Hey Dani climbed a really fucking big hill. That's quite the pose in photo mode. Always need to experiment with those more. Granted always more difficult I guess when the character isn't custom. I can't be 100% sure, but I am pretty confident that whenever I actually finish Far Cry 6, it will have taken longer - in terms of start date to finish date - than any game I've ever played. April 2023 I started. I've taken plenty of breaks and played other things, and only have about 35 hours so far, but I keep finding the fun. I still don't know - or care - if it is supposed to be a 'good' Far Cry game - never played one before this, but I'm having a blast. Yeah. As someone who was pretty luke warm on the other Far Cry games I've played 6 is by far my favorite. And Giancarlo Esposito, whom I am a pretty big fan of too, his role in that is probably my favorite role he's done. *** NHL 22Bit of a unique situation presented itself today. Started off playing AC Mirage but the Bruins game was on and on Hulu so I was able to watch it, kind of, but it wouldn't play on the tv so wifey just put it on her phone for me to listen to...and I didn't want to distract myself in case I ran into story content...so I booted up this game. Which I have been playing every single day this week but...you know. Just muted the tv volume, funny story the controller wasn't muted though so there was that. Game was against the Edmenton Oilers and this is the wildest game maybe I've ever played. Just so many goals. So many penalties. So many really fun moments. Hell as a preview both goalies got pulled in the game too it was just that insane. And well trying to remember just all the goals that happened to but I've been really hot on the power play scoring on like lets see 6 of the last 7 on the last two games. Pastranak has also been super hot over the last little bit, just has started the season cold but he is coming down and starting to bear down with I think a streak of 4 multi point games. He got it going early in the second period today, after it was 3-2 Pasta got the puck... to Bergeron or Marchand who was able to get it in the net, I also think on the Power Play. Then the very next face off the Bruins got it and given the stats McAvoy got it to him in space for a breakway and he buried the back hander to make it 5-3. Other general story line before I get to the 'fun' parts is the first 'perfection' line is finally getting going, Marchand even had the first hat trick for me on the season a game or two ago...and this game was no different as they contributed for 4 goals...which is actually a really small number given the final score but still quite important to consider. Marchand had 2 and Bergeron/ Pasta both had a goal apiece. Finally Carlo got a defensive goal pretty sure in the first period off the face off and just a heavy slap shot which got through to the net. All that goes into the third period, 8-3 Bruins, and this is when the insanity stated. Now before I made the comment to wife that they were really giving a lot of penalties to me and just making the game so easy for me especially since I was converting. Well similar to the game I played against Montreal not too long ago I spent virtually the entire half of the third period on the PK and the highlight of which Bergeron got a game misconduct on a hit...which is probably pretty ridicilious, so that was a ten minute major right there. So as the dust started to settle on this it got up to 8-7 as I continued to try and push, Debrusk picked up his nineth of the season for a short handed goal making it 9-7. They came back again for the PP and got their 8th to make it 9-8. Taylor Hall I think picked up the next goal and then...like in real life Trent Freddick buried the Empty net clincher, final score, 11-8. Ugh. What a game. AC Mirage
A rather unique bit happened today. Now you can do these quests in any order that you want so this could happen earlier but this is farily late game for me...and there was an area in this quest I was doing with automatic combat not permitted in this area things. Of course as per usual in this game you can really bump into a restricted area very easily, with guards, who see you, then you have to run. Another thing about this game is...given its advertised short nature I was operating somewhat on the assumption that the gear chests would be in story areas. So I haven't gone out of my way to hunt down gear chests because I want to avoid the Vietnam effect as much as possible. And for the most part this has really bared out and been the case as the gear is in the story areas and aside from that one area, I have pretty much been to every area once...only like a couple of other areas which have been maybes but not too horrible. But when this does not happen, because there are gear in the open world that aren't tied to the stories. And in my experience they are really complicated and hidden behind complicated puzzles. Ugh. Guilded Butterflies
This was the most unique assassination mission of the game and aside from what I mentioned about the weird no combat rules pretty much executed to perfection. ANd what was good about this mission to was just that it was different and unique from the other two set pieces in how it operated which were very similar. Get into area, figure out how to infiltrate area, kill target.
Basim did have to infiltrate an auction but the level of help and how the help was presented to you and the threat from the bad guy's was very different for the most part.
So had to go around and get clues and do more errands for Kong...he had me steal somebody's plate which he passed off as his own *rolleyes*. Had to follow around a bunch of rich women who put me onto the identity of the tressurer as Ning..a Chinese woman. Not sure how acurate this is per se but this is seemingly setting up the next arc for the games though I guess the next game may be set in Japan and not China. Still, a way of explaining why the Order is in the east.
Anyways a neat assassination followed where I got a personal meeting with her. I found it a very bad idea that Basim kept introducing himself as Basim, but got a meeting and she did indeed seem to be sus to us...but we were faster and put the hidden blade in her neck.
The Jinni made an appearance and its weird but also cool. Each assassination the Jinni seems to be getting more and more active. Just waking up, to crawling, to now actively running around and stalking Basim in the shadows. And he didn't mention it to Roshan this time saying it was 'gone.'
The thing that is unfortunate about this is that the Jinni/Loki and Basim still have not actually interacted. Sure do a different thing and I think this still fits Loki's parasitic nature compared to what Odin was trying to do with Eivor but, I guess much like with Corypheus in Dragon Age, its just unfortunate not seeing the two interact and sort of give into corruption and madness...because Odin wasn't trying to take over but persuade Eivor and give him/her options for whether or not they were going to give into Odin's corruption. Here Basim is not getting any choice, which not an RPG, and as I said general take over. But Loki is getting stronger when Basim is doing things he should be doing in the first place. Killing the Order. Its an, imo, bit of an odd narrative choice. Yeas hseein you rteam d owell and getting goo dersult scan inspier you t opick up a sports games haqppen swit hme an dFifa sometimes.Especiall yatm given Spurs are playing well again after the last few years. Kind of tempted to pick it up again now that I've finished m ylatest Andromeda run. But I think I'll be prioritizing HZD tomorrow as I want to mak esom eprogress there But I coul dsee myself taking a brea k and playing Fifa later once I'm furthe rin.

