Attempting to do a speed run of Diablo 3 campaign with my hardcore wizard (on Normal, duh) but I keep going the wrong way in various (required) dungeons which is causing me to take too long. Finished Act 1 and am almost through Act 2 but didn't make either in under 1 hour. If I could be on constant "speed shrine" mode, that would at least help me run the wrong way faster.

Well thanks to my house sitting ways I got the chance to try out Black Flag...got involved in a naval battle, stumbled around after an Assassin, took a tour of Abstergo's studio (they doing video games or movies?), and made it to Havana. Nothing mmmuch to say, just not sure it'll be my cup of tea.
Edit: Actually it is kind of funny that back when Black Flag piqued my radar originally as something I might want to play I remember being really put off by it not having any dialogue trees or options, even rudimentary ones. I mean hell this was comparatively early in my 'RPG career' for lack of a better word and I was really into the genre, obviously its not so much of an annoyance anymore but its ironic that Assassin's Creed actually has dialogue options now and that B. RP control of a character makes everything better.

Finished Acts 3 and 4 both in under an hour each, mostly because they are way shorter than the first two to begin with. Now in Act 5 - not sure I'll be able to finish it in under an hour given the maze that is Westmarch, not to mention the Corvus ruins. Ugh, and Pandemonium!

Okay... finally finished Shadow of the Tomb Raider. And I'm torn on this. On the one hand, when it's good, it is really good. The cutscenes are great, the voice acting is good, the interplay between the main characters, most of the tombs are at least decent, and there was obviously a lot of time and effort put into those environments. But when it's not, it can range from grindy and mildly annoying to just... bafflingly awful. The storyline was certainly a weak point in the game for me. It starts off strong, and the final act, while uneven, has its moments. But the bulk of the game in the middle is just... blah. I felt so little investment in this storyline. There's so much fetch questing and grind it just got tedious after a while. The gameplay is largely the same as the previous game, with just a couple of minor additions. I was kinda hoping they'd shake it up a little more as it feels a lot like an expansion pack to the previous game. But it's serviceable. But I hated all the backtracking you had to do in this game. There are tools and weapons you need to get access certain treasure chests and tombs that you don't get until quite a bit later in the game. It just felt it was done to needlessly pad out the game. And I'm not sure what the game is trying to say about Lara, other than she's... little better than the "villains" of the game? She has a lot of innocent blood on her hands in this one. She even gets called out on it, and... just doesn't really care. There was a missed opportunity to go somewhere with this, but it just... doesn't. Further, the two main communities in this game are filled with people who are poor to destitute. Lara isn't just Raiding their Tombs, she Raids Everything, period. The game is like - loot everything! From everyone! You're gonna need those weapon upgrades later! And nobody seems to mind you looting their houses right in front of them... (Mind you, you are armed like a one-woman militia. ) And there's just straight-up baffling points in the game. At one point, you lose all your weapons (except your knife) and are forced into a stealth section of the game. And I mean forced, literally. You end up having to cross this valley full of soldiers armed with automatic weapons, night-vision goggles, body armor, grenades - the works. And I thought, "No problem, I'll stealth one, loot 'em, and be back in business." But no. The game will not let you pick up anything off the soldiers during this segment. So you have to stealth your way through the entire mission area with just your knife and whatever makeshift molotov cocktails you can whip up. For... reasons. Even more baffling is the point in the game where you're given a costume to pass yourself off as a priest of this rival faction. And... I'm struggling to even find the words to describe this level of wtf-ness. You're in a skirt with bare arms and legs with your brunette ponytail streaming behind you. And I'm like... Is this a joke? You're a caucasian English girl trying to pass yourself off a Peruvian priest. And, of course, everyone buys it. Even though there are no caucasians, brunettes, or women in their priesthood. And let's not even get into the whole English accent thing, as you have to talk your way past a number of guards. And the game itself seems be uncertain whether Lara should be a superhuman Goddess of Death... or a porcelain doll. When the story calls for it, she's like the Terminator, mowing down the opposition, with soldiers crapping their pants at the mere mention of her name. And other times she'll get taken out in cutscenes with almost comical ease. No spoilers, but the final Boss Battle too felt... underwhelming. And a grind. It wasn't terri-bad, but it lacked the epic scope I felt it needed to cap off the trilogy. The run-up to the final battle though was far more interesting, with some cool story beats. That part I did enjoy. Final verdict: 6/10

