Been playing Forspoken an dyea hI can see why some are havin gissues wit hit. Personally I a menjoying it. Granted it's not a grea tgame an dwon' tb ewinning an yGOTY awards but it is an OK game. I d okind of feel a little sorry for the devs though considering what's happened because on the surface when it was first revealed it looked a promising game. Currentl yin Chapter 5 as I've just got in Tanta Sila's castle so my guess is I'm going to be fighting her soon. It's jus ta game tha tlargel yhas been given the MEA treatment. I think most around here can guess as to what I mean by that. It definitely has design issues - and even a few implementation ones - but only one of the professional reviews I read mentioned them. And precisely zero of the Steam user reviews did. The negative Steam reviews all centred around the ‘cringe’ - meaning, they saw a bandwagon and jumped. And when they didn’t mention the cringe, they spoke about the price. If $70USD is too much, then $60USD is too much. Wait for a sale. And finally, there were the reviews where they don’t even try to hide the real issue…when the review starts with ‘Forwoken’, or ‘Wokespoken’ you know there is nothing but bad faith contained within. But there are real issues with the game. There appear to be 3 ‘levels’ of cutscene. The highest is great, but the other two look like they could have been ripped from the original KOTOR in 2003. Stealth missions…? No. The optimisation is - as has been discussed a lot - virtually nonexistent. The way new magic is unlocked means you’re almost done with the story before you have any real variety in possible strategies, and one of the best spells isn’t actually available until completion of the story. It isn’t Game of the Year, nor should it be. But it definitely holds fun for those who are willing to see it, and definitely deserved better than what it got. I might even buy the DLC when it releases, but that isn’t certain, yet. For what it is worth; the story gets a lot better - in my view - in the second half (which you’re about to be in). A lot of pieces begin falling in to place.

I was thinking of playing this one too....about how long is it, assuming I don't have to redo entire chapters of combat encounters ad infinitum 'cause I suck at it?
Bold of you to assume I have any experience with not having to redo entire sections because of persistent and embarrassing rates of death. Well, if you play on the easiest setting (and don’t die much) I would have thought about the 30 hour mark…. It really is hard to judge, though. Even if combat is a foregone conclusion, you’ll still have to figure out the holo map and contend with the Ice Slides of Death. I am in my 2nd run and making quick progress (because I have experience with the combat and can remember a lot of the paths through the areas). I am at around 65 hours total, and started this run at about 56 hours. So yes, 56 hours for the first run, buuuuuuut….I stubbornly stuck with a higher combat difficulty level than I was really suited for. I died a lot. It’s a good game, though. And I am definitely going to grab Survivor in the first week of release (subject to no news of ‘unplayable on PC’ etc). Yeah was planning on picking up Last of us 1 on PC fo rm ybirthday but afte rhearing i tbeing a bugg ymess and th efact tha tStar Trek Resurgence may be releasing then. I'm thinkin go fholdin off fo rnow. I may pick it up a tsome point over the summer i fthings look better for it then but I'm thinkin gof picking up Resurgence instead t ogo wit hUncharted. Tha tma ydepend on the situation when we get t oMay though

Well, if you play on the easiest setting
Definitely a given
Definitely NOT a given
I liked being able to turn combat over to the AI in Star Control Origins and just sit back and watch ships explode, but man was the computer dumb on occasion! Way faster than me, but still dumb sometimes.

Unfortunately, there is no AI/auto resolve for combat, sorry. But at the lowest level Cal will hit harder, have more time for dodges/parries and take less damage. As a story experience, it is very good, I thought. Some great characters and set pieces with impressive visuals. You don’t need to love Star Wars, although I imagine it helps.

Some non-spoiler advice - each new school of magic provides new traversal spells, but you can also get boosts to traversal from the Founts of Power, which are dotted around Athia. Since you’ve taken down Sila, I’d encourage a bit of exploration at this point, to see if you can grab a few of them. They can definitely make a difference to Frey’s ability to get around.

