You're making me want to play BG2 again xD. It's not my favourite game of all time, but I think it's the game I have the most fond memories of, if that makes any sense. Yes, it does. My impression is that the games hold up very well. There's stuff they didn't try to do, but the stuff they did do was done well. The combat system is both full of garbage abilities and gear and is highly exploitable. But I'm thinking that these are maybe good things. Determining which abilities are good and what the exploits are is how you master the game. I don't think we're likely to see this kind of design much anymore, particularly in games with a MP component. Being able to drop a major boss in two rounds with good planning and a bit of luck isn't something I've seen lately. Imagine dropping a DAI high dragon in 30 seconds. Oddly, the game is a bit weak in the choice-and-consequence thing. The EE content is somewhat better; better enough that the low quality of available walkthroughs really stands out. Speaking of which, looks like Rasaad's now on the outs with the Sun Soul Order. (There was at least one alternate resolution, but I'm not sure how you get it or if I even would have wanted it.) I was going to swap him out, but since I've accidentally assembled a themed party I think I'll keep him. Everybody's an exile of some sort. CHARNAME has been exiled from both Candlekeep and Baldur's Gate, Jaheira's renounced the Harpers ATM, Minsc has lost his witch, Rasaad has no monk order anymore, Neera's been thrown out of pretty much everyplace, and Yoshimo's not even on his home continent. (I debated swapping him for Nalia, who'd fit even better and give me two mages to play with, but she's not really enough of a thief and the Spellhold sequence plays out a bit weird without him.)

With Difficulty, yes, with player level, no. But some encounters will spawn tougher enemies, according to player level. Like doing a ruined temple might have a Skeleton Knight at a lower level, but if your level is high enough, it will spawn a Lich, instead. I believe BG-series scaling is somewhat less wide-open than that. The range would be more like ghoul to mummy. (NWN1 did have full-range scaling, which can make for an interesting NG+ run.) And a fair amount of stuff won't scale at all. For most purposes, I think this is the better approach. The power curve should be meaningful in the world. sirpetrakus's example is actually from the game: the Amaunator temple. I'm not exactly sure the level required to start seeing the demi-liches (or full lich, whatever can cast time-stop), but going in there at BG2 original level cap pit you against those while playing a "floor is lava", while going there at lower levels it's "only" skeleton warriors and mummies... But yes, a fair amount doesn't scale, especially bosses fights, but in some cases the scaling is just subtle like one or two more mooks or a goblin turned into a goblin shaman. I think the scaling is also locked the first time you enter the area as well.

Unavowed Finished the game today. It was fun. Ironically the people who made it with me to the end were Vinnie and Logan, who I never used in the main game. Hue hue. There were some regrets, some nice ideas and then some more regrets. Got what I assume is a happy ending, but in hindsight I'd like the darker version of it.
But instead of reloading and getting it I started a second run. Male bartender named Samuel, Sam to friends. So was delighted to see Sammy's bar and heartbroken when I realized he wasn't the owner. At least...not yet. Hue hue. Not sure if I'll finish the run. But that's another days problem.

