Hogwarts LegacySo I realized after that last post I technically was lying because I still had all the post ending wrap up stuff to do. Met with Professor Weasely about finishing my field guide and discuss my progress. I was half wondering if this wasn't going to represent a final grade or something and if I wouldn't get lambasted for doing so horribly at it...so despite having my reasons for not doing it...being at 67% ish I was expecting to get a stern lecture which left me with the distinct impression of getting sent to the Principles office and having to explain myself. But alas, that didn't exactly happen. My last walk as it were through the castle was a bittersweet one. Despite aspects of this game going long in the tooth, mainly the potential bugs I was facing in the Open World, which it has occured to me might have removed the ancient magic hot spots as well...well yeah that dragged the experience down. But despite that I almost didn't want the game to end and is a sign that I still really enjoyed it. Still tempting to jump into a second Playthrough which is another sign. And honestly especially in the later game I think the game didn't focus enough on doing things in the Castle and instead spent too much time out there. Though it does make a lot of sense given game design conventions and the story they wanted to tell still Hogwarts is a mega appeal for these games...its also going to make any potential sequel even more interesting to pull off given all the millege Honor has done exploring and learning spells. The House CupSo they did it. They did the thing.
First off it was really telling, without bugs this time, but Black was trying to talk over a bunch of students about how awesome they did in following their founders ideals. Though it was a sombering note when it went over to Slytherine and showed Ominis with some random girl and no Sebastian. So wonder how much that can indeed change...for a next playthrough I suppose.
But then they did indeed do the thing. Honor comes in a little late, little somber her own, Black is about to announce the winner of the House Cup and Professor Weasely was like 'hole up a minute there is a student here who did really awesome and showed amazing bravery...so that is worth...erm...umm...100 points! Ravenclaw wins'.
So in the context of the game this crap makes no sense at all. In the HP universe Harry's final actions tended to happen right at the end of term and then he got knocked out for awhile and sent to the Hospital Wing so presumably there wouldn't have been any time to award him points before the final feast. But here the final battle happened in the Winter and the House Ceremony happens in the Spring so would've been PLENTY of time to award those points.
Despite this it still managed to hit me right in the nostalgia and I teared up like a little baby. And it did warm my heart so much to see Ominis...well hear Ominis...celebrating with us Ravenclaw's even more then the inclusion of his own house. Another thing I wonder if it changes though since the game gives no indication that it is keeping track...
Still great times, fire works went off, and we are victorious. Assassin's Creed VahallaSo the norse saga did end up winning out. My reasoning is that I think I am going to try and beeline through the story bits and ignore most of the side content. I'll see how much I level up. But basically will only try and do the 'wealth' stuff, probably the Drengrs, don't know if I will do the sisters yet because I suspect that is a way of getting to Thor's Hammer which this guy might want to use. But none of the henge stuff, not really any of the world events, and certainly not the animus anomolies even though I do want a brush up on who is Isu and who is not. Got up to the bit where Sigurd landed from his raids and met with us again. Biggest surprise so far is that for some reason I got up to the Valka stuff I think and then it dumped a whole crap ton of stuff into my inventory. A pretty bitchin couple of armor sets, some weapons, a Hunter Bow. Etc. Which does make me wonder how I am going to play this Eivor and then play Eivor overall. Some temptation in playing fem Eivor again because I did really like her, some temptation in letting the Aminus choose, but I stuck to my guns and went all male. And well want to play him a bit more bold and aggressive in combat but still doing a lot of the same skills and archery stuff. Less emphasis on stealth as I am quasi planning on not investing any skills into the assassin branch until...well Eivor gets the bracer at least...the assassin thing...whatever its called. Which should be soon I think so that's a moot point. And though one of the weapons was a two handed fire axe so that is what Eivor is rocking right now but may have to change that up soon as I do remember the two handed weapons were slow, clumsy, leaving Eivor open to easy counter attacks, without a secondary fast strike weapon. Won't do daggers this time but going to have to see what I can do to make sure this Eivor is balanced. Really tempting on giving a morningstar a try so this Eivor will be a lot more about exploration...and I doubt I will go after Excalibur this time since its too time consuming. Though maybe the Noden bow or whatever its called? Though given that I want to be more aggressive am tempted on giving the Light Bows a try to. ANyways though in terms of role playing just curious to see what playing as 'Bastard Eivor' will be like. The one that does everything to piss Sigurd off and makes them both succomb to their Isu nature. This does create a couple of interesting beats for me though because on the one hand I am wondering if the climactic scene where Eivor rejects Odin with the axe thing will play out any differently and I do wonder if the final DLC will play out differently since Eivor was trying to reconcile their Odin nature...which seems redundant if that reconciliation also more or less happened. Also going to be weird making Eivor such a dick to but alas...could be fun. More generally though this does speak to something about this game's RP elements and that of LEgacy's...the tie here is that both elements still feel fairly binary. A 'good' and an 'evil' choice. Not wanting to go into spoiler teritory but if you read my HL stuff you know that for me a lot of the choices weren't precented with a lot of nuance. Sure there really wasn't a mustache twirling 'kill ten puppies and five kids' option in that game but again there is no real reason presented in these games for doing the other option if you know what the other option is. Though I suppose at least in Vahalla's case one would then have to presume that the 'letting Odin run free' choice is actually the bad option, so we will see. But yeah in Odyssey though there was a lot of nuance to both options and while the outcome, at least in the family choice, was still kind of binary they did a much better job with nuance and letting things play out and not railroading you into things. It was all about how that group of characters bounced off one another and their understandably very frustrating feelings. WHich is probbaly how I unfortunaatley got mother killed in my last time through Odyssey. Maybe one day I will run through it...again.

