In the continued spirit of 'just sit down and finish the fucking game' I've completed Tales From the Borderlands! Enjoyed it a lot - I'm more attached to the first season of The Walking Dead but I think it's the best Telltale game I've played. I'm going to miss their style, unless someone else comes along and starts making interactive TV shows where you have to mash Q a lot.
Of course, there are still the two Batman games that I haven't played yet, so I guess I've got those to look forward to. (Haven't played Guardians of the Galaxy or Game of Thrones, either, but I hear the former wasn't worth it and I have no interest in Westeros in any form.)

AC Odyssey Not sure which chapter it is now but took part in the Olympics. Its fortunate the fights aren't too many. Found a cultist and went after him after the Olympics. Killed him and two Athenian soldiers who came upon the fight. Then I got a bounty of three which meant three mercenaries would be coming for me. Even after killing eight, the bounty is still there when I turned off the game. Expecting more heads to roll when I go back in. They didn't fare too good. Then a couple more turned up, due to I suspect, the idiot civilians yelling s**** on seeing the bodies so the bounties stayed there as I moved along. Bring them on!

I loaded up the Witness again for something peaceful to play. I finished perhaps 70% of it last year, but I thought I'd start fresh. Probably give up after a couple of hours. Anyway I know Hrungr played it recently, did you find the secret ending? I start again in the starting area, the fort, and I look at the gate you have to open and the sun above it. Now that I've played it I know about the landscape puzzles. When you see a circle find a line that will touch it, then activate them to light up a symbol on a totem pole. It looked just like it so I did it, thinking I missed it first time round as I was a newb, only for a secret building to emerge and a big easter egg ending come up. It's one of the most WUT moments I've had in a game. Very odd. If you've played, go start a new game and play it (but it may save over your old save). Here's a video of it but the guy rushed through and missed some of the audio files - Honestly I think it's pretty fucking terrible, but there may be some higher meaning here that I'm missing.

But since it was the my first time playing the game, I was also like, "Uhh..."

AC Odyssey Finished the main story and I made all the right decisions; happy ending. Woot! There're two nice tidy tie ups. No end credits though I was expecting a return to the present since there's still the matter of the present day team. What're they going to do with the legacy that Kass passed to them? Didn't happen. Ah well. I suppose it's a chance to finish up side quests, etc though there's not much point imo. The final leveling of the spear is a bit puzzling though. It came too late to be of any use. Rather it was hardly use at all! Hope for more story of Kass in DLCs. At one point in the last part of the main story where the bounties are persistent, I ported to the highest point over Athens and promptly started shooting at the mercenaries milling there. Not a one could climb that high so they were running uselessly here and there. Then came the funny part where the Athenian soldiers turned on the mercenaries! They killed one and then forgot about the second. I killed nearly 30 mercenaries in all. Of the "romances", only did one to see what came of it. Nothing. Refused every approaches thereafter.

I'm seeing too much of survival and battle royale games that it's a bore to watch them. They may look different but it's basically the same gameplay; go around all over the game world, collect weapons, mats, craft, build, shoot up / f*** up one another or shoot up zombies or nightmare critters or robots. Right now it's Fallout 76. Doesn't look any different from other mmos I've been seeing nowadays. This is one of the reasons I stopped watching streams, as well as some YouTubers. The same shit everywhere. Atm, from gameplay stuff, I'm only watching AC:O and - since it came out - Spider-Man's first DLC, though that's short watch. Edit: Awww, just saw I got mini-Azmodan in D3 for Virtual Ticket.

Then a couple more turned up, due to I suspect, the idiot civilians yelling s**** on seeing the bodies so the bounties stayed there as I moved along. Bring them on! Ha had a similar situation yesterday, had a bounty of 3 and ended up killing 5 I think but for some reason the bounty slowly started going down until after about 20 minutes it was gone completely???? Also had a weird glitch yesterday sailing. Attacked three ships and having defeated two, I hit "S" to stop and turn around but the ship just went full speed in reverse and I couldn't stop it. Kept hitting "W" and after about 10 seconds the ship finally started forward again. Also had my 2nd "Alpha Animal" glitch and again it was a Wolf in a cave. I think the game didn't like me killing it and its friend in one attack and so didn't acknowledge I'd killed it. Went back later and went easy on the poor wolf this time. Got to spend way too much time playing the last two days and its still not enough, so much to do and so much fun to be had doing it. Have mostly abandoned stealth except at the start of a mission because I am enjoying the combat so much and also it saves time. Also have to keep reminding myself to take the time to enjoy the magnificent environments. Definitely the best game I have played for a long while, just don't piss off the Chickens and Roosters.

So back to the land of Fallout 4. Had a bit of a long and tiring day at work yesteday so I did nothing too much in FO 4. Just puttered around Diamond City for a bit. Did 'Confidence Man' and cleaned up Diamond City's Water.
Confidence man was a fun quest. It was interesting though the bit where you go to rescue Vadim had the classic set up written all over it...but they really were shooting at me and I watched their heads explode! It was also really funny because I convinced Scarlett to give what's his face...Travis! a chance and then she was in his radio room and was all like "Iam on a break"...I bet you are...I bet you are.
Final note just hoping that I don't have to go back to Diamond City every five minutes, but then just with that one quest I already put my inventory over the limit. I really like how DA and MEA handled their inventories. I could go days without having to sell stuff.

