My first DA love... I swear those other Origin romances meant nothing to me, Alistair. Nothing! I felt so guilty, but I just had to do all of them. \ Warden Alistair is such a pretty boy.... JUST LOOK AT THAT DANG SMILE. GOSH DANG ALISTAIR! Seeing him like this for me: I might have a thing for love the Warden Armor, but his King outfit is rather fetching too. ...All right, feeling creepy now.

Hehe I love the "Why yes, I've licked many lampposts" response from the warden. Alistair gets all cutely flustered. I haven't ever had a warden who'd actually say that but I'll pick it and reload so that way it never technically happened

I like the options with his romance. My first character threw herself at him, then my second was all shy and virginal and waited for him to make the first move. I think I preferred leaving him as a Warden though, if I ever do a canon run I may leave him like that. He's a King in my current run and I don't think the poor pet is very happy about it. Which do you guys prefer? (I have had him as a wandering drunk once, but I flat out refuse to kill him)

But since he is unhappy as king (and lets be honest he is not a good king) I don't know if I should make him a drunk for my canon. He eventually returns with the wardens but the friendship... I don't know what to do.

Which do you guys prefer? (I have had him as a wandering drunk once, but I flat out refuse to kill him) I remember the very first time I played the game this was an incredibly difficult decision. My warden truely believed he'd be an amazing king but didn't appoint him since it wasn't what he wanted. She believed he could do just as much good being a GW. My second hof said what the hell and made him king. Imagine my surprise when he dumped her Omg! Lol. I reloaded that scene as soon as that was over with. I was so mad when he gave his gf (ex?) some crap about making him king when he asked for it over Anora as queen. Wth, lovely, make up your mind! hehe, lucky he's so cute.. I just can't stay mad at him Long story short, he is always a warden with my HoF since they're all in love with him and they don't like sharing :3 I have never, ever, ever spared Loghain and I never could. Partly because I always feel he doesnt deserve the chance and because I couldn't 'betray' Alistair.

I think I prefer him as king with my Cousland, which is my canon. Having said that, I think he's probably happier as a warden... at least until DAI.

I went with the coy/patient approach first (with my Mage) and then a rawr/forward approach (with my Cousland -- who became Queen with him as King, naturally.) I prefer Alistair as a Warden. Despite the dangers it's what seems to make him happiest. It comes with some adventuring benefits later so that's also a plus! Never had him as a drunk. And I will NEVER kill him either.

I've done all the endings for dear old Alistair, and yes I think he is happier as a Warden.
That said my favourite and my canon PT is my city elf rogue with a sassy but very practical personality who wins him into her bed with humour and a smart mouth. She then makes him King with Anora as Queen and stays on as his very public mistress.

Oh, my romanced Wardens always bond with Alistair thanks to humor. After first sexy time: Alistair: "...You know everyone is going to talk about this. That's what they do." Warden: "First smart remark and I feed them to the darkspawn." Alistair: "See? This is why I love you!" My canon has the Warden and Alistair as wardens together, but have the King and Queen world state for good measure. I did make him King with Anora as Queen once. Link

Played Origins twice. Was romanced by him the first time with my city elf and they stayed Wardens together. He was lover number .... 6 with my Isabella-esque Cousland. Power focused, vengeance hungry, Alistair hardening Queen of Fereldan. With Zevran as a lover on the side; she never did get around to breaking it off with that Elf after she told Alistair she was all for him. But harm him in any way? Absolutely not. It is my number one rule. I've also told my husband, who is playing Origins the first time, that that is also his number one rule.

I did do one playthrough where my Warden didn't like him. Unfortunately he had nothing to say whatsoever, it sucked. I wanted him to get mad with me so we could argue but nope. First time round I couldn't bear to harden him but then I romanced him again. This time round he was gonna be King and my Warden Queen so I bit the bullet and did it. Omg he was so much better, he actually stood up for their relationship and said nothing would break them up. It was great, so now I always harden him (whilst being temporarily deaf saying that mean line) to make him a better person. Especially if he's King. EDIT - Honestly I think it's badly implemented by BioWare. A hardened Alistair is a better King and stands up for his relationship with the Warden, but making it happen requires being super awful to him. They should've found a more elegant solution that clearly states what's at stake to the player. You should NOT need the wiki open to be able to make that kind of thing happen.

I love Alistair! He was my first Dragon Age love. I never killed him or made him drunk. He is so cute to be killed... I made him king in my first playthrough but my HoF was a dwarf and imagine the feels after he dumped my character! I couldn't stay mad at him though.. I looked up DA wiki and learned human noble was the only one who could marry him so I played as human noble in my second playthrough just to be able to stay with him... He stayed as a warden once in my playthroughs though I admit he is happier and I love how he talks about HoF in DA:I. Especially "Maker's breath, but I do miss that woman." line is great! I didn't like hardening him since he changes much and I like him as he is. I know he becomes a better King and doesn't dump the warden but still...
