Started playing Planet Of Lana without any idea what the story was about. ...which apparently is a reaper invasion Mass Effect spin off! Yeah, OK, it's more spider than squid reapers and they catch people in cages like in War Of the Worlds but still! After that intro you escape to something more Ghibli beautiful and you find an adorable little monkey pig (??) friend to help you with obstacles as you're trying to find your abducted friend. I like the art style for the most part except for Lana and other people looking like something I did with Paint in the 90s... So far it's easy puzzle platforming. Escaping robots is trial and error LIMBO style. They get you, you die immediately. I'm moderately entertained. The most expensive game I bought during the Christmas sale, so I hope it's not too short or too boring.

The Talos Principle IIBack at it today... I just wrapped up the West 1 region which introduced some simple floating platforms in the puzzles. The was one kinda-tricky puzzle but the rest were pretty straightforward. I do like these little "proof of concept" tables you find in the various labs that demonstrate upcoming puzzle features.

I just finished Halo CE again. I might start over and play it in the anniversary graphics. I'm not sure. I'm kind of in a moral dilemma. Assets from Halo 3 and Reach were used for CE Anniversary, right? At the same time, I'm worried that I'm doing a disservice to Halo, long time Halo fans (veterans), and Bungie. I don't know. I'm not interested in 343's games, and the Anniversary is still CE, in spirit. It still has that Bungie touch, the same goes for Halo 2 Anniversary. I don't know.
The last thing I want is for any long time Halo fan to say that I'm not a "real" fan because I play it in the Anniversary graphics.

AC MirageContinuing on finding things and pretty sure I am gearing up to the ending. Sometimes it is amazing just how much gaming I actually get in been playing a lot of hockey *cough* yet still got thirty hours in and almost finished the game...since Christmas. What to play next? Also I think I neglected to mention this last time but I did find a really neat couple of pieces of gear, well one gear and one cosmetic. The gear improves the rate at which I fill the Assassin Focus meter and the gear is the 'Master Assassin' getup. Something to finally get him out of his Vahalla getup. White. Plain. It has the Assassin 'A' on the stomach like the Roshan gear but...can't have everything I guess. The Fox and the HunterOne of those weird things where the game really seemed to be implying something literally to yank the rug out from under me. My hunt for clues on the final Order member continues through the streets of the Round City. Next up on the list was Arib. Much like the governor there was some obvious connection between her and the Order. Which I suppose is the point... Just that we overhear talking to one of her servants or friends, name drops what I am pretty sure was the code name for the Order agent I was running through...certainly a code name. So I got all excited...this was the person I am looking for! But then Basim is like nah none of the Order here. / interesting. And shows what I know because I was suspecting at this point that none of them were but then... The Servent and the ImposterOdd set up. Basim had to infiltrate the Harem dressed up as a Eunuch. The trouble is...he is not a Eunuch. Of course the getup was thick enough could not be easily told what was there...but you'd think that if it was important to tell what was in ones pants you'd be able to tell because its a pretty effective to know that someone is not on the up and up.
Nevertheless this ended up being really good. Basim infiltrates the place though and instantly ingratiates himself with the servenat of his suspect Qadiba. She starts giving Basim a bunch of stuff to do for her in exchange for the key to the office...get a book, a magic potion (which ended up being alchol) and something to make her eyes bigger. And then she proceeded to get drunk off the alchol.
One of her tasks took me up to a restricted area. I haven't been doing a whole lot of role playing in this regard with this game but I decided to here and try to knock out her guard force, all but one. I guess just this request seemed a bit odd.
Turns out my instincts were good because she was just playing all along. And she poisoned one rival of her mistress to implicate the other. So kind of Order behavior but there really wasn't a lot to implicate her other then that...but she ended up being the Order head. Person I thought the least likely ended up being the one. Unless it changes depending on the order, doubtful, shows what I know. The Serpent's NestSO lets see here...
This starts off in a similar state as previous quests. Ali and his little Rebellion decides to attack the palace in the same day I was going to get there...
So I helped them infiltrate and cause a ruckus. I then let animals out of a cage, then bribed a stewad to let me in.
And then as expected I ran into the son of the guy Basim killed in the prologue. Not that much happened there other then the little revenge thing.
Then I got to the target and she started sprouting a whole lot of very relevant Loki related stuff. Turns out the Hidden Ones have something buried underneat Alamut related to the Isu and the Order Head promised to join with Basim in order to find out the answers to what he seeks. Before he can say yes though, though he does withdraw the blade, but is interrupted by Roshan. Basim is quite pissed at this and demands answers from Roshan. And she refuses to aquiese...also saying that if he continues down this path he will kill him herself.
So this brings up a lot of possibilities though and sets up the end game. Wonder how Basim is going to get out of this since he is effectively drinking the kool aid because we know he is still with the Hidden Ones in Vahalla. But since he is buying into the whole thing though this would align him with the objectives of the Order. Kind of a fascinating dichtonomy, wonder where it will go.

