Mission: It's Complicated
*plays the tutorial* you as the big brain send teams on missions to save people and ultimately the world. The missions are at night and then they go on romantic dates during the day. So it's more like Breeding your Pokemon, you just have to match them up and make sure they get along first before the banging happens. That's a neat idea but it's me me me who wants to bang. There is only so many layers of voyeurism I want to peer through. Pass. Starlight Shores: DemoCollege people going on a Beach weekend getaway. But I missed that it was a male protaganist and when I realized that and the trope premise, I turned it off. The CG art was pretty at least. Planet Diver*turns it on* Retro graphics *watches for a bit, then clicks around and nothing happens*.... I have no idea how to play this. This is obviously not a pure VN, so...bye. Roll+Heart attempt 2:no idea why the mini game won't work and I double checked that technically it isn't supposed to play at all after checking the correct box in the settings. eh Who killed my father?Interesting 4th wall breaking premise. The PC talks directly to you at the start of the game, and asks you to help her find out who murdered her father. The writing is acceptable but the art is what turned me off. next. That Which Binds UsYay, I'll probably finish this one. A magic knife that makes people forget who you are. So now I'm wondering if literally every NPC she meets is really her ex friend/lover/family member that she was forced to forget. It would be even more amusing if the guy who does the magic knife used it on himself and he and the PC used to date, but then both were forced to forget the other. And then they find their way back to each other anyway! how sweet. No idea if that's happening, but at least I'm invested.

Finished the first Alan Wake DLC - The Signal. It's pretty much filler. You wind up doing the same things you were doing in the main game, but without advancing the story in any meaningful way. The 2nd DLC "The Writer" looks like it's more of the same, so I think I might skip it and play American Nightmare instead.

In Greedfall: So Petrus's quest was interesting and cool, I mean I did genuinely enjoy it. Buuuut my immersion meter was once again stretched to the breaking point. . So the first objective was to SNEAK into the Mother Cardinal's apartment without anyone being none the wiser. But the thing was the only way to get to get to her apartments was to walk right through her crowded throne room to get to the stairs going up. To make things even worse when I get close to her she automatically went into a cutscene where she gave me a new quest...which is actually probably something I am going to be doing tonight probably. But other than that it was a bit fun following the clues and the information and the sordid details on what the MC is up to and the lengths she is going to hide herself. Though I do have to wonder just why Petrus is so dang interested in this. Just if his ambitions aren't entirely benign. The other thing was I felt so bad for Siora when she had to wear a 'comfortable vest' to blend in...though the comfortable vest is kind of bitchin.

Will do. Other than a bit of a learning curve at the start - and no difficulty settings - it is really great so far. You'll like the ashtray maze. Also, Ahti is Finnish and uses a lot of Finnish idioms, apparently - hence the odd language, the developers (who are Finnish) did literal translations.

Pathfinder: Kingmaker Found the troll lair in a dwarven fortress. Jubilost was happy to mark the place in his map and gave Aeowyn a reward for helping him find the fortress. Was greeted by a polite troll named Jazon and convinced him to bring them before his king (this was my 3rd lawfull action which means i`ve got the In the name of the Law achievement). King Hargulka was not happy though, hit Jazon in the face and ordered his trolls to kill the baroness and her companions. In the next room the group found Kargadd, the rock troll responsable for the death of Ekundayo`s family, and the troll two kids. Aeowyn convinced Ekundayo to spared the kids, and tricked Kargadd into the sunlight, turning him into a nice stone statue. In the 2nd floor, the group found Jazon again and he was so disappointed with his king`s actions that decided to left intead of fighting the baroness. In the central room they finally found Hargulka and Tartuk. First they defeated the troll king and then Tartuk. Aeowyn had an enlightening conversation with Tartuk about he`s transformation but in the end she decided he was still a danger for her land and killed him. Harrim, who had asked to came along to the dwarven fortress, found an ancient anvil that once belonged to the smiths of the fortress, who worshiped Torag. After changing a few words with Aeowyn about Torag and Groetus he became angry and delivered a strong blow with his fist to the anvil base, destroying it. Still mad, he smashed the anvil again, which uncovered a red stone gem. Feeling more calm afterwards he gave the gem to Aeowyn to dispose of it as she pleases. Outside the fortress they found Jazon again, and he told them he would remain in the fortress but promised not to eat people.

