SWTORMy Sith Warrior made it through war torn Balmorra. Fighting in droid factories, trenches and even some sort of jails. To kill a father and son. And a serene Jedi too, because she listened on the convo. You know what is stupid about Baras's plan, the Jedi should feel suspicious since it was a clean-up operation and things got squeaky clean. Also, I got a new companion and he's going to stick to the ship. I usually switch to Quinn post Balmorra, but I'm going to keep Vette this time. I find it hilarious that the Jedi in this part of the storyline (and another one in the Smuggler storyline) are these paragon of serenity/calm. As my SW said: that sound dull. Vette agreed. My Lightning Sorcerer build is taking shape too (level 38 now), things are getting less annoying to use. Also, it's great to clear heroics with. I hope the damage output doesn't fall off too much at higher levels. Next: Nar Shadda, for more squeaky clean operation. Who would have thought that the most important position under a Dark Council member was janitor?

Played a bit of Jedi Fallen Order. I hate when devs make PC games, then tell you, "Yeah, you really need to use a controller for this." How about no? So, got stuck in the prologue forced tutorial because target switching options weren't enabled. I bound the arrow keys and then it worked fine. Really, why couldn't they have done that by default? Such a simple thing is too much to ask? Bah.
The jumping/climbing mechanic is waaaay overused, just like HZD. Cal's running animation is atrocious but his hair looks great.
BD-1 is adorable. More cute droids, please.
Landed on the first planet, Bonaca? Got terribly turned around, learned how to wall run, and then finally made it to the vault. I'm very bad at navigating vertical areas and maps don't really help me; they just make it more confusing. I've spotted a couple of chests I have no idea how to access, which is very annoying and means I'll have to go back for them at some point.
I wasn't expecting Cal to already be a partially trained Jedi. Or maybe I just forgot that part since reading about the game when it first came out. I'll do some more exploring before heading back to the ship. Speaking of, Cere has the biggest bug eyes ever. Very distracting.

I bought this on sale after not being really impressed seeing my son playing, nothing I have read since has made me go "I am playing that next" your comments above are just reinforcing that.

Nothing spectacular in the chests. Most of them offer ponchos, ponchos, ponchos and more ponchos in various colours. The chests may or may not offer something besides ponchos. I can't remember. I was bored after chest #5 to find nothing of interest BD-1 and Carl doing the same animations and saying the same thing repeatedly. I wished it had been possible to send BD-1 to get it. Why does Carl have to do it and stand there while the robot pretends to rummage about? I ended up going; oh, another poncho after I see a chest. Not terribly interesting. Most of the time I can't be bothered to open it or even try to get to one that's hard to get to. What, you're going to make me work for a poncho, devs? No thanks. Agree on Cere's eyes. 😄 The most interesting part for me in this game is the lightsaber wielding and force powers. It picked up near the end when Carl has learned all he could, short lived as it is because it's ending. There are other highlights too, few as they are. The story for me is ok. The days when Star Wars game stories like KOTOR rivet players and have them do a double take are sadly done and over with.

Oh, the controller preferred message. Not going to lie, I briefly pondered refunding the game when I saw it. Glad I didn't, because I've enjoyed two full playthroughs of it, but it isn't a welcoming start for PC players. The chests have ponchos (quite a few - over 20), suits (5 or 6), skins for BD1 and the Mantis, materials and parts for the lightsaber and 10 have stim pack (healing potions). Here is Cere's voice and motion capture actress So her eyes are somewhat prominent, I guess. They do appear exaggerated in the game, though. I hate the map with the fire of a thousand suns.

