NHL 23
Been awhile since I reported on one of these game sessions. But man it is actually getting kind of tempting to actually start playing it a bit more seriously and play a season. That and IRL things are making me kind of want to...not fully pause HL...but sort of take off the accelerator a little bit. But yeah right now after HL, unless a sale happens or other factors that I do not know, figuring I can either A. replay AC Vahalla for the second time. B. Play Jedi Fallen Order for the first time. C. run through an NHL 23 season with the Bruins. But yeah fiddled with the Avs roster to get a few more of this year's team onto last year's roster.
And well three games up today. Another wild one vs. the Capitals that despite an impressive defensive effort I won 6-4, but their 4 came on like 19 shots. Annoying. Most impressive goals on the game cycled the puck up to the d, Marchand, McCavoy, and then he shot it, save but it left the puck just sitting there which Debrusk skated in to get the goal. Bergeon scored on a nifty goal off the backhand pipe then Pasta on the PP which also just sat there. Worse goal I gave up was this little crap where I passed the puck with Swayman, though he didn't exactly stray far from the net...still right to the Capital guy and they took advantage of it. *sigh*.
Next game was something else though with Ulmark in net. 6-1. Pastrnak led the way with 4 goals and an assist contributing on five points in the game. Bergeron and Zacha picked up the other two goals. But just keeping in mind Pasta's tendencies, and not playing into them but keeping them in mind. First two goals were skating left to right from the left slide slot and then beating the goalie each time, second time actually triggered the 'Schnipe' zone ability for some reason but I will take it. Then his next two goals were the exact opposite, right to left and then on the backhand, which triggered his puck on a string goal ability. Zacha's was one of these things that it just sat in the left hand corner of the net.
So for the Avs...well I have a complicated opinion of their goalie last year with Darcy Keumper and well they got rid of him for a new goalie. And well their new goalie is 7 points less good overall in his stats so couldn't justify it. But I find funny that Keumper had an amazing game in net for me against the Flames, 24-26 saves in a 3-2 OT win. Just amazing game all around. Other storyline of the game though the other player I added from the RL roster, Lars Eller, took a hit from one of the Flames players which injured him...this led to Logan O'Connor on my end taking up a fight, which he won, and the Flames player got a game misconduct for his trouble. Didn't capitalize on the powerplay but Nathan McKinnon had to become the center for both the first and 4th lines as a result, at least until I fixed it, and as a result had 29 minutes of ice time...in a 60 minute game. Arturi Lekhonen got the scoring started with a little breakway in the second period but they answered immedietly after that. Their goalie was on utter fire making impressive save after impressive save on some real quality chances. Actually for the last two games my passing has been really good at times which is rare for me. But this led me to try a cycle play, up to the D men on the point, but saw Newhook just standing on the net point blank, I made the pass, Newhook put it on net, but their goalie made a jaw dropping save. All this was at least somewhat ironic too because McKinnon on the next shot just got lucky, to start the third, up through ccenter ice he shot the puck, the goalie made like 90 percent of a save, but it still got through. They tied it up with less then a minute left so to OT we went. Where Nathan McKinnon got a little backhand on net and just this half hearted shot, but again, somehow, it got through.
Ghost Recon Breakpoint
Got more time with the wife in, killing digital people. SOme fine sniper work tonight.
First off got a little lost because didn't read the directions properly or efficiently. But then still got to the Mechanical R&D center. I was trying to come up with this elaborate plan to deal with stuff but then wifey was like 'we're already in a good position lets just start something and wait for them to come to us.' So that is what we did.
Next place was 'Anchor Point Station' as we continued our hunt for Rosebud. When we were there I was getting all excited because it is rare that we can just sneak in to an area, just do the objective, and leave with the enemy being none the wiser. But the game insisted we continue in the area. Twice.

Guardians of the Galaxy was fun. Some chapters were a little bloated for me, but that aside there's was much to enjoy.
Two further thoughts. If the smart writing reflects strongly on Mary DeMarle, she's a fine asset for Mass Effect 5. The quarantine zone section failed to engage with me leaving me to drop the game first time. There must be more games that have a plodding(?) opening that detract from a fine game. Days Gone would be another example for me.

Last few days in FFXIV - So last two nights I was giving a friend crash course through Savage We didn't kill the carbuncle, but P6S was her first proper Savage kill without echo (i.e. before another raid tier releases and the last one is made easier). And I got my savage boots, so I'm now only chest piece and weapon away from my BiS. Even if we're like two months away from another tier. And I've made so many screenshots over the past couple of days. Edit: Oh yeah, for a couple of afternoons, I also made an Au Ra alt character, on a whim, just for fun. Mostly just did early MSQ and some side quests on her. whatever else they do with character creation in DAD, they should let me make my character this big and buff

Finished AC Syndicate Jack the Ripper DLC 100%. Interesting take on the events and some interesting new game mechanics. Overall Game isn't bad, just mediocre; assassination missions were interesting with unique opportunities, interesting historical figures were involved.

