And we continue with the RE8 playsession as we head over to the factory just outside the town. What we find there is the last of the Lords and his, let us just say inventive methods:

do you use GeForce Experience as it can set the optimal settings Yes, I was using optimal settings, but I changed several of them to med/high instead. It's the CPU having the issue - it's just getting way too hot in there. Lowering the settings doesn't seem to have helped though. Mmm I am not the expert but maybe it's your chips what are you using, maybe they need a better cooler? What GPU do you have? If you can give these maybe saandrig can help you ?

Yeah I jus tstarted a new run o f|Midnight Suns today and played some Sla yhte Spire afte rfinishing Star Trek Resurgence yesterday. I' m basicall y alternating between Sla yth Spire Midnight Suns Fifa an dMass Effec tfor the nex tlittle while as I'm almos tfinished ME3 given I' mdoing the Citade lDLC there atm and thinking of doing a fresh MEA run after I'm done with ME3 At least that's m yplan fo rthe moment. I do plan on playing Oddysey mysel fas I do hav ei tin m backlog. It's just one o fthos esituations lik wit hthe Witche rsometimes wher I keep meaning t opla yi tthen ge tcaught up wanting t opla ysomething else. Maybe I'll play Oddysey afte rm ynext HZD playthrough as I'm feeling some urges to spend some time with Aloy again. Yes, I want to get back into Midnight Suns. While waiting for the Storm dlc to release I got distracted. I'll continue my playthrough after VTMB since that's a shorter game than the Mass Effect games. I read awhile ago that you finished all of the dlc. How is storm gameplay wise. I haven't looked her up to avoid spoilers. Yeah I finished all th eDLC the main differnce thi stime is I'm goin gto spread them out a bit more given each DLC is made up of 3 parts I' mgoin gfor a part 1 in Act 1 part 2 in Ac t2 kind of approach to them. Except for Venom's given he's no trecruitable till Act 2 in his case I'l probabvly d oparts 1 and 2 in tha tsecond Act. I'm thinkin gapproach in i ttha tway to give myself tim et olevel them al up properly Becauseby the time I pick up Venom hopefully Deadpool, Morbius and Storm will be levelled up to the poin twhere I won' thave to focus on them as much so I'll b eable t ofocus more on him. Right now I'm just going to be focusing on my base group as I need t ofocus on Magik Nico and the rest of the starting group atm so they at leas thave a few options. Once I get Spidey then I'll pick up the DLC charactres minus Venom and start working on them as the DLC's don' tunlock until afte rSpidreman is recruited. Probably becaus ehe's quite heavily involved in both Morbius' s and Venom's at least in the first part of each anyway. As fo rStorm yea hshe's a lot o ffun t ouse she's a bit of a mix between Dr Strange and Scarle tWitch in tha tshe has a couple o fbuffin talents as well as a Winds of Watoomb style ability called Gale force. she also has an AOEability called Vortex which is a bit like a mix of Scarle tWitch's Hex field and Huntres Bladestorm in tha t it has a stunning/damag eeffec tbut also knocks enemies in tha tarea back. I don't think it's quite as strong as Hunter's Bladestorm but it is still effective. But I think I need t ospend more time with her before I can figure out how best to use her when she's on my team. Must admit I'm kind of looking forward to having Morbius and Storm on the team more this playthrough though(given I'm recruiting them earlier) as I found them both fun to use.

Dark Messiah of Might and Magic
As it turns out, there is no armour for melee. There's only magic and assassin so I put in the point for assassin to wear the armour because I'm hardly using magic.
I forgot old style games tend to be shorter and faster on some aspects so I have to 🤣 when Leanna, Menelag's daughter, expressed her gratitude and feelings for Sareth, right after they escaped from an attack. Xana has something to say of course.
There's a section when Leanna has to follow Sareth. Fortunately, the devs allowed the option to tell her to stay put. The other option is to have her follow the PC around like an idiot and getting killed. Once the area is cleared, she will automatically follow.
Have to 🤣 when I accidentally kicked her to death. She got in the way of the kick and was laid out flat straight away.
There are secret areas and chests to loot. More often than not, chests out in the open contain potions and food. I like that wrapped food rations in chests in the water float to the surface while the potions remain within.
Enemies will drown in water. Yup, I enjoyed kicking them off the gangplanks into the sea or deep pools. More fun on the heights, I kicked them off the ledge and didn't have to waste any time fighting them.

It's the CPU having the issue - it's just getting way too hot in there. Lowering the settings doesn't seem to have helped though. The game is very CPU intensive. It will slam it really hard, especially in some areas. You need a better CPU cooler and/or a dust cleaning is overdue. Maybe even a repasting. Lowering settings (shadows, foliage, post processing, Volumetric related stuff, object density, etc CPU heavy things) will not lower CPU load by itself. You should set a frame rate cap alongside them. Lowering settings increases FPS, which keeps the CPU load just as high. So lowering settings alongside a lower frame limit will actually be the temporary solution.