Sleeping Dogs was on sale at 85% off, then I decided to buy. The controls are a bit bad. On keyboards, you hold a key to run, but that same key is also used to climb or vault, like in AC games, but you actuallly have to stop running and press the buttom to climb. On the positive side, you don't start climbing something if you run close to that object. And in combat, there's no dodge and you can't counter-attack someone behind you if the camera isn't right. But it's far from being unplayable and I just have to get used to it.
But the game wins my heart because of the narrative: Just a guy going against some gangs, until now. I always prefer personal stories, devoid of pretentious bullshit, over anything else.

Twitch Stream is where I check out new games coming in so I can decide whether I want to buy. It looks like most devs are just simply following the current trend; survival, battle royale, which means, there are no new games on the horizon for me.

Obsidian Gryphon, the timing of discoveries and perks is largely up to you in Odyssey, since the three storylines are somewhat independent and can be pursued according to the player’s desire. What comes late for one might arrive a bit earlier for another. We also have the DLC season to consider. All of that accumulated power will be welcome when the next chapter arrives in December. I, too, have been playing the heck out of Odyssey. I completed my first PT with Alexios (Platinum and 100% Completionist), and now I’m well into my second PT with Kassandra. I’ve done a lot without progressing the story very far. I’m enjoying her so far. The game does feel a bit different to me depending upon the sibling, despite mostly unaltered content. Both VAs are excellent, as are many of the minor NPCs. Ubi knows how to build a high-quality, polished experience, recycled/UBIquitous mechanics or not.

KoA Ugh, I hate limited inventory space! I had to leave stuff behind in a cave, thinking I could go back after I was done with the quest to retrieve it, but nope. Cave in on the front end and cliff on the back end made it so I couldn't get back to where I left the loot. The only way to expand inventory is to buy backpacks but the only one I've seen available cost a whopping 15K gold (at a time in the game when I had maybe 5K?). Even still, what a ridiculous amount to charge for a few inventory slots! So irritating!
On the plus side, I found a couple pieces of rogue set armor and some better daggers. Met with the Warsworn and the Travelers and got their "get into our club" quests. As a rogue-ish character I should be all over the Travelers' quest, but I don't see the point in stealing stuff just because they want to sell it to the highest bidder.

Element Zero , there's three story lines? I'm not aware of that. I thought it's just one main line. I started on the guy. Since I've acclimatised to the gameplay, things went a bit faster. Saw a civilian guy oddly shimmering / sliding to the side. I saw the reason why; another civilian guy was stuck in him. So I deliberately ran into them to see what would happen. Would they separate? Hey presto! Out popped three guys! I find the plucked strings / music track when the player goes into stealth sounds oddly similar to a Dishonored II sequence. Maybe I'm just mixing them up.

They’re definitely interwoven, but can be completed in different orders depending upon player prerogative. I had a weird NPC moment in my first PT. Something looked iffy, but I went ahead and unleashed a headshot. No damage was done, and the NPC split into nearly a dozen enemies. 😆

I thought there would be a big fight at the end which was why I pursued that higher level only to find it's not needed.

Did it take everyone to get those final 22? It’s hard to recall after soooo much Odyssey. It was more of a formality, anyway. Level 5 was the real benchmark. It’s cool to have the extra flare when cruising in the post-game. I assume it will be helpful and story-relevant in the DLC episodes. I get the impression that the protagonist eventually expends the power of the spear in some significant way. I like how the spear progresses. Ring of Chaos is like a firecracker at Level 1. At 5 it’s like a supernova. The fully evolved spear has some crazy visuals. The thing looks pretty epic while in combat.

Have had some really weird things happen in combat when boarding especially like being teleported etc. Obsidian Gryphon I had a guy stuck in the middle of a rock yesterday but couldn't find King Arthur to pull him out.

Mods.
Mods!
MODS!
This time I plan to actually finish the main quest, and at least try the DLC. According to steam I previously logged over 330 hours in it without doing so. This time will be different.. probably.

Ever have one of those days where your co-op partner does 80% of the killing having 4 times your DPS and then decides to finish his turn with killing a THIRD enemy with a powerful scroll (consumable) instead of just letting you at least deliver the finishing blow? Ever felt like strangling that person who doesn't even get why you're angry now and not having fun anymore? Ever feel like on top of strangling them you'd also like to club them to death when they innocently suggest they'll buy you a nice crossbow with all the excess gold from all those OP daggers they looted and don't need anymore? While you were still reading notes on tables? Ever secretly put an oil barrel in their inventory and watch them walk slowly for several minutes before realizing it, and sadly that was the best revenge you could come up with, nevertheless filling you with spiteful joy?
On the bright side, we can finally leave that cursed island now...
