Far Cry New Dawn. So Bunny got another possible name. Lollipop, from the fight club (in which the first rule is : Talk about it as much as possible, get some exposure!). So that was nice. Fight club less so but had more fun than in the Far Cry 4 arena. And learned that holding the mouse button gives a much meatier hit with the melee weapons. So that's fun.
So horrifying event of the day. Was travelling with Pastor Jerome, whose thing is tossing molotovs. So come upon a hostage and three highwaymen near a car. Send the Pastor to take care of the Highwaymen, to get some kills to his name. So he takes them out, then tosses a molotov on the last one. So the grass around the hostage is burning. So run over, let the hostage loose and she moves ever so slightly from the fire. But she ends up not catching on fire. So Bunny and Jerome are standing there, watching her, kinda amazed she made it out alive. Then BOOM the car explodes killing her instantly... It was not her day. Granted if that wouldn't have happened she'd probably have died to the inevitably spawning Wolverines.
Ended up doing most of old Holland Valley today, having fun trying to figure out what the places used to be and stuff. Think my favorite bit was recruiting Selene, because her comments were amusing and the waterpump stuff was pretty fun. Can't think of any mission I didn't like, well except Timber's recruitment mission and that was just because I felt bad about the dogs. But oh he's such a hero for saving them. Best dog for sure. And adorable as well. Look at him!
Bumped difficulty up to tough and haven't regretted it so far. But might in the future. Also found that the higher tier weapons have silencers, which is a pretty good reason for upgrading. Also learned that motorcycles don't have radios, which is just awful in general. Do I want to bop to music or do I want to ride a cool vehicle? Hard choices indeed. And finally, learned that the big fish in the water nip Bunny's feet. Thankfully not too hard, so no Shark/Slaughterfish terrors, but still. Yet another proof that fish are the devil.
Figure next session will be clearing out old Henbane River, because delaying Fall's End sounds like an excellent idea.
I did go back a bit to Baldurs Gate 3. I'm trying not to play too much to not get burned out, but I still have my bard playthrough (bard class is a mod, since it is not yet implemented). I posted her already, Liya Tana.
She has found out, that the acting first druid of the grove is conspiring with shadow druids (for non D&D players: basically eco terrorists and very violent) and then she found Auntie Ethels hutt and got rid of some pesky redcaps before entering the hutt. Auntie Ethel is my favorite villain so far -she is just so well written.
Here is Auntie aka best villainess, in the red armor is my bard Liya and behind her, her future waifu Shadowheart
This was a fun screenshot - don't they look badass?

Hey fatty boom boom, hit me with the ching-ching, fat pocket clinking, dollar eye twinkling, jeez da beats so chunky, me'sa getting funky, ooh ooh oooooh!
... why does that Die Antwoord tune play in every enemy lair ever (in FC New Dawn) So I took all the bases to three stars without problems, but before that run I did some helicopter missions to get crafting materials for the highest level guns. Now Enforcers drop with AP ammo immediately when hit to head. Excellent. I also like how I recognized the places from FC5.
Also I always hear that "dollar eye twinkling" as "Kalahari drinking" ...

I decided to play a Viking female character of the same timeline as Sigurd-Snake-In-The-Eye. I've the thought that she would have the same empowerment as Sigurd but surprisingly, no. She couldn't have consorts. She's restricted to one spouse.
The two ways to change it is total realm authority which won't happen in another twenty years after which the laws of the realm could be changed. The other is to change / start a new religion.
So much for thinking Viking ladies have pretty good political autonomy.