Done with Kingdoms of Amalur Re2. I really don't think the game is "underrated gem" in any way as many people describe it. It's a 6.5-7 game that has the potential for more, but never reaches it. It's a MMO turned into SP game that tries to mask it with silly design choices. The "Persuasion" skill is practically useless - often it does nothing and there is zero difference between a success or failure, except a line of dialogue. It's especially obvious toward the end of the game where you succeed in the persuasion attempt and still have to fight and kill the other person as if you failed.
The zones get bigger as you progress, but at the same time they have less quests and all of them are the same "10 rat tails". Enemies start to pop up in unskippable cutscenes, which gets annoying real fast, especially since they aren't even unique enemies. Overall it's obvious the game had to be rushed at some point and the ending suffered.
The story started interesting, but turned out to be very underwhelming the more you progress it. The final few dungeons just give a few lines of exposition to close it up. There is a plot twist, that probably was supposed to be big when the game was in the developing stages, but it's just a couple of sentences in the final 5 minutes of the game. And you will most likely miss it, because you hear it while you are most likely clicking some Lorestones whose voiced dialogue completely dubs over the NPC voice.
Definitely not a game worth a remaster or even a second PT by me. Time for Squadrons.

Injustice 2
Well, compelling story aside, I really REALLY wish you could play as the good Superman from the prime universe.
Still, mechanically, he's my best and favorite fighter.
The Flash, Green Lantern, and Wonder Woman are up there as well
--------
Hitman 2
In a complete disconnect from my usual "kill-no-innocent" style... I entered Miami and decided to cause as much chaos without being 'detected'
It's crazy how many guards show up when you make a mess.
--------
Mass Effect: Andromeda
Running a heavily-modded game, Sentinel-only profile, Insanity.
Ah, the memes.

Busy playing the final season on the Journey atm as I'm playing the season out so I can import an Alex Hunter into a career mode on Fifa 19. Also using it as an excuse to get some practice in before Fifa 21 drops next week. Also I needed a bit of a break from the Avengers game so pretty good timing really. Almost finished withthe reigning supreme mission chain as I only have 2 more quests to do but I do need to level up some more first.

SMT Devil Survivor Overclocked Kaido and Honda did not make me cry. Koudlak did! Because screw him. Also realized that I've doomed one of two characters to die, because I tried to be clever and give A the item they need to be able to kill the monster hunting them, instead of holding on to it and giving it to the bloke hunting B, hence keeping him busy saving A. Because the road to hell and all. Extra salt since I did get some suspicions and tried to keep the item but got duo-smacked across the head by my companions and didn't think to reload and not initiate the encounter because, like they said keeping it was a dick move. So this really is on them... Also only got saves past the time I made the decision, because hurrah for only having three saves... So going to take a small break to let the salt levels die out, since they are reaching critical. (I do know who I'm going to save though, it's just that getting through the level is really, really annoying.) Been going back to and quitting and going back to Horizon Zero Dawn. Because it makes me so salty, but I just can't justify why so give it another go and end up quitting in a huff. So that's fun. Highlight of the session was overriding a Grazer and then watch in horror as he massacred his friends. Why, why you do that. I only wanted to ride you...

I'm at the beginning of the game at the moment and it is quite enjoyable. The combat is, at least. Also I've used the Persuasion skill to get a nice pair of daggers from a side quest, so it is not useless.
It is also very "old school" at some points. One of the main female NPCs and her elven armor with its aura of protection. Removing the local population from the area, so we (myself and this explorer) can loot it.

