Can't remember off-hand which game had it first, but Syndicate has leveled assassins and enemies. Oh, okay, I might not see it. I liked the mission structure/simple abilities gain in the first one. Has to be said that Syndicate's skill tree is hardly too complicated, it's no issue to get 'all the things'. That I can't remember in which game it started says it wasn't complex before either. (Cranks open past AC games)ACIII - leveled enemies: No. Skill tree: No. - though you do learn a few new skills through the plot. ACIV - leveled enemies: No. Skill tree: No. - though you kind of level up your assassin (and ship) through crafting/health and weaponry improvements. ACU - leveled enemies: Sort of, through archetypes. Skill tree: Yes, very rudimentary. ACS - leveled enemies: Yes, through archetypes & levels. Skill tree: Yes, rudimentary. In short, the iterations have been gradual and undramatic, with 'signs' of change in Black Flag, developing further in Unity and Syndicate.

I was going to wait to get this game but the more I see of it the more I'm certain I'm going to really enjoy it, so I think I might get a season pass.

Just fired up AC2. So far not sure... by some reason they substituted buttons with little symbols, so I have to go to Options to remember which symbol corresponds to which button & it drives me crazy. New graphics moved in the more realistic, less artistic directions. OMG, what did they do with Lucy's mouth? Was she *drinking* that blood? It now occupies half her face and so bright red, it's terrifying. Once the actions shifted back to the glorious past, thanks goodness, I am not sure I like the graphics change also. It looks so... clean and dead'ish compared to the first one. And the controls, OMG, the controls... it feels so sluggish. Ezio has character, I suppose, but it will take getting used to his flamboyance. Really out of the comfort zone for me. Anyway, gotta see if I can get used to it.

You could rebind actions to something easy to remember (though, the default settings were fairly intuitive as I recall).

It's not that they are not intuitive, it's they show pictures. So, the instruction is: "press "picture of a palm" to move your arm." Jeee... thanks! the moment I locate the picture of the palm on my keyboard... IIRC it actually was like that in the first one, unlike the other games that actually just give you the button you are bound to in the description. I rebound the medicine from 1 so far, because if it is a usable, I am bound to keep clicking it by mistake while fighting on the side mouse.

I found the early games very cumbersome. It wasn't until I got to AC3 where the controls felt right. Syndicate improved things even more. And while AC2 is lauded by fans, it had a metric shit-ton of collect this and that with very little reward. From a gameplay perspective, I don't see anything special about the game.

OMG, this is soooo frustrating. I was trying and trying to finish the first task, and I just can't. I am supposed to bit Ezio's annoying brother to the top of the church. Well, the moment the game says I need to race, there is this disorienting moment, because the camera doesn't face the darn church, and by the time I can get him to climb the church front the brother is way ahead of him. (Sigh) not a great start.

I loved Desmond trilogy, everything after that is just meh. QFT. At least the Desmond aspect story lead one to believe that there was something bigger to be discovered with every new game. Sadly that is not the case. Now all of there games cane be summed up with "You are and Assassin" in any random point in time. There is no certain something that makes it stand out any more. And it looks like they are trying to do a soft reboot by going back to where we were introduced to the series and while that may be good I simply don't care . If I do decide to play the game I will get it on one of those Steam summer sales for $15.

Okay, I got Ezio to finally climb the correct wall fast enough, thanks goodness.
Then, Ezio went on amorous adventure. Wow, it is really embarrassing not to have a yes/no button. Seriously, man, we've just met this woman. I am not sure climbing a wall really gets me in the mood. Where are my background talks? I mean, I know some people critique romances that are just pressing a heart button, but darn... I want a heart button. Ezio, you are embarrassing yourself, you are embarrassing me, and the girl should be sent to the convent. That would still take her.
Then, the game finally went back on the rails of what I remember from the first Creed, and the letter was nice. But I am too tired to go on. I dunno, I am just really shell-shocked. I think Ezio could be just too much of his own character for me to enjoy the game. I'll play a bit more to get into the plot and see how I cope, but I think I like Altair's less forward style more.