The only starting religions that allow women to have consorts, to my knowledge, are a handful in West Africa and Tibet.
Been playing the Diablo 2 Resurrected Beta over the weekend.
Visually it's beautiful. They really perfectly captured the style while updating it. Super nice. I hope D4 will go in that direction (and from what we've seen, it probably will). Good stuff. Same goes for the cutscenes. Both the intro and the act 2 cinematic are great re-imaginations of the old ones.
All the old sounds and the old gameplay bring back many good memories. Fantastic.
I wish they had made more adjustments to make gameplay a little more modern though. I get that they wanted to keep the old gameplay intact but why not have a classic mode and an updated mode? You can already tell that gamepad controls (for which they dared to update a few things) is much better to play with than M/KB. And I am an M/KB fanatic and never use gamepads for anything, so if even I say this, you can tell that M/KB is just massively outdated at this point. An example: With gameplad, you can map 12 skills to the pad (6 buttons, plus a switch to a second skillset of 6 if you hold LT). with the mouse, you can only have 2 skills (left and right mouse button) and you need to switch them with the F keys but you switch, then use them, whereas with the controller, you can use 6 of them directly. So that also means that passive skills (like the Paladin's auras) are great on gamepad, you just put them on one of the keys and forget about them, whereas with M/KB, they take up valuable slots. Also, when you are in gamepad mode, you have an auto-sort function for your (very very small) inventory. This is very useful, especially because the standard stacking of items is rather crappy. With M/KB, you don't have that. Why the heck not? It's clearly in the game. Give it to me! And finally, the animations are actually smoother (more like in D3) with the gamepad whereas with M/KB, they clearly are still following the old 8 directions from the original game, even with the new graphics. Gamepad controls also kinda make some gameplay "features" redundant as you have an auto lock an enemies in your field of view. This makes stuff like light radius useless, whereas with M/KB, enemies in your vicinity are not marked, so if you are in a dark cave and don't have a high light radius they can be quite hard to spot (which is annoying, especially for enemies with bows). So gamepad controls actually make the game a bit easier in that sense.
All in all, I also wish they had made a few more changes, like increase inventory size a little bit at least (well, they did massively increase the stash, so that's great but I would have liked the inventory to be a little bigger as well). Also, I probably would have removed some annoying things like the locked chests and keys. Again, I get that they wanted to keep the original intact but as I said, just make a classic and a convenient mode). Anyway, all in all, it's a very decent remaster and most of my criticisms are more a matter of taste than anything else. So I am looking forward to playing through the entire campaign again in September. It'll be lot's of fun.

I "cleared" all of the none Core Tyria map up to and including Path of Fire expac on my little Necro. Except Silverwaste, they changed it so you can't go into the Vinewrath area without completing Vinewrather (that's going to be annoying).
The little Necro now has over 500 hero points, enough to unlock Scourge and the next expac elite spec.
Elite spec I'm going to try tomorrow as the beta start. I expect it to be awful, because the current design is terrible.
I need to advance my latest SWTOR Consular. I haven't played her in a while too...
I got my ass handed to me by Hiss Tommasi for about the 8th time now.
Control has lots of frustration built into it, a little too difficult overall for my liking on a first playthrough. Still, at 46/67 and still haven't completed the two DLCs, so it will be a pretty thorough one if I can ever beat this asshole and his goons.
From the moment I understood the weakness of my flesh it disgusted me. I craved the strength and certainty of steel, I aspired to the purity of the blessed machine...
I'm back at Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus, now with the Heretek DLC installed. My faithful cohort of tech-priests smashed the heretek uprising on the Caestus Metalican. One Skitarii Vanguard and a Kastelan Robot were destroyed in the final battle, and my cohort limped out of it badly hurt. But the Omnissiah guided their hands (and mechadendrites) as they brought the fury of Mars down onto the enemy. The remains of the arch-heretek Epsilus Dammoth-Yoth were burned and cast into space, for some knowledge should not be sought.

Yeah it's a good game in genera lbut the lack of difficulty options is why I don' t touch it much.

That's the only boss that gave me trouble in the game.
Use the rapid fire gun while keeping your distance and stay at the ground level near the orange tubes to use them as cover. Focus on the adds instead of him when they show up too, but try to keep everyone in your line of sight.
I also threw a few things at him...I love throwing things in Control.
It's been awhile, but I consumed another Otome Visual Novel while I was resting today.
Lost in Secular Love
Female MC with three male options, all of them monks at a monastery.
1st place, I straight up like me some tsunderes (Fenris as a Bioware example). I love banter- even if it sort of looks like arguing. so ZiQing was my favorite. The romance style is closest to reality, at least to me. Two attractive people, play bantering to test the depths of chemistry until it explodes. Their personalities were similar, which I only mention specifically because sometimes some of these romances make no actual sense. I swooned on both his good and bad "ends" and his voice actor was great (I say that as someone who rarely listens to the audio)
2nd place goes to HuiHang because of the shopping scene being cute, meaning they had something in common. I mildly enjoy the "we mustn't be together because -reasons-" angle (Bioware example, Blackwall until he confesses), although I've mostly grown out of it. There is very rarely a good reason outside of cheating that two people can't bang. So I kinda lose my patience for it. also- Y NO SEXY SCENE, the other romances got one. Psh! Another drawback is the MC hating on herself so badly. There is self deprecating and then there is dramatically low self esteem.
Zhikong was an interesting and unique exploration of what it would be like for two people to encourage the worst of themselves to the surface and simultaneously eroticize it. But he loses points in the lovemaking translation (this was chinese? to english), unless they actually wanted to describe an incomplete attempted rape where the girl literally just freezes in confusion while someone gropes them. She at least catches on later, so definitely less rapey after that. I would say this romance had the same interest for me as the movie "Gone Girl" in that reading/watching it was horrifying in a " I can't stop watching this wreck and I hope it never happens to me." But then he straight up rapes her in HuiHangs bad ending, over and over, getting off on the fact she's losing her mind. So his base canon psychopathy on all routes is simply a turn off and so he's last place forever, in spite of the unique structure of their mutual fall from humanity.
So that was fun. Do not regret the purchase. Spent 7 hours on it.