Wrapped up Dragonspear with Carcaryn Goldweaver.
Ended up restarting the game from the end of the prologue dungeon since I wasn't happy with some of my smaller choices. Ended up putting Safana in the team, so it was Viconia, Mod NPC and Safana, then Edwin came later. Voghlin also joined for a spell but was replaced by Dorn. So it seems that Mod NPC was jealous because of Corwin last time around, since he didn't stop to sulk even once in this go. He did have a bit of an issue with Dorn, but managed to settle it without sulking. So that was splendid.
Not much of note happened, except we drowned a chicken and killed an overgrown lizard. Otherwise it was fairly similiar to last time, except maybe a bit meaner? Also skipped a couple of quests since Carcaryn is less of a busybody than Hollysharp.
Had to switch the difficulty down from Core to Normal for the final fight, since after trying many, many times, I just wasn't having fun any more, but didn't want to budge on my choices. But the sour taste of that victory was quickly sweetened by the epilogue. Carcaryn was delightfully sarcastic about what happened and I even got a different mini dungeon for the ending. And meeting up with the party later was just divine. Again she has a decent motivation for the next game, since nobody ruins her victory high and get's away with it!
Ended the session in BG2. So far the starting spot is a lot less horrible than I remember, but I haven't seen mr Otyugh so it could just be false sensation of security.

Dreamfall Chapters This game is not intuitive. Seriously, I don't know what section I haven't had to Google what the hell I'm supposed to do. Oh? I have to do a thing I've literally never done the entire game? neat. I wonder if I'll ever do this task again. Anyway. *very dramatic conversation where she confesses her back story and love.* "Um, you do know I'm gay, right?" Oh look, I got to use the gimmick one more time. "Why did you pull me up?" PC: "Because you begged me to?" "You infuriate me." PC; "Why?" "Because you continue to do things that don't allow me to hate you." Okay, dragontartare , I can see why you ship them.

In the game you have the option to have them speak in their native language, or in English. Since I was expecting a lot of combat in this game, and I didn't want to try and read subtitles in a firefight, I had set it to English. But it's assumed they were speaking in Peruvian.

I’m still enjoying AC Odyssey. I’m almost exactly at 102 hours played and the game is still getting better in some ways. It’s huge and has a ton of story and world to offer. If you like big, open world action RPGs, this may be one you’d like. I think even someone unfamiliar with AC could jump in and follow it easily. I’d say the game’s only real weakness is that the first 20 hours feel like you’re in low gear, in terms of character power and capability. It’s fine, but it was a big departure from expectations for me. (Maybe a newcomer wouldn’t even notice.) The power curve is a bit wonky, jumping from low-power to uber-power somewhat suddenly. There are four difficulty modes, so everyone is covered. If you like optimizing your gear and skills, you’ll like the harder difficulties where it’s a must.
VA work is strong. I’d first have described it as solid, but a wider assortment of situations has improved my opinion. The VA and facial animations often capture a thought or feeling perfectly. The RP opportunities are pretty good. I feel like it’s maybe a bit more nuanced than Ryder in MEA with his Nice Guy/Silly Nice Guy persona. Aleksios or Kassandra can be nice, selfish, ruthless and maybe any of the three, depending upon the situation. I never thought I’d praise AC for RP mechanics and options, but there it is. These options and the characters really grow in strength as you get further into the game. If you can make the commitment, this is a really good game.

AC Odyssey I definitely like the combat. Especially the flow of the killing blow, that finale; a leap up and two thrust downwards or a thrust with Leonidas spear through the chest and a swipe across the throat. When you're feeling vindictive, the spray of blood and the finale certainly went a long way in satiating the bloodlust. I like it best when I hunt down the bounty NPCs; you do not want to f*** with me. I just finished the Dagger quest line. Ran into mobs and charge into battle, all alone. The ability to climb anywhere just makes it more fun (or rather, the devs made it such that you can climb anywhere, no restrictions. Love it); lead the stupid mobs on a chase; up, down, over. Come get me. Oh I'm sorry, did I just kick you off the edge? Well, you shouldn't be standing there or climbing up there. I'm enjoying this game. I'm more than 50 hours in and I didn't progress very much in the main story, I'm doing a lot of other side quests and going cross country to open up the zones. Raiding tombs You'd think they're still alive but they're dead.

I'd like to replay Diablo III, but I'd have to go onto the Korean servers, and they are very laggy at my end. Unfortunately I already have a character on both European and US servers. There's no method of resetting your account and making a fresh start, except by starting over on a different server, all your items, gold and Paragon points, along with completed profession quests are shared between characters, meaning that new characters start with a totally unfair advantage. I absolutely hate this system of sharing everything between all characters; I want each character to be unique, start with nothing, and stand on it's own two feet.
I tried to play by just destroying everything in my inventory, blowing all my gold on combining gems and trying to ignore the Paragon Points I'd accumulated, not putting any into the character - but I was constantly aware of it, and it ruined the experience.

I don't even have a chance to re-do them to win the set pieces again. At lvl70 Hellfire Amulets and Rings are simply another legendaries, but what's special about them is that you can equip them at level 1, which gives HUGE boost in difficulty you can play at and - as a result - experience gain. For example, yesterday after posting, I took my level one demon hunter for a short run. Equipped with only legendary bow, lvl25 Gem of Ease, Hellfire Amulet and Hellfire Ring, I was able to complete Torment I rift one-shotting everything (that was from level 1 to 49, since that's how far that one rift took me, without equipping anything that dropped). I was gaining levels so fast game lagged behind showing which level I achieved So that's main beauty of Hellfire stuff (plus since it's jewelery, you can also equip legendary gems if you have them for additional boost). Aww, pity about set items. Trying to get missing ones means dealing with Kadala, which is never fun. One good thing about this season is that Tal Rasha is 7-piece set, so at last one you should get 3 pieces. That means you'll have to hunt only 1 more piece for max set bonus.

