Decided to finally attempt the speed run in Stray. Made it through the first 4 chapters in 39 minutes (about 10 behind where I need to be, I think). The goal is to finish the game in 2 hours or less. Too much running around lost in Ch. 4.
First time replaying Ch 1 so I took a couple more pics
Sleeping at home
Family left behind after falling through the wall
Am also downloading Jedi: Fallen Order. To do this I had to finally open Origin again, and of course EA App decided to possess it and take over. Ah well, better to get it over with now instead of when I really really want to play something (like whenever DA:D comes out).
Does anyone know - will games installed in Origin Games folder still run properly?
It shouldn't matter where games are installed. I have Origin games (I kept the Origin launcher) at 2 different disks. The app just need to know the path to the installation folder. When you "upgrade" (more like downgrade) to the EA App, it automatically gets the info where the games are and works with it.

When you "upgrade" (more like downgrade) to the EA App, it automatically gets the info where the games are and works with it. Yea hwi thSteam I hav e2 different areas I've set up for installin games one is my SSD for more recen tmoe rdemandin ggames like Midnight Suns and Horizon Zero Dawn as the may need an extra oomph an dthen a second on the moe rconcventional HDD for m yolder games from like PS3 era backwards such a sFinal Fantasy 13 or F1 2010 o rsomething should I need it which may no tneed the speed and suc htha tth eSSD provides. All I do is pick which one I want Steam to put the game in. So far Steam has been good at doing that so I have no complaints. I think i is getting necessary now given how big games ae rgetting given games ae rapproachin g100 gb in size and in some cases even more. After all Forspoken is 120 gb probably will b eapproaching 150 once the DLC is out nex tmonth. I know Hogwarts is aroun d70 gb Midnight Suns is aroun 60 but I'm no tsuer i tha tincludes the DLC or not. I als oknow that the Forza Horizon gasmes are around 100gb as well. So it's helpful to be able to pick and choose where you put them. Talking of installing I did manage to preload the golf game yesterday. Looking forward t ortying i tou tas I thin ki tunlocks tomorrow as I go tthe drelux edition as i tgives m e3 days early access. I didn't really byu it for the 3 days acces I bouh tit for th eextra gea rfor career mod ereally a sthere's a few extra options with regards clubs and bags tha tcome with the deluxe edition as well. It's for those items and such I bought it. I'll probabl ywi l lwai tfor the first proper patc hbefore I start playing proper because the 3 click system isn't in the game a tlaunch bu tapparently they'll be adding it in one of the first patches. I probabl ywil lboot it up tomorrow if only to look a tht echaracter creator though and at least determine a look for my first golfer on it.

Same here. When I finally bit a bullet and upgraded, EA App didn't automatically pick up the right path. Didn't matter much in grand scheme of things, since the app didn't last even a day on my PC because I got so fed up with it

Panorama demo
I was distracted by this Indie game. It's a cross between puzzle, land building and somewhat tetris like, without any timer. The player is given random tiles of different landscape to put together. The more points the player gets, the better. Once a certain target is met, the player is given a choice of three building cards of different variety of buildings; fisherman's hit. mine, farmer, etc.
This is a very light game, doesn't need much and doesn't take much HD space. Suitable if you want something to while the time, putting land puzzle tiles together and see what kind of landscape you end up with.