Bu tthe nthe yae robligaated to as it wa sadvertised that it would get at least 1 DLC asnd that DLC would be par tof the Delux eeditoin package for anyone who bought that version. Don' tknow ho bi gthe DLC is but given Forspoken is 120gb already it is going to make Forspoken take up a lot of disc space

Decided to finally attempt the speed run in Stray. Made it through the first 4 chapters in 39 minutes (about 10 behind where I need to be, I think). The goal is to finish the game in 2 hours or less. Too much running around lost in Ch. 4.
First time replaying Ch 1 so I took a couple more pics

Am also downloading Jedi: Fallen Order. To do this I had to finally open Origin again, and of course EA App decided to possess it and take over. Ah well, better to get it over with now instead of when I really really want to play something (like whenever DA:D comes out).
Does anyone know - will games installed in Origin Games folder still run properly?

Definitely NOT a given There are permanent health upgrades scattered around each map that help a lot, I suppose if you wanted you could look up there location before hand so you don't miss them. I replayed Fallen Order a bit ago, I think I missed a few upgrades and was having some real trouble against Ninth Sister, and then once I finally figured out that you are was supposed to use force pull when she charges I ended up having a lot of fun. Haha. I probably enjoyed that boss fight the most. As for me I haven't gamed much over the past month, once I finished FES I thought I'd go back to my P4G playthrough I abandoned, but that didn't last very long. I ended up installing a Windows 95 virtual machine so I could play an old hockey game, NHL Powerplay 96. Its a 2D game, it was pretty much the first game I owned, for sure the first PC game. Lots of memories playing it. Luckily the game isn't too difficult as the keyboard controls aren't the greatest, I did try to get an Xbox controller working but without much luck, I did wonder if a wired controller would work better, but in the end I really didn't care that much. I've been followed the P5X beta, which is a Chinese developed Persona 5 mobile gacha game. I doubt it will ever be released in the west, but I'd check it out if it ever does, even though it seems like a Frankenstein monster version of P5. So anyway, yeah I stared playing Persona 5 again. Haha. Listening to the Japanese audio for now, so far Ryuji is the biggest shocker in terms of a English/Japanese comparison. Its fun, he feels like a completely different person even though the dialogue is ostensibly the same.

The games should run properly the issue I had and some others have mentioned is problems with saves, especially older ones. That is why I started playing DAO and DA2 again to recreate characters that had problems. I also had problems with where the EA App thought the saves files were for the DA games I think so check the "target" path in Properties if you have a problem. If you use Frosty Mod manager you will need to change at least one setting in it to tell it to use the EA App.

I know from browsing that ME3MPers really, really don’t like it. I only do SP games, though, and I’ve had no problems playing them, but like dazk said, save games can be an issue. I ended up restarting an MEA run because I was not advancing the plot from a save started in 2018… So if you’re starting a new run of a game, you should be good. If you are picking up mid way through a run, whether the game was already installed on Origin or not…be wary.

SWTOR
Completed all tasks for the Order of Revan. Chose to hide the master's identity since my Sith agrees with her teachings.. My favorite Star Wars game is KOTOR 2 and I always somewhat agreed with Kreia's teachings. She neither believed in the Light or Dark but in between. My Sith completed all the tasks in the Dark Temple. For example he spared the slave who enslaved the other slaves. Although neutral my Sith is still a Sith. Sealed the tombs of the deceased Dark Lords decided to destroy the hplocron. Although my Sith is neutral, like Kreia he believes only through conflict does one gain strength, and if the teachings of the Jedi were to spread among the Sith it would weaken them. Completed all of the tasks for Darth Baras. Helped him get the information out of his prisoner. Took off the shock collar of off Vette, and told her she is not my slave but she is to help on my Sith's journey. I like Vette since she's voiced by the same VA who did Mission Vao in KOTOR 1, and Mission was one of my favorite companions. She felt like a kid sister to the main character of that game.