So...I was looking at some of the games installed on my pc, and thought to take a look at Neverwinter Nights 2 again Last time I played an Aasimar bard for my YouTube playthrough, so I was thinking of going opposite direction and play a tiefling this time around (plus I have a mod that adds some pretty cool faces for female Tieflings ) Also, tieflings at least get some in-game dialogues toward their race from various npc's, as opposed to Aasimar who don't get any at all However I can't decide on her skin tone, either red or blue, the rest of the tones in this game are human tones so that's a bit meh I also saw a mod the other day that'll allow me to put in a tail for her, so yay
Also trying to figure out a build for, but I'm terrible at builds (was thinking maybe rogue and then ease her into become an Arcane Trickster, but I dunno yet) Aaand...she'll need a name

Agree that some of the chapters were bloated and that the Quarantine Zone was not the attention grabber an opening should be. Another example of ‘bad starts to good/great games’ would be RDR2. Very, very slow opening with not much freedom, which stands in pretty stark contrast to how much freedom you have just a few short hours later.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Wrapped up the Dathomir tomb and grabbed the achievements for finding all BD-1’s stim packs and defeating the 4 mysterious creatures. Defeated Malachos, which was much easier than my first PT. Maybe I’m gittin’ gud. Grabbed the astrarium and went back to Bogano to retrieve the holocron. It didn’t go well. Made it to the Fortress Inquisitorius and made short work of the troopers and battle droids that were in the way. Made it to the final check point before the final confrontation (and The Cameo), but it was after midnight and I’m old, so saving that for tonight I think I’m giving up on the 100% ambitions. I enjoy the platforming, but only to a point, and some of the areas are one way only, which bugs me. Dathomir is my favourite planet for scenes and scenery that scream ‘ Star Wars.

For me as much as I love MEA, the beginning is great from the opening cinematics to the gameplay on Habitat 7 but then it dumps you on The Nexus and the game hit's a massive speed hump. I imagine that's where a lot of people dropped it as you go from excitement and Adrenaline to a very slow plod. Of course once you get The Tempest that jumps up again but I wonder if it would have worked better having you arrive on The Nexus first.

SWTORMy Consular has liberated Balmorra and put a new Righteous government in charge...after phasing out the Imperial one. I started to pick more DS options, it goes with the outfit you know. I'm not wearing white anymore. Oh and the Council wasn't too happy I told the companies on Balmorra they could make nastier weapons again. They were complaining the Jedi were stopping them from doing so. I'm not sure why the Council was that annoyed by it or how the Jedi could stop them before since the place wasn't a Republic world. It's not like the Jedi Council have to follow what I told the company representative. I did warn the guy I didn't have the Council power (the choice that make it so you don't allow the companies to make nastier weapons is a DS choice where you threaten the guy's familly, I took the neutral one in this case, I wasn't willing to be a thug for the greater good). Next: Quest, which means smelly toxic dump with ruling Hutts.

Currently playing Paradise Killer. Story is intriguing, if a bit of a horror-fest. Pretty sure the guy accused of murder didn't do it but the trick is to find out who did, and not be wrong. I haven't managed to talk to everyone yet so can't really say who is the most likely culprit. Not fond of the 2d character cutouts or limited, repeating spoken dialogue, but I intend to keep playing.

However I can't decide on her skin tone, either red or blue, the rest of the tones in this game are human tones so that's a bit meh I think red looks better

Time for some 'comfort gaming'. I never got the DLC achievements for Fallout 4 and I've played with mods so long that it'll be nice to play a vanilla game (with vanilla Nora). However, the Nuka World achievements mean raiding the Commonwealth, so I'm going to do that before meeting Preston, which means level 30 avoiding the main path, before doing anything else. I'll be playing broken 'off the rails' Nora for a while...

SWTORMy consular has finished Quesh...and she's now on her way to Hoth. Also, there is probably a spy on my ship. A spy!!! Gosh, Hoth is going to be boring...it's all white, full of pirates and not that many interesting quest. Also, freezing. I must not forget to switch to my winter gear, I made an outfit a super low level just for Hoth and Ilum.

My favorite's in the series are FO1, FO2, and FNV (I like FO3, but I've only played it once whereas the others I've played multiple times). But for the life of me I could not get into FO4. I made it as far as Fenway Park and met Nick Valentine and Piper. Oh and I met the companion from the Brotherhood of Steel (forgot his name). If I ever have the space on my HDD I may retry the game most likely no. Oh and the feral ghouls in this game creep me out. In the previous games they did not creep me out as much.

The biggest criticism I have leveled against Andromeda was that it should have been like Habitat 7 for rest of the open world parts of the game. It is open, but at the same time there is a constraint on what you can do and felt very similar to the approach of Dragon Age: Origins. Even if there were multiple drop points on each planet having some boundaries I think is needed especially when trying to lean so heavily on a story based approach for the game.

At this rate all future Bioware games will be half done and modders need to rescue it for free.