It appears my Xbox controller I use for certain games on my pc is dying. I use a wired connection while playing and it seems to be disconnecting shortly after being in use. Tried some other cables and sockets but no luck. Haven't even had this one for that long...my old wired 360 controller lasted over a decade in comparison.

The 360s last forever but the newer ones break all the time. My 2 old ones (also wireless) are still functional! I swapped them for a wired one though (knock off brand) a couple of years ago because all the battery charging was getting annoying and the sticks have zero coating anymore. Currently using the Starfield controller, let's see how long that one lasts...

I've been playing Fallout 4 for more than a week, and I still haven't made it out of Sanctuary Hills. I've been fixing the roads. i.imgur.com/lXXYIaz.pngThe problem is, that the mods that sound good are no longer available on Nexus, or they rely on mods that are no longer available. Some are available on Bethesda's site, but you can't get them if you have the GOG version. So I've got the roads done, and my player's house. i.imgur.com/eVBq4fd.jpgI built the neighbor's house and started on one down the hill. i.imgur.com/stccPc8.pngBut I think I'll start again with a mod that levels the ground out better. It would be a lot easier if I had the construction set and could make my own mod. But you can't get that with the GOG version either.

BG3 So I built sandcastles with Shadowheart. I'm a little more meticulous in wandering around the city for this PT. I poked into every door I see. Locked? No problemo. A citizen runs up to protest? Well, I threw them prone and went back to my business to BaE. Passed by the kid whacking a target. In the first PT, she said her piece and I entered out of curiosity because I had nothing to do with the place. In present PT, I have Jaheira in the party and a fresh cutscene popped. I was surprised to find the place is actually her home. The conversation that followed was funny.

A Date with Death
It's hilarious, I can live out my sarcastic little shit fantasies with this game Oh and Grim is a cutie...not that MC believes he's the Grim Reaper just yet...but I think it'll be funny to have her find out the truth in time
I know right? I was incapable of not choosing teasing/sarcastic options Our boy blushing cutely was only spurring me on.