Pierce.
Control makes you learn how to play. I had been able to avoid this up to this point, by having decent aim and enough twitch left in my fingers to get out of some stupid scenarios I put myself in.
Essentially, I roflstomped most of the game, only to get hammered by a few difficult boss fights. Each one has tricks to teach you.
What did I fail to learn before Tommasi? Using other gun forms, using Shield at all.I used Grip for 99% of my run, ignoring the forms because the seemed underwhelming to me and I was happy with grip damage because I can mostly hit head shots.
So, I watched a video
Then I beat his ass. Pierce wrecks him, Shield is a fun power that I understand now, and this will make the jukebox crap easier.
Control won't hold your hand, but if you let it, it will teach you how to git gud.
Finished my run of Far Cry New Dawn. All in all I liked it. Timber is so cute. I knew he could sit in cars, but didn't know he could also stick his cute little head through the window and let his tongue flap. Which massively increased Bunny ramming the car into trees because she was distracted by that cuteness. Sadly he could not join on boat rides (and pretty sure helicopter rides too, but only rode them once and he was busy at the time doing dog stuff).
Horatio was also a cute little piggie. Never knew pig grunts could sound so comforting until I had that unit stomping about.
Kinda sad you could only have one companion at a time though, because Bunny doesn't talk much, at all, so it got real quiet at times.
Some thoughts/venting on the ending. With massive spoilers. Like seriously. No rose talk. Just spoilers.
Kinda lost interest in the run after going Through the Wringer quest. Not so much because Rush died but because his character felt so wasted. Wish there could've been like one or two recon/chill missions with him. Because when he died I felt nothing and it felt just wrong given how hyped up he was.
And that was a pity because the next two missions were really fun. The fact that I flipped the difficulty down to explorer might have helped though. But it was fun, the Bullet factory mission was a breath of fresh air being pushed to be more sneaky sneak. And the Derby mission was also super fun. Even if the Derby itself was nonsense and had to do some cheaty stuff to get through that bit. Worth it for the slow motion scene later though.
Mickey and Lou boss fight was such a frustration. Again happy I put the difficulty down, because I suffered, in the most annoying way possible. Aka getting cornered in and stun locked kind of ways. And may also have been way underprepared weapon wise. Granted it made killing them even more satisfying. Like I smashed both their corpses in with a nail stick when they went down because I wanted them to stay down. Forever. So yeah Mickey got a nail board to the head after their cutscene. And two molotovs. Then some more smashing for a good measure. So will give them credits for being good bosses in an emotional way at least. In hindsight a lot of the rage might have been because they hit Timber a few times, because their health started dropping faster when I called him in for backup...
Ethan was a cake walk in comparison, with his giant glowing "shoot me" lights and lack of helicopter backup and stuff. Joseph is presumably still kneeling by the tree screaming for someone to "Release him". So yeah, didn't kill him out of spite. If he wants death as a release, there is a perfectly good cliff/fire/stashes of ammo/sharp rocks/tree's ect. But he has to release himself. Or live stewing in the hell he created.
Meanwhile, Bunny will be snuggling Timber and enjoying some beers in Prosperity.
I just started Tomb Raider 2013, I got to here i.imgur.com/FdJMjgH.jpg Now I'm stuck. How do I drop to mount ladder? I've pushed every key on the keyboard and nothing works, the shift key does nothing.
Edit: Exiting the game and reloading the last checkpoint save (no manual saves) got the shift key working and I was able to continue, until I got to the invisible ledge, I could shimmy along left or right, but couldn't climb up on the invisible ledge, so I had to press shift and drop to my death. i.imgur.com/7hEilY1.jpg I had to give up on the game, too many times it would just not acknowledge me pressing the keys.
Trying the Diablo 2 Resurrected Beta. Oh boy, where do I begin. Pros: - Lighting and feel very much spot on - Higher resolution support
- Skills and weapons still feel the same, no differences to gameplay for authentic Diablo 2 experience
