So that means even A.I.'s want some good banging? Geth romance confirmed finally?! Already confirmed with EDI. Too this day, I think EDI (and Joker's romance) would have been better if EDI had a male chasis, not a female sexbot body. Same personality. Same voice. Metal dick. Let Joker freak on that.

The way I see it is that they're the PC because they're that strong, not the other way around. That's how one should write it anyway. If you make a game where the campaign and missions require you to be a one-man army, you write the PC to be a one-man army, not some regular grunt who's inexplicably mowing down scores of enemies. I wasn't arguing for Shep being a better fighter than Ryder (tho I'd say she is), I was saying that the Cypher isn't the main thing making Shep special imo. Not disagreeing, but clarifying my point- /snip That is totally disagreeing though : P My POV is exactly the opposite of that.

Ha, I mean 'not disagreeing' in the sense of 'I'm not telling you you're wrong.' I respect your POV, even though I don't share it. I just don't disagree in a disagreeable way, lol. We disagree on the 'badass because PC' or 'PC because badass,' which we could continue to debate in abstract if you prefer.

It's kind of a question of POV, so pretty moot argument I'd say.

When Ryder used the Remnant without Sams help, my minds eye immediately was filled with Keanu Reeves holding up his hand and frying the Sentinels..... I think the reliance on Sam just became boring... Oh scan 3 times in 3 different locations for Sam to conjure up a nav point with giving you no other option to just figure out or wander yourself. Honestly I think the sudoku type puzzles would have been a good fit to figure out Nav points for inconsequential fetch quests.... About the other comments about Shepheard vs Pathfinder... It's a narrative dead end when you write into the script "Only you can save the world" and like many people said already, where is the prove... I thought the handling of the Pathfinder was ridiculous right from the get go. The whole initiative is relying 4 people and AI ti figure out everything?.. And you save the day , just because of happenstance, there is a vault?.... I don't need the game to kiss my ass when I kill the same enemy with the same guns everyone else is using. Don't tell me my armor is special and that's how you knew I was different either.....

You are part of a hand picked crew, a fairly important crew in the scope of things. And you have never even talked. Let alone trained together... come on now. I mean after reading the book I get it AI as a whole is completely Inept. But they paint your dad as smart and a great soldier. And he thinks a unit that has never met setting down on alien planets together is a good idea? I hope somewhere along the lines it comes out that some how they were invited. By the Jaradeen? The Kett? Someone. So they thought this would be cake walk and they would have help, Otherwise I find it hard how horribly bad the AI plan is.

Actually the Pathfinder thing makes a little sense.
It sounds like the Ryders signed up VERY late, or at least the 'whole family'.
And then, yes they thought this was more likely to be a cakewalk than any opening of a mass relay route to unknown space. Challenges, sure, but that in several centuries nothing that crazy would happen. And they have a history of tens of thousands of years to act as example.

It doesn't just 'sound like'- it's explicitly raised that Alec Ryder didn't bring his children into the project until pretty late. Alec was one of the important people of the project- connected to the Benefactor- but the rest of his family wasn't really involved.

This guy makes some good, and applicable points as to why Ryder and crew can be forgettable. If TIM and Miranda Lawson hadn't discovered the "Jesus Gene" then Shepard would never have been resurrected. In fact, without this magical resurrection that was impossible for anyone else at all, there would have been no Mass Effect games featuring Shepard beyond the first one. True, the Resurrection thing was a 'what?' BUT Shephard does most things that follow of his/her own back and allies, (apart from the Catalyst, which is one part of the reason I utterly loathe space-Pol Pot) if they had left out the weird died/ressurected cycle, Shephard would have still worked, however, leave out SAM And Ryder doesn't, everything Ryder achieves is because of SAM, the profiles? SAM, the code breaking? SAM, the interfacing with remnant tech? SAM.

He's got the fighting skills, and could potentially also be biotic, but what would have happened when he ran across Remnant tech? Nothing. No scanner means no ability to decrypt. No SAM means no interfacing with Remnant tech. EDIT: But that probably just proves the point, that it couldn't happen without SAM.

It also highlights a problem: with the quality of writing and variety of Shephard, people would most likely have been more ok with that, but Ryder just feels, bland, he doesn't really get angry, or act out of idealism, he just is, a feel good hero, with no depth to him.

There isn't any reason to me why Scott and Sara couldn't have met the others of the Pathfinder team (in the span of days/weeks) and understood their basic personalities, backgrounds, if they have biotics, etc. There's nothing that directly indicates to me that they joined in a short enough time for no sort of briefing and team building, even that Alec history.

Listening to SAM tells you "if you scan this you can do that" is not very different from hearing Geralt tells himself "If I witcher sense this I can find that".How else would a player know what kind of griffin you are dealing with if Geralt didn't talk to himself about it?
It is just a way of explanation things to the player.

The difference is, SAM is another person telling the PC what to do, Geralt is just a weirdo who talks to himself.

SAM is a plot device, and I am OK with it. But I do agree with him about the ending, the huge Kett fleet and all that. He clearly did not need rem-tech to force people into exaltation. His obsession with remnants is clearly a character flaw, but its hard to accept it as a minor plot hole.