A buddy of mine is gonna let me use his wireless adapter so I can test if its the whole controller or just the USB port on it thats bad. If its the whole controller I'll probably just try to find a cheap replacement. Not gonna shell out 60$ if this is how long they last Update: Alright, looks like its just the usb socket on the controller that isn't working right. No issues when using the wireless connection.

I cried again thinking about so many moments in Survivor, especially when Bode killed Cordova and when Vader killed Cere. Honestly, I haven't had a game hit me that hard (emotionally) or stay with me that long since the ME OT.
Got me thinking what the third installment will bring in terms of story...

Legend of Heroes Trails of Cold Steel In the theme of finishing games I finished my first run of this game. Started in August last year so it's been 5 months to play almost 88 hours. The ending was so freaking good. Had been kinda lamenting how tedious the run had been (big part my fault since I'm using a guide to skip FOMO) but the end so made up for it. The rest of the game was fun as well and I did enjoy all the little npc stories I got by talking to everyone and their dog but boy did it take some time. Was spoiled on few of the twists (not from the guide, it was wonderfully written) but did enjoy finding about how they happened. Figure I'll use the same plan for the next game, since I'm more focused with reading bunch of dialog the first run and it sucks going around talking to everybody then missing one convo in act 4 because the time window is tiny but it makes you miss out on a item which locks you out of getting one cooking recipe which is vital for the half way point of a three quest questline and now you'll have to replay the whole game completionism mode if you want your achivo. This is of course a massive hyperbole but the feeling is the same. Also helps when you're prone to taking month long breaks between sessions Am also tempted to go for another quicker run of this game again since the achivos I have left seem to be very much within reach. Minus completing the character notes because I wasn't very strategic on the bonding scenes in chapter 6 and the NG+ max out bonding points perk is expensive and I'd rather keep my items/levels for a Nightmare run. And I figure I'll miss out on the chest one as well. But it would go by considerably faster at least. So it's tempting. If Baldurs Gate 3 doesn't consume my soul again...

The Talos Principle IIWith the last of the southern zones clear, it's now back to the... Borg-esque... Megastructure. One thing I like about TTP is that the narrative doesn't try to apply any time pressure on the player. You can take as long as you want in the various regions without the game trying to hurry you along or having your companions nag at you every 5 min (like you get some games)... Inching ever closer to the Golden Gate puzzles... The worst puzzles are these pylon puzzles where you're trying to create links across entire maps. This is where that flycam really comes in handy...

AC MirageNext mission came out about from a rather interesting circumstance. Turns out I forget to go and do the big bad guy in the House of Wisdom that was running the entire operation from there. Some confusion also followed but its a rather fun story. And well its also fascinating to because this game had two big set pieces involving infiltrating a more secure area almost a fortress even. And two of them involving infiltrating more of a society dinner or event or party. Really fascinating division and variance which I am really pleased by. The Great WorkIn this case the idea was infiltrating a symposium held by the House of Wisdom and a particular scholar at the House of Wisdom putting on which Basim thought was the leader of the Order in that particular area.
Kind of the thing is that it was odd...granted I think in my case this was kind of my fault for making the assumption...but on the flip side I also realize the introduction was a bit odd...unless I missed something else. But on their introduction of this character it almost seemed like he was an alley of Basim and the Hidden Ones and working with them, and then suddenly he is working with the Order everything. And not as a traitor situation. So I was going on assuming that we would be heading for a red herring situation.
This did not materialize.
Then they stuck Basim in kind of a device tied to the Isu and I thought great we'd get a lore dump and perhaps a Loki connection...did not materialize. Though given you can do these missions in any order that didn't make any sense either.
Yet despite these things this quest was probably the best in the game and provided some of what I was looking for in terms of philosophical underpinings. Nehal features heavily in this quest and her point is basically that Basim needs to start asking questions and be conneted to his past because losing connection with his past and not asking questions about the Order is not exactly a good thing.
Which does put me in mind of the whole Loki reveal and him subsuming Basim's idenity. Which is a good point. Now this game is pretty much the first game where you play as an actual Hidden One everything has been from the outside looking in so we have not had the opprotunity to critque the Hidden One philosophy or even address it. The bad thing about this is I have no idea if cutting all ties with the past is part of the Hidden One typical MO, but it does make some logical sense for this organization even if Nehal is right and its stupid in the grander scheme of things. And it is a problem kind of for this exact reason...of course they don't know what we know that this Jinni is about to swap personalities with him so its VERY IMPORTANT that he holds onto himself, and in general while it is important to not wallow and be consumed by your past...the past is an important part of who you are.
Either way, nice to see them addressing this issue. Judge and ExecutionerNow afterwards we are going after the final order member and this time we have got leads on three targets.
First one I went after was the governor because I thought he was the most likely target. And turns out...he isn't.
But he did make a deal with them to back off of Alamut because the Order promised him peace. Had to fight my way out.