Nier Automata Has been put on ice. Mostly because I felt like I was being unfair to it by finding it boring, but it was boring since I tried to quell my murderous urges and not attack anyone unless they attacked me first. Which left me like 5 levels below the next boss and 10 levels lower than the sidequests after that. And the only way I could grind was to harass the desert people whose cries of attack are "Scared, scared, scared" and "Why?!" and "Go away " . And it was just weird. So probably going to restart and kill everyone indiscriminately. Except. The bloody carnival. They are so freaking cute. Could put some XP amps on I guess but my levels and I need to kill them to add to my murderbook. But the party tank only crime is littering with copious amount of confetti. But then again Replicant is really, really coloring my views . So guess the game is making me suffer, just not how I expected it. Yakuza Like an Ishin! Restarted my run, having a blast flickering around like a gun wielding butterfly. The faces don't bother me as much, but figure I'll get some whiplash when I go past the bit where I stopped last. If Kuze ends up being my father then....I would be kinda cool actually. Saints Row 2022 Been playing it with a friend and it's been a blast. Did the Dustmoot yesterday and the crown scene is even better with a pair of mismatched goggle eye glasses.

Hogwarts LegacyI was musing for a bit on just how stable this game has been treating me in terms of bugs and stuff. This was going on I guess while there was a potential bug in the works...which I then ran into one of the more bizarre bugs I have experienced. All of my collections and their status reset. As far as I could tell not the collections themselves, IE I still actually have them and they are acknowledged them as being done for the quests/ challenges just in the world map everything I have done reads as 'zero' and I am quite sure all the markers for the things I have done has reappeared. So there is that to worry about but I think things may've stabilized towards the end of my play session, we'll see. Not a major bug yet but it does have the potential to get very...old. So I have resolved to do main questing into I get the last two, as far as I know, spells for the list, Bombarda and Transformation...don't know if I will continue on with it tommorow or not, may just do random exploration and sweep through...well just do busy work with what may be an extended play session. With that in mind though... First off did Astronomy class. And got introduced to another new gameplay feature. Again not sure how many I will do with them since the rewards for the challenge just seems to be cosmetic related but on the other hand this seems to be a more interesting/fun version of the Astarium puzzles in Inquisition. Which I never did but this one might have some appeal for pure dumb figuring things out. If that makes sense. The High KeepMore of a puzzle focussed quest then anything but I went through and did it. I do actually like the whole game hints thing which comes with the PS5, starting to use it more. But yeah, fun little moments here and there.
Combat wise there was one fun sequence where I went disillusioned but then it seemed a Loyalist was supposed to pop down for a cinematic event but I was hidden. They were about to detect me but I was able to get around them and Petrificus Totalis them. Then did the same to two of the other guards at the same time. Later on I knocked another guy off a ledge with the one two accio, depulso mix. Combat in this game is so perfect.
Later on probably the second most impressive sequence in the game, saved Highwing and a friend hipogrif from him and the poachers were sending up spells after us, including Avada Kedevra! But they missed. And then we flew away with the sun coming up and, strangely enough maybe but it does answer a sort of question I was having, the Hogwarts Express. The Man Behind the MoonsSo we found out who was leaving the moons for Moon. A student he harrassed back in the day.
Kind of the classic bully situation though where the 'bully' thought it was all in good fun and the guy getting bullied didn't appreciate it but probably never confronted him, I do wonder if there would be a follow up. Still some actual good flavor RP with all of this to which I am getting more comfortable and more impressed with as I play. Though that is probably my own lack of faith in the industry and low standards and expectations at this point.
Still I got a good laugh when Moon was like 'now that i know it was old pig tails they don't seem so threatening'. *cackles* Plight of the House ElfDidn't do much with the quest yet but got a surprise so just in case spoiling it.
But it was kind of fun that the RoR just added a new room right in the middle of a conversation. Now I have a place for my flying beasts I guess? I must say to I didn't think I would 'like' the beast mechanic too much in this game and, again, one of those things that I'm not sure how much I'll use because of the game's stupid gear mechanic but the actual vivarium's are gorgeous. I imagine if Honor does have free time that she'd spend a lot of it there studying. Speaking of which I figured out what bothers me about the gear mechanics in this game other then it being super repetitive, grindy, and no real purpose. A lot of RPGs these days basically has two tiers of gear, kind of, regular stuff you get through normal loot...the regular stuff. And then the more legendary specific cool stuff you get through specific things you do. AC OD you had a lot of armor dropping from a lot of people you defeated, and weapons, but you also had special chests. Vahalla though you just had the legendaries. In this game...they have made the legendaries purely cosmetic instead. While this is an interesting idea and do wonder if this isn't partially a solution, in the case of this game it really messes with things because that high level, special gear is what you want to invest your crafting materials in to craft unique gear that you can tailor to your play style. But since all the crafting stuff is pretty much locked to gear that you will upgrade, by neccessity too soon, it makes it really hard... at least for me...to want to risk actually crafting and customizing. Because that would involve some grinding in the Vivarium.