SWTORI finished this week conquest, well the not daily part of it at least. I got the max weeklies (7), that's a rarity, I usually top at 5 or 6 because I there is a bunch of stuff I don't like doing. My Sith Warrior advanced on her Nar Shaddaa storyline, which is slightly boring so far because zero fighting outside one dude in the second area. I'm a Sith Warrior, let me smash fry something! GW2I finished the last episode of Living Season 2, that means HoT expac is next and my character starting to talk again which means I might end up annoyed at my female Reaper Sylvari.

My Sylvari Soulbeast finished the first part of Heart of Thorns yesterday with clearing out the Verdant Brink content. I must say, I don't like the Maguuma jungle maps very much. I was there before with her to do the hero point trains and the maps are so confusing. I also changed my pet to bear again, since I needed a bit more tanky and healing abilities. Everything in VB is basically deadly. The end of the VB storyline was a bit sad, even though, I wasn't especially fond of a certain character. But seeing, how one of my teammates reacted was heartbreaking. I think this storyline really fits a Sylvari charcter, with the Sylvari being effected by Modremoth. It raises the tension quite a bit and you are more invested in stopping Modremoth. Plus you don't know, if the Sylvari friends, you've met along the way, are still friendly. I'm playing that storyline for the first time, so I'm curious, how my next meeting with Caithe or Trahearne will go.

Jedi Survivor
Game crashed a couple of times and there were stuttering in the opening credits. There were also slight stutters when I play. After the second crash, I looked at the graphic settings and realised I forgot to change it. That's often the first thing players do, check the graphic settings etc.
The game was set in window fullscreen and the resolution was wrong; it was much smaller. I switched to full screen and I was able to change resolution to fit the monitor. I also turned off camera shake, film grain and RT.
After that, the game ran more smoothly. Hardly any noticeable stutter.
Carl retained the powers and lightsaber stances he learned in the first game so combat is pretty fun. 😄 He has someone to run with him. I think it's only for this stage.

I started playing No No Kuni 2 on PS4 that I've had lying around forever. For five years apparently, jeez...
I was still in the mood for couch gaming after Uncharted and that's the only PS4 game left.
I never played the first game. Friends of mine played the Japanese version on the DS back in the day. Before it came out on PS3. I had neither at the time.
Played about 90min. It was... fine. I'm not into JRPGs anymore but I do like Ghibli movies so I hope I'll like the storytelling well enough. Combat is blah so far. I assumed it was turn based for some reason but it's not. So that's a little disappointing. So not really nostalgia for me then.
Haven't played long enough to judge the game. So far it's neither particularly captivating nor bad. But I miss full voice acting already. Nintendo is really skimpy when it comes to voiced dialogue. I know it's much cheaper but come on. Nintendo is rich, why not give players full immersion? Oh well. Gonna keep playing and see how it goes.