Diablo 3. Since I already started, I decided to finish leveling my demon hunter thru Torment I rifts. As expected, the closer I got to level 70, the less likely I was to one-shot anything. But even with longer kill time, boosted Multishot and Vault made rifting quick and painless. I even got a goblin party in one of the rifts! Pity I was only on Torment I, on higher difficulties drop would be amazing.
After reaching lvl70 and equipping my dh with some max level legendaries, I decided to switch to wizard to do some bounty hunting. I plan to stash my bounty rewards and open them on dh, in hopes of getting something for him. It was great idea, since on my first bounty I met Rainbow Goblin. The only notable drop would be Puzzle Ring, though I would trade 10 of them for second Unity ring.
In the end I managed to gather 20 bounty chests plus some unidentified legendaries for dh to identify. So, after opening all of them I had bag full of legendaries and A LOT of Blood Shards. Let me tell you, this game is adamant on me going Multishot build, because I literally got 4 different set pieces for Unhallowed set, no rerolling involved, making it only one piece short from getting full set bonus, since I have ring that lowers requirements. Plus I think it's clear sign that Kadala will only cooperate with demon hunter.
At this point, no shenaningans of this game will surprise me.

Second hardcore char is now toast, so I guess I'm done for this season. I created a regular seasonal necromancer and it still shows season progress the same but I have none of the benefits of having done any of it. Which is dumb. If I have to start everything over from 0, I should start from 0 on the season achievements too. I can't even get a set for a different class under this system. Oh well, time for a different game, I think.

AC Odyssey Came across a blacksmith who was immediately smitten with Kass. Thing is, he's holding a quest item so she did what he asked; collect flowers. When she returned, he tried to get her to sleep with him. No go. I would find it hilarious if he tries to follow her all over Greece. Would be good if he offers a discount on his goods and services but I doubt it's going to happen. He's not even marked on the map as a blacksmith.

In the land of fake Football Patriots versus the Falcons. 45-10 was the final score. The only points they got was on a pick six. Brady threw five touchdowns and over 400 yards for a 133.3 QBR. Dion Lewis rushed for 95 and I had well over 100 yards from scrimage rushing. Only real other note of the game was Edelman had 6 catches, and three of them for touchdowns all in the first half. The first one game on a beautiful out route with Edelman in the slot he bounced off a Falcon defender and spun around for the touchdown. The second one came on a great play where he practically chaseda Falcon into the endzone, probably'd never actually happen but it was glorious. Edelman, Gronk, and Ryder all had 6 catches on the game and Tight Ends were wild with Brady completing 15 passes to people in the position.

Yesterday in the underground I missed a telltale sign of danger approaching. I had killed of the mobs when I got the pause and screen blur. Me being still wet behind the ears and oblivious to the danger went about loot searching when they attacked me from two directions. Shadows within shadows. I went down without even seeing the enemy. My first encounter with the Hunters. Well, in the next underground expedition I came to a station where I got repeatedly spawning Rioters. the first mob was Rikers but while searching for clues a group of Rioters spawned. I dispatched them as well, and then the pause, the screen blur. And yes the radar showed new enemies from two directions. The hunters were here. The first one I spotted fairly quickly. Caught it with my flame turret and gunned him/her down, but of course they have medkits and whatnot. So it was a harder fight than usual. The second one was harder to find, took me a while of creeping, cover-to-cover moves, searching etc. Eventually I was fairly certain I had the Hunter behind the next pillar in cover. I threw my flame turret and bingo! What ensued was a prolonged duel in the tunnels. At one point we tried to facetank each other on the tracks. We both had to use a medkit there and I had to retreat to cover, got my turret back from cooldown and this time he was out of healing. BAM! My first two Hunters! It felt good.

AC Odyssey If there's one thing I don't understand, it's the AI behaviour of freed captives. Once freed, they would run everywhere except out of the cave, camp or ruins. This can create some confusion when for some reason, they came running back when I was fighting with bad guys. What for? I know for certain that the bounty tag is not necessarily put by the Spartans / Athenians. It was because some numbskull civilian NPC saw the assassination. Some of these places have no walls and opened to the public so it's inevitable they will see the killing. Ran into a NPC who wanted to train for some Champion battle. Kass helped her to train with a duel, take out a pack of wolves and a run to the hill top. She came on three times to Kass and I chose no. These encounters are just too shallow and too fast for me. I like her present armor and I think I'm going to stick to it. I rarely use the horse. I'm running everywhere. After the battle, everyone got stuck in the ground. Actually, they're dead.
