Yeah and it's supposed to be "extremely funny" and it really isn't. When Ryder acts with Kallo that's... yeeesh. Don't do comedy if you can't write comedy.
I'd rather watch an episode of Hannah Montana than this and that's just to emphasize how much I thought it sucked.

It's no worse than shepherd dancing. Actually shepherd dancing is worse.

I don't know about extremely funny...maybe more "cute & silly" Personally I think they can handle comedy well, but it might just not be some people's cup o' tea. One of my favorite lines is a little more subdued than most of the casual funny lines. Ryder upon investigating the Kett facility for exaltation just matter of fact like blurts out "This is like some weird cult shit" To me, that's better than everyone being quippy or fast with the zingers back and forth...he just is out of his depth, doesn't understand quite what is going on, and states what is going on in the least Shepard-like/professional manner possible.

Yeah, I've also done goofy shit like this with friends but it feels like a bunch of 17-year-olds and not mid-twenties who are doing important things. I like that the crew can feel like family but I think BioWare should tie up the knot a little bit next time. They've sunken too far into the deep end with this type of casual Citadel DLC stuff IMO where everything is just meandering.
I did like that this side quest builds up over the course of the game and goes through most crew members to help establish it though. I just think the scene is super forced and feels like some bad bonus material. It's a real "kill your babies" situation (context: turn of phrase that refers to when artists have to cut out stuff they really like for a better overall impression)
Regarding whether it's comical or not, I just think this was too slapstick-like. It's childish. The comparison is a stark contrast to this
Wanna make it funny and endearing? Make it at least look like it's a bunch of adults having fun.

This type of stuff happened daily in Afghanistan. Even during war people jack around and laugh. It's a very realistic scene from my experiences in the military.

You may feel it's juvenile, but grown ass men do juvenile stuff all the time, especially those who are in a war and have free time on their hands. I remember going around and catching camel spiders and putting them on the first guy who fell asleep to to watch them freak out.

I can see how that is funny and I can imagine I'd think that was funny and endearing if it happened in a story too.
But when it's a bunch of space-heroes that watch a movie together and then they unabashedly try to act together, and just the entire framing and way it's delivered, it just made me feel embarrassed instead. The punchline isn't something specific they do it's just "haha, it's funny they're acting together!". The moment when Ryder tries to act out with Kallo however is just cringeworthy and not because his acting is too hammy but because the whole thing just reeks of nerd-culture.

You may feel it's juvenile, but grown ass men do juvenile stuff all the time, especially those who are in a war and have free time on their hands. I remember going around and catching camel spiders and putting them on the first guy who fell asleep to to watch them freak out. And my uncle was the same, he hated the idea that all those bullets he sprayed into the trees landing troops in on choppers might have killed someone. He'd pull pranks and make himself laugh and bring everyone else with him because it helped him feel like he was still here. As a form of coping I have no problem with it. But the vast majority of us have no compulsion to do that. More so because the character isn't even us to begin with. It seems like something you'd do a 14 year old girls slumber party in that context. Not to knock your sevice for whatever country you served. But we aren't in a position where something like this serves any purpose in a game, other than to sit there looking derpy grinning at something stupid, simply because its stupid. Its a normal reaction for some to say that was too over the top and from where i sat a waste of time and energy. I thought it made sense to do it earlier on grab the vid everyone bonds now we're all friends. Turns out it was supposed to be a "friendship crescendo" of sorts. By the time it was ready to go it was pointless. We were ready to fight Archon. So far as Mass Effect goes it felt like a really crappy throw back to the citadel party. Only without one liners, lols and a sense of comradery. I really felt like the crew didnt even know each other well enough or even got along well enough to pull it off anyway. And why the hell do they get to crash the PF personal quarters?

I would prefer, "Yah, some drunk rednecks didn't do this." -- Blair Witch Project. And that wasn't that great of a movie. But 'dat line tho'.

I thought it was amusing, and didn't find it "cringy". Cringy is the "Sara likes Suvi" conversation. I'm generally the first to roll my eyes and leave, but I felt that this scene was reasonably well done.

Seriously, when you're stationed at a COP in the middle of bum fuckistan you horse around sometimes. Or if you're a marine you draw dicks on everything for a past time hobby. Anyways I'll admit, daily was an exaggeration, however there were days when no one was trying to kill you and you're shit was finished that you just killed time.