Spiritfarer
I completely the game: 42h. Probably the second longest indie game in my library after Cliff Empire (90h). Didn't expect that.
I completely messed up progression in the second half of the journey though. So other people probably don't take nearly as long to complete it. I missed one spirit for ages who gives you crafting upgrades. I unlocked those when I didn't need them anymore. Most of the useful stuff unlocked way too late for me. So it felt like I wasted a lot of time grinding stuff the hard way. Because I compulsively harvested everything in sight I had so much stuff I would never need and the last 10h or so when I stopped it was just sailing from A to B over and over and it became a bit annoying without anything useful to do in between. So I ended up cooking all dishes for an achievement I don't care about.
For the longest time I thought most of the story and crafting progression was very linear. It sort of is but there are enough variables that you can end up going about things in very inefficient ways. Some upgrades are also well hidden in the world.
What also felt bad from a narrative perspective was that I could finish the game before I had taken care of all spirits, that was weird. And then the actual ending had ZERO narrative. Was over in two minutes, that was disappointing.
That being said, I'd still rate this one of the best indie games I ever played. Crazy good value for the current price tag. I had a lot of fun with it. Very enjoyable crafting game with lots of quirky characters and nice exploration. Very nice contemplation of life and death, different characters have different perspectives. Made me tear up a lot.
9.5/10

Picked up another party member in DQXI. A very flamboyant circus jester. Seems like he gets access to a bunch of crowd control type abilities which can be useful. Also picked up a boat to sail around in which is kinda cool . So far I've been enjoying it more than I thought I would. JRPGs have never really been my thing, but I think the lack of random encounters in the main parts of the game is really helping.

Legend of Heroes Trails of Cold Steel Started the nightmare run but am an absolute Skipzilla at the moment so benching it for a while, or saving it for those braindead days. Did make it to chapter 2 though so that's nice.
Started the second game instead. Think it doesn't have the turbo button (don't tell me if it has!) so my pushing the skip button from the first game just gives me a little doot sound. Doot doot doot. Still in the prologue but the bit I played was fun. Rean's Papa shares a voice actor with Jeralt from Fire Emblem which felt way more comforting than I would have expected. And a tragedy that it was the point where the voice acting cut off. And like I get budget and stuff but please, gimme some more David Lodge time. Got a fishing rod so those fish better watch out! Red Angler Rean is back on the prowl. Now it's just a question of how far I'll get until Infinite Wealth comes out. Or Baldur's gates grubby paws get me.

So...I'm starting to really like visual novels xD
Played and finished another one today that was also free on Steam
I got several recommendations on Reddit the other day, so I'm trying out a few that look interesting, for now focusing on the ones I can get for free. After all, if it turns out I don't like it, I can always just throw them away.
Anyways...
Error143 Even shorter then A Date With Death, but this one has voiced dialogue. It was a lot of fun, the love interest is a huge dork...which was refreshing, I was laughing the entire time xD You play a programmer/hacker who hacks another hacker because they one upped you at some tournament. Of course he hacks you back, and you start some bantering which eventually makes you both catch feels.
Oh, and I downloaded another one that was free, so going to try out that one next ^^ It's called Our Life: Beginnings and Always...should be interesting