BioShock 2Got a good chunk of this game actually played and decided to, well drop a few things and rearrange a few things because well... I got games to play and too much to do otherwise. But I guess that is neither here nor there. So yeah after just starting up this game last time I basically got through the first two 'bosses' of the game. As I mentioned before this games gameplay is still night and day when compared to the first game in mostly a good fashion to. Probably one of the biggest complaints about the first game that I had from a gameplay perspective is A. everything felt way to random and a big random melee clash of stuff and not actual battle, and B. there wasn't a lot of excuses to actually use your plasmids...I felt. It was just a lot more handy to grab a gun and shoot rather then fiddle round with the plasmids most of the time. The difference now though with you being able to use both at once...except when aiming...is it actually solves both problems. Obviously the no plasmid usage is pretty much null and void since you do not have to 'switch' to both...and having the plasmids available on demand introduces actual combat and strategy into the mix. Like being able to blast them with an electrobolt and then landing a headshot is becoming a particular favorite of mine. On the negative side though this game does have the propensity to...what's the word I am looking for?..be trolly in its gameplay decisions. It took me a while to get used to the fact that healing yourself is no longer circle. Its right on the d pad...circle is melee...and they switched the buttons for the harvest and rescue the Little Sisters, which did lead to one panicked moment when I thought I hit the wrong one out of arrogant instinct. On the story front it was a little bit of an interesting decision I must say letting you reason with Grace like that and be able to chose to not kill her...which of course leads to her helping you and going to talk to Dr. Lamb and all those implications. ANd yet you are forced to kill brother 1 which also pisses off brother 2 enough to where you have to kill them both. And of course Ryan's amusement park is always a kick as the giant hand reaches down to lay waste to everything. Its also weird it seems even though I really did like this game and on balance enjoying it a lot more then 1 this time I really do not remember it...though yes that one bit that I thought was in Bio 1 ended up being in Bio 2 instead which is always a plus. But yeah just most of it is not familiar at all even down to the plasmids. I am also doing what I think I did last time and not really hunting down the LSs as much unless I stumble upon them and I just have not cared. Also on that note it is a bit of a weird design decision because in Bio 1 you can go back to any previous area at will...I didn't....but you could. In Bio 2 you cannot do it. Civilization 6Testing stuff out, starting with Civ. And well I am the Americans and right now chose continents this time and boy it is barbarian central right now. Also the Spartans and Japanese seem to be close in and the Japanese is already starting to pen me in...so lets see if I get any more then three cities.

SWTOR Belsavis the iced jungle prison... I like Belsavis. The Imperial storyline there is kinda boring outside the very end when meeting the Dread Masters, but the planet is pretty and has interesting vistas. The Bounty Hunter storyline is somewhat tied to the planet Imp storyline too. You're basically trying to stop a Republic dude from stopping the Imp teams sent to free the Dread Masters...but you end up the one who free the Dread Masters via the planet story even if you save the team first via the class story (you can tell them the Dread Masters aren't free yet). You also get Skadge as a companion and I hate him! Thankfully, I can now pretend he's not around. After leaving the planet, Torian was mysteriously adducted. You have to wonder how, Belsavis is basically not on any map and my mission was secret....and nobody wants to talk to me since I made the top of the Republic Most Wanted list. One of the charges: destroying an entire planetary ecosystem. For the record, that doesn't happen. The Republic accuse the BH of everything to use them as scapegoat as well has make their daily life hell just because a Jedi Master is buddy with the Chancellor. It's hilarious that this Jedi Master act all "I'm justice" then act like a corrupted greedy person with too much power right when they don't get what they want. He also send people to kill you and then call you a murder when you kill them in self-defense. I told Mako I was going to get her boyfriend back. I personally think Mako/Torian is much better than mBH/Mako and fBH/Torian. I always get them together.

I'm not sure where to put this. No GW2 threads that I could find. Anet published the last part of the Icebrood Saga today and made a few announcements. If anyone here play/played GW2 but don't have all the Living Story episodes, you'll be able to unlock them for free, one per week it seems, starting May 25th. On July 13, they will reactivate the Twisted Marionnette world boss event. The rest of the stuff I don't really care about (PvP mostly), but they confirmed a new generation of Legendaries will come with the next expansion, along new elite specs. edit: All my "interest" games are releasing stuff around the same time. It's weird. Valhalla, MELE, GW2, SWTOR...I don't have the time for all of those.

Played Portal Reloaded (a mod for Portal 2) the other day. Really cool mod! It adds a third portal, which is a time travel portal that put you into the same environment 20 years in the future. You can place normal portals in both time frames but everything you do in the present influences the future. Meaning if you place a portal or move a cube in the present, it will also move the same in the future but not the other way round. This makes for some truly mind bending puzzles. It took me about 5 hours to finish the campaign but I think I kinda glitched my way through some of the later puzzles (in the last chamber I just bypassed a couple of laser barriers that I am fairly sure I was meant to shut off and I didn't even use a light bridge that was there). It tells a neat little story (with a pretty cool ending) and has some great voice acting by the male Aperture Science computer that keeps you company. To anyone who enjoyed Portal 2 and doesn't mind a bit of a challange, I can really recommend to at least try it out. It's free to download at the steam store if you already own Portal 2 (which at this point, who doesn't?). I award this mod 5 Aperture Science weighted storage cubes, which together with their future counterparts makes 5x2=10 out of 10 cubes.