NFS UnboundThat's an underwhelming NFS game. Looks decent, but that's about it. The story and characters are not terrible so far, but it seems to require far too much grind to make things moving. I am probably going to just cheat myself some cash and see how things play out faster. The game seems to suffer from some technical issues too. Everspace 2
Has a bit of the old Freelancer feel, so I keep going back to it from time to time and push a few missions further. The beginning of the game lures you in with story and cutscene heavy bits. But then all of a sudden it dries out and you are forced to run back and forth between star systems a bit too much. And the grind once again takes over. I guess I am not a young gamer anymore if that annoys me so much And the game is so weird with its technical weirdness. At some point it started forcing my GPU to draw over 400w, despite a nice undervolt that even in CP2077 with Path Tracing doesn't really go above 360w. And believe me, Everspace 2 doesn't look even remotely so good and doesn't seem to have anything happen that explains so much GPU power. But then I just turned on DLSS Quality and the game can't even get close to 200w anymore. So weird.
Jedi Fallen Order
On a whim (and too much NVMe SSD free space) I downloaded it back to get some practice before Survivor arrives on Friday. I guess I am rusty since I suck so much even at Normal (Jedi Knight) difficulty. For some reason I can't quite find a comfort zone with a controller, so I switched to M/KB and suddenly improved. It's so much easier to control the camera and direct the attacks. I finished the game on a controller twice before, so it's most likely a matter of lost practice.
The game looks so good on the junkyard planet. The detail pops up, the lighting, etc. And it's all so smooth (for the most part). That's the goodness of a new GPU and more frames. It was really nice walking around the beginning. But then we hit Bogano and everything drops hard. It's a boring place, but it also just doesn't look good in comparison. And the Depth of Field blurriness, ugh... It doesn't matter that I turned off Motion Blur in the Settings, it's still applied in movement (too lazy to force it off with file tweaks). The junkyard had so much atmosphere and it didn't annoy with forced blur. Probably because it received more design attention to the detail. I am really hoping Jedi Survivor doesn't make the same mistake and instead keeps all levels at the same great quality.
And I can now feel the game stutters even more. I suspect it's less severe if your FPS is lower and closer to 60ish. But when playing with 140 FPS you can really feel when you pass through an asset loading checkpoint. Really annoying.

Yea hth ecombat is fun I d ofind th ewall runnin gand climbing around a bit trick yand a bit OTT that's for me wh yI'v not beaten it really. It feels a bit like a half assed Tomb Raide rgame sometimes. Don' tget me wrong it's a good game there are just a fwe areas the ycould hav emanaged bette rI think. On one hand I wantto giv ehte gam eanothe rtr ybut on the other I think I'd have t ob ein the mood to do it. Right now I'm most in the mood for playing my sports and comfort games. But because I'm near the end on m yHogwarts run I'm focusing on that first. But once I'm done then yes it'll b emy sports an dcomfort games for the forseeable future. I may stop for Star Trek Resurgnce when it releases assuming it does release in May but other tha nthat it'll largely be comfort games. But yeah I don' tsee myself picking up Jed iSurvivo runtil I pick up the urge and somehow finish Fallen Order tbh. I like the stor ycomba tand graphics aer solid enough it's really all the platforming and wall running that's a bit of a turn off for me. Because wheneve rI feel I wantto pla yit I'm reminded it has all that. Which is tricky to do when you only hav 1 hand on the controls. I probably will try again I jus tdon't kno wwhen atm.

JFO is a lot more Tomb Raider (or Sand of Time) than HZD is, so expect a lot more jumping/climbing and even puzzles (some with jumping/climbing + timed lightsaber usage even). Some of the chests requires powers you haven't unlocked yet to reach them. You are basically supposed to do the other planets to get those abilities and come back to unlock more ponchos. 100% optional unless you are a manic completionist. And BD-1 is adorable.

Yeah HZD has amoer think you rwa ythrough the game qapproach t oi tthan JFO. JFO relies moe ron it's action pieces to see i tthrough it's story. HZD kind of has more of an MEA feel to it but better in that i tdoesn't feel like yo uhave t orus hthrrough it. Because there's only really 2 occasions whereyou have t oget your ass in gea rand mov efas tin the game. Th eReveng eof the Nora quest wher yo uhelp the Nora take out those responsible fo rattackin the Proving and thequest where you escape from the eclipse base after shuttin gdown their focus network. Which I believe is called into the Darkness. Othe rthan tha tyou're largely free to take as much time as you need to handle quests. I enjoy HZD much moer than I do Fallen order. It's just so much better in pretty much every way. To the point where I even consider it one of my comfort games as it' s one of the games I'm thinking of playing again soon. I don' tknow when yet as I want to play some other games firs tand ge t new careers underway on my gol fand snooker games.

Forget what they tell you, I think the game plays perfectly with M/KB. Played through it twice now, once on Jedi Master difficulty, with M/KB, no problem. I actually find it easier not to lock targets. That way, you are ittle more flexible, especially when fighting multiple opponents.
As for navigation ... well ... you better get used to it The maps in this game are basically huge mazes. BD-1's map does come in handy to track where you have been, where you still need to go and where you can go. It will show areas you cannot reach yet in red and those where you can use force powers to get there in green. Areas where you can simply walk into (or where you'll need to go next) are in gold. That's really useful. It also shows you for each area how much you've explored already and how many chests/secrets there are still to find. The secrets in particular are worth looking for because extra life/force power and especially extra stim packs make your life a lot easier. But if you can't find a way to get somewhere yet (or see red on the map), it may be that you'll have to come back later when you learned new abilities.
Have fun!