That Which Binds Us
I'm starting to think that I've picked up another novel where I don't actually get to choose who I romance. I don't mind Mr Knife guy, but I like more choices in my games. But maybe the "common route" is just particularly long.
List of games remaining from Ichio to try:
- Kanji Combat (although this is more of a learning game) - Retrace Win - SVH - Tales from Windy Meadow
Free VNs I just grabbed off Steam: - Blush Blush - Cateau - Your Dry Delight - Without a Voice - XOXO Droplets - The Far Rings: a space opera - Royal Alchemist Demo
VNs I just purchased off Steam for <$7: - Sounds of Verity - Destiny's Princess a War Story - The Men of Yoshiwara and Ohgiya (bundle)
Am surprised that I own: - Mystic Destinies (it even says I played for 21 minutes. no memory of this) - Nowhere Girl
I'm sure ichio has more visual novels if I wished, but I prefer my games from Steam. The UI of the Library is way better.

In Greedfall: Lets see here. Ah yes I did the quest where we went to Eden to go solve the issues that are happening down there between Thalame and the natives of the island. I wonder what it says about me that whenever a fictional religion (especially Sci Fi and Fantasy) is portrayed with any sort of nuance that I am shocked and impressed? Anyways I suppose that's neither here nor there but my De Sardet might be getting the hand of this whole diplomacy thing. I actually think he got through the quest without resorting to any sort of bloodshed at all. Which was quite a delicate situation and I am actually glad I was able to resort through the meandering paths in order to get a just outcome. Of course though when I was thinking and fearing it wasn't going to work out, it actually did. The prime example was one dialogue choice was either a 50% charm choice or to offer them something in exchange for the tablets. This ended up being to go to the other clans village to get them to accept the refugees even though they weren't all warriors...I wasn't really thinking the game would go for this, and usually this has been blowing up in my face. And it worked. Also nervous that they would be stubborn about their pro warrior stance (because they are busy getting ready for war ) but, and this is something the game does get some points for, I solved the quest 'Inquisition' to the Natives benefits they allowed them in in the end. Mind you these omens of war aren't exactly giving my diplomatic heart at ease. The actual village of Eden itself was an interesting study in a few different points. First of all the Thelame side of things was all, from my understanding, pretty reasonable about things. Justinius especially came off as being very even handed and he acknowledged mistakes were made and he promised to do better, the sister there was wide eyed and idealistic, and Virgil was more just bored by the whole thing but he even said some things to indicate he was basically harmless. I got a big kick out of the whole native leader reaction though to the whole thing the basically 'ok keep your heads down, play nice, pretend to love their god and everything will get along'. But then you have the whole exiled warrior angle too, just looking for a place more then anything, and the native mom of said warriors which were helping the priests but also was very concerned about her child. Just...honestly in retrospect this might be the best quest the game has offered to date, certainly the best side quest and while I do harp on this game and its not ideal one of the things this game does...maybe punch above its weight class in...is its 'side quests'.

I love good world building side quests. Probably why I love games like KOTOR, ME2 and DA2. And also why I rate Greedfall as highly, despite it's clunkiness in other areas. There is a follow up to that Eden quest. And I enjoyed it a lot as well. It's tied to main story progression, so you might not receive it yet. And you seem close to the worst side quest in the game. You hear about "logging camp", you run the other way.

Well, I noped out of ever considering that game if it tries to paint RL history-linked colonisation as something "grey". I don't want to work with a faction giving the choice of either converting natives by force or slowly assimilating them. Why not just simply leave them alone?

I don't want to work with a faction giving the choice of either converting natives by force or slowly assimilating them. Why not just simply leave them alone? You are taking a single sentence without any context and turning it in a completely wrong judgement of the game's story, lore and world. Trust me, the game has loads of nuance on just about every aspect of the colonization theme, looking at it from many sides. And yes, it's not only black and white. But nothing ever is. Funnily enough, you can approach the situation as being only black and white and act accordingly, including
kicking the colonists out completely. And that dooms their entire world since to a degree they are forced to colonize and aggressively look for answers among the natives to cure the disease that's wiping out the Old World. For a double whammy you can even become the evil new God to the natives and kinda screw everyone.
You are not forced to work with any faction. In fact you can work against them. It's a big part of the game.