Assassins Creed Vahalla.
On another note for RP I did forget to mention in my last HL posts to, at least I think, mention that Honor is rather unique because I usually make some effort to plan out my RP for the particular game going in...but had no such plans for Honor aside from the name and 'be Ravenclaw'. Didn't even know the limits of the RP or the themes of the game. Then playing through Vahalla again remembered can probably throw Eivor into that category, and then further thinking about it maybe Kassandra as well. Hmm.
Anyways I am a little rusty at things and also trying out new styles for the combat overall from my norm and my norm for my first play through. Especially since I may not go after Excalibur or the Noden Bow this playthrough really going to have to get used to new weapons. May wonder how Morningstars work out and really excited to check on that as well. Right now dropped my two handed axe quickly enough and right now running with the warhammer and Varin's axe. The warhammer actually has a higher stun rate then the two hander which is actually pretty satisfying. Next was trying to think which worked best in the main hand and which worked off hand. Thought the war hammer would've worked in the off hand and it does do some rapid hammering like the axe and dagger...but you can't seem to parry with the hammer...not like I am doing a lot of hammering but still. The archery in this game by far remains the best.
As far as what I did well I almost did it again and started out the Kotjve fortress siege thing. But I pulled out of it in the end and started to do more grinding throughout the opening region, probably won't be the last time I'll do it, but in this area remember the first boss fight being a little on the difficult side so trying to get a head start on over powering my character so I can kick more butt later and then just have a snow ball effect.
So doing a lot of wealth, though skipping stuff that is too hard to get to, upgraded my quiver and rations, visited my first 'home'. Didn't do the mushroom thing and also despite trying to avoid them...well they give out a crap ton of xp...but did two world events. The one where the guy suicided himself off the cliff and the one where Eivor runs into the guy who was trying to sell his family's gear.
Other then that was re reading my old posts in the what did you do today thread for the game to dust off the memory and relearn and well am quite chagrinned to remember that this game does not have transmog...though not abig deal since the stats are kind of superfilious in this game. And was also quite suprised to discover that apparently the mythic creatures don't let you know what their power levels are when you get to them. So tried to take on the dear...it wasn't going well. (also since I am watching Dragon Ball, amused at power levels)

They are the only ones who can understand Modremoth (sound like grunting for the others and Canach does the explanation if he's around for that mission) and there is an early mission where an option is only available to Sylvari PC. And the before last mission has some stuff the other races don't have as well. I really loved the two times I played HoT with a Sylvari and I wanted to do it again, that's why I made like 5 different Sylvari character in the last two years. They just never got there except my latest Reaper.

I love the Asura most as race (I have 4 Asura and 2 Sylvari) , but this chapter is so intense as a Sylvari. I'm very ecxited, how this will play out. I also think, that Trahearne might got turned (don't spoil me) - that would add to the whole drama.
I'm looking forward to getting the dragon egg, I hope, I will help a little dragon baby to hatch and grow up. Woudl be nice to have a dragon around, that don't want to destroy the world for once.

Now I might want to play another Asura in GW2. I got enough tomes and scrolls to take the character almost to 80 even. * Lets not think about that, I need to finish at least one SWTOR character* New Star Wars game out made by EA means...new pet via mail in SWTOR! That's I'm not going to use because I'm very "beast mode" these days. That means animal mount, animal terrestrial pet and animal flying pet. I wanted to make a mechanic variant, but I need to find a "flying droid" pet that isn't too hard or expensive to acquire.

Mus tadmit i tseems Firraxis a retaking a littlre longe rin gettin gStorm's DLC out t oMidnight Suns. I' mstill lookin gforward t oMorbius's and Venoms a sI haven't played them yet but I had half expected to at least have got an announcement on Storm's by now I only did one story mission for Morbius and stopped because I am waiting for the Storm dlc. In the mean time I've been playing Skyrim off and on testing various mods. But most of my time I'm creating a story mod for Skyrim SE/AE. Looks lik eStorm could be coming next week. I als oheard if yo uhave all 4 DLC's and beat them al therewill be a bonus mission at the end of it. I don' tknow if it's true or not though. My guess a fight wit hDracula himsel fo rsomething given the natuer of the other DLC's and the fact you're fighting vampyres. I did seea cutscenje where Spide yand Venom were setting up traps as part of the Venom DLC while the Hunter was keeping the bad guys busy but don't know what that was about as I didn't look too muc hint oit as I didn' t want the story spoiled for when I played it. But I am lookin forward t oplaying all 4 DLC' s and the main game again so we'll see. I alread ykmnow what I plan to d owith my next Hunter in terms of main stuff but with regards the DLC we'll see.

Hogwarts Legacy I started a new playthrough as a Slytherin. I'm not finished with my Hufflepuff, but I wanted to see the Slytherin specific quest. Wasn't that special, but now I really liek my Slytherin - she is btw a very nice and helpful character. Her name is Lily Juniper. She is now right before the first trial. Yeah that's my plan for after my Hufflepuff. Play my first male character who'll be a Slytherin who's not afraid of the unforgivables. But then I'm thinking of a female Griffindor who will use them too. But I'm sticking with my Sabrina atm. 20230412195146_1 by Steven Sharp, on Flickr Thinking I ma yswitch the 2 characters roun dan dd oGriffindo rfirs tbut not sure yet.