BG3 Close to wrapping up the male Paladin run. The interactions with Shadowheart is so sweet. I was annoyed with a NPC. On this run, as I mentioned, I was more nosy so I discovered some information. I tried giving this info to the NPC and had to reload a few times. Obtusely, I chose every other dialogue option rather than the first one. The first one is the one leading to giving the info. I felt sorry for her upon her reaction since she's the end product of incest and nothing more than a means of someone's intentions. Pretty lousy. Out of curiosity, I started a PT with Shadowheart as the PC. I'm pleased to note that the narrative is different and there are some slight differences. I had to restart again because I forgot to change some of her starting spells. Command is one since she can make mobs drop their weapons. It's because of this that I never switch her out for anyone. Ever. She and Gale. Astarion is inevitably the one to be left behind.

Mainly because I think a Cleric/Sorcerer build with her as team leader could work nicely wit hthe way I play this type of game. I finished Planet Of Lana in about 5h. The game ends like one of the Mass Effect endings after all! For the price tag it's a bit short. The game has nice music and a decent art style. Story is average. Puzzles are easy and you mostly die because of the clunky controls. Nothing special about this game, the Trine series is a MUCH better puzzle sidescroller. 6.5/10 Don't regret playing it but do regret the price (14EUR) a bit. Couple more pics:

Pretty sure you can press K to change her spell load out in your current game (Don't know how on console, but it's in the same window group as the inventory I think). Clerics have access to all their spells so you just need to pick which ones are primed. Unless of course you're talking about it because you forgot about it for a specific encounter with a certain handsome red fellow. In which case ignore me while I shake my fist at you for benching Sneaky Stab MCStabberson.

The Talos Principle IILittle by little...While I'm not quite finished with this region yet, West 3 has some pretty impressive architecture. Also, it feels like the largest. Lots o' runnin' 'round. There were a couple of puzzles that had me thinking for a bit and one strangely easy one... which was literally one connection.

AC MirageOne of the funny things of the game and its noteriety system is some of the more...interesting implications of it. Like you rip off posters to get the noteriety down but if you do it in front of someone...how does that make the noteriety go down? Also this came to a head today where I bribed a public official to drop said noteriety to zero...right behind a guard. I guess Basim just gave it into his palm all quiet like. The Final JourneySO this was foreshadowed to hell but I am glad they actually followed through with it unlike...other games.
It did glitch on me though in the midst of all of this. The Templars...erm Order of the ANcients attacked Alamut and Basim came along later to save all of his friends and what remained while also gaining the answers he seeks.
And now this is the second game in recent times that I have had to look up the answers to confirm a few things.
Ugh realized should have said something but Nehal followed us to Alamut...and it turns out she does not exist. She was the 'Loki' aspect of his personality...as was the Jinn being the more negative memories and the trauma of being Loki. The Temple of Alamut ended up being a prison which once held Loki himself. Not sure when this was supposed to happen in ancient times, but it did. And well...afte rall of this and all the memories the Loki and Basim part of his personality are now one and the same.
Also we fought Roshan but she survived. In kind of a curious moment but one I approved of which does help tie things up rather nicely. Roshan ends up leaving the order in the end of the day and Basim gets to stay. Him and the other Mentor says they have a lot to talk about but it fades to black...nevertheless it does explain everything and why Basim is still with the Hidden Ones by the time we get to Vahalla. He won the power struggle.
One of the things this revelation works from a philosophical perspective but not sure how much it works from a plot perspective. IE not sure they did enough set up for it to justify the twist. Only thing I can think of is the whole thing with the Caliph's kid saying it was just him who did the killing of his father. But on the philosophical sense I think the twist really works well having Nehal be Loki because Nehal was pushing us the entire game to look into his past and come up with the right answers. Its again a little problematic because the person encouraging us to look for truth and information ends up being the ultimate antagonist and its one of those things I'm again torn on, the line between forbidden knowledge and what not.
Only thing that dissapoints me though is there was no hint...nothing to really tie this game into why Basim would find his way into Norway. Though I guess that was already pretty much explained in Vahalla himself as he recognized Sigurd and decided to tag along years later, which just makes the whole thing just sheer dumb luck.
ANyways I am still pretty pleased with this ending. So its kind of one of those things. I really did enjoy this game, in parts, it was a LOT better then the 'DLC turned full game' experience but this does repersent a kind of troubling trend where each AC game I have played has been worse then the last. Odyssey was pretty peak and I think of it as very high on my fav gaming list and RPG lists or what not (one of these days I will get around to doing that!) And now this...well Vahalla had its issues to but an amazing ending, much more enjoyable combat, pretty robust. And this game I think felt so close to really being a great game, better then Vahalla even. But it definitley does have that 'DLC' imprint to it. Its just a bit more hollow. A bit less in the production values. A bit lacking in the writing and connective tissue. I don't mean to downplay that I did enjoy this game and there was some really well thought out gameplay in here and mission set pieces as well that made it worth it just nothing too spectacular on the story front. SO all that being said. Probably mid tier 2. Edit: Though I also won't call this game 'short' by any stretch of the imagination a bit right given the amount of money it cost and what it was but man I am a bit surprised I finished it this quickly!