Umm....
I actually find it easier not to lock targets.
Yeah, I had targeting turned off but it was the tutorial so I was forced to use it in order to continue. I didn't see an option to skip/turn off the tutorial. Forcing them should be a no no.

I do like that about the map, where it tells you how many chests, or whatever, are in the area and how many you've found. Same with the codex entries.

Hogwarts LegacyBeen playing through a lot of this game over the past few days, maybe a little bit of a marathon. Basically dividing my time into a questing section and then an exploration section. On that note to its weird because it says that I have 7 more of the Ancient Hotspots to find. I have been all over the map and well, I cannot seem to find any more. Keep on going to random places and just going there. This will probably be mentioned later but I think this game could've really used that thing from Ubisoft titles where you can ask characters in the world where x is so you can at least get in the right direction. The main draw of course to some of this questing and some of this side questing was being able to use my gear and blast through things quickly. I do believe there was an dueling feat which required a battle to be completed in certain time, so threw everything down, and it worked, guzzle guzzle. Same with a boss troll that I ran into as a part of the quest to lift the curse on that tomb that turns feet into beets...started throwing down my potions but he went down quite easily. I think Honor is becoming quite a profecient duelist...sometimes at least. THough it did amuse me that there was this like super Devil's Snare that instantly killed me insantly...but then when Honor came back to report to the Quest Giver she was like 'yeeaahhhh there was this pesky troll, it was no problem'. A Basis for BlackmailNot much to do here really. Bit funny that Honor and Natty were going around basically quizzing people about finding evidence of Blackmail and they were all like 'yeah I'll tell you, I haven't told the authorities, but I'll tell you.' Also amusing that one of them involved a poem book and one of them involved a note that the clerk was keeping from the owner of the establishment because he was engaged to his daughter...secretly. And then after the quest was over got married to her...secretly.
My spidey senses tingled in one of two ways here, one has yet to be resolved. Yet in the first way did suspect the whole reason they divided the two of us in the first place was so Natty could be kidnapped and honestly...the girl isn't too bright about these things, perfect Gryfindor really...law. But yeah she got kidnapped and amusement continued because I think the quest WANTED you to stealth in and save her and then go out with your companion and dominate but my plans went awry because I was planning on fighting them all, but I was going to PT the boss...and well the boss caught me as I was about to do it so had to fight them all but Honor turned them into mince meat.
From there were informed Officer Singer about things and my senses again started to tingle...
And the follow up sub quick quest seems to have confirmed it. See there is this kind of reasonable two step that YA stuff does like this sometime where the adults are either corrupt or incompetent as all hell, if not down right evil, and the children have to save the day...and people wonder why I am the way I am...the kicker is that Officer Singer's/ Natty's mom is perfectly reasonable in their requests for Natty to stay safe, this is not a thing for children. Yet despite bringing Officer SInger oodles of evidence of Harlowe's crimes Harlow has only grown more powerful. So yeah, I am reasonably sure Officer SInger is on the take.
As bonus points though Natty is going through a small scale growth arc of her own. Her own frsutration at losing her father to bandits is a specter that is really hanging over her head as she tries to now deal with these...bandits? Anyways though we'll have to see where this goes but I do think there is a real chance for a need/ want development coming AND Natty may be becoming my favorite character given Seb's issues, more on that though... Nimah Fitzgerald's trialTHis has to be the best quest bit in the entire game...I was expecting it to be something and it went in a very different direction.
First treat Polyjuice potion into being Professor Black...which Figg just happened to have a supply on hand just in case...seriously what does that man teach?
Anyways this was quite hilarious. From trolling Black by having a student deliver him his Pestiule ointment, to trolling Ominis, to just yelling obsenties as students as I passed. Actually my low key favorite event in the entire thing was having Black decorate the entire Great Hall in the colors...of Ravenclaw. It would be funny if all this comes back to bite me later.
But then there was the bit with Professor Weasely. And as soon as I saw her I went 'uh oh' because if anyone could sus out a fake Black it would be her. (Honestly once again probably should've made more of an effort to visit the Professors and I know I will continue to try and do so). And it was a close thing I think given her reactions...but she passed it off as Black being really eccentric. The fun part was that the game does cannonically acknowledge Honor's/ the protagonist's activities and her going out of bounds and exploring and dealing with criminal syndicates. Sure the game treats it as 'rumor' but here we are.
The next bit of the quest line was again a treat, Nimah told us to find a book, telling us that these would be a familiar looking tale if you knew Wizard Fables...and off we went getting set into a book.
Here we were confronted with Death and various minions who skeletons with hoods. The first bit of fun here was that this whole area was terrifically visually designed, looking like an old style picture book and was just really well thought out in how it was presented.
The second part was it became quite clear quite quickly that we were dealing with the Deathly Hallows. Spent the least amount of time with the Invisibility Cloak, at least for my liking, and probably the most with the Elder Wand given that I had to blast through waves of enemies which become frustrating because while powerful had to start all the way at the beginning to deal with it. Though when we got to the Resurection Stone and Nimah pointed out that while it could bring back a shade, it could not really restore life.