I played Highway Blossoms + the DLC, as I remember seeing it recommended somewhere and it was on sale. Visual Novels aren't usually my thing, but this was really good. I found the relationship build up very convincing, and the characters had sufficient depth to be believable.
Plus, I liked the soundtrack:

You hear about "logging camp", you run the other way. In Greedfall: So Aphra is kind of on my shit list. It was also really funny too because I got a +1 with the natives which had gotten me up to 'friendly' and then she ruined it...at least temporarily. So was doing the start to her personal mission where she wanted to go and study the native culture and how they do their thing...which honestly is a more or less benign objective but she is choosing a horrible way of going about it. So we get there, save two native people, and they invite us into their village where we meet Duncaas, who is quite an MVP in his own right...and then he and a bunch of elders leave the camp which Aphra is...suspicious of for some reason? And she wants to go follow them at a distance. I, the player, thought this was a dumb idea but the game did not give me any further objectives or ways of resolving it so follow them I did. And while I did sneak past it triggered what I assume is them seeing me no matter what so yeah -1 with the natives. Of course I can't really blame them in this case. And...granted this game does not do this often but this is at least the second time where its come up, where in this case the screen faded to black and Aphra was like 'oh I learned so much' or 'oh that was frustrating' but the player has no real input or actually gets to see these events. So yeah, Aphra is probably not going to be my A team alternate Petrus definiley has the lead their. And why didn't you like the logging camp quest? Was it just the jumping around and going all throughout the island to solve it? Yeah that was alittle frustrating... It did touch on another historical theme, much like the last one, this time from a dark chapter in the history of the United States. The clash of cultures when it comes to ideas of ownership and how the Congregation feels they have bought the land and the natives having no idea what that means. Curiously though, while there are obvious bad actors in each faction in the game the reaction from Congregation leadership was...regret? Not sure if that is too strong a word but it was there. And a willingness to learn and do better and come up with a compromise suitable for all parties. Of course the other surprising revelation from the whole thing (though it probably shouldn't have) was the ultimate identity of the one who cooked up the murder scheme on the native side ended up being the same one who gave the quest. Quite surprising. And now to continue the compromise I have to work with the natives and investigate a mine...oh the joys of pre indurstrial diplomacy.

That Which Binds Us*sighs, disgruntled* I don't agree with this romantic pairing. But maybe they deserve each other. She's bit of a passive pessimistic retail worker, but her confusion about actually having goals and plans for the future being stifled are somewhat supported by her having huge gaps in her memory. I just don't agree that she should forgive someone who unilaterally decided that she should forget a huge chunk of her life. And then his statement, "I thought after I got everything figured out, we'd just reconnect." like, oh, how romantic. Wipe my memories and then hope I stay on the shelf like a doll waiting for you. But I bet some people think it's all just tragic romantic and people are complicated and

she wanted to go and study the native culture and how they do their thing...which honestly is a more or less benign objective but she is choosing a horrible way of going about it And she learns nothing about respect from the whole ordeal either. Not only was she not my A team, I couldn't be bothered to take her anywhere.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-reckoning. I am slowly progressing. I've achieved the rank of Pledgeshield (2?) for the Warsworn (mercenary/warriors). The loot system is ridiculous (RNG-heavy and color-coded), but it has its moments - I found a pair of unique vampiric daggers inside a bear (had it eaten them or their former owner?). The game in general looks very lovely visually. Screenshots (spoiler-free, early locations, 1 stealth-kill, 1 fateless-mode kill):

Sweet Volley High
"This is me. I have very large breasts. I am not good at anything that this high school is known for (arts and music) nor the things that this school is not known for (sports.) Even though I am in this Volleyball Club in Tokyo, it is just to make my application for college better. Even though I don't know I would even go to college for anyway! lol. Anyways. I like spending time standing around doing nothing and reading books. Oh, here is this other Very Large breasted girl from my Volleyball club. She is great at it!"
Practice ends.
The screen changes to two highschool girls in the locker room changing, and one has her panties to her knees. I don't know if she just lacks pubic hair or if they're implying this is NOT a nudity shot because her thighs are so close.
But since I'm not a voyueristic pedo, I turned the game off.