I wonder if the Amaunator temple has different scaling rules because it's likely a part of a sidequest in chapter 6 even if the player cleared it in chapter 2.

Unavowed Did a few more cases with Samuel. Meeting Logan again was fun and it was interesting to drag him along for the next mission as well. Kinda sad I couldn't take him on the boat chase, but at the same time what the heck was he going to do anyways. Toss KayKay at the enemy? Or maybe use the butter knife. I still think it would work if you thrust it hard enough. Mildly amused how little of a damn the characters seemed to give about me killing the General. Creepy shadow dude who eats human flesh, how dare you?! A general of formerly peaceful people being ripped away from his people during a brutal war which is absolutely decimating his people? Ah who gives a damn he's a jerk anyways. Let's just yeet his pawn into the ocean and watch hysteria unfold. Figure I'll pick the options I don't like this run and then do a final run with the police character and pick the options I got left/ the ones I liked if there are only two options. Because I find the backgrounds fascinating and kinda interested in the variance of options depending on what people you have with you. Since in my first run pretty much everything could be solved by Eli's fire reading. Figure Logan will be the star this run and the final run will be using Vicki and Mandana and seeing how these problems can be solved with stabbing/shooting them. (Also wow I am horrible at names and very happy they characters can't read my posts...) This is of course all assuming I can tear myself from Stardew Valley. Because those parsnips man, they are something else...

BioShock 2Did the next section with Stanley Poole and then the next bit after that with Gil Alexender most of the way. Gill Alexender's section probably was the one that gave me the most trouble last time when I was trying to go through and do it getting lost on the bot panels. This time didn't have as much issue as I did and was able to get it done with at least limited amount of pain. It was in the next section which something hillarious happened. I had restored power and then well had a Little Sister extracting Adam from a corpse and then another Little Sister and Big Daddy wandered on through and they got pulled into it which I had to kill the Big Daddy which made the LS sad and gave me some amount of heart ache because I am a human being and well couldn't deal with it because I can't have two of them at once apparently. So off to go to get through the area and then a little while later and a THIRD Big Daddy and LS was coming along right across the second one...I did not tangle with it but got right on out of the way. City SkylinesStarted a new City, the 'Citadel' and I think I am quite proud of it so far just man do you need a lot more residential before you need anything else its just in very high demand around there and has really messed with a lot of my early plans for the city. And well I really should pause to plan more, just having issues and trying to outrun the urban sprawl before it hits me, its not working. Still making over 1000 dollars a month now.

SWTOR New patch, new feature: Galactic Season. I'm not sure how long this will last, but the way it work you are pretty much forced to do PvP (either unranked warzones or GSF). As you can only refresh the dailies/weeklies once to get something else. I had an operation weekly (which I can't do because I'm not 306 gear) and it refreshed to a weekly warzones. I have no issue with GSF, but the drop in ability was noticeable in my match yesterday. I had a record of 8 kills, when before this new patch having 2 kills meant I had a great game. I also found myself doing one warzone, which I haven't done since the game launched...and I got like 2 kills and top medals. lol. I was also killed a few times in a row early on because I had zero idea what I was doing. I don't really like warzones. We also lost despite controlling two of the 3 things to controls. I still have no idea what was going on there. I also did the Black Hole daily for the Galactic Season which lots of people were complaining about despite it taking 20 minutes on Imp side (its longer on Republic side). Then it was off to Hoth to save Torian and kill some bounty hunters hunting me. I brought Mako to save her boyfriend. Then some chit-chat in the ship (I'm super annoyed that learning Mandalorian from Torian is a flirt option, the other two are dismissing learning it). And once that was all done, I flew to Voss. To kill a Republic General for an ambassador... I'm not quite sure how that's getting me closer to the real target Darth Tormen asked me to kill, but whatever it pays. ----- GW2 I jumped into that game to finish the Icebrood Saga as the latest part released yesterday. Well almost finish, I still have three missions to go to finish it. The worst part thought, I lost my muscle memory to control my character. It was awful... But I'm also thankful I was playing a Necro, because I have no idea how I'm going to do some of those Dragon Response Missions on another class. Way too many hard hitting AOEs all over the place you have to dodge. The Necro can actually tank some of them...