This quest was really one of those perfect encapsulations of the themes of the game. While Isidora might be trying to conquer pain and not death it still more or less works. You can kind of stave it off, delay it, even defeat it in a way, but you can't stop it. Even with the combined power of the Hallows.
Which then the memory was Isidora trying to take Nimah's pain from her which left her disturbed.
Later on debriefed with the Keeper's and we met San Bakaar. He asked me about what I saw and it gave me the choice and since it was both these things I went 'it was fascinating' which it is, even if it is bad, a lot of implications here. But San Bakaar told me that it was disturbing that I seemed to be intrigued and repulsed and first of all frak him for his lack of understanding of nuance or me getting a chance to clarify and secondly I feel like a lot of the RP choices of this game is more a test...and Honor is failing. In the Shadow of the MountainPicking up where we left off with Sebastian and he started off by apologizing for me what is going on and what he said in there.
But at least in the first part of the quest was still activing very angsty and very domineering. Instead of any pretense for stealth he just waded into the Goblin camps. And he kept on pushing me and doubting my commitment to the cause of helping out his sister and everything else. Eventually he calmed down a little but the damage has been done and this is fascinating, if tragic, character dev.
On the one hand though this is now making his usual attempts at humor land a bit rougher. They no longer have an entirely easy going relationship but there is definite tension as Honor batted back some of his attempts at humor and vice versa. Still I'm comitted to their friendship and wonder if they can repair it at all before the end events of the game sweep them up or if Seb will continue to descend into madness in trying to get this power.
On the other hand though I do wonder if this is intentional brilliance on the writer's part, coincedental, or if I am entirely projecting, but it seems like Seb's descent into madness which is very overt might be hiding the protagonist's own descent into it. Some of Honor's dialogue sounded a bit interesting given recent revelations reacting to Seb, her insistance that she could go it alone, and some almost borderline cockiness of her own and dismisiveness...even of Seb's plight in a way. It'd be really fascinating if this dialogue changes depending on what you tell San Bakaar but I don't think the game is going to be that good/ bad since that sometimes annoys me but its a fascinating thought experiment.
Deeper into the cave we continued to dive into, what I realized, was the story as told from the perspective of Isidora. Which is another good thing the game does though I am not sure they are doing enough to sell it or bring enough balance. See I have a good idea of what happens during the ending and 'using' the power of the ancient magic to the protag's own ends, of course I do not know the exact ways or how it is presented yet, but the game is making it very clear that this is almost universally a bad thing or at least very uncomfortable. Granted her father did thank her for taking away the pain so there is that and who knows what will happen to maybe add an issue of 'yes you can use this power for good' sort of a thing and we just have to stop Ranrock from using it for bad but right now but the whole thing does come off as being very skeevy. Whether or not this is my own biases coloring my impressions as well as the narrative itself I am not entirely sure, but to put it bluntly and elementary pain may hurt...but it also can prevent your hand from getting burnt...or a way of remembering loved ones. And that maybe the best way to deal with it is to, well deal with it and not remove it.
The frustration continues and kind of some susness to because the Keeper's themselves apparently destroyed Isidora's portrait. So we can't quiz her on the information presented and get her further side of the story, whether she regretted, or whether she went full cocked and how that effected her. Will she look evil? Have glowing eyes? Will she look sinister and drunk on power? Oh I forgot that part of the off putting nature of this is that she could harness this 'pain' for her and the Keeper's own power, that the pain itself can be used to further the ancient magic. This itself could be evil because pain, while maybe important, also is a negative emotion and stuff powered by negative emotions is never a good thing. It describes it as being an almost drunk like effect.
Anyways though as Honor is piecing all this together and meanwhile Seb is again blasting her over not being committed enough. His emotions are indeed getting the better of him and well Honor assures him. Both of their character flaws are on full display here really, or at least potential flaws.
The interesting thing about this though is that despite my personal reservations Honor just might take in the power in the end which may be the 'bad' ending. Again will have to see how this all plays out but I have been starting to define her RP more and more and right now she is definitley having a 'drunk on power' air about her. Becoming more confident, more cocky, more self assured when talking about her exploits IE dealing with the troll was nothing. This was a scared and nervous girl at the start of term who has since been regularly dealing with spiders, trolls, bandits, goblins, poachers, and solving adult problems. While these were issues for her in the beginning but as she has grown in her power throughout the year...and grown more able to utilize the ancient magic...she has grown more powerful and, at least on this difficulty level, able to handle things almost as if it were second nature...unless I miss my button prompts. Given how she, a...what 16 year old?...has to solve these problems while the adults in her life are being either lazy, fearful, or corrupt, could leave her with quite the God complex like Isidora.
Whether or not she comes to her senses, as it were, or concludes that Isidora was right and the power could be used for good, or if she continues on a dangerous path, remains to be seen. Last but not least though Deek did put me onto the trail of a new magical creature that poachers were after. One of my favorites from fiction...which opened up another Vivarium/ \ \ A phoenix So yeah sometimes I spend way too much time on this I wonder, been at this post for an hour and a half *gulp*. Though I was jumping back through tabs and well I do wonder if people will even read all of it given its length, so sorry in advance, but I do have a lot of interesting thoughts on this game as you saw if you read it all.