Hogwarts LegacyWherever do I begin with this massive play session? I think this is my first marathon session of this game and I think I got a fair bit done. One of the things I have been low key loving about this game is not only the combat in general (actually sometimes it is hard to talk about a game when you have to tipe toe around the spoilers so naturally everything becomes 'the combat' it seems) but I am loving the combat and dialgoue barks in this came for the most part. THey can be a bit repetitive sometimes but it is so endearing and so relatable and really helps me get into the character's headspace to have Honor go "That battle was over none to soon *shivers*" Or when taking down a Troll "I bet they felt that all the way in London" Or the very cute (even though she has been doing this a lot of times in the last 100 hours) "I can't believe I just took down an Ashwinder by myself" And the glee in her voice is priceless there. This even applies to puzzles. Granted I am still getting stuck and looking up solutions for them but I kind of feel the puzzles are the easiest in this game then any other, in small part because Honor actually talks through them. Going to be curious though since I plan on having my next character be such an unfeeling terminator so...may have to plan accordingly. Still trying to balance out the things I want to do and the things I don't want to do for the side content. I think I am close enough to doing the Merlin's trials and getting into an alright rythm with them, kind of, that I am going to power through them. But at this point, don't seem to be a lot of need to do the treassure vaults. Again given the gear system they just don't seem to offer anything that unique. Probably ditto for the astronomy tables as much as I *like* doing them. And well I knew it had to happen eventually... The Second TrialThis was a bit of a wild trip. My play session actually STARTED at Rookwood castle today and about like the second time I've been there maybe? And this is one area I thought could be involved in a main story mission but I had dismissed it because it didn't pop up...BUT THEN. Should've known. *sigh*.
Again more crazy puzzles in this game involving using the arches to get stuff into position and get stuff through them plus blasting things that can now rotate said arches.
But the big thing is more expansion on the whole issue with Morganach, the dangers of the ancient magic, and more context on that. Today's memory features the rest of the Keepers, I think, visiting Morganach, she brings out her father and 'takes away his pain.'
Which as I pointed out in one of my recent posts I can understand the impulse to do so. But this is a little different since while there is sympathy and trying to cure someone of a curse/ disease is important but pain is also quite an important part of life as well and learning from it, so fully taking away someone's pain may not be a good thing. Like taking away someone's memory of getting burned by a hot stove, they could get burned by a hot stove. Also Percivel's idea that they did not understand this magic and this was new even for them, like before we saw them healing a town of a drought so that could make them look hypocrital...but they are right in the assumption that we shouldn't just use this kind of magic, or technology, for really any purpose willy nilly without understanding the effects of it. The Plight of the House ElfSo bit of an uncomfortable topic for me given erm, previous and evolving beliefs on the issue, but this quest is kind of an interesting one and really drives home the...plight of the House Elf.
So Slavery! In fiction and in real life there is kind of the idea of, well to be blunt, 'good masters', and slaves who enjoy serving them and slaves enjoying serving them so much they wouldn't know what to do with themselves afterwards. The argument would be does someone have the right to voluntarily sell themselves into full slavery (note still different then indentured servitude) if they legitimatley wanted to and lets just say if other laws applied to the situation? Now while I'll still have to absorb the new information my previous argument was yes, though it was more out of fascination and theory, the limits of freedom lets say and then on the flip side how much freedom should we extend to someone?
I forget exactly what the first thing I was exposed to that made me reconsider this position but this is the second one. And not only does it show just how depraved the situation of the House Elf is in Harry Potter but it shows the weakness of the argument. Because, at least in this specific case, even if a slave likes their servitude it is still an inherently abusive relationship. It is still an inherent power dynamic where one person has all the power and the other has none of the rights. Which is dangerous.
Case a point a House Elf goes into a cave full of spiders, dies, and writes a note to his master appologizing for his failure and tells him to watch out for the spiders. Granted I think there is some magic involved in this relationship and why they like it so much, like the binding thing, but...yeah. I don't think there is any more that needs to be said.

So I'm supposed to reach the target of 16 structures before the tiles ran out. I didn't meet it since I've only six structures up. They're fisherman's hut, clock tower, cafe, barn, windmill and dingy.

SWTOR
My consular made landfall on Tatooine, unlike many players I actually like this planet. Although, the Republic planet questline is so boring.
Before going there, I checked a few more public listed strongholds to see which one I would prefer to buy. I think I'm down between Tatooine and Yavin 4. I technically have enough credits and "stronghold space" to buy both. I just don't have that much deco item or time to decorate both.