Cons: - Very buggy. Not just graphical. Still a beta, but remember, this game launches in ... 32 days? Depending on your time zone, maybe a day more, or less. - The mercenary pathfinding is fucked. Not that it was great in the original, but here, they get stuck every few feet, it's ridiculous. - When stuck, the mercenary in the original Diablo 2 (henceforth OD2 for short), would reappear, if you moved too far away from them. In Diablo 2: Resurrected (henceforth D2R for short) maybe they will, but most likely not. - The only way out of it is enter a dungeon, port back in town etc. They won't respawn next to you, otherwise. - In fact, you can go back and search for them, in the spot you might have lost them and they will be gone from there, too. - Other than that, the mercenary works great. When they feel like it. A lot of the time, the mercenary would just stand there, idling, while I was getting attacked. Would not engage enemies on their own. Other times, they would move away, chasing something, somewhere, you'd have no idea where and disappear. Then they might reappear next to you, or not. Toss of a coin, that one. - Shift+click doesn't work. I mean, it does, but unreliably so. Holding down shift in OD2 is a great way to keep your character from moving, while trying to hit enemies, either at a distance, with your bow, or in melee, when they surround you, without having your character trying to move around all the time. Here, if you hold down left click, while pressing shift, you character will make a few hits, usually, then just stop, either when the target is lost, or dies, regardless if you actually targeted something, or not, making your character stand on idle and just take hits. - Connection problems. There is a lot of rubberbanding going on. Especially in dungeons, on boss fights. A problem regardless of OD2 and D2R, since it could happen on any multiplayer game. However, the frequency and frustration it caused, I have not seen since I played a 500 people raid on Lineage 2, on my 56k connection, almost 20 years ago. Bless Unleashed, which I have been playing, on a nearly packed server, is smoother than this. Diablo 3, which I am also playing, is smoother than this. Granted, I do expect D2R to have more people playing right now, because of the open beta, but this isn't something I've experience on any other online beta, in a long while. And I do understand "lawl Battlefield betas are worse" arguments, but the point isn't to be a terrible service, during the beta. At least make it playable. I am also playing through Ethernet, not WI-FI.
Closing thoughts: Don't buy it at launch. The game is at least 6 months away, after launch, to be in a playable state, let alone a good state. While I wish I could say I have nothing against Blizzard, because there are multiple reasons to have something against Blizzard, I also can't say that this has factored in to my opinion of the game, in its current state, in any way. I do believe the game will sell well, I do believe it will get support and patches and I do believe it will get fixed. But not at launch and in that state, I can't suggest anyone they spend their ... how much does it cost? $40? This is a $25 title, in its current state. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Specs: CPU: Ryzen 9 5900X GPU: RX 6800 XT XFX SPEEDSTER MERC 319 RAM: F4-3800C14D-16GTZN x2 (32GB RAM TOTAL) MOTHERBOARD: ASUS ROG CROSSHAIR VIII DARK HERO X570 PSU: ROG THOR 850W PLATINUM GPU DRIVER: v21.6.1 OS: WINDOWS 10 PRO v21H1 INTERNET CONNECTION: 50MBps FTTx

Had to put FC New Dawn to pause because I started getting bored. Oh, I have Rage 2 icon on my desktop, well lets try that then.
Hahah, a bit like more of the same eh, but with Mad Max engine. The game was originally to be Mad Max 2 but it was moved to be Rage 2 as far as I remember. Plays just like Mad Max but unfortunately uses 1st person camera. I have used the car cannons more because of this as I do not much enjoy 1st person cameras anymore. Putting FOV to 88 and using 2560x960 resolution I made in nVidia control panel helped a lot too.
Game seems to be fun but is veering to the harder side fast even on normal when multiple enemies rush on you. I wish I had a shotgun... though melee is really really powerful here. Lets see when I get bored to this, I'll change back to FC:ND.
On PS5 I continued Uncharted 4 and its quite marvelous.

Vassalising the, the, I don't even know - the black guys in Humankind. I bet they already switched culture since, just like I did. Humankind's defining feature is that as you progress the eras you pick another culture and add its perks and benefits to your "playthrough". Which is a nice idea but don't ask me who my neighbours are and the English lady (first contact) is now indian native.