Over the weekend, I completed the Horizon Forbidden West DLC, The Burning Shores. It was a good time. It was beautiful; had fun companions, new and old; and had some truly epic battles.
I acquired and have been upgrading a ton of new equipment. The components needed for upgrades are mercifully less demanding than those acquired in the main game.
I'll poke around a bit more before shutting it down for a real life move. Once we're settled into our new place, I feel a NG+ is in order.

Some of the chests requires powers you haven't unlocked yet to reach them. You are basically supposed to do the other planets to get those abilities and come back to unlock more ponchos. 100% optional unless you are a manic completionist. Now look I resemble that remark.

Guild Wars 2
I advanced the story of LWS 2 ab bit more with my ranger. I did take a break from that when playing Hogwarts Legacy, but now I'm back on track. I talked to the slightly mad dwarf in the library again, then had to find a book and some artifacts and then follow a ghost around , who needed my help and would in return give me something to open a cave, I have to go in.
After that I did Tequatl with our fun group and my Harbinger and the dailies and then Leyline with my mechanist.

Assassin's Creed the first oneFinished it fifteen years ago on this date. It was Orthodox Good Friday, which fits well with narrative of the game. Replayed memory blocks many times through the years, but never started new game from scratch until now when I decided to do my 15 years anniversary run and finished it today. Damn its still good game, anyone who says that this game didn't aged well, that it is clunky and repetitive is so wrong; it is still the best Assassin's Creed game of them all. Entering Jerusalem King Richard doesn't care about dead Robert de Sablé Recorded whole playthrough, but didn't had the time to upload it. Will share whole playlist when I find the time to categorize and upload everything.

Guid Wars 2
My ranger Soulbeast Liya Soral finished Living World Season 2 today. She found Caithe with her team and then hell broke loose. The fight at the end was a bit tricky and I asked my guild friends to help me out, since I was tired and not quick enough to gather the magic fire fast enough in teh second part of the fight.
Liya opening a door very dramatically - and her rock gazelle Rocky Horror and the pet quaggan are photobombing:
Nice view inside the cave (not spoilery, just nice scenery)
And this one is spoilery, but so funny, because it is supposed to be a moving moment and my little quaggan was photobombing again and I had to laugh :
I did some events in teh SIlverwastes too, since I had to wait for the Skritt tunnels to open.
And of course did the evening Tequatl with the nice group again, with my Harbinger Liora

Also I don't think there was any need to use the killing curse either

Jedi: Fallen Order
Played a teeny bit last night. Wandered some more on the vault planet, found another workshop, or maybe just another room in one I'd already visited. BD-1 scanned more stuff and I got lost a bazillion times trying to find my way back to the ship. Which was ----> right there.
Finally made it back, spoke with Cere and ship guy, who didn't like BD sitting on his couch. Poked around a bit and found the terrarium with one sad looking seed planted in it. Decided to head to Zeffo (Zeffa?) homeworld rather than the 'dark' Dathomir. it was a rough landing in the middle of a hurricane. Place was deserted except for stormtroopers everywhere. Killed a bunch of them, then finally quit once I found a meditation/save spot.
It appears there's no way to save manually? I don't understand why there are multiple save slots in that case.
Facial animations are laughable. Nobody cares if aliens look weird when they talk - they're aliens! - but Cere is just awful. All the other humans so far are either holograms or wearing helmets, so you'd think they'd be able to do one face well. Apparently not. Can only imagine the shitstorm if this was a Bioware game.