I do dislike what I would call 'quiet periods' - nothing really until month end. Just polished off a replay of Jedi Fallen Order which is shorter than I remember. (good, but short) I could... - Replay Bioshock trilogy, though the downbeat ending never sat well with me.
- Try Mankind Divided (again), a game that never clicked for me.
- There's Gears 5 which lost me, maybe I should try again.
- I abandoned Hellblade an hour in, perhaps that's worth another go.
- Didn't get very far with the Guardians of the Galaxy game, I could try that once more.
- Or either an Assassin's Creed or a Watch Dogs game, but I know those so well...
- I'd play Fallout 4 yet again, but I'm waiting for the Next-Gen update.
First world problems...

SWTOR I'm nearly back where I left off, just need two planets more (Balmorra and Quesh) Have to say, it didn't take nearly as long as I thought it would (probably because I also finally got a hang of how to use two combat styles, Sentinel and Shadow)

So I have finally ported my Commander from PS to PC on Elite Dangerous Only to realise that I have stuffed up my PC account which I already had before this - apparently I set up my account with my other email (stupid brain) so now I need to fork out some extra cash for the dlc upgrade...again . Anyway, I guess that is that, but I also rolled myself as well in the fact I spent quite a bit of credits on getting my fleet shipped over to a specific station in anticipation of the move...only to have the entire fleet moved to a different location...and I had to cash out again for that lol. All those mini disasters aside, I popped over in my aspx to collect some upgrade materials...only to find jack of anything where I landed. Mixed in with having to wrangle a different flight stick from what I was used to...it's been...fun

I don't know that I'd go quite that far but I enjoyed it a hell of a lot. Even more the second time, which is weird, given I thought "this is great, but I'll probably never play it again" after finishing my first run. There is no branching narrative, but there are choices which provide flavour to the various chapters and the ending overall. Story is great. Voice and digital acting is superb. Cinematic game story telling of the highest order, in my opinion. The combat is good, but it takes a bit to work out that the other Guardians aren't actually doing much beyond when you use their special abilities. In short; from that list, SJ - play Guardians of the Galaxy. I un-ironically flarkin' love that game.

Like a Dragon: Ishin! More like a dragon Fishin! Because I did a lot of that. Also gotten kinda hooked on it. My interest wasn't really biting at first but now the game has reeled me in. Kinda struggling to get out of the net. Guess the game picked the right lure for me. Also been gambling a lot. Koi koi is so much fun. So is Mahjong but it makes me so freaking moody it kinda scares me. Rest is so so. The substories are a treat as usual. From veggie obsessed people to lucky cats to cut throat courier action. Main story is also getting good too. Kinda weird seeing so many people just being straight out murdered. Granted Ryoma is using rubber swords but the rest is really freaking brutal. And I'm here for it. Also makes thing so much more tense because the game is just straight out killing every one. Loving the slice of life scenes with Haruka. She also needed that sort of bonding in the other games ♡ And the cooking is fun too.

At this rate all future Bioware games will be half done and modders need to rescue it for free.

AC Odyssey
I'm down to two achievements and one of them is to kill the Makedonian Lion. He's supposed to be on Mt Athos. I went there, no lion. I tried meditating to change the time, no lion.
I read that he wanders so I went all over the length of the big islet, using eagle sight. No Lion.
So I did more searches and read that there's a similar /same lion in a cave on the other islets. Maybe he's there but I'll have to do this on another day. I did a verify files to be sure there isn't any glitch as the game tend not to sync saves nowadays with Ubisoft. I'm pretty sure Steam backup the saves.