SWTOR
I did play a bit today - new story with my shadow and some more class story with my smuggler. She is now on Taris doing the quests there.
GW2
I advanced the story a bit more with my Sylvari Soulbeast. She left Ember Bay (good ridance) and was called back to look after the dragon egg. Before she left, she found a mastery point during a group event. It seems, that the point is only reachable right after that event.
And there, she found the cutest surprise and a not so cute surprise with a really hard boss fight. I asked a guild friend to help me out. Though I do think, the first time, I did that fight, it was bugged, the enemies didn't really take damage the first time, the second time worked normally) This two spoilers are just pics, the one above was a bit story, but I don't know, how strict I should be with a ten year old game:
And my Asura mechanist did some events again and unlocked some Waypoints

Nier Automata Redid the combat exposition stuff and kinda get it now. Didn't connect they were team grey cuties and "we killed them" was more group speak and dissing them was more machine superiority sthick than "we two shirtless men choked those poor space suckers to death and you're next". Or well, that's how I'm understanding it.
B2 pods voice is Mass Effects Legion. As in same actor not just the voice garbling. Which is cool. And less hammy brother is the prosecutor in Judgement and Nier from Replicant so he gets some extra points. Was also amused to find that the hammy brother is also the voice actor for Yagami in Judgement, so guess they are finally getting along. And also Namba from Like a Dragon which was a surprise.
So finished route B. And I'm converting to the fan side. Because it was good. Don't quite get everything but had a blast playing 9S and the final battle was a lot more sad. Since the boss gets more screen time and you realize that they actually might be a child (mental wise) and not just acting like one.
Did not start route C tonight (because sleep is not just a myth), but looking forwards to it. Hope that the next character can hack, because that was super nice. Or at least that their gimmick is fun. Because robots should go boom after all.

The PC is barely a year old so I would hope re-pasting isn't already necessary. Better CPU cooler is the most likely possibility....when I bought it some of the reviews mentioned the cooler being a bit underpowered for the system. The CPU is Intel i7-11700KF 3.6GHz, 8 cores. GPU is RTX 3080. Since I'm no longer my own tech support, I'd have to take it in for a replacement/upgrade.
I believe I initially set the FPS to 60 but I can lower it to see if that helps reduce stress. I haven't had this issue with any other game I've played on this machine: MELE, MEA, HZD, TW3 (both new/old versions), JFO, and a few indie games.

SWTOR
My Inquisitor is now doing Shadow of Revan expac. I finished the Rishi part dealing with pirates as if I was a pirate (with a lightsaber) and did the 2 story flashpoints. The next part is on Yavin 4. My Darth Nox got a girlfriend now (sorta, you can't lock that romance until KOTET): Lana Beniko.
GW2
Zaithan was defeated again and my Charr Warrior is now dealing with the Molten Alliance. Only the last instance left to do and I already know the last boss is going to be super annoying since Spellbreaker are terrible at ranged attacks.

Welp, since my computer isn't happy running ACO, I pre-ordered Diablo IV (standard edition) and am now dl'ing it. If you don't hear from me for months, this is why.
At my rate of dl, it might be ready to go by the release date. Happy early birthday to me!

You can always turn on DLDSR and switch more load to the GPU. Only other thing I can think of would be undervolting the CPU, either by power limit, core offset or core voltage. But I suspect a high quality cooler would do the job in the end. Out of the listed games, only HZD would be capable of tasking the CPU, but still not as much as Odyssey. Even at 1440p you would be able to hit something like 165 FPS in HZD and the CPU would not be quite at a 100% load, more like 75-80%. While in Odyssey you would be at 110 FPS and the CPU will be screaming at 100% as the game asks for more.

Hopefully though it has highlighted an issue that needs fixing. As I said my 1070Ti with intel chips never had a problem playing ACOD capped at 90 FPS and on High settings but it did have a liquid cooler.

Nier Automata
Route C is off to a bad start with the virus section. And a massive portion of that is that I have no sense of direction and being restricted makes me grumpy. So not much thinking going on. Just anger and annoyance. Made the cutscene after satisfying in a way I guess.
Then got to do a bunch of sidequests, which was a blast. The fellows at the amusement park are looking pretty fire now. I like it. Also had a grand time in the Meat box since I had subjugated a dear type robot so had company on the way.
Then genuinely felt pretty bad about the story. Because it got really dark all of a sudden. After a huge high note as well so it was an extra potent punch to the gut.
Then the impact of that was tossed away as I started the Soul Box. Which is just hacking. Long sections of hacking. With hazards. And I'm just dying. In hindsight it will be just anger and annoyance like with the Virus section, but am putting the game down for now because I'm just livid in the worst way. Figure I'll check how much I've got left when I'm cooled down. Because if I'm just at the beginning the game is dead to me.