Okay, mechanically, I picked up on all the buttons, so the old excitement of running accross the roofs and climbing the architectural landmarks is back! Story wise I went through Ezio’s background, and the good part I guess should begin shortly with assassinating the targets and their stories, if the game is somewhat similar to the first one. The picking up florins does not bother me so far, but I haven’t done any shopping for gear, so I don’t know how hard it is going be to keep Ezio in gear.

Certainly do not feel as much as a free agent in AC2. Altair was his own man, but Ezio..,
Ezio! Your mammma needs you! Ezio! Your sisterino bambina is not happy! Ezio! Your uncle Mario has to talk to you! Ezio! You need feathers or your mammmma will never talk again! Ezio! Uncle Mario says go buy armor! Ezio! The wierd voice in your head wants glyphs!
Ezio! Ezio! ezio!
I expect Cristina to show up with five bambinos in tow, to tell Ezio to pick up some fresh fish (10) and turnips (33) while he’s lazing about the country side.
Seriously, thanks goodness at least some men of his family got nixed... it must be really hard to be an average Italian padre de familia
Takes away the quiet enjoyment of a lone wolf death-bringer form the first one. Too noisy. An assassin can’t have family obligations.

So it looks like the embargo won't drop till release, otherwise we'd be seeing reviews by now. Annoying. I need reassurance the PC port isn't crap.
Looks like it leaked as well. Some people are playing it on PS4.

It’s only four days & as soon as embargo lifts, the prerelease reviews will spill because everyone would want to get them out ASAP. I am more interested in what the folks will say here in terms of how the game feels.

I actually have this Friday off, so I am going read some of the reviews, for sure. Gonna be cool to see what people think... or at least I hope it’s going be cool, not painful.

Well I bit the bullet and pre-ordered. On the store page there's several paragraphs detailing the importance of PC, how they developed it alongside console with M&K in mind, etc. You almost never see a multiplatform dev reassure/inform their PC fans like this, hell not even CDPR. So yeah, worked for me. That and the fact their recent games on PC have been solid. Only problem is it says 28th as the unlock date.

I think Ubisoft has started to learn PC ports a bit better. Watch Dogs 2 was actually a pretty solid port.

I pre-ordered tonight as well. I really struggled with the decision on PC because of Unity. But Syndicate was rather smooth, so I decided to hope for the best. I don't see the unlock date though, where can I find it? It just says "coming soon." Also @carefull : All the assassin's had families, even Altair I'm so excited for this game guys. *screams into the sun* Ancient Egypt is one of my fave things ever!

Ezio starts off as a bit of a brat, but that was kind of the point. He goes through a lot of development. Give him time, Jade Dreamer. :S

Ye gods... So, the game took me to a city in Tuscany to fight that guy who was annoying la Familla and Uncle Mario.
First time I climbed to get a view after making it to Uncle Mario but before assassinating the target, got the stupid feather on the way, but fell down when trying to reach the top. It desynched, but not to after Uncle Mario, but to the start of the city. WTF?
Second time, replayed the stupid beginning of the city, climbed another viewpoint, got a glyph, solved a puzzle SYNCHRONIZED the memory, run out of time to play.
Just reloaded the game, GUESS WHAT? F'ing beginning of the city again. WTF???? I thought it was supposed to be the "true" open world added to the first game? It SYNCHED. It SAID so.
So much for the open world. Had to redo the whole thing all over again, and it evacuated Ezio from that city back to Uncle Draculo’s villa to find 4 codex pages. That, at least, got saved.
Yeah, I really can’t see Don Ezio as an assassin. And, yes, seeing the story rotates around the uninterrupted male line, there gotta be at least one child per, but the Auditore clan is just so... annoying. I expect a cousin thrice removed to show up any moment.