Hogwarts LegacyStarting to get that indigestion feeling with this game as there is now a lot to do. This game just keeps on opening up and I am like 'I should be doing this, and this, oh yes and there is also this.' In the Shadow of the StudyThe thought hit me today when doing this quest is that this game has a really weird twist on the whole Golden Trio thing from the actual mainline HP series. So Ron, Harry, and Hermione is replaced by Honor is obviously the Hermione of the group...overly smart Ravenclaw there that also has a knack for magic in general. But then that leads to who is the Harry Potter and the Ron Weasely of the group? I think Ominis fits a lot of the Potter bill given his family background, his demeanor, and his parseltongue so he fits...but he is not as brave as Harry. Meanwhile Sebastian is definitley the Ron of the group because of the awkward humor and poor life decisions.
Speaking of...
So there is a lot of horror that happens in here and it is probably one of the best constructed quests in the game. The setup is we are looking for Salazar Slytherine's Scriptorum and Ominis's aunt was out there looking for it as well and she got lost and was never seen for it.
Actually it is very, very, very curious way of going about things because her whole perspective is that Slytherine's legacy was getting twisted and misused which is such a fascinating concept because it happens all the time. Personal individualism and just looking at heroes from the past it is so easy to romanticize them or villanize someone thousands of years ago for greater or evil purposes. This is such a fascinating idea to explore because we know in this case the Gaunt's were bang on about Salazar's motives and his blood purity and his takes on the dark side. So its really tragic and one of the few examples, that I can think of right now, of this idea being played like this the idea of 'no he couldn't have been that bad...'
And he was that bad.
And the Scriptorum down there is horrible. Actually had it in the back of my head that this would've been in the Chamber of Secrets somehow. But yeah. He had snake traps down there where you would have to solve a combination or a snake would bite you...and a door where you only could open it was to use Crucio on the other person in the room which would open the door.
Wifey wanted Honor to learn it and so far probably the best RP choice in the game because, once again, the implications of this are just so horrifying and it is set up with that level of gravitas. So Honor is like, yeah lets learn it, but you're going to cast it on me. Think if she were going to learn it that would be how she would do it...which would probably quickly put her off the idea of using it. Kind of a shame though because I don't think the voice actress did a good job of selling the horror of being tortured by Crucio and given how its been presented but nice touch on the health being almost gone.
All this and the Scriptorum isn't that impressive. Ominis makes us all swear to not use dark magic but Sebastian finds a book and not the Chamber but we get another huge reference to it. But yeah, ultimatley one of the best side quests of the game so far. Fire and ViceGame of Thrones reference is obvious. And it involves a dragon.
Quite an interesting quest in its own way but...this is a main quest...but feels a bit smaller then the other. Poppy enlists our efforts to continue to investigate the poachers which sends us to a fighting ring for lack of a better term and an interaction with a Centaur.
More of an interesting quest given the heavy emphasis on stealth because there is certainly a lot of them and Poppy points out you can't be seen, so more interesting from character and gameplay implications then story ones. Ghost Recon BreakpointGot into a couple of really epic fire fights today. So after finishing up our task to get the Japanese guy, went to go after Ballard's cure and finish up that arc. And that faction mission eventually led us to a supply depot where it turned out there was also one of the daily elite faction missions was also running. With four signal callers none the same. And we got three of them but the fourth one ruined us. But yeah the plan was to basically divide our forces and I would sneak up and disable their crap and wifey would stay behind and snipe. Got the mortar no problem, got the turret and...well was eventually caught. A helicopter was there and a whole lot of badguys. So it was kind of an interesting situation because we were isolated from one another but also had a position to sort of support each other. So we were doing this elite faction mission with lots of bad guys and just sort of trying to shoot at the guys going after the other one of us and calling out our positions as they were advancing. 'wait someone's coming, gotta go.' sort of a deal. Got the P-90 recently which does have that sweet ROF so anyone coming after me just got shredded. Eventually was able to fight my way back to her position and then we went to secure the rest of the base as a unit and found Ballard... And my wife imitated her Far Cry experience and the guy she interrogated, so she just drag him through the map, then put him in the helicopter with us as we evaced the area. And well we had to go intercept a convoy, and wifey restowed the officer in the helo so we took him to our heist. Which was massive fire fight number 2 of the thing. Just waves of cars and even a gun ship showed up as soon as I picked up the cure. I went down but wifey got me and we were able to fight our way out of it.

In short; from that list, SJ - play Guardians of the Galaxy. I un-ironically flarkin' love that game. In that case (checks notes) 'Gardeners of the Galaxy' it is. I'm past the point I gave up the first time and the past annoyance over scanning is subsiding as the plot engages.