BG3 Moving to Final Battle and I realised Larian put the player on the railroad where companions are concerned because I brought Lae'zel for the Astral Plane event but I do not want her for the final battle. I need someone else. I found I cannot switch party members before the last stretch at the Upper City. Seriously?!!!!!!! Come on. Damn it. Fine. Lae'zel is totally out for the AP event in future PTs. I don't care.

Did this happen in the game, if so I'd say major spoilers, if not that needs to be made clear IMHO? Apologies, I had honestly forgotten that I gave away that detail....But I guess I assumed that it's been a year or so since the game was released and there was enough stuff on youtube by now that anyone who has wanted to play it by now has already played it and I (incorrectly) assumed that by now that detail was well known. But you're right, I should have toggled that detail with a spoiler warning....just in case. Again, I do apologize. But what I meant in the statement above is in what I had typed about thinking about Survivor and crying. In THAT statement there was no *spoiler* because I never said why I cried in those words. The toggled statement, I beliieve is from an earlier post...which again, I should have hidden with a spoiler tag, and I do apologize for not doing so. All that being said, I still highly, highly recommend you play the game. It is a beautiful game in many respects.

Never played Halo myself but I have some parts of the gameplay movies and I enjoy the series on Amazon Prime

^ @energizer Bunny 212 sjsharp2010 I might revert back to the original graphics though. There's just something about the OG visuals that make them very appealing, compared to the Anniversary, not the mention the natural evolution from Halo CE, to Halo 2, and to Halo 3 as Bungie made them, with the third game being peak. Truth be told, Mass Effect Legendary Edition was a better remaster. Yeah it is an dwhilst I d olik ethe nwere graphics comparedwit hthe old Hal o2's remaster blwe m eaway when I firs tsaw it. I hav eth eHalo's myself though I don' thave them installed and atm I' mno tplaying them. I'm tempted t otr yand getin and pla yInfinit eagain but no tsuer when atm as whilst I did play Infinite when i tcam eout I neve rquiet finished i tas I ran out o fsteam when playing i tbut then I did try takin gi ton not long after finishing an MCC run so was feeling a little burnt out on Halo. I was thinking if I do try again it'll be without the MCC and pla ythe MCC again later. But yea hI prefe rthe ME rtilogy remaster too as I'm thinkin gof playing that again soon busy with Horizon Zero Dawn atm given I'm preparin gfo rForbidden West.

I've started playing Wytchwood, another cute quirky crafting game where I have to collect souls (of bad people this time) for the goat to awake Sleeping Beauty. And also so the witch gets her memories back. This is done by crafting all kinds of items for NPCs who will then help you trap the evil souls. I like the art style a lot. Music is good too. More pictures of the various biomes: The best thing is the NPCs though. They're hilarious. A farmer being jealous of his neighbor's crops. A beekeeper terrorized by his queen bee. A zombie husband... Pics of NPCs: It's a very charming game. Enjoying it quite a bit. What you have to do is pretty straight forward so far, so it's a relaxing experience. Once again native ultra wide support. I was expecting very few games to support it but so far all the ones I've played were fine. So no regrets on that monitor so far.