SWTORManaged to redo both Nar Shaddaa and Tatooine today on my Consular Just need to do Alderaan, complete Chapter 1 and then do the final two planets (Balmorra + Quesh) until I'm back up to speed concerning my YouTube playthrough
Edit: oh and, I made a different choice concerning the Ultimate Warriors quest on Tatooine, so I'm re-uploading one of my episodes to reflect that previously I had made the light-side choice in that quest...but decided to go dark-side this time around, and made the change to that video to reflect that. My character doesn't make a lot of dark-side choices...so far I've made 5 (and they're generally rather insignificant)

Sleeping at home
Family left behind after falling through the wall
Am also downloading Jedi: Fallen Order. To do this I had to finally open Origin again, and of course EA App decided to possess it and take over. Ah well, better to get it over with now instead of when I really really want to play something (like whenever DA:D comes out).
Does anyone know - will games installed in Origin Games folder still run properly?
EA has officially discontinued Origin so that is why it was automatically replaced now. I didn't have any issues with the change, but I didn't install the games in the default folders either, so I was able to fire up Andromeda and play without issues. It was the only game I have installed before the switch.

I didn't have any issues with the change, but I didn't install the games in the default folders either Same. I have all my games installed on D drive, not C drive where the apps are.
I was checking out some of the options earlier. It does appear that all the extra content for DA/DA2 and ME1-3 is available for download (already have DAI installed). I am tempted to play a quick run of ME3 without the Extended Cut just to remind myself how brutal that first time through the ending really was.

Unrelated to the EA App but just as a heads up when you play the AC Games they don't like being installed anywhere else but the default directory on the C:\ drive and you may have issues launching or other things especially if using Ubisoft Connect.

I don't think I am going to get the speed achievement, at least not on the first try. I have only 28 minutes remaining and the 2 longest (meaning, the most running around) chapters up next. Well, it won't break my heart to spend a bit more time with this cute lil kitty.

My savage raid prog in FFXIV continues. This weekend we downed the big tree in P7S for the second time, and it took as long as the first.Other than that, two weeks ago I started organising Extreme trial runs for some friends who were interested in trying them on-content, so we've had Mount Ordeals run tonight, and the fiery man refuses to keel over for the second week in a row. But the Flamespire Brand execution is getting cleaner and cleaner, and we're starting to make our way past sweeping immolation as well, so maybe next week? And here are some unrelated bun shots.

SWTOR
I'm done with Nar Shaddaa on my Consular (again, lol). I did a bit more of Coruscant on my Smuggler too, but I'm more into my Consular or more precisely playing Shadow Infiltrator...
I also went around my current strongholds to remove some of a my cool deco that I have very few off (like the trees, I had them inside buildings, lol). I just need to decide which of the other stronghold I'm buying. I like Tatooine because of the sand, somewhat oasis vibe and sunset. It feels calm and peaceful. Also, it has an underground garage for your spaceship. But Alderaan might fit better what I want to do, but it feels too big to me. Oh well, I'm not an in hurry to make a new stronghold and decorate it.