SWTORI finished my Sith Warrior story on Nar Shaddaa and I gained an ally for when I decide to take down Baras. Yes, I'm planning my future already. I'm not waiting to be the next " ex-Baras's Employee of the Month". I know how it works, I just dispatched 3 of them. GW2I'm really thinking about that new Asura character. I even did a tour of my characters and I got two 50 levels scrolls from their anniversary box and I got over 30 tomes too. So insta level 80 character. I just don't know what class. I got a Engineer, Revenant and Reaper Asura already. I'm tempted to try the Thief Specter elite spec or replace my Mesmer/Warrior Sylvari or maybe my latest Norn Ranger to a Asura Ranger (playing a character smaller than their pet, ahahah). Also, Anet is nerfing my Mesmer Mirage build May 2nd again despite me not using axe, just staff, so it's tempting to get ride of it. If Virtuoso wasn't so squishy I might be going for that thought (apparently Celestial isn't that bad, but I'll have to go in exotic instead of ascended , crafting ascended celestial is expensive...). I also started HoT on my lady Sylvari Reaper and now I want to play Mass Effect... I knew that was going to happen.

Jedi Fallen Order
Still on Zeffo, sloooowly making my way out of the ice caves. I found the next hacking upgrade behind a door I had to Push to get through, so now BD-1 can open more stuff. Got lost and turned around multiple times. So frustrating to be able to see the ship and where I need to go but not be able to get there! Found 2 more seeds for the terrarium so stuff might be growing in there soon. One of the achievements is for having a full Mantis crew so I'm curious who else will come on board. Since the tomb on Zeffo points to Kashyyyk, I'm hoping I'll get a walking carpet for one of them.

Ni No Kuni 2
Best thing about the game is the music, it's amazing. So beautiful, very dramatic. Very charming. Might have to buy the soundtrack.
I've played 3h now and just got captured by the sky pirates. Awesome looking village. Has a very Zelda feel to it this group.
Combat is getting more complex but I still get by with button mashing, lol. One aspect of the gameplay I don't really like is the world map you walk over to get to places like in Final Fantasy 8. Character turn into chibi versions and I find the whole thing really immersion breaking. Totally takes me out of the movie feel of the game. Also disrupts the flow because you get sucked into a separate combat screen old school style. Then you continue walking. That's different from the seamless transition into combat when you're at an actual location that's basically a long corridor. Everything looks beautiful at a location but that world map is jarring to me. Also doesn't look that great either. In the days of Final Fantasy I didn't mind that design but today it's just tiresome to be transported to a combat screen over and over. It's fine for isometric RPGs where combat isn't so frequent but here I don't like it at all. Combat is still kind of boring to me.
I do like the game though. Lots of quirky characters. The art style is gorgeous. And I'm curious how the kingdom building will work out. I have lots of cooking items I can't use yet. Many game mechanics still waiting to be discovered.

Jedi Survivor
The boxes yield better loot this time. Lightsaber parts and appearance customizations (yo, there're beards in the boxes! 🤣).
I've discovered that walls that allow wall running are magnetic. I was doing a High Republic puzzle and I was trying to get to a small little room below a platform because I thought there's an echo point there. Next to the platform is a wall for running. I wasn't even trying to get on that wall. I let Carl drop and he simply started running along the wall. 🤣 I think this might be different for higher difficulties. I'm presently playing on story mode. It would make sense the magnetism is there to help players along.
I'm at Khobos, I'm supposed to go to the Forest Array or something but I keep seeing yellow points on the map so I'm exploring every location that indicates places to be explored. Khobos is pretty big but fortunately, Carl can run and climb very fast which is a good thing. Otherwise, it's a slog festival.
Just met a NPC who seems very interested in fish. I had a time locating him initially because he's so small. 😄 Really small. I can't even make out his features.

So...going to do something rather drastic today My pc is getting full (as in too many files), with not enough space for my games and such However, I have a SSD that's the same size as my main HD (1TB), so going to uninstall all my games from my main HD, including the relevant programs that are needed to run them (Steam, GOG and EA Desktop for me) and install both the programs and my games onto my SSD aka. I'm going to be very busy

At this rate all future Bioware games will be half done and modders need to rescue it for free.

I'm going to be very busy Yeah I've been thinking the sam ewit hmine as a means t oboos tit's performance lately I haven't don eso yet though. Plus for the moment the games I wantto pla yI've got installed and it would mean reinstalling them sa I have noticed ove rthe years tha tmy PC's do tend t oslo wdown somewha twhen their harddrives ar full. As I remember my current machine ran great when I first got it when the pandemic started but nowadays it does tend to run a bit slower. It still runs my games fine but it doesn't feel as snappy as a new PC does. It's just a question of whether I wantto d osomething drastic lik eclearin gthe hard drives though. Especiall ya sit' ssomething that'll easily take a day if not longer given there's a lo tof downloading involved. Right now I'm not worrying too much about it but I could see myself doing it soon. Maybe ove rthe summer I'll spend som tim egaming on my Xbox whilst I d o it but we'll see.