I logged in once every month just to ensure my guild I'm alive but did not pick up where I stopped regards the story. I don't know when I'll be in the mood to go back in again. Maybe if the devs bother putting in some romance or something for the player character. I find the other characters in the stories ok but not terribly fascinating.

I've of a mind to play DA again so I popped DAO back in with a graphic mod to brighten up the game world. As usual, I used cheats to get more gold.

Finished Horizon Zero Dawn. I kinda forgot how much I liked this game. Sequels generally don't turn my crank, but can't help it now, I'm excited for Forbidden West. I liked that there were a number of mentions of the Frozen Wilds questline during the main quest, and my Banuk peeps from The Cut showed up for the final fight.
The Stormslinger weapon really won be over. Especially if you are in a situation where accidentally killing yourself isn't going to set you back too much. LOL. I was trying to do the Hunting Grounds trials for Commander Shepard, my best time was still a minute longer than the target time. Finally I got annoyed enough that I pulled out the Stormslinger and started running around like a kamikaze, ended up shaving three minutes off my time!
I started a new game plus playthrough on Ultra Hard. I'm as good as I'm ever gonna be at this game, and I'd like to unlock all the face paints for future playthroughs. I'll probably mostly stick to the main quest. Though after finishing the prologue I noticed I was missing most of my unique armor mods, eventually I realized they had been equipped on a suit of armor that didn't carry over. So after changing my loadout, I'm off to replay the prologue. Haha. Couldn't live without those mods!

BioShock 2
Well I can really say that BioShock 2 has one of those great endings which really elevates the overall work, takes the whole thing together, and takes all the themes the game has been doing and really starts paying them all off. Of course it is not entirely without at least one problem or two but the overall effect has to rank among some of the best endings in history and it goes a long way to making BioShock 2 one of my favorite games of all time.
It gets really emotional there as you watch Lamb kill, even briefly, her own daughter. But then it just gets pure and utterly cool as you give Eleanor the stuff she needs in order to make her into her own Big Sister. Then together you absoletly can wreck everything in your path and she actually has quite a few nifty abilities of her own and comes out pretty fully kitted, even compared to the other Big Sisters you run into, as you just tear into one Splicer after another. Then tension begins to rise as Lamb continues to cut off your means of escape, subverting Sinclair into a Big Daddy and then starting to detonate charges as you are trying to escape threatening to send the building into the abyss and killing them all.

You can refresh weeklies? Hmm, have to check how in case I get some silly Ops. I don't do Ops. My weeklies were GSF and Warzones. How do you get only 2 kills in GSF? Even back in the day when the pool was tiny and was mostly good players, I could always find quite a few low on health targets with no defensive CDs to gank on Anyway, yeah, there are more players and the skill level is not high. It's telling that I lost only a couple of game in the past 2 weeks or so. I can often carry a team by myself, which was rare years ago.
As for Warzones - I also haven't played them much in years. Ever since they gave all classes too many abilities and broke the Huttball balance beyond repair. Still, I went in and actually did quite a few games instead of only the required 3 for the weekly. I was using a Madness Sorcerer, which in the current meta seems to be somewhere between "useless" and "easy kill". It didn't bother me, most players were on the strongest meta classes, but sucked big time, so I did quite ok. Proudest moment - on 30% HP, used the big bubble, waited with no teammate in sight while 6-7 people were also waiting to finish me off, bubble ends, I pop my blinding regular bubble, CC everyone and speed away to safety laughing while Overloading (with root CC) the couple of Shadows that tried to follow. That would have never worked in the old days. Also - people don't know how to play Huttball anymore. It used to be an art form. Even the simplest strategies worked for me. Almost no one tried to push me off ledges. They just gank me and try to finish me off. You don't do that in Huttball, you should CC/push enemy players, position and play for the ball. Since Sorcs in PvP are apparently rare, many people forgot Sorcs can pull friendly players. Boy, that was too easy sometimes.
Btw, do you have to do all the daily/weeklies to get the full rewards or you can skip some of the stuff (without having to pay for it later)?

I try to get Mako and Torian together this time too. Last time I botched it by accidentally clicking on a flirt option, hopefully this time, it will work. And yes, I hate Skadge too. I ignored him last time and I think, I'll do it this time around too. Love Gault though.