When the ywork the ycan mak ethe machin ehandl elike a dream but they do require a lot of maintenance t okeep going which can be difficul tfo rsomeon elike me who has adisabilty it's the main reason why I switcvhed bac kt ostandard air cooling. Thasnkfully if it's because they have a problem wit hth efan then it's jus ta case of replacing it and the yshould be fine again. I had issues wit hm yCPU fan on my las tPC. Thankfully m ycurrent PC ha slargely ran fin esince I'v ebought it so if it's because o ftheir fan tha tthey'e rhavin gissues hopefully it'll be fine for m ea smy CPU fan is running fine for the moment. But then I've not had t otake m ycomkpute rapar tsince I've bought it yet. With air cooling it's just a case of replacing the fan if it breaks. I have never had a problem with a liquid cooler and have used them in every PC I have had built in over a decade. My current PC does not have one as the new AMD Chips don't need them as they run cooler and when I asked to upgrade to a liquid cooler they said and some on this board said that it wasn't necessary. Sounds like you must have just had some bad luck or I have been very lucky.

^ Liquid coolers sound like the next step to go but I'm sticking to the old fashion fans when I think of all the things that could go wrong. With fans, there's no burdensome complications.

dazk DragonKingReborn After seeing the flashback at the end of chapter 1, I'm pretty sure I will have to play as Alexios to see how that scene and others differ from Kassandra's story. Which ones in particular sorry my memory fails me? Is it the cliff scene, then just swap the roles. That is pretty much the same for all of the game IIRC, Kassandra's VA is better as the main character IMO and Alexios VA is better at Deimos but Kassandra's probably equally as good, again IMO.
EDIT: melbella I enjoy playing as Kassandra far more simply as I find Alexios VA's voice annoying, like he is over acting but others are of the opposite opinion like I believe like Kaidan Fan (all hail Sexios ) and Element Zero Yeah, I really like Alexios. There's something loveable about him. I prefer him as the protagonist. Melissanthi Mahut was absolutely flawless in both roles, so it's not at all related to her VA. She was perfect, and I love her voice. I do like Kassandra better as Deimos. She seems very unstable, unhinged, or whatever, yet maybe not beyond saving. Alexios as Deimos seems to be in a state of pure rage most times. It's harder for me to but into his being saved. Both performers were so good.

Yeah with fan syou just have to replace them if they brea kwit hliquid coolers you hav et okeep rememberin t otop up th etherma lpaste an deverythin in orde rto keep them functioning whic hi ssomethin gyou need t odo a tleas tonc ea year s o while i tdoes keep your syste mcoole ras it's like an air conditioning system built fo rcomputres i tdoes require regular maintenance. A standard fan system doesn't as I've had m yPC for 3 years now and I'v enot had t otak ethe side off for maintenance yet. I've had the odd ocasion when the system needed rebootin gdurin ga system crash bu tthat's as fa ra sit's gone. I'v erebooted i tand i works fine again but that's not got anything to do wit hthe fans and cooling. Thankfull yin the UK the weather hardly eve rgets tha thot so I don' t think I really need it.

ACVFinished up Asgard. Kind of forgot that the Builder turned into a giant...well giant. And I probably did cheese it the first time because also did not remember any of the things he did or did not do them to me in the first place. Quite the annoying boss fight where he would bolt me into the air and then trap me in with him. It was fun though at least once I was able to land on him with a hammer skill. End was a little anti climactic as out of nowhere just seemed like his health dissolved. From there though seems they added a new piece of content since the last time I played. More mystical stuff involving, this time, Niflheim...getting God of War vibes all of a sudden. ...but this is...kind of interesting? Just not sure how much I want to invest on it because it seems very grindy right now which I do not want to grind and also don't seem to gain any in game experience for that so yeah. But it does seem like it would be worth explorign and a great way to kill a few hours. Lots of different ways to kill crap and gain different currencies which you can then use on various things and also skills and different objectives. Interesting.

Dark Messiah of Might and Magic
Finished the game.
For the last part, a NPC cried out for help and begged to have his body released into the Abyss. I thought; poor sod, ok, I'll release you. After reading the plague on the reason why he was tormented, I went; sod you, you can hang for all eternity! 🤣
There are four endings for this game. It's basically; good, evil, betrayal, ambition. Not much difference in the cutscenes, I looked up YT after I finished the game, the words spoken are of course different. Could use more rounded finishers for the "romance" part but oh well. This is an old game and stuff like that is pretty sparse.
Compared to the Blade Runner (1997) game with three different endings salted with different branching variations depending on choices, it's lacking in some story aspects. Gameplay is good though.
