ... they detonate ... then prime the next mook, while I detonate with energy drain. Assists for everyone.
With a vanguard, I see far fewer assists, unless I've got someone priming a target and I charge ... or I remember to toss in shockwave. I guess nova got buffed, mostly I've left it at level 1, but may have to rethink that. Soldier and infiltrator don't get that many assists for me ... though grenades will maybe give me a bronze medal for the soldier. I just don't toss out incinerate enough with my sniper to get many assists.
